I bought a car in August. I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation in November after leaving Toyota my car starts shaking ( never did this before I took it in for the tire rotation) they told me there was erosion on my tire rod but they fixed it shouldn't be shaking anymore, the week after that I take it back in because it's still shaking and they tell me I need new tires so I get new tires and my car is still shaking so needless to say employees in the service department have no clue what they are either talking about or doing. read more

So my check engine light came on the dashboard of my Tundra. I called as soon as they opened and requested an appointment for that day, and they had an availability. Staff here was quick and very attentive to my needs and concerns. I was in an out for a service check up and electronics update within an hour. Staff was absolutely pleasant, kind and even went over diagnosis. Recommendations for new parts were brought up, but they advised it wasn't necessary right now but to definitely keep an eye out in the future. I purchased a Tundra and only had them service my vehicle for years. I was mislead by the service department regarding the lug nuts and oil plug. I was told the oil plug is stripped, but they are the only ones who work on vehicle. I was lead to believe that it would not be safe to drive with the current lug nuts on the vehicle. The next visit I expressed my previous unpleasant experience and then the service person changed his attitude. He did not explain the bill or what was recommended per their inspection. False advertisement and lied to. I thought Toyota was loyal to their customers. They advertised a Camry that was an AWD with moon roof at $29571, the Camry that I was there to purchase. The morning of my appointment I received a text saying the Camry was still available. I arrived at the dealer and drove and looked at the Camry. It wasn't the same Camry I saw online. I was told it was sold. Then they said the Camry that I was interested in was advertised the wrong price and that it wasn't an AWD. If I could rate them with no stars... it would be it! My response to the gentleman who replied to the review: The Camry I was interested in was the one that was advertised wrong. This review is for the body shop only. I took my highlander here for a tune up today. I was quoted $249 for the job over the phone. Although I was told that price included parts, it did not. Final price was $276 and some change. Not a big deal, but still shady. They did fix a recalled part for my car without charging me. The service staff was very friendly, but not fast - I waited for 5 hours. Before I left they "washed my car." By washing it, I mean "they ran a hose over it." I've included a picture of how my hood looked after the wash down. Still black and grimy. (The part where you can see the paint job below the dirt is where my 3 year old ran his finger over it. Yes, my toddler did a better job at cleaning my car.) Disappointing. I'd like a better experience in the future. read more

THANKS COVID! 2020 Pandemic continues to wreak havoc at every corner. I ordered exactly the car I wanted through Swope Toyota. I waited three months for its arrival. Toyota manufacturer unfortunately did not send what I ordered. Of 12 added accessories, Toyota manufacturer decided I only needed one of those items, and downgraded it to boot. Swope Toyota went out of their way after some collaboration to get me as close as possible to the car ordered originally. They turned a very disappointed customer into a very happy customer. Found a RAV4 online, called them, and then went to see it. After a test drive we said the right rear brake was making a "dragging" noise. Salesman wrote up the price agreement and said he would have it checked out on Monday. It was very, very cold, so we didn't spend much time checking out the car. When we returned on Monday, we bought the car. The salesman said the noise was just "rust ," and, no, he didn't have it checked out. Also we noticed the left rear wheel was noticeably out of alignment, but since we had already "bought" the car, he wouldn't even ask his manager about having it fixed; we'd have to pay for it. Legally, I'm sure they're right, but we've had customer service issues with them before and I guess I'm a little disappointed that they persist. read more

Looking back, I honestly can't be sure if it was deliberate or inadvertent on their part. But Swope Toyota is the one and only reason that I will never buy from a dealership again. The car works as I'd expect a Toyota to work. It's wonderful. But the whole experience of buying it was either a badly presented scam or a confident execution of disorganization. In any case, I walked away deeply unhappy with how I had come by this particular vehicle. Visited this dealership from out of state to look at a car that had a great price. I had specifically asked if there was any body damage and was told the only thing it may need was a wash. When I arrived my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I inspected the car. There was rear bumper damage, along with some dents and scuff marks on the fenders. I asked to speak to the manager about the situation and he/she refused to come out and talk to me. Seemed like the classic bait and switch tactic. Response: I'm not sure who the person is that decided to respond to my review. Although I have proof through email that what you are saying is either a lie, or you were misinformed. I specifically asked if there was any damage to the vehicle, including small scratches and dents. The sales lady told me there was absolutely no damage to the car. The video i was sent also did not show the damage that was on the car. She even said in the video that there is no damage, but may need a good wash. And I can promise you that there was more than just scratches in the clear coat. As for the deposit, I would have never let go of $500 unless I knew it was refundable. That was the first question I asked when the deposit was even mentioned. So to say you gave me back a non-refundable deposit is absolutely ridiculous. read more

First off, the staff there were very friendly, and they have things like free bottled water and snacks (if you get there early enough). If I rated them by courtesy, five stars all the way. Sadly, this is not a hospitality business, so on to the not-so-nice. I brought my Prius in for service because it is a daily driven car. When it was finished, my advisor called me (which was quicker than estimated, so add a half-star) to begin going over what was noticed with the car: Beginning with the rear tires, I was told that they would need to be replaced because of wear and damage. These are the same tires that I just had installed (elsewhere) less than three months ago...they still have the flash from the molding on the sides and the little nubby spikes you see on brand new tires. All I got from the advisor was a shrug when I mentioned this fact. The recommendations call for a four-wheel alignment because of this, which I understand Toyota says is technically not possible, but the suspension can be shimmed to help alignment...I'll get a second opinion on this and for sake of argument, I'll add a half-star. Now the interesting one... a recommendation to replace the steering system because of a power steering fluid seep. Again, this is a Prius which, by the time mine was built, uses no belts including for the steering system. That's electrical, and has no power steering fluid to seep out (as there seems to be missing a power steering fluid reservoir, and about five dozen forums on the internet and the manual confirm this). For the chance that the seep doesn't mean electrons are leaking from the electrical system, I will be getting a second opinion for this as well, and add a half-star for benefit of the doubt. (Never mind that though the car has a few miles on it, it's relatively new otherwise and the times it's been serviced previously--by both Toyota and non-Toyota centers--this was not mentioned. I would think that if the electrical system can't survive three to four years of use, Toyota needs to get a better option soon.) So the almost $2,000 in repairs recommended by the "technician" seem to leave me doubting the validity of what was actually found. After the shrug I received for the tire issue, I feel that it was best to not press on my questioning, part ways with this service department, and look elsewhere to take care of my vehicle. (Since Yelp doesn't allow 1.5 stars, I'll round up to 2 full.) read more

Don't try to screw me. I may be blond, but I am not an idiot. Just because you have a buy three get one for a dollar tire deal does NOT make my tires worn enough to purchase new ones after 55,000 miles!! And yes, they said I should replace them NOW. I asked them to prove it, and they couldn't. Visibly, the tires are fine and there is still plenty of tread on them by look and feel. I wasn't born yesterday. He used the tool on the tire tread which showed the tread was in the TOP of the cautionary (yellow) section, nowhere near red. A teeny tiny crack is also what he showed me. I've renamed them Swope family to Swindlers family, every location and brand of vehicle. There are so many other places to take my vehicle. My experience today with the sales group was terrible. I was sent by a salesman to the detail shop to look at a truck were I ran into the sales manager. He was not happy his sales guy sent me there but allowed me to glance at the truck. I told him I was interested and the detail guy said it would take another hour and 15 minutes to complete. I ask the sales manager to let the salesman know and that I would be back in the alotted time to drive it. When I returned they had sold it. I believe someone was being dishonest. There is no way in that amount of time the detail guy finished a customer drove it, deal cut and closed. In was raised in a time were your word meant something evidently not here. I will never come back and will not recommend anyone. And yes I have made previous Swope purchases. read more

I went into this dealership with high hopes of fair treatment and get a legitimate offer for my trade in. My Salesman was an outstanding people pleaser and did his part to make what he could happen but it was above his head, all the way up to the general manager. On their website they advertise the use of KBB for trade in values to draw you the consumer to trade your vehicle. But when you arrive they WILL use NADA which is geared towards making dealers a profit and not in your best interests at all. I went in knowing that my vehicle was not worth what I owed on trade, but that they would make a huge profit in resale, but I was willing to wrap the negative equity into the new loan on a different vehicle to achieve my goals. Instead what I got was an offer $7,000 less than fair market trade in value, yes trade in value not retail value. They tried to make an approximate 14,000-$18,000 profit taking money out of my pocket. I could have dealt with a fair offer, but that was ridiculous, and it was their best offer. I received multiple excuses of how people don't buy 2013 4x4 Duramax Diesels with 8500 miles on them and 20 inch rock star rims, a 3 inch lift and oversize off road tires in Kentucky and they would never be able to sell it (obvious sarcasm intended). I was also told that they had called the other dealers in town and they all agreed that was the best they could do. Well go figure that I call TONY BROWN CHEVROLET in Brandenburg, KY and they snatched my truck up at Fair market trade-in value and even reduced the sales price of the vehicle I purchased from them by 3k under retail to ensure I had minimal negative equity to have to deal with. Yes I had negative equity my fault my problem, but this SWOPE TOYOTA dealership would have buried me in uncontrollable debt out of pure GREED to line their pockets. Unfortunately they also went to the SWOPE DODGE Dealer down the street in an effort to get a second opinion, they of course doubled down on their Dealer families play. People here were very friendly don't get me wrong, but there is nothing worse than dealerships who are dishonest in their dealings. read more

Cant say enough positive things about this dealership. I purchase a car roughly every two years, you could say that I'm pretty experienced at this usually painful experience. I drove to another dealership in Columbia KY from Atlanta GA earlier in the day to purchase a truck, upon my arrival and inspection of the the truck, I was disappointed to find the entire underside was completely rusted, so bad that the spare tire wouldn't even stay in place. ( this isn't an old truck mind you) I decided to regroup and look around the area to see if I could find anything else comparable. I called Swope Toyota about a truck they had listed, I was immediately connected with Chance, a sales member. As you can imagine, I was not the easiest customer to deal with at first, i had reached my limit with car dealerships for the day. Chance, immediately got me the information I needed, texted me pictures of a few more angles of the truck and negotiated the price all over the phone in a matter of minutes. They kept the dealership open for me to drive the extra 1.5 hours and purchase the truck. Extremely personable and really made a bad day much better.
