Toasted Ravioli
Colby G.

Very impressed with Red Gravy. My boyfriend is from stl so he is hard to impress when it comes to stl style pizza, but this place didn't disappoint! The toast raviolis (T-ravs ) were really well done, crispy, savory and hit the spot! We had 2 pizzas, the sausage and pepperoni and the sausage and pepper pizza! We got both well done and they were excellent! Definitely a must try if you like St. Louis style! Also, Cassie is fabulous. We sat at the bar and she gave exceptional service !!

I went to Red Gravy for dinner with a group and overall had a good experience. We started with the toasted ravioli, which was delicious and definitely the standout appetizer. The cheese garlic bread, however, felt a bit overhyped. For my entrée, I ordered the Campanella Shrimp Pesto. The pesto sauce was flavorful and the pasta tasted fresh, but I wish it came with more shrimp. Dessert totally redeemed the meal: the blueberry gooey butter cake was so good and easily my favorite part of the night. Would come back, especially for dessert!

Butternut Ravioli!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Red Gravy has service, style, and food figured out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have eaten here mainly for a weekday lunch, but it would also be a nice dinner spot. I absolutely love the Butternut Ravioli, it is my go-to pasta choice with a Red Gravy salad. However, I branched out and tried the Penne Pomodoro (vegan), and I was not disappointed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My favorite table is right by the window looking out at Tajon or sitting on the patio when the weather is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Mediocre food at best. Never ever order online for takeout-tiny portions and Unfortunately they use online ordering platforms that increase the price of the entire menu and refuse to take takeout orders over the phone like every other business

All the food items we ordered were super good: crispy risotto balls (highly recommend!) had a thin crispy shell but warm and soft filling that paired really well together and the two other pastas we ordered were great as well. Service was really nice and friendly, and I love that they mentioned the owner was a winner of Guy Fieri's gameshow?? Restaurant was also pretty nice with high ceilings, cute signs showing the way to the bathroom, nice windows at the front of the restaurant.

On a Thursday night* don't come to this place if you don't reserve a table... when we got there the young guys working there said oh sorry no tables available even though they had many, also while we were staying outside looking for a new place to eat they had the balls to come tell us we can seat outside if we want. Are you kidding me? [[HIGHLIGHT]]With our two kids in hands and a 40 degree weather. That's wild! What a rude staff![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Luckily snagged a reservation on a Saturday. Service was good from quick seating by the hostess, to various servers helping clear plates and deliver food, to our super nice waiter who helped me select the pesto cream pasta. They smartly dropped two bottles of water at the very beginning so you won't get parched. Food was overall very good. Tried the toasted ravioli (don't think that's my thing but I can see why people like it), but the red sauce it came with was really good-made me wish for some plain bread to dip. The low point was the salad-the romaine was beat to hell, with a few nice red lettuce leaves. However, the pimento, shaved onion, and dressing were quite nice. Pasta: the pesto pasta cream sauce w/sundried tomatoes-I subbed chicken for shrimp-was full of flavor and so delicious. I really wanted to eat the entire thing but alas. I also tried my first aperol spritz cocktail and thought it tasted nice, came out super fast. Hubs paperplane was also good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was nice-brick walls, nice wood floors, felt lively.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely return.

Nice place, nice and quiet at lunch time on a Sunday. No bread. Disappointing
Kimberly H.

No bread served with any meal, lunch or entree last time I was here with family. So strange that an Italian restaurant with such great food would have no bread.

Fettuccini Carbonara

Great downtown Italian restaurant. Service and food both excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located in a cool old building.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Carbonara and bolognese both tasty. Can't wait to come back.

So we did go to use that (although or waitress didn't read it I don't think because she only gave us one free glass of wine when it said per person). But that's not a problem! We were grateful nonetheless! So yes, we did go to happy hour. This board was really nice, but they never said what each item on the board was. So I have no clue what the meats and cheeses are. For a place that says they are known for boards, you'd think they'd share what is on our board. I think the value is alright for what you get! But I would say that there are other places around (Cork and Cask) that have a better value for your buck! This is still a gorgeous presentation and it's a good chill vibe at this spot. The wine was good. But I don't know if I'd come back unless I had another coupon I fear.... And the service was not great even though the place wasn't super packed. Sad because I hoped I would've liked this place better but maybe I'll come for dinner!

Steak bites, truffle fries, brownie skillet... I want to come back just to try more food alone. This was insane and the pricing was good, the value was good, and I even ordered truffle fries to go because I loved it so much! What is super fun is that they now have wine tastings on Tuesdays and it is a great deal. $12 for four wines. Someone tells you about each wine and it's a great way to sample a bunch of wines, both local and not. I was super excited about that! I will again, come back to do that! Lots of positives there. And our server was very sweet. She was checking in and making sure we were doing well. I wish I knew her name but sadly I don't. But she was so kind and had a great personality. And everything came out fast! The vibes are also good. I love the outdoor seating/patio options for a hot summer night. And it was very lush. It's funny because I had never heard of this place before but it is in a fantastic area near Night Ramen and Provision Bakery (two amazing spots). Breakfast at Provision, apps and drinks at My Cellar Wine Bar, and maybe a dinner at Night Ramen. Haha! Just kidding, but again, great spot. Here's where I have issues. I worked in the restaurant industry for six years. I understand staying over close and even coming in close to close is a no no (at least for me). But we arrived at 7:30 pm and stayed until 9:45 pm. One of my best friends is getting married so she wanted to show us her dress and share her excitement. At 9 pm (note they close at 10 pm), they turned on the lights, began sweeping, closed the kitchen, and even at one point blasted music. We asked the waitress when they closed the wine bar. 10 pm. But what frustrated me the most is that the manager (I assume) came over and was acting extremely condescending. "I know you girls are having such a good time!!" And was trying to usher us out. Girl. You don't close until 10 pm. It's 9:45. If you didn't want us to stay, then maybe change the hours. I don't care if we are the only ones there. It was extremely rude and the way she said it felt, as I said, condescending. Like we were young and dumb or something. As a diner, I expect great service. Which we got for the most part. But to kick us out before it closes is unprofessional and frustrating. Of course we left, but god forbid a girl get excited about her wedding and wants to share all about it. This left a sour taste in my mouth and again, if you wanted to close early, maybe don't tell patrons the actual time you close: 10 pm. We bought a lot and a bottle of wine. Let us finish our glasses and I promise we will leave before close. I would still come back, but maybe I'll go to Vine and Wheel or another wine bar first.

The first time I was there was many years ago, when the warm fireplace with couches was a centerpiece and memorable. It's upstairs, off the street, windows looking out. I finally made it back with a friend, and we had a great time; however, as John C. said in his comments, I can relate to the (still current) problems they seem to be facing with only one employee available, and no one to make the cheese fondue we were looking forward to. We settled for a cheese and hummus & olive plates, which were good, just not what we wanted. I do not recall the fireplace going. There were a couple of other parties seated at tables, and it seemed as though our server was a bit overwhelmed. He did know about the wine, which we appreciated. I do not wish to write off this special place and am hopeful they will make improvements based on reviews like this one.

If you're sitting at the bar you can see the window where your food comes up -- our salad and fries both sat there about ten minutes before anyone brought them the ten feet over to us. Not a huge deal, but it's a little cruddy sitting there thinking "I'm pretty sure that's ours" and waiting. The ambiance is very dark, with a lot of stairs up and down -- you head into sort of a basement-type area. Everything I saw was clean and nice. It's a cool, funky spot to take a date or hit for happy hour, so the vibe and ambiance are definitely spot on for that. Signature cocktails -- all fine. Not the best thing ever, but solid. I'd have them again. Side salad -- good. The ranch is made in house and very flavorful, and the salad was actually loaded with veggies. French fries with garlic aioli -- a bit of a letdown. We didn't even finish them. They came out okay, just a little dry, and the aioli itself wasn't very good -- we didn't really like it. Pro tip: The entrées looked pricey, which is why we stuck to snacking at the bar -- and after the fries came out, we were fine calling it there and eating elsewhere. Overall, would recommend for happy hour, and would return.
