Great space and beer! Solid IPA's and food trucks on site. Came here for a chill birthday and was pleased

I read where this was a younger crowd and that was right. I've been to several breweries, but this was the most partying atmosphere I've seen. They had a band playing, and the place was very packed. I think they had a small inside area, but I didn't really notice it. Once I got my beer at the bar, I went straight outside into picnic table area. Fortunately, its a large area and further back you walk, the sound from the band was not as loud, and the crown thinned out. The IPA here was excellent. One unique thing about this brewery is that you can get a glass of wine. That was a welcome break for my wife, who was ready for something other than beer. Even though it was definitely a young and partying crowd here, I didn't feel out of place. There were plenty of older people here as well. That said, I prefer something a little more laid back and not quiet so much of a party. I'll be back to see if this is always the case, or if i just caught a very busy afternoon. read more

Went to Sycamore on a recent visit to Charlotte and loved it. I tried their wheat beer with a slice of orange, and their Peak Farm brew, which was amazing. Service was great, even though the place was packed, and the food truck outside that night was southern soul food, which was a perfect match for the beer. Plenty of outdoor space, and a view of the brewery from the taproom. Decor is 'made in America' which fits in with their theme of sourcing local ingredients. Sycamore has great beer, great staff and I will definitely be back. read more

Definitely one of the better breweries in Charlotte. Had all their beer and each was unique and good.

This place sucks. Every time I've come in the bartenders seem unenthusiastic and don't have the need to know knowledge about their product. I've come in with growlers before trying to get them filled and I've been told no every time. Yet on other occasions, I've seen people get four filled at one time! They don't treat each customer with the same respect. I don't know what I have to do to be an appreciated customer here, because apparently buying their beer isn't enough. On busy nights when it takes FOREVER to get a beer, I've seen employees walk behind the bar, pour themselves and their friends a beer, sit down and drink it. What kind of customer service is that?? Aren't your guests supposed to come first? And who in their right minds lets their employees drink on the job? I've never been to a place where I see the customers get treated with such disrespect. I will never return and I hope none of you do either. read more

Sycamore Brewing has a great atmosphere with an amazing outdoor space and always clean including the vanilla scented restroom. . The staff is very friendly and takes the time to give small samples if unsure of what beer is wanted. Rare to have such good customer service now a days so its refreshing to see it still exists at Sycamore. I also witnessed many of the staff taking on other rolls like collecting glassware and selling shirts on request. Plenty of variety in selections with about 20 taps inside and 6-8 outside. Fridays and Saturdays do get pretty busy, but thats expected for a place where people like to hang out when not working. Umbrellas, ping pong tables, corn hole, friendly and fun staff and great beer. What more could you ask for.? read more

Love this place! There is so much variety. I wish there was more indoor space to escape the heat but the patio is so spacious and relaxing.

So my wife and I Decided to stop in here on Saturday because we were already close and didn't want to head back home. So we stopped in, the taproom is really nice with wooden accent walls and Edison bulbs nice it comfortable and intimate. They had two TV's one playing surfing video's from Nat Geo and the other was Mountain Biking video's. So we bellied up to the bar and they have a huge chalk board with the choices and I decided to go with the american Foxhound ale, this was nice drinkable beer with good body and not to bitter with nice undertones of caramel. Outside they have a huge beer garden with tons of picnic tables and a bunch of corn hole setups and a ping pong table. They have a outside bar mostly like for busier nights and when its cooler. They seemed to be very dog friendly they were like 6 dogs all minding there own business. They don' have food but they have a different food truck everyday all day on the weekends. So this place was definitely awesome and we will be back. read more

A day-drinker's paradise with a nice looking crowd, good atmosphere, and plenty of dogs everywhere. The beer is pretty expensive but decent (frankly.. all of these different craft breweries have about the same flavors). There's a great outdoor seating area with live music and corn-hole. Here you will find one of the most consistently well-crafted beer selections in Charlotte. Their Countryside IPA is a solid selection and makes it hard to stray into the rest of their menu though I occasionally get a flight just so I'm knowledgeable on their beer list. They've brought in wine for the ladies (which is a bit of sell out for a brewery in my opinion) but it's obviously a place to be seen, and people watch, with the abundance of tight designer jeans on the ladies and popped collars on the guys. If you don't like crowds, stay away on the weekends. VERY dog friendly but not once have I ever seen inconsiderate owners or unruly dogs. I wish I had a dog just to bring it here. I have to agree with a few reviewers on here. The ordering at Sycamore is unbearable even on a moderately busy day. I actually have left twice in March 2016 after waiting 20 minutes to get up to the bar. It's typical to have 3-4 deep waiting to order across the entire 20 feet of the main bar. You can't blame the bartenders but they do have only one speed... LAID BACK (Would you rush with an average tab of $10+ coming in every minute?). They should remove the bar stools and make sitting at the bar impossible on the weekends because it's hard to tell if someone has just ordered and leaving or if they are sitting and drinking (why you would want to sit there with a hundred people reaching over you is beyond me). But anyway, one of Charlotte's best and a must-go if you are in South End. read more

This place really confuses me. The atmosphere is great when it's not so crowded and you can actually move. It's perfect for a warm spring day and I think that is why it's so popular (along with the fun yet even more crowded events they hold). But let's be honest, the 30 minute wait to get a beer is just enough time to forget the taste of pennies they just guzzled down from their previous beer. I'm always so excited to try their new and interesting beers but always so disappointed when all I taste is metal. I usually love this place. Good atmosphere, good beer. Asked for a flight and was told they have no more flight glasses and would need to wait until others returned their glasses. There are maybe 30 people here, not very crowded. This was disappointing as I brought family from out of town to sample their beer. Epic fail ! read more

This is one of my favorite spots in Charlotte! The beer is amazing and they're always introducing new and inventive brews! I love the Salty Coconut red ale. They ran out of this beer recently because of it's popularity, but I was assured by one of the awesome bartenders that it would be back soon! This spot gets a little insane on weekends but it's still a great atmosphere! get there early to get your spot on one of the many picnic tables in their HUGE beer garden! I've found one of my favorite times to go, when I won't have to worry about the crowds, is Monday! There is nothing like getting off work on a Monday afternoon and relaxing with a nice cold beer. The crowd is light and the bar is easily accessible. i've even had the chance to grab a spot at the bar, which allows a front row seat to all the beer along with good conversation with the bartenders, whom are always so friendly and helpful. i will always be a loyal Sycamore customer and look forward to what this place has planned for the future! read more

This place is terribly disgusting. Beer is way over priced for the quality. It's like all the brewers care about is making the highest gravity beer possible without giving two thoughts about the taste of the intensity of the alcohol. Bartenders are snooty and know it alls. read more

I live within 3 miles of Sycamore and frequent many of our great breweries in Charlotte. While the beer here is fairly decent and the outdoor space is one of the best, I rarely make it a destination. Here's why: I give it 2 stars because the service is horribly inefficient with long lines on a busy weekend afternoon and the bartenders often act like they're doing me a favor when it's finally my turn. I hope that the owners recognize that the service model HAS to change when they expand and improve to accommodate Food Truck Friday. I'll go back to check it out then, but the only reason I will go in the near future is if there is a band playing that I'm interested in hearing. Otherwise, I'm happy to take my business to a brewery down the street. read more

Really cool place.. Great beer and dogs everywhere.. They even allow cats and I would really love to see a cat in a bar..

This brewery is around the corner from our office and has a great atmosphere, great patio, great beer, wine, etc. What they lack is service. I have been in four times in the past couple months and it is impossible to get waited on even when they aren't busy. The servers do not make eye contact with you and if they do it is just with a blank stare. A "Hey there, what can I get you?" or even a glance in your general direction might be nice. I was there for my final time last evening and after being ignored at the bar and seeing a server bringing drinks to a table we decided to give that a shot. After we sat down the girl that was dropping off beers to our neighboring table just walked right past us even after we said, Excuse me, miss? So we tried it at the bar again. The girl at the end of the bar just looked at us and we walked up to order and she didn't speak so I thought she might be a bar back that couldn't do drink orders. So we tried to make eye contact with the gentleman behind the bar but he was just staring off into space. Finally, I asked the girl if we could order and she said, yeah sure. We gave her the order and then she answered a phone call and we just stood there and waited while the other guy just stood there as well. Terrible. I won't be back again even though that Peach Cider was delicious. It shouldn't be that hard to get a drink!! read more

So I hate to rate Sycamore as only a 3 star rating however it really has to do with variables that many wouldn't mind working around. First and foremost, I love their beers. They have MANY options that would accommodate the beer novice to the beer connoisseur and random side note- I love their branding! Anyway, Sycamore is tucked back in the Southend area with a LARGE outdoor area featuring picnic bench style seating (I hope you like to meet people) and generally always has at least 4+ food trucks available to soak up the brews! Furry friends are totally welcome and they occasionally have live music on the weekends. Ok, now to my kind of, slight inconveniences of Sycamore- 1) They close early in comparison to most other venues, closing their doors promptly at 11pm on a Friday/Saturday. 2) If it rains, I hope you brought your ponchos because there is no where to run and hide but the small space occupied by the indoor bar and a small cafe like area off to the side. Waterproof mascara anyone? 3) Now I have only ventured into the ladies restroom but there are two stalls, so plan ahead because you'll be waiting in the infamous ladies restroom line you've seen at Theme Parks or really, anywhere women go (HA!). Otherwise, this is one of my go to places with a mid to late twenties crowd up to about the mid to upper 30's. Awesome place, awesome brews, food trucks galore.... not a bad deal! read more

Woooowwwwww.... I show up at the counter and ask If they fill growlers....I get told yes but only our own..., I say we'll that's kinda snobby....the guy says... but...our growlers are only $5.50 and we fill them for $11.. i say that's not bad let me have a flight.... my husband and I taste... the beer are decent... so I go up to get a growler... I choose boozehound... then I get told it's double the cost .... I'm like holy poo.... so your telling me it's $22... he says well it's $27 because of the growler. .. they offered another beer said it was similar and to my taste it wasn't so I said, go ahead give me the boozehound... the guy comes back and puts this PITIFUL SORRY EXCUSE OF A GROWLER in front of me.....32 oz THAT'S 2 PINTS.. that cost me $27? WHAT?...now i had already said i was paying cash but he was so fast to put that peanut growler on the counter before i could recouperate from my shock ,he already had his back to me running my card, after i had specifically said not to because i had previously stated i was paying cash... never...WOW NEVER, EVER, EVER will I EVER, go there again.... horrible misinformation, baiting, you name it... we are anti sycamore... we will stick to every other brewery that has no problem filling other growlers..THAT ARE FULL SIZE, and not midget size...and are reasonably priced, as well as taste better... only thing your paying for is the environment... you can keep it... only reason why it got 1 star was because I couldn't minus stars read more
