Swish Dental has been my dental office in Austin for a few years now and I really appreciatte the opportunity to rotate between their Domain location and downtown site. There is complimentary parking for your visit and once you go into the lobby you'll see their dental practice to the side. The experience from A-Z is so nice and it feels really light and refreshing. From being offered a boujie bevvie from sodas to flavored sparkling waters and then the practice aesthetic and sessions being so intentional. It really makes a lot of sense to make the trip. They are really good to keeping in touch with your services and making sure you're doing your best to stay on schedule for your routine checkups. I've never had a bad experience and everyone from the dentists to dental hygienists have been super nice. I also come here for my teeth whitening and love the results I get every single time. read more

Swish's standard processes are flawed & they use inexperienced techs for most of the work. Example 1: Your first appointment, they will hustle you through several x-rays and scans (in lieu of contacting your previous dentist for your records). IMO, this is and unnecessary procedure and if you object, they say its parts of their standard procedure. This is so they can bill your insurance. Wheres the patient informed consent. The kicker is your first appointment doesnt include a teeth cleaning. WTF? Example 2: If you make the mistake of getting Invisalign, your $5k gets you poorly fitting trays (the fitting is done by a tech), horribly placed 'buttons' on your teeth (done by a poorly trained tech), and your teeth are not cleaned prior to the buttons being placed. net net: Do no harm? FAIL Unnecessary procedures? Yup read more

I could not begin to give this a low enough rating. They charged top dollar for a dental implant, and yet, the dental implant they stuck in the front of my face does not begin to fit in the hole left by my tooth that they also pulled. Did I mention yet that the implant fell out the day after they implanted the first time? Did I mention that it does not begin to match the color of my other teeth although I waited the extra time for the matching technology that they supposedly have? Did I mention that it took them nearly 2 years to install this implant? So, anyway, after the implant fell out, they got a do-over! And yet, again, here I am four months later and this tooth is kind of hanging out in front of all of my other teeth, and it's misaligning my formerly straight teeth. I can't get dental floss between this disgrace of an implant and the other teeth beside it. It hurts. Also, they damaged my gums so badly you can almost see the implant post going all the way up into my upper jawbone. It's a disgrace! If only I had spent this money somewhere else. Somewhere perhaps where they had an even moderately competent dentist. But I didn't. Do not go to Swish if you care about your teeth. read more

I have been coming here for over a year and always have a pleasant experience! I grew up never enjoying going to the dentist, but Swish Dental makes the experience so warm, that I almost enjoy coming in for my cleanings. They use pretty high-tech equipment and I like that they are very text-savvy - they will personally text you if they have earlier openings to see if you want to come in earlier. Their communication is awesome, from instructions on where to park, COVID precautions, and the check in process. All of the staff are beyond friendly and do a great job at explaining things, and overall making sure your time spent there is enjoyable (as it can be at the dentist). They play Netflix TV shows while working on your teeth and they are very upfront about costs (I get fluoride each time) which I really appreciate. read more

Complete scam. Misdiagnosed me, told me I needed like 8 fillings and upon second opinion I'm completely fine. They wouldn't even give me a basic cleaning without asking me to go up my insurance and then book separate appointments for one half of the mouth each. This place is for sheep. They numb you with Netflix and branding. Everyone should be finding a holistic dentist who uses ozone cleaning, and will show you your mouth biome under a microscope. I came in for a cleaning (my first one post-pandemic!) in May 2021. To be clear, I liked the staff and was satisfied with the cleaning itself. They answered all my questions, seemed knowledgeable about their work, and the space was clean and well-appointed. However, I felt pressured into paying out-of-pocket ($95) due to what they said was moderate/severe gum inflammation. When I asked if it was possible to perform a regular cleaning first, I was told no (i.e. either pay or leave immediately). I was also informed that fluoride application would cost $25, which I declined. As part of the intake process, in addition to the standard x-rays, Swish also tried to create a 3D model of my teeth. The process was really uncomfortable, verging on painful. I asked them if it was actually necessary. When they acknowledged that it wasn't, I asked them to stop and they did. Their practices seem pretty aggressive compared to my previous dentists in San Francisco. When I left, I resolved to find a new dentist, despite Swish being in a super convenient location for me. I had to switch dentists after moving from Reno to Austin and Swish made it super easy for me. The nicest thing was that they checked my insurance before coming to make sure everything would be covered and reached out to me to let me know it was denied (I got a new insurance and filled it out wrong). This gave me time to fix it and for them to recheck it before I even came in so that it was all figured out. On top of that the staff was awesome and the place was very welcoming! read more

Loved most of the staff and my dentist was very friendly but the front of house receptionist has been very rude and not great at communicating. I was originally quoted a certain amount for my treatment plan that included all the work that I was getting done. I paid for half of it on my first visit. The second time I went, the receptionist was about to charge me for the full amount again until I let her know that I had already paid for half. She looked at my account again and agreed with me. That alone just felt like such a scam. Then I was told I would still have to pay for a filling that was included in the treatment (which I thought I already paid for) None of the communication was great at all. I asked for my file and an itemized receipt and it still has not been sent. Would maybe just recommend a different location since the team here just doesn't work together well. read more

I'm 29 years old and this was by far the most painful cleaning of my life. I take good care of my teeth and have never had a cavity. I know that cleanings are typically maybe a bit uncomfortable but this cleaning was legit PAINFUL. Like had a tear running down my cheek type of pain. I scheduled a teeth whitening treatment online and it was super easy. They follow up with automated texts to send reminders and give you directions. They were friendly when I walked in and started right on time. I was able to watch Netflix on a TV that hangs above you while getting treatment. Overall 5 star experience. read more

Staff is sweet and overall the experience was fine. Mobile paperwork is very invasive. The appointment was also excruciatingly long! I arrived at 8 AM and left at 9:55 AM. There were 5 different people involved in my visit.. very confused because it's normally 1 dentist and 1 hygenist. My understanding is that the previous hygienist is going to take some time for additional training before treating more Swish patients. (Apologies in advance for the length of this, I'm pretty miffed about Swish) My wife and I switched dentists because of an insurance coverage issue. Both of us had been going to our previous dentist for 10+ years. We did not want to switch, but needed to. My wife was told, after not having a cavity her entire adult life, that she had four cavities, which were "diagnosed" and they rushed her in the next day for fillings before she even had a chance to discuss this with me. I went in and was told that I had periodontitis, needed a couple of crowns and a few other things. This condition was going to require a deep cleaning, that they wanted me to have done immediately, and I was going to be out of pocket pushing $1k. There were also fairly serious scare tactics about catching this disease from someone, or giving it to someone, and "did I know about the link to dementia". Well, after 10 years of a very clean bill of health with my other dentist, and no other signs of peridontitis, I decided to call my old dentist, who agreed to see me for free based on this experience. They confirmed for me that, no I did not have this condition, and I was doing quite well, thank you. This practice appears to be a factory looking to crank out as many procedures as it can. I have been going to the East Austin Swish location for 4 years. Last December I was told I might need a root canal and would be referred to someone who could make that decision. There was a clinical sign that I told the dentist has been coming and going for several years this was just the first time the dentist had seen it. The dentist did not seem to care that it had been around for years. I was shown an x-ray and told there might be something going on that would warrant the root canal. I could not see anything different on the x-ray so I was confused about what I was being shown. I am a nurse so I've seen a few x-rays over the years. When the dentist left the room he told me to get that old crown replaced while you are having the root canal done. That made me think I was not going for an evaluation to see if I need the root canal but it was already decided I would get it whether I needed it or not. Since I had no pain and the clinical sign was not new I did not go for the eval. My visit in June was very odd. For years I have my teeth cleaned then the dentist examines the cleaning and performs the checks dentist make. I have X-rays made once a year. I had X-rays only 6 month earlier so I was surprised when I had X-rays taken as soon as I set in the chair. I was given no explanation of why the X-rays were being taken at 6 months. The dentist came in and did a very quick exam and stated there was a small cavity under and old filling and that I needed a crown. It felt very much like you did not get the root canal so I'm going to find something. The hygienist then cleaned my teeth. She seemed very rushed and did not do a good job. She tried to squirt water in my mouth a couple of times for me to rinse but kept hitting my lips instead of my open mouth. She asked if it hurt my gums and I told her she kept hitting my lips not my gums. Out of frustration I finally told her to stop that I did not need to rinse. After the cleaning the dentist never returned to check the work of the hygienist. I decided that I needed to find a new dentist that was not part of a corporate chain like Swish. I felt I needed a second opinion on the root canal, old crown replacement and the new crown to fix the cavity under the old filling. My new dentist is incredibly different than what I experienced at Swish. We had a long conversation about the root canal and clinical sign. She took new x-rays which showed there was no reason to get the root canal. She also confirmed there was no reason to have the old crown replaced. She also took a lot of time to show me there was no cavity under the old filling and that I would not need a crown on that tooth. My new dentist did explain to me what my future care would look like so I would know what to expect in upcoming visits. I found it very frustrating at Swish that I had to ask for my next appointment be written down when I left the office so I could put it on my calendar. Instead Swish sends messages before your appointment that you will be billed a no show fee if you don't keep the appointment. I also found it frustrating that I had to ask for an itemized receipt, which I need for taxes. Their standard is to give no receipt. In the four years that Swish provided dental care. I had a new crown and a bridge replaced. My new dentist did say that Swish did a very good job with both the crown and bridge. Cassandra, the office manager at Swish, was very polite when I told her I was going to find a new dentist. She emailed me a copy of my dental records and x-rays. After using Swish for 4 years I have mixed feelings about the practice. I had a problem with the temporary crown while waiting for the permanent crown. Swish was very prompt to resolve that problem. I've had no problems with the crown in the 4 years its been in place. I did get tired of the threatening texts about no show fees. I got tired of asking for an itemized receipt and for a card with my next appointment date. Almost every visit it was mentioned I might need a root canal which felt unnecessary and pointless. After 4 years Swish no longer works for me. I am happy with my decision to find a new non-corporate dentist and to get a second opinion. read more

My first time at a new dental office in awhile and my experience was exceptional! The hygienist, Sam, was AMAZING!! I even got a little free marriage advice from him throughout my cleaning appt! I was so scared to go to the dentist as I hadn't been in a VERY long time. BUT I will say Jerry the dental hygienist came to my rescue! She was so thorough and took me through by step what she was going to do. I felt so comfortable it made me want to stay forever (just kidding but seriously she was the best). My husband and I both needed a new dentist after Covid lock downs and selected Swish Dental - East. We were very pleased with our initial visit. The staff was all friendly and were very good at explaining what they were doing and why. The dentist explained what she was finding and discussed her recommended plan of care. The office staff presented us with a written plan of care that outlined our costs in detail. We are self pay so were interested in their subscription plan that helps pay for costs of cleaning, x-rays and exams. Costs with the subscription plan are much lower than some of the independent dentists I have evaluated before choosing Swish. We have scheduled a cleaning appointment and I will update this review once that has been done. read more

I had an exposed nerve that started to seriously hurt at work recently, and I needed to get evaluated ASAP. I walked in, filled out the new patient form, and got a thorough examination with what appeared to be state-of-the-art equipment.The office was bright and cheery, very clean, I was immediately put at ease. The staff could not have been more accommodating, and I was on my way in a remarkably short time, the dentist having addressed all my questions and concerns. I feel so fortunate that I found Swish, tooth pain being a serious issue that requires immediate attention and I didn't have a family dentist I could call. The environment is good and most staffs are pretty nice. However the doctor is clearly overbooked and I waited for half an hour. She just did a quick look at my cavity, left me without any explanation about her treatment plan and told the nurse to book more appointments for me. It's just an Invisalign consultation but it took me nearly 90 mins and didn't give me any treatment plan. In the end, they printed out the payment form without changing the previous patient's name on it! read more
