Breakfast bagel with egg frittata, provolone, avocado
Tamar L.

I ordered a Sunday morning breakfast bagel from La Marea. Always appreciate when a restaurant is on DoorDash so it can be delivered to my lazy ass. Bagel connoisseur here. I've got my bona fides. These bagels are outstanding! Good bite to the texture, tang from the sourdough, delicate air bubbles, great flavor. Egg and cheese sandwich was nicely toasted with cheese crisped at the edges, soft egg frittata, yum. Everything that came in the order was of super quality, even matcha latte tasted very refined. Bravo!!

Breakfast bagel on everything

Excellent little cafe with bagel sandwiches and coffee tucked away from the main downtown Capitola strip. They have Syllable Coffee on sight with coffee and espresso drinks- I thought my cappuccino was excellent, and definitely on par with all the other great coffee in this are (Cat & Cloud, Verve , 11th hour etc). My husband enjoyed his drip as well, but does prefer Cat & Cloud for his coffee. So let me just preface this with I am not a bagel person. I'm one of those people that avoids carbs unless it's truly worth it, and this was worth it! The bagels here are not only super fresh, but they are just different. I'd describe the interior like a denser foccacia bread, but the exterior is thick and crisp. We got one cinnamon raisin with cream cheese, and also a breakfast bagel with everything bagel. Both were amazing. The breakfast bagel comes with a frittata egg, and thin layer of avocado. they serve pizza for lunch as well, and I'd bet the dough is amazing if the bagels were that amazing. Interior is super super narrow and small, able to seat maybe 2-3 small groups.

Gluten-free breakfast sandwich.

What a quaint little cafe. I'd been meaning to stop in and finally did on a Sunday morning. To my surprise, they offered gluten-free bagels, and I ordered a breakfast sandwich with one. The sweet woman at the register said they also offer gluten-free pizza, too! I'll look forward to trying that one day. The breakfast sandwich was loaded with goodness (I added ham and avocado smash) and SO delectable. It was also quite filling. I would absolutely recommend stopping by.

Great food and kind people working the shop. It's small inside but definitely has a nice atmosphere.

Amazing bagels! Crisp and flavorful...seek out this adorable little spot! I highly recommend you visit.

When we walked in I told my wife, "What a cute little place." The lady from the couple who came in a few minutes after us said exactly the same thing, "What a cute little place." We had caraway, everything and plain bagels - 2 with smoked salmon - and these were no ordinary bagels-by-the-dozen from a big chain bakery. These bagels were charmingly misshapen, each unique and made-with-love presumably in a small-batch artisanal kitchen by people who care, and I'm guessing they may have been house-made on the premises (speculation on my part - at least they tasted like they were). So good. The cream cheese was fabulous too - definitely multiple steps up from a Philadelphia tub. My wife also enjoyed her matcha drink. The cost for the food, drink, tax and tip was a lot for bagels. But so worth it. Cute little place.

Finally some good food and coffee in the village! So stoked to have this place to walk to. The bagels, pizza, and drinks are all so good. Im obsessed. Some of my favorites: - The pistachio scone is always a must get - Riviera bagel is SO good - Carla latte - Blackberry matcha - Pizza You honestly can't go wrong here! LOVE!

Scandi bagel and an iced blackberry matcha

I love this spot! Absolutely amazing pizza, bagels and drinks. I have been a couple times and had both the Scandi bagel and a slice of the sausage pizza. Both are so good! I also tried an iced blackberry matcha which was a delightful treat! We're big fans of Jayne Dough and are so glad to see this brick and mortar spot open after enjoying many of their pop ups. Probably my fav pizza in town! Their space is cheerful and cozy with limited seating. We enjoyed taking ours down to the beach.

Breakfast Bagels, the Scandi, and Bagel with Herbed Cream Cheese
Jasmine L.

Such a cute place! I came here on a Saturday morning with my family when visiting Capitola. We tried the Persian Scone, Breakfast Bagel with Ham, Scandi, as well as a regular bagel with herbed cream cheese. My personal favorite was the scone and the breakfast bagel. Definitely a great place to to start the morning!

The bagels are delicious. I could eat them everyday. The everything, but it's a sourdough bagel, better than any other bagel I've tried!

The counter service female was very nice and helpful. The sandwich was very good and we've eaten there many times in the past. When we both sat down to eat we noticed that our sandwich hadn't been cut in half. My girlfriend went back to the counter and asked a male kitchen employee behind the counter if he could cut our sandwich in half. The sandwich was completely wrapped in paper and we did not unwrap it at all prior to asking for it to be cut. His response was extremely rude and nasty. He claimed that it was already contaminated despite the fact that it was still completely wrapped in paper. He acted like we were putting him out by us asking him to simply cut the sandwich in half. He accused my girlfriend of "contaminating" the sandwich (in his words) just by touching it despite the fact that it was handled by 2 people before we even touched it. Basically, it was his scolding condescending tone that totally turned us off to ever visiting this place again. It only takes one lazy a--hole employee to ruin a great dining experience.

The exterior doesn't do the restaurant justice. Inside, the dining room and patios are beautifully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. There's plenty of space for both small and mid-sized groups. The food was fabulous! We started with the calamari, which was honestly some of the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also ordered the seasonal Caprese (tomato stack) salad, which was incredibly fresh with a wonderful combination of flavors. Even the complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar stood out. The balsamic was so good I forgot to ask what brand they use so I could buy some for home! Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. When I ordered the fettuccine with steak, she thoughtfully confirmed whether I wanted the Gorgonzola Alfredo or the traditional Alfredo sauce. I chose the traditional Alfredo, and it was absolutely perfect. I shared it with my daughter, so the photo shows about half of the original portion. Everyone at our table loved their meals. The rotisserie chicken received rave reviews as well, although I forgot to take a photo. If the weather is nice, don't miss the outdoor patios. There's a table for six near the fireplace that looked especially inviting. I wanted to take a picture, but I couldn't get the angle without including other diners in the frame. I also tried the watermelon martini, which was refreshing and delicious, and the wine pours were generous. If you're in Aptos, this restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back.

It looks like it would be a great place for large groups. We have never been here before and were confused as to where to park. The front area has 2 or 3 spots but I don't know if they're for customers. We found a drive way that led to the back of the restaurant that is shared by several businesses. The service was great. Everyone was very friendly and our server gave us really good feedback on the dishes we asked about. Someone was always walking around filling water glasses. We sat in the back patio. It's very spacious with a lot of umbrellas to keep guests in the shade. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich. He said it was ok, but a little dry. I really enjoyed the roasted mushroom and avocado melt, but it was hard to eat. Every time I took a bit, all the other ingredients would spill out. Lol I took out some of the greens to make it more manageable. The calamari was well seasoned and the Rock Fish Ceviche was our favorite. We'll come back to try their dinner service when we're in the area.

They have a good range of…read moreoptions and unlike a lot of sandwich places, there isn't a taste of sameness across all sandwiches, most likely because they don't use the same signature house sauce across all sandwiches. I think you can make the wrong choice on your 1st/2nd/3rd visit depending on your taste, but I also think you should come back and you'll absolutely find something that 100% tickles your pickle. I've tried most of their hot sandwiches: - Noni's Pesto Chicken: this is one of my favorite sandwiches of all time. It's not very complex but for some reason the combination of flavors just is *chefs kiss*. 5* for this alone, don't fight me - Surf City Philly: can be surprisingly spicy, heavy but SO good. This is my third favorite. - Chicken Cowabunga: not that great, would skip, but I also have a whole website on fried chicken sandwich rankings so I'm picky - Vulcan Mind Melt: sounds so good on paper but it's just heavy. I would skip - Crispy Cod Wrap: I've had a bite or two of this and I thought it was pretty good but not that memorable - Pork Belly Banh Mi: this was good, and I don't usually like pork belly - Chipotle Chicken Club: also kinda heavy but I really enjoyed this! This is my second favorite. - Cubano: not particularly memorable Not a sandwich but Beer Barnacles: ugh I enjoyed this more often than I should have, sorry not sorry. 5*

I had a pastrami sandwich there once before and it was pretty good, so figured this would do. Ordered the burger combo with Lentil soup. Asked for my burger medium and when it came out it was well past that and I'm pretty sure it was a frozen patty. I have frozen patties I cook at home that are great, so guessing it just wasn't very good quality to begin with. The lentil soup was flavorless and I only had a few bites before tossing out. Seasoning, a ham hock, and some aromatics would do a lot for this soup. Left feeling very disappointed as there are a bunch of more satisfying options in the area and I chose the wrong one. As I was sitting in traffic, my stomach started feeling like I ate some broken glass or something. Obviously there wasn't broken glass in the burger, just a fitting analogy. I had stomach pains for the next few hours. This is all I had eaten in like 10 hours, so I'm positive it was the burger. The woman at the counter was friendly and the place was pretty clean. I've got a pretty iron gut and it takes a lot to make it turn. Don't think I will be going back.

(I have, no joke, walked by it dozens of times without realizing it!) I found it from seeing it on a list of restaurant participants for Burger Week. Overall, I give Pete's 3.5 stars, and here's why... **Ambiance: 5 stars** With the bright and tastefully-decorated dining room along with the multiple windows overlooking the spectacular beach, you really can't beat this ambiance! Pete's has the fine-dining vibe that's perfect for that first date, anniversary or other special dining occasion when you want some quiet and mood lighting. **Service: 4 stars** We were seated right away, even without reservations. It was a Sunday, and there was no wait or crowd. Service was quick and friendly. Mid-dinner, a server broke some glassware right behind my seat and needed us to move so they could sweep under our table and feet. They ended up moving us to a better table (next to the window) instead of having us stand there to watch them sweep. Accidents happen, and I felt they handled that well. **Food: 3 stars** Every item we ordered was delicious and fresh, and all arrived quickly. However, the menu was fairly compact, and the amount of food is even more compact. I was excited Pete's had lobster rolls (one of my all-time favorite food items EVER; $28) on their menu, so I didn't hesitate to order that along with a lychee martini. My partner ordered the bolognese ($30) and an old fashioned. We ordered the polenta as an appetizer. All of it was tasty, but oh-so-small. The cheddar polenta was like a taste test size (maybe 4 TBs), and the lobster roll was the smallest I had ever seen in my life. I didn't want to be rude, but I wanted to laugh when it arrived at our table! The lobster roll was smaller than my hand. It looked like circus food with all super tiny sizes. **Price/Value: 2 stars** You don't come to Pete's for the value because the portions are.... micro. TIP: If you have a big appetite or skipped a meal that day, I suggest going elsewhere or be ready to turn over a paycheck because you'll need to order a lot to fill up. It is worth it, however, if you fancy a light-filled room with views of the sparkling ocean and sounds of the waves crashing on the golden sands of Capitola!
