One of my biggest regrets is choosing to go to swish dental to get my Invisalign. I had an awful experience at a place that I thought was a well oiled machine for Invisalign My final appointment was horrifically painful AND started 50 mins late and I had to stay an extra hour. Yes, my appointment was from 10-11, but it got started at 10:50 The teeth whitening was one of the most excruciating pain I've ever felt. I was actually wondering if it was suppose to feel like torture. Apparently, my mouth guard wasn't in place and while I was left to my own device, I was also suffering away as my gums burned and burned. I wish someone, anyone had just preface - that BURNING is not normal. I was almost in tears by the time I jump out of my seat and nearly ripped off the mouth guard, and whimpering before the tech came to check on me. My bottom gums were all either bleached white or burned. Invisalign is a huge investment - my invoice 7k or over from Swish and I really think that your local dentist could do it for cheaper (the discounts/deal isn't great bc they have such a high mark up), and you probably won't be tortured and left with WHITE GUMS after a simple whitening. read more

What is wrong with healthcare in this country? Why don't they respect our time? Often have to wait to be seen by the care provider even with an appointment, and we get charged if we miss it but there is no repercussion if they make you wait. We don't have endless time to sit around. Came in for a crown replacement and literally sat in the dentist chair for 30 minutes waiting for numbing to take effect. They said dentist got caught up doing something else (which I thought meant like 5 minutes) and didn't show up for another 25 minutes! Before proceeding with the operation Service really needs to improve. People have lives and can't just sit around waiting all day. read more

Review for Swish Dental - Bee Cave, Austin, TX I've been a patient at Swish Dental, but my recent experience has been disappointing. Some of the front office staff come across as rude and act as if they run the place. I was promised that my order would be ready on 3/27, and while I understand delays can happen, the real issue was the complete lack of follow up. I specifically asked to be contacted--whether the order arrived or not and that never happened. I've been dealing with Edna at the front desk, and even after paying half of the total cost upfront, I still received no update. This is not acceptable customer service. These young office staff members would benefit from proper customer service training. Do not recommend. I was at this practice for about a year. In that time, I found the billing and insurance related items to be extremely problematic. Messy. Can't give you a paid statement, just a running tabulation of everything you've ever paid. I ended up leaving this practice at the end of 2023 due to this. I decided to max out my FSA benefit on a night guard before I left and it was the end of the calendar year. I received the estimate, I paid up front for the charges. It was delivered in early 2024. All fine. I moved on but ultimately ok with Swish despite some of the hiccups. Fast forward to end of September 2024 -- and I get a random bill for $300+. Like, why? Why did it take 10 months? Why does it exist at all if we took into account the estimated insurance coverage ($0) and that I was self-paying so I could be reimbursed with my FSA? AND THEN PAID UP FRONT FOR IT, achieving a zero balance. Avoid at all costs. Literally, all the costs. Being able to watch Netflix while you get your teeth cleaned is nice but this operation is not customer-first and the backend accounting is pretty horrible, as has been the customer service trying to get it sorted out. read more

Almost every single appointment I had here was cancelled within a hour of the appointment time. Now if I do this, I get charged a fee, but they think it's acceptable to continually cancel appointments with little notice. They are clearly overbooking clients to make as much $$ as possible. That's one major issue is that they do not respect their customers time. Anyways, I went in for a cleaning, doctor told me I had 4 tiny cavities that she could fill at once. Came back, had them fill all 4 cavities, for her to tell me the cavities were huge, so it took forever. They took x rays so I'm not sure why she thought they were tiny at first. Since I had these cavities filled my mouth has been in extreme pain on the left upper and lower sides. I went back and the doctor was annoyed saying it's my fault because I grind my teeth. She filed down my teeth more saying that should help. Well it didn't, so I went back again but requested a different dentist. This dentist ended up giving me a prescription for fluoride and said that should help. Well guess what, it's months late and I'm still in extreme pain. It's very obvious that something went wrong when the original doctor did my fillings. Before the fillings I had 0 pain and now I can barely eat or drink on that side of my mouth. Doctor told me there's nothing they can do besides the fluoride, so now I'm seeking a new dentist with a new place. I am still in a ton of pain to this day, and nothing has been done to fix this. I will never go back to swift dental, they are inexperienced doctors and staff, and they could care less about your health, all they care about is what's in your pockets. read more

It's honestly laughable how this place just REFUSES to ever answer the phone. I'd say 3 times out of 10 they actually answer and you're likely going to have to speak with someone with a nasty attitude. Extremely hard to get ahold of, even for something like paying a bill. I have to call numerous times if I want to schedule an appointment, request x rays, or just ask a basic question. And typically when someone does answer it's their rude receptionist who I believe is named Michael. Most recently I asked Michael to send me my treatment plan and he basically told me straight up "no" and to find it in my email. Me being someone who doesn't favor arguing, I told him ok thanks and that was that. Couldn't find it in my email. Called back and a woman answered the phone, I told her the situation and she was totally fine to send me not only my current treatment plan but the one from last year as well. So not only was Michael rude but also just lazy. Good to know. Won't be coming back here not necessarily because of the actual work they do but because of the negligent deskstaff. Bad experience, I was given an insulting,"Ma'am!" when I corrected the dentist on how the chip in my tooth happened. Then I was pressured to sign a contract for teeth straightening ("this is only available for 24 hours!") before they would fix the chipped tooth. It felt -and was -very scammy. I went to another dentist who had no problem fixing the chip and was also supportive of the idea of straightening- but not pressuring. It was awesome to get access to follow up care quickly and they were able to make some small adjustments while I'm waiting for my bridge that made all the difference in my level of discomfort! read more

Stay away. Every time you walk in the door they find some new BS reason to charge you more money or make up some issue you have with your teeth. Their membership is complete BS as well. After paying the $300 membership fee, they then informed me at my cleaning appointment that they can't do a regular cleaning on my teeth and made up some BS charge of an additional $270 and told me I can't even get the basic cleaning, which essentially made the membership I just paid for completely useless. I told them I wanted a full refund and they refused so I did a charge back on my credit card. Stay away from these shady crooks. read more

I confirmed my appointment via the text messaging system and received a phone call two days later that my appointment is not actually available and their online system had an error. Mixed feels. I signed up for their pre-paid membership as I can't get on my companies dental until open enrollment. My first appointment: They pushed me out for 3 months, I finally get to the appointed time, and they're like "Oops, we were supposed to cancel your appointment." I'm like, "You've got to be kidding me, I scheduled this 3 months ago!" They say, "Ok, we'll squeeze you in." Squeeze me in?!!! I didn't wan't to wait 3 months, and they intended to cancel?!!! So, the appointment is about normal, but due to the length since my last dental, they tell me they need to split my appointment into 2 - so this will cost me beyond what I paid in my membership. They also neglected to give me the teeth whitening I requested. Appointment 2: Was SUPPOSED to happen this morning. I get a text last night, "Sorry, we have to cancel" Again?!!!! I've literally never had this from any doctor or dentist office in my life. TWICE you want to cancel on me? Once I get my dental insurance in November, I doubt I'll come back. Honestly, it's like they never want to actually let people come in at their appointed times. No complaints about dentists or hygienists so far, but the scheduling is the worst I have seen in my 40 years of life. read more

I'm sure it's not exclusive to Swish, but the transformer-like TV screen that they move above your face as you lie down for your treatment might just be the best thing since sliced bread! I need one of these for my bedroom! The staff I encountered, the facility, the cleaning, the thoroughness of my first visit (all the X-rays and explanation of what they all showed), and the little traveling pouch they give you upon exit definitely warrant 5 stars. I went back for a teeth whitening and that was equally as smooth of a process from start to finish. Their communication methods are a little intense/overboard, but I'm sure I can adjust my settings somewhere to hear less from them, but one thing is for sure, you will be reminded about your appointment about 60 times and be asked to review them before even walking out the door (a pet peeve of mine, but I know it's an automated service they prob use). It will either give you anxiety OR you'll appreciate their tenacity! read more

Dr Tu has been super patient with me. I have extreme white coat syndrome with dentists, but this office is extremely patient and accommodating, helping me feel calm and at ease. They go above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comforted. For some like me going to a dentist is super tough, even though I know it's in my head, the staff here have been nothing but kind, and compassionate. Dr. Tu was also the first dentist to actually show my my own mouth and what's causing me issues, and recommend multiple options to remedy. For all the anxiety issues I have, this clinic has been ideal. Great folks all around, from the techs, to the receptionists. Everyone is A+. Let's be honest, nobody *wants* to go to a dentist, but the amazing folks here make taking care of your mouthbones a pleasant experience. I'm glad I found this spot, and will be glad to continue to come back for all my routine maintenance of my facehole. read more

If I could give this location 0 stars I would. The receptionists at the front have absolutely NO CLUE what they're doing. Completely ruined my first dental experience in Austin. They advised me my coverage " only covered people under 26 years of age". Then she quoted me $900 for a cleaning. I called my insurance company and the agent advised me that Swish was in my network and I get TWO FREE CLEANINGS per year. They also advised me that whoever told me they only cover people up to 26 years of age was deeply mistaken. read more

I have been here twice for teeth whitening and it was an awesome experience! I work as a technician at an Optometry office and so I know what it looks like to provide great patient care. As soon as I walked in, they greeted me and offered me a beverage. The office is a part of an apartment complex so it might be a little difficult to find. It is very clean inside and full of art pieces. Before you enter the exam room, the tech shows you around the office and helps you feel comfortable. The teeth cleaning experience was also great. They have a small TV that will go over your face and you can watch any show on netflix while they are working on your teeth. The exam rooms have no doors and so you can hear people walking in the hallways and it is not too claustrophobic. I wish I lived in Austin to make this place my permanent dentist. I recommend this place to anyone who is in need of a trustworthy dentist. read more

I went in for an emergency visit as my regular dentist doesn't work on Fridays. They were helpful to schedule me on a Friday. And the assistant who took films was friendly. But then the care ceased. The dentist, Diana, was incompetent. She said she ordered antibiotics but the pharmacy received no order. I asked questions about an issue and she had no depth of explanation. I also left a message on the emergency line and received no return call. Then they called and asked to reschedule the next appointment made for the next business day. In short, I would stay far away. They helped me layout a proper treatment plan that works for me and helped me plan and schedule it all that day right after my visit. I'm also a FFD convert - new year, new insurance .. what can you do?! I'm happy that I gave Swish a try because they are outstanding. Convenient location down South, free parking and a wonderfully helpful staff to greet you. While I think I would give this place a 4 - 5 usually - it's their incredible customer service today that earned them a 5 and made them my new go-to! Before I launch in, I think it's important to note that this place is fully-loaded with cool gadgets giving you 360s on your chompers, desirable amenities such as Netflix, plush blankets, eye masks etc. Whether you want to binge or relax - they've got you covered. I went in for a cracked filling and sure as heck it popped right out while she was flossing. They immediately moved into action to make sure I was comfortable and get the doctor in to speak with me. He let me know after looking at my x-rays (which he walked me through) that I was in dire need of a root canal. Womp-womp...that sucks. Here's the kicker, I leave for a trip abroad in just over one week. The staff immediately got on the phones and called all of their trusted root canal specialists. In under 10 minutes they had contacted everyone, got me a next day appointment and already submitted my insurance information. Root canals suck and having to call around to get the fastest appointment possible sucks more. Swish went above and beyond to make a bad situation as best as it could be. Unfortunately this experience looking for a new dentist in austin was a waste of time , over the phone I told them we were very orally healthy we do our cleanings regularly and only needed that service for me and my husband, they said a cleaning plus X-rays would be around $180, my husband had to take the first appointment since he is time limited due to work schedule, he has insurance he said for the X-rays and "studies" they were marking it would've been $600 , and they could not do a cleaning in a visit because he needs two visits and this would be around $400 dollars! That his insurance didn't cover , I think it was outrageous they lied to us from the beginning and expecting a healthy 30 year old with an 8 + hours job to schedule two cleanings, two different appointments and pay over $500 dollars for it.... The ethical practices at Swish Dental are concerning at best. After seeking a second opinion at another dental office due to seemingly excessive costs included on Swish treatment plan, my concerns were confirmed. Not only was my bill padded with unnecessary treatments, I was informed by the second dentist office that Swish erroneously billed my insurance for a cleaning that had never been provided. After calling Swish in attempt get clarity and in hopes this was a simple error, the office manager Chris, said the office visit notes confirmed that the hygienist completed a cleaning. I explained to him I never saw a hygienist and that only an exam had been performed. I had him confirm that my cleaning was scheduled for December 1st and canceled via a text which was responded to the same day. He confirmed he could see the cancelation, but unable to explain the premature and incorrect billing to my insurance. He said "upper management" would be contacting me. I still have not received a call. Unable to resolve the issue, I contacted my insurance company who has made several attempts to contact the front office and billing, without success. The insurance company informed me they not only billed for a cleaning but fluoride that also was never provided. The best case scenario is that they incorrectly documented in my chart and by accident they billed my insurance. Worst case, this is fraudulent and without a call from "upper management" a formal grievance with my insurance company will need to be filed so that I can receive the care that I sought. read more

The staff doesn't return calls. After weeks of trying to contact someone at the office to help me, I finally received a call back from the manager. He wasn't able to help me and said he would need to speak to his boss first. He promised me he would call me back within a week. It has now been 2+ weeks since that conversation. At this point I don't know how to get the information I need in regard to my ongoing Invisalign treatment. Yet, I have continued to receive bills. It has been 2 years since I have been able to get back on track with caring for my teeth since being laid off due to the pandemic. Find any medical provider in Texas has been challenging, but being at Swish Dental was a breeze! They are transparent, professional and thoughtful! I have had traumatic experiences in the past going to the dentist and they were keen to making sure I was confortable and put at ease through my entire visit. I'm new to Austin but a forever fan of Swish Dental. My first office visit was seamless from beginning to end. From the check in experience, actual office visit, and checking out, I felt that every aspect of the patient experience was thoughtful addressed. Shoutout goes to my dental hygienists, Adi and Amy! Adi cared for me during my first visit and took the time to explain every step from taking my X-rays to taking my dental impressions. Amy helped me out when I came to pick up new night guard and thoughtfully answered all my questions. Dr. Nessler was fantastic during my visit. She took the time to give me a detailed explanation of the current health of my teeth and walked me through my dental treatment plans. I forget the names of the receptionist and gal who helped me with my billing questions but they were equally as wonderful. I had made a mishap in not filling out new patient paperwork but the receptionist was able to assist me with patience. The gal in billing was so detailed oriented in explaining my insurance questions to me at the end of the visit. Just moved to Austin this year for school and needed to find a regular dentist! I found Swish on Yelp and decided to trust all the reviews--and I'm glad I did! It's super clean and a great atmosphere, they definitely want to make sure you are comfortable with TVs and complimentary mouthwash and toothbrushes in the bathroom! Everyone is super friendly and it didn't feel like a hostile environment at all! Everything is very efficient and simple and I didn't have to wait at all! Both Dr. Patel and her assistant were super nice and explained everything and made sure I was comfortable. And my teeth feel super clean!! Definitely recommend coming here!! read more

Woohoo! All the perks (and more) I look for in a dental office! Location: This office is located conveniently right off Ben White on South 1st on the right side of the street at the The Tree House apartments. The check-in was simple! Luckily they sent me all the new patient forms to fill before my first appointment so I filled it out conveniently at my own time and online. I loved that they already verified my insurance details prior to my appt and they were very knowledgeable of my dental benefits. There were some recommended procedures that would not be covered from my insurance until after 2018 and they worked with me to start procedures that would be covered and not pay out of pocket fees! I really appreciated that they put me as a client first (my financial concerns) rather that trying to hit my with all sort of 'hidden charges' THANK YOU!!! Staff: Like whoa! Everyone is very knowledgeable around the dental industry, even the front staff! I went in to do the teeth whitening Opalescence Boost teeth whitening and it was less stressful experience than I figured it would be! Everyone in the office was calming since I seem a bit nervous of getting the procedure done for the first time. This is an overview without having yet used the product. Swish recently had an Open House and gave everyone tours while answering questions. Each room had a different team in it to help describe the process from beginning to end and let us know what all is available as a Swish customer. I have had teeth whitening done before - home kit - and had incredibly sensitive teeth afterward. The way Swish products work there are guards put in place to ensure that you do not have sensitive teeth/gums from the experience. Also, while the procedure occurs you have the option of all kinds of music, games, Netflix to keep you occupied. There are actual dentists and dental assistants, this is not a place with some random person trained to assess you by Swish standards and was given free reign with your teeth. You can actually get your teeth assessed and Invisalign done to correct your teeth. They have other options regarding Invisalign products or mouth/teeth scans for any oral problems you may feel self conscious about. Everyone I met was incredibly kind and fun and had thorough knowledge of all of the products available and what options may be best for me to try. I plan to get my teeth whitened the minute after my next teeth cleaning! read more

Let me just start by saying the dental staff are super sweet and accommodating. I love them, they're great ...But the office staff and general operations of this place are terrible. I opted to do the membership with Swish only to find out I would rarely be able to book my cleanings covered by my membership fee at this location. Also, if you book an annual visit with the dentist - be prepared that your cleaning appointment IS NOT INCLUDED in scheduling. Meaning they want to you to come back for a cleaning - as if getting out work wasn't hard enough. I was a member for 2 years and likely used half, if that, of my member services. If you want a cleaning appointment within a reasonable time, you have to call weekly for a last minute cancellation. Overall - great dental staff but their operations have a way to go. read more

For me, dental appointments are never fun. I kinda dread them. But from the moment I walked in and checked in with the friendly receptionist, I felt like this place might be alright after all. A hygienist took me to the back immediately after I checked in, had me sit in the chair and asked what I'd like to watch on tv. The cooking show that was already on looked fun and took my mind off things. The hygienist was sweet and took down some info and did my x-rays. The dentist came in soon after and listed attentively to me discussing the issue at hand. She gave me great feedback and referred me to the endodontist at one of their other locations for a dreaded root canal. If that location is anything like this one, I know I'll be just fine.
