While in Santa Cruz for an event, I did some gluten-free research and found Switch Bakery. It's conveniently located near a public parking garage, though street parking in the area can be a bit of a challenge. I arrived close to closing, so the selection was limited, but I still managed to snag two packs of treats. The orange vanilla scones were a highlight- soft and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. They'd be perfect warmed up with a drizzle of orange blossom honey. I also tried their plain muffins (spongy and light!), which are a great base for honey, butter, or jam. Definitely a solid find for anyone looking for dedicated gluten-free options in downtown Santa Cruz!

I have no food limitations yet still found the chocolate chip cookies to be among the best I've ever tasted even among non-GF cookies.

We were hunting for a solid breakfast spot and honestly weren't sure from the outside. But the moment we walked in to a warm welcome and were seated right away, we knew we'd picked the right place. My grandson -- who can be a bit high‑energy -- was treated like a little gentleman. Seeing him enjoy himself let me actually relax and enjoy my own breakfast: a massive plate of French toast so good I couldn't even finish it. Linda's Sea Breeze Café is the kind of place that wins you over fast. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great start to their day.

Tl;dr ok for brunch…read more I came with my friends after fishing and it was decently busy on a Saturday morning. There is no parking lot so you have to find street parking nearby. We ended up ordering mostly from the specials menu and here are my thoughts: - chorizo scramble: chorizo was fine. Some of us liked the chorizo and others didn't lol. The scramble was pretty wet because of the spinach. - Mendocino scramble: lots and lots of basil in the scramble and it was quite tasty. The sundried tomatoes were a bit sweet and the portobello was cut to be nice and small bite sizes. It was lighter in flavor but I prefer that to being overly sweet - corned beef hash: was dry but tasty. The texture was very nice - eggs Benedict: "mid" lol. It was fine but there was nothing special about it. The English muffin was well toasted though - soup: today was clam chowder! Lots of clams and other ingredients but somehow did not taste the way we expected it to. On the starchier side too - cinnamon rolls: lots of hype and i think it's worth. The texture was kind of like a cuffing with lots of walnuts hiding inside. It can be a little bit dry but it comes with some butter too so that helps a lot I can imagine that the parking situation can get really annoying when it gets busier but it was fine for today. The service was great! A+ :) Would I come back? Yes. For the cinnamon roll. I dont actually like scrambled eggs so I would try something else next time

The line can get long on weekends but unlike neighboring coffee shops, it seems to move quickly and food comes out faster. Order pastries and bread at the glass case and coffee and breakfast at the registers. Coffee comes out by exit door while food comes out from the kitchen in the middle. The coffee is well balanced. Not sure whose they use but syrups are made in house. Breakfast sandwich looks small but is quite hearty and filling. You can add avocado, bacon, and aioli. This is a go to. West side avocado toast: adds garlic aioli, avocado, and poached egg to the Aptos version. Defn better Pesto goat cheese baguette: three letter review -- OMG Kouign Amann: this one is square, rather than classic round, and a little denser but still layered and not overly sweet. GF brownie: quite good for gluten free but sweeter than I like. Bacon egg galette: the puff pastry is nicely flaky with onions and crispy bacon. Messy but good. The premade sandwiches are all tasty and much better than you get in a grocery store. Customer service is a little hit and miss, based on personalities. There's plenty of seating inside and out.
