Ordering, payment, and any other service other than food being brought out is done at the bar. They forgot our order of scotch eggs. Well, Either their new owner or management. I went there because of the good reviews. I saw Reuben on the menu and that's all I needed to see nothing beats a good Reuben. This was by far the worst ive ever had. I've traveled coast to coast for almost 2 years and I realize that everybody's version of a corn beef Reuben may be a little bit different but this thing was awful. What I got was a small mixed green salad with three small previously frozen/ thawed soggy Brussels sprouts on top. The salad was smaller than I had gotten as a side salad at other places and the three soggy Brussels sprouts were absolutely disgusting. Definitely not worth it. The person across from me had fish and chips. The fish portion was a nice size but it came with a "side of coleslaw". Quality has gone so far downhill here. This place used to be good but my last experience was one of the worst meals I've had anywhere in a long time. I ordered the fish and chips that was $16. It included a singular piece of fish the size of my cell phone, lots of fries, a lemon that was dried up and maybe two inches big, and about three tablespoons of 'coleslaw' - it was spicy but didn't have flavor. This sounds like such an exaggeration, but it's not, I really wish it was. I ended up going home and eating because I was hungry an hour later. The bartender was fantastic though - so sweet and fun. We have been wanting to try this place out thinking it closed at 8 per info. on a Friday night was odd. We arrive 6:45 & place was packed out. Two seats left at the bar & ask about closing hours. We all got corned beef and cabbage. It was served on a paper plate with literally corned beef (which was tough) and a bit of cabbage. I was expecting a short whiskey glass, but this bad boy came in a HUGE mason jar. It was very balanced and not overly sweet (I like to taste my liquor). Beautifully presented. The food is way better than normal bar fare. I got the Dublin Lawyer which had shrimp, lobster, and gnocchi in a cream sauce with a kick. It went down fast and wasn't overly filling. My partner got the Chi Kan Bang with drunken beans. The beans were spicy and had a chili powder seasoning. They were tasty and fresh. The sandwich was good and could have been saucier. They have sad Saturday's and Friday cry-day they play emo/screamo/metal music on these days If it isn't a phase for you (if you know you know) def check this place out on one of these days. We came in on a Saturday and they had a beautiful playlist of old emo rock Bands that we were jamming to as we were eating our delicious food. Our server Tyler was great and attentive. We spent a long weekend in Old Colorado City/Manitou Springs and one of our primary reasons for the trip was to try the food. Alchemy was by far the best restaurant we tried on our trip. Alchemy is quite a bit smaller than I expected - just an old bar with maybe 10-15 tables in the dining area. Its a dark and moody bar of the kind you see a lot in Colorado's foothills/mountain towns. As you can see in the photos, we decided to order several entrees and share everything "family style". We did this because there were so many appealing items on the menu that we really couldn't make a solid decision. Everything we tried was great. Literally the only thing we tried that we didn't absolutely love was the cauliflower soufflé that came with the Tri Tips dish but even that was quite good. The stand out was the Dublin Lawyer which had a thick, spicy and rich sauce and was loaded with seafood. Our server was really fun to interact with and clearly knew her stuff. She made sure our drinks stayed full without being overly obtrusive, which I always appreciate. Alchemy was so good that my partner said he'd be willing to drive down to the Springs just to go there for lunch then drive us back home to Aurora same day. read more

However the LGC dinner was what stole the show. LGC is a Lamb Green Chile the is absolutely amazing. It's so good that I came back two days later to have another go. Try the appetizer salmon plate! It was delicious and fresh-tasting. We were surprised at how fresh the salmon tasted, Colorado being a land-locked state and us being from California. They smoke the salmon in-house too. It says it has lavender flavor in the description but I did not find the lavender flavor to be too strong. We had the pleasure of sitting next to the executive chef, Jeff (sp?), during our meal. He was happy to give us several food and drink recommendations. I tried the drink (now have forgotten the name) with coconut vodka, cilantro, and sriracha - I thought the flavor combo was so strange hit it was SO good. I really enjoyed the flavor combo. Jeff said that was inspired by a soup with similar flavors. Let me tell ya - it works! We also tried the fish and chips. Fish was good. Chips - undercooked in the middle. Mac and cheese lacked flavor in my opinion, but to be fair, I have had some truly spectacular macaroni and cheese. I prefer a creamy texture; this one was more starchy. I told Jeff my feedback, which he graciously accepted and thanked us for it. We finished our meal by sharing a drink with Jeff, and I found it really special. I felt like a regular even though it was my first time. The waitstaff, bartenders, and Jeff were very personable and I would return if I was in Colorado Springs to be around the people again. read more
