If you're sitting at the bar you can see the window where your food comes up -- our salad and fries both sat there about ten minutes before anyone brought them the ten feet over to us. Not a huge deal, but it's a little cruddy sitting there thinking "I'm pretty sure that's ours" and waiting. The ambiance is very dark, with a lot of stairs up and down -- you head into sort of a basement-type area. Everything I saw was clean and nice. It's a cool, funky spot to take a date or hit for happy hour, so the vibe and ambiance are definitely spot on for that. Signature cocktails -- all fine. Not the best thing ever, but solid. I'd have them again. Side salad -- good. The ranch is made in house and very flavorful, and the salad was actually loaded with veggies. French fries with garlic aioli -- a bit of a letdown. We didn't even finish them. They came out okay, just a little dry, and the aioli itself wasn't very good -- we didn't really like it. Pro tip: The entrées looked pricey, which is why we stuck to snacking at the bar -- and after the fries came out, we were fine calling it there and eating elsewhere. I recently visited this restaurant and had an experience that I felt only warranted 3 stars, as it ultimately felt like a bit of a tourist trap. I have to admit that the ambience is really cool; you walk down into a basement to enter the restaurant, which used to be the city morgue, and while that's a little bit creepy, it gives the space a dark, velvety vibe that I think some people would really like. However, for a higher-end establishment, I found the service to be kind of spotty and not quite up to par. My biggest disappointment was the food, as we ordered two entrées to share and found both to be rather disappointing and honestly kind of bad, which was especially frustrating given how expensive they were. The brussel sprout appetizer had a ton of oil collected at the bottom of the bowl . The rib appetizer was just okay but the cabbage seemed like an afterthought just thrown on the plate. The duck was pretty good overall with the turnip puree, the strawberry rhubarb sauce, and the leak rice being the standouts. The service was also just okay nothing to write home about especially with having stated a celebration on our reservation. A place of surreal Alice-in-Wonderland vibes, decent food, and very tasty cocktails. You're here for the experience as much as a good meal (though the meal is pretty good). FOOD: I had an Angus Ribeye, which was tasty and done to precisely the color I wanted, but really needed to be trimmed of fat and gristle better. My wife had the chopped salad the whiskey sticky ribs from the apps menu, and liked both of them a lot. Servings were generous. The drink end is where things shine. Their Sazerac was excellent. The "Espresso" Ol' Fashion was quite good. The signature White Rabbit Martini (complete with flaming marshmallow) was kind of gimmicky, but quite drinkable. SERVICE: Our waitstaffer was friendly, helpful, and showed up as often as we expected. The place draws a lot of patrons, even on weekdays, so reservations are highly recommended. We managed to get seated as walk-ins, but it was a bit iffy and it was at 4:30pm on a Tuesday. They are also strict on how long parties of a given size are allowed to hog a table. That makes sense for the number of diners, but still felt a bit off-putting (though the duration given for a party of 2, 90 minutes, was comfortable). AMBIANCE: That's why you're here of course, and from the sidewalk stairs leading down to the plethora of Alice-in-Wonderland artwork on the black walls, the atmosphere is thick and delightful. VALUE: Premium prices, though servings are generous and the quality is good. NET-NET: Definitely a worthwhile experience. We had a pretty decent experience at The Rabbit Hole! It was a SUPER last-minute plan and we somehow got lucky walking in and grabbing seats at the bar. (If you're going on a weekend though, definitely make a reservation because I don't think that luck happens often) Food-wise, nothing totally blew my mind flavor-wise, but everything was still really solid and satisfying. It's more comforting and hearty than fancy or experimental, which honestly hit the spot. The portion sizes are HUGE, you absolutely get your money's worth. You won't leave hungry. This has been a must try spot for me. Ever since moving to Colorado Springs, I've been told, "go to rabbit hole!". So here we are... and yes, it is fantastic. I genuinely loved it! So my friend and I went and she got a Manhattan to start and I got the white rabbit martini. I loved my drink and thought it was well balanced--but if you don't like coconut rum, I'd stay clear from it. Though it's my personal favorite! We got bread as well to start. Then for dinner I got the duck and she got the truffle mac and cheese. She loved hers and I loved mine! The duck fell off the bone and was so tender. The black rice was interesting, but actually pretty flavorful. And I liked my broccolini! I would say this dish was really good and with the sauce? Maybe one of the best plates I've had since being in the springs. But dessert was the standout. The chocolate bomb was soooooo good. The mousse? Yum. I could eat that all day every day. It was magic. I will say that the concept is kind of cool, and I do love the vibe that he gives for Alice in Wonderland, but I was disappointed in the food. The service was decent, but they could train their servers to be a little better with tourist. The server we had was not very talkative and short in conversation. Pretty good as for the food, we had both a grilled fillet and the braised bison short ribs with little to no good things to say. I will say that the grilled fillet did have good flavor, but the potatoes and plate were very cold when the food came out. I don't like my food piping hot, but I would definitely love the potatoes and actual hot food was hot. Now for the breeze, short ribs, I will say that there was absolutely no flavor, the potatoes were also very cold and I just did not absolutely find anything satisfying in that plate. I've been here a few times - I don't know why it's taken me this long to review this place, Ambience: if I could give 10 stars, I would. The entrance is the coolest entrance ever. We had to ask multiple times just to get drinks, couldn't tell who our actual server was, and every time we needed assistance it felt like an inconvenience. A few times we clearly tried to get help and were ignored. We've visited several times before and never had issues, even with the automatic 20% gratuity added. We've always happily tipped extra because the experience matched the service. This visit felt very different and honestly made us question whether the level of service dropped because gratuity was already included. We recently made a reservation here for an anniversary dinner and it was a good overall experience. The atmosphere and decor in the restaurant are a super fun and unique and most of the food we tried was good as well. That said, we did start the experience on a slightly disappointing note. When we checked in for our reservation at the hostess stand, we were quickly taken to a very isolated, somewhat brightly lit table at the corner of the bar room (instead of being seated in the main dining room). After no more than a minute, we ended up politely asking the hostess if it would be possible to sit in the main dining room instead (since it was our anniversary and we had made a reservation like everybody else sitting in there). The hostess quickly told us she could make it work if we'd be willing to wait about 10 minutes. We ended up waiting over 30 more minutes to finally be seated in the main dining room. Meanwhile, multiple other parties were offered/declined the same table we were originally seated at. Several others also arrived for reservations while we were waiting and were seated in the main room before us while we stood awkwardly to the side of the hostess stand. Not exactly a great experience for two people celebrating an anniversary. The experience was mostly good minus the upfront hiccup. We ended up ordering the ribeye, the bison ribs, and the risotto cakes and goat cheese balls along with White Rabbit cocktails. The risotto cakes were great, the bison was very good, and the ribeye was very well cooked and tender. The White Rabbits were a fun experience and pretty good. For the ribeye, I would've preferred the cut be slightly more trimmed of fat (not a huge fan of fatty cuts) since the sauce made it difficult to tell whether you were cutting yourself a bite of fat and gristle or actual meat. One last note, service felt a little less polished and more rushed than I would have expected for a somewhat nicer restaurant (especially towards the end of the dinner when the check was dropped off without a word). This is likely just a by product of the server being overloaded that night but it still felt a bit rushed and dismissive. Tonight, for the first time, I visited the Rabbit Hole. The goal was to see if one could craft a usable, viable dinner out of the appetizer spare ribs for $15 and the side chopped salad for $9. Worded another way, can a person assemble a reasonable and tasty dinner de facto for less than $30 at one of the city's better restaurants? The answer: yes. While service at the bar tables was lackluster, at best, the whiskey sticky ribs themselves were worthwhile. The style is a profoundly sweet, "wet" ilk, sometimes referred to as "Memphis style." But with the nice, charred patina, they work well. There's a reasonable amount of meat present. I didn't detect an undue amount of fat or gristle, even on the ends. They sit on a bed of cabbage. The chopped salad? Outstanding. But the question emerges: why would you dedicate such time and resources to a salad but provide .39 salad dressing? It makes little sense. What's disappointing? As alluded to above, the Blue Cheese dressing for the salad was of an indescribably cheap, "Hometown Buffet" grade, probably mayonnaise / soy based. I literally couldn't find even one piece of Blue Cheese in traversing the entire decanter with my fork. For a restaurant occupying this high of a station, yes, even in Colorado Springs? This should be a homemade variety with ample chunks of real cheese. As a worthy aside: I hit a nouveau French bistro in Englewood last week whose owner, hailing from Lyon, literally places gigantic pieces of solid French Roquefort in the burger for a small up charge. I was spoiled by them as I came here expecting something maybe remotely similar. Such proved woefully absent. The ribs should either sit atop a bed of ***rice*** with cabbage, or for a small extra fee, should be adorned with mashed potatoes. That would complete them as a meal item, regardless of whether one orders the appetizer ribs or the main course ones. The meat begins to exude redundancy without something meaningful balancing it, both in taste and texture, why rice or mashed potatoes. Finally, bread is an exotic side order with a separate charge levied for such. I didn't order it, as, again, at a fine dining venue--sorry, but I believe that I'm right here--not only should bread be complimentary, but you can judge a restaurant's culinary prowess by the quality and freshness of its complimentary bread. This unwritten rule will never fade, regardless of anti carbohydrate-leaning diet fads. The dungeon, basement facility is a little imposing. I didn't smell an overwhelming scent of great food, just historic construction smells. Laughable, but true. As with so many restaurants in Colorado Springs, the place packs tremendous potential, and with a modicum of meager adjustments could be so much greater. I will hopefully return, but in doing so, will bring my own salad dressing and yes, even a French roll with a pad or two of butter. Sorry, no photo of the chopped salad. read more

They only do reservations for party's of 4 or less and there were 5 of us so we just showed up around 8:15 and got lucky to be sat right away! I chose the cherry limeade martini and it was delightful! Very sweet and came with a little candy as a garnish. Not too strong where you can easily have more! This was a totally cool experience. The restaraunt is entered through a class enclosed entry leading beneath the sidewalk. Its a tad upscale, and fortunately someone made reservations. The wait staff were engaging, attentive, but not imposing. in fact, our server was a new mother and we didn't notice that she disappeared (to feed her baby) because other staff members stepped up to create seemless service. 5/5 -- no hesitation. My meatloaf? Amazing. The cocktails? Also amazing. Honestly, I could end the review there, but then you wouldn't understand the true MVP of the night: Hannah. Hannah didn't just serve food -- she served an experience. Friendly, attentive, and so good at her job it made me want to start a petition to protect her at all costs. If Colorado Springs had a Hall of Fame for servers, she'd be inducted on day one. The vibe here is already cool, but Hannah made it legendary. Wow! This restaurant is the BOMBYou have got to experience the vibe and ambiance of this venue! First of all, you walk down the steps of the entrance which is on the sidewalk and enter a Rabbit Hole to die for! This restaurant actually is under the street. I ordered the Filet served on herbed mashed potatoes and asparagus. The meat will melt in your mouth and the potatoes and asparagus were perfect. Rachel was our waitress and she was on point! Always there when needed. All in all, this is a must visit in Colorado Springs! read more

What a fun spot!! I feel like usually you need to pick between a a cool themed restaratunt or good food. Here, you have both. This Alice and Wonderland theme was excecuted great starting with stairs underground in the middle of downtown. It was a lively enviornment with awesome little details sprinkled around the restaraunt. The food was actually really tasty and had one of the best martinis I've had in a really long time. I am still thinking about the Whiskey Ribs that we had as an appetizer! Our server was not the most lively charming person, but not enough to deter me from having a great time. This is a great spot to visit if you are visiting Colorado Springs! read more
