While in Santa Cruz for an event, I did some gluten-free research and found Switch Bakery. It's conveniently located near a public parking garage, though street parking in the area can be a bit of a challenge. I arrived close to closing, so the selection was limited, but I still managed to snag two packs of treats. The orange vanilla scones were a highlight- soft and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. They'd be perfect warmed up with a drizzle of orange blossom honey. I also tried their plain muffins (spongy and light!), which are a great base for honey, butter, or jam. Definitely a solid find for anyone looking for dedicated gluten-free options in downtown Santa Cruz!

I don't remember the name but it was recommended by the barista

Phenomenal drinks Their baked goods look good but I did not get a chance to try one today. Well put together good vibes. Helpful baristas

I'd recommend their tuna salad, their pesto pizza, and their chocolate chip cookies.

Two words: YUM-MO!!!!…read more Laili dishes were flavorful, varied and layered; decor was nice without being snooty; and the service was the right amount of attentiveness. We were a large group of people who hadn't seen each other in a long time, so we had a lot to catch up on, and we also were not able to get there earlier than 1 hour from closing time. Laili not only accommodated us, but also allowed us to stay there over half an hour after closing when they were done cleaning around us! They were incredibly generous with their time and space. Tip: The dining room was very spacious, so I think Laili would be perfect for large groups.

This was the first time coming here!!…read more we got SO LUCKY, because the wait was like 2 hours or something, but the host found us a seat OUTSIDE after about 10min wait and I recommend the garden patio it's so GORGEOUS. there's heat lamps too in case you forgot your jacket in the car they give you a giant pita and dip to nibble while u wait for your entree which is lovely Aushak dumplings and all of the sauces are completely DELICIOUS Cilantro Caesar salad is fantastic, i've never had caesar with cilantro before and i have been convertedd, however if you like your shrimp deveined, do not get the $18 add-on.... because they do not devein them... also, they may ask what temp for your filet mignon kebob, but we def did not get the requested temp, so uhh proceed with caution!! i would give another star if this experience wasn't so expensive LOL :D

The cinnamon rolls are what draw a lot of people to this restaurant, and I would be one of them…read more Also their granola is even better than what I make, and there's enough to eat there and take some home for another meal to boot. I would rate this one right up there with the Walnut Street Cafe, which is excellent.

Tried this place out for the first time since it had so many good reviews but in all honesty, I…read moredon't get the hype. We got there about 10 am and had a bit of a wait with people continuously arriving so it's clearly popular. You write your name down and request inside or out or first available. It was a bit chilly so we opted for inside. We were seated after about 20 minutes. It's pretty small inside so the addition of the picnic tables outside is a plus. We all ordered different items, sausage and eggs, bacon and eggs and blueberry pancakes. The egg breakfasts came with a side of either toast, a pumpkin muffin or a cinnamon roll. We ordered a muffin and a roll. The food arrived fairly quickly which was good because after a 2 hour drive we were ready to grub. The egg breakfasts were pretty average in taste and portion. The blueberry pancakes however were good a good size and came with 3. I did think the pumpkin muffin was fire and my bf said the cinnamon roll was excellent so maybe it's their baked goods that are part of what makes this place so popular? I didn't think the amount of food we got was that much of a value as it was a $60 breakfast. Other downsides for me was the parking situation which is common in SC. We found a spot about 2 blocks away. Also, the bathroom is outside and in dire need of a makeover. Lastly, they don't take cards. It's cash or check only. WTH? I haven't seen a restaurant take checks since I was a kid so that's been a minute, lol. Overall I can't really see myself returning other than to get the pumpkin muffin or cinnamon roll. Maybe I just need to try something different.

This is a great spot for tacos and a staple for me every time I'm in Santa Cruz. Food is great,…read moreparking is terrible, and prices are okay but during peak hours there's a line out the door. You have to find parking maybe blocks away and walk here but it is a very good place. Also tons of offerings for food. Do not let your eyes order for you because their super taco is massive. I thought the super taco just meant it was a regular street taco with more filling inside but I was severely mistaken. It is an actual burrito size tortilla. If you want to end your day with great food and a nap, this is the place to do it

I was trying to help him out, as I'm in the hospitality business for high level profiles. He responded and told me he's an old guy, but very rude when I told him the two items and he just cut me off while I was talking . It was a chicken burrito with refried beans, no rice & carne asada fries. He also threw my receipt at me. I get it if you under pressure, but never take it out on a paying customer because you can't work well under pressure. He left a bad taste in my mouth with his bad attitude. I will not be coming back. Be kind to your customers especially i was trying to help you. Lol. The meat was overly cooked. The burrito still had rice in it. Fries were very oily. I still tipped him, even though he didn't deserve any of it. Bad service. Bad attitude.
