I was lead into an open room that had 3-4 dental stations separated by 4 ft partitions. At the time , there was me and another female patient 2 partitions down. As the dental hygienist was preparing to examine my teeth , I could clearly overhear the dentist discussing the dental issues this female patient was having. As an RN, we were always trained not to openly discuss a patients health issues in an area that other people can possibly overhear. HIPAA confidentiality laws are very strict about this. After he spoke with the female patient next to me , he proceeded to my dental chair and looked at my xrays. He spoke in an over dramatic fashion exhibiting a dread on the condition of my teeth. "Do you really want to hear this?" He proceeded to list the problems he felt was serious and the costly solutions to rectify it. I couldn't help from thinking that now the whole office (and the female patient nearby) was privy to my dental health issues. He concluded that amongst other things , I have periodontal disease. At that point, he got up and walked away while the hygienist started to put away her instruments and motioned me out of the chair. I asked , "aren't you going to do the cleaning?" She stated that she felt uncomfortable cleaning my teeth. Are you kidding? I took the day off to have this cleaning done. He recommended another dentist specializing in gum disease. I asked if he could prescribe a medicated mouth wash (Chlorhexidine) that helped me in the past. He complied. The mouthwash helped tremendously, so I called his office to ask if they could refill another one ,just until I make another appointment. They adamantly said no, since I was not a patient and would be required to come back to their office before they would refill the medicated mouthwash. I told them I was indeed a patient since they graciously took my money when I saw them 5 months ago. I am sure that Hutto Dental does indeed care for the welfare of their patients. Unfortunately , in my situation, that was not the case.

The whole visit felt calm and not rushed at all, and her team is just as kind and welcoming. just nowNEW I had my…read morefive unit bridge constructed and seated on 8/23/2018 by Dr. Douglas Hinh, DMD at Family Dental Center of Hutto. Prior to this, I had several bridges through the years on the same space and never had any problems. Soon after my bridge was seated it felt very uncomfortable, within days my upper molar crown came off. I told Dr. Hinh this happened because the bite on the bridge was not right. Dr. Hinh disagreed and said it was just an old crown. As I started getting adjustments, Dr. Hinh gave me a paper to sign stating if anything goes wrong from his adjustments, I would be responsible, not him. On one of the adjustment, Dr. Hinh asked me if I wanted him to file down the bridge and put the curve back like I had it on my previous bridge, when he asked me this, I did not want to be rude but I thought to myself the curve should have been created when he first constructed the bridge, thus matching the curve I have on the upper teeth. After many adjustments the bridge still felt just as uncomfortable, and there was no way I could chew on it. As Dr. Hinh did another adjustment, he would say things like you have gingivitis, and he would use a camera to take pictures inside my mouth. He would tell me if you do not bite right on the articulating paper, I cannot fix it for you. I told Dr. Hinh the bridge was damaging my other teeth, and he would get very defensive. After Dr. Hinh did not want to adjust the bridge, he told me he did not want to see me there again and said he was refunding me $900 dollars when he received proof I had removed the five unit bridge. After Dr Hinh did not want to work on my bridge, Dr. Joseph started to work on my bridge. I explained the problems and he suggested saving my bridge by adjusting it so we would not have to replace it but recommended not adjusting the back molar as it looked too thin on one side from Dr. Hinh's adjustments. Instead, he could replace the opposing crown on the upper molar which he did. As Dr Joseph adjusted the high lingual area I felt a big relief but as the Dr. Joseph was trying to save my bridge it became loose, and he did not want to work on the loose bridge. He recommended I go back to Dr. Hinh. So I asked Dr. Hinh if he could work on my loose bridge and he declined, stating that, "You have been released as a patient." After I got declined by Dr. Hinh Dr. Joseph was very nice and suggested I wait a while and see if the bridge becomes more loose and he could take it off and recement it, but my bridge was not getting any looser and it was getting more and more painful. With the pain I was having to take more meds, and at the end the meds were not working so I had to remove it. I could not get in with Dr Murphy so I went to Dr Dawson to get the bridge removed. I have updated Dr Hinh asking for the refund of $900, as I gave him proof. However, I'm not getting email replies from him. All this should have been taken care of by Dr Hinh but he just did not want to take responsibility and made me feel as if I was the problem. I have replaced three crowns and hsd one root canal and still need to replace two implants as recommended. It has been a very bad experience and I wanted to warn everyone to be very cautious with Dr. Hinh.

The experience with Dr. H and his incredible supportive and kind staff could not be more different then any previous experiences I've had. All of the staff and Dr H listened and we came up with a plan to help my anxiety as well as I hated can do to ensure I received enough anesthesia. They were respectful and understanding about the whole thing. So far I have had a root canal, crown and a few fillings and I am very pleased with the work. It was done quickly, gently and seems to be executed very well. I would recommend them to anyone!
