I've been here 5 months and I have had the worst luck. Though Keila has been helpful and helped me out a lot, I am not happy and am in tears. First month here, someone slashed my tire and I had to have people towed from my parking spot. There are always homeless going through the garbage and walking around the complex in the mornings. Then there's cat poop in my patio due to the feral cats so I couldn't open up my door until maintenance had to put new bark down. It smelled so bad! I still need to scoop poop from my patio and I don't even have cats. I bought repellent and have to sprinkle it on my patio from keeping them from popping, but they still poop! Also the shower water pressure is bad and I can't get hot water in the shower. I can get hot water in the sinks but not my shower so I take warm showers even though I let it run for 5 minutes before getting in. The people at this complex have no regard for others. They leave garbage on the ground, are loud (kids screaming and running in the hallway), leave shopping carts in the hallway, the laundry room is gross. People don't clean out the lint and there's dog hair in the washers. Who leaves extra food for people to take in the laundry room? So nasty!! Then the worst part.....roaches!!!! I am a clean person and now I'm living with roaches!!!! I did not sign up for this at all!!! I am constantly over cleaning because since the first month until now, I am seeing roaches. In my bathroom, my kitchen and spreading out to my bedroom and living room! Management sends out pest control but they make it even worse because I see more of them after they treat my place. I can't deal with this and my family won't even come over. I'm disgusted! I shouldn't have to have roaches traps in my apartment and constantly be on the lookout for roaches. I don't feel comfortable here and I don't know what else to do. If I would have known, I would have not moved here. I should have read the previous reviews and my lease is up at the end of March 2026. I gave two stars because Keila has been hella cool and trying to help and then the convenience of having the stores, banks, and doctors close by. read more

So I have officially been here for close to two years now. I don't necessarily love it, but I do like it given the location is complete with a variety of different grocers. I shop at Raley's for food and go to Washington Hospital for medical care because both establishments are community based and found in Fremont California. The locale is Paramount if you rely on public transportation to get around. However, there are some challenges. I am from California and will say it explicitly and intently... there's more investment on property upkeep in terms of appearance then there is on health and safety. Yes the mailboxes in the slab complex I stay are in tiptop shape. The newly installed gate give some sense of reassurance and compliments the new asphalt that was probably a $75,000 job. The Sycamore trees and garden work are beyond the art of a plumber's patchwork, but at the price of a rugged elevator that insidiously breaks down and misses inspections 2 to 4 months as well as a revamp parking lot that has poor lighting, which is imperative for people who are elderly or with disabilities. Pest control is a constant but as a community member, I don't mind getting my hands, dirty taking out laundry room trash and cleaning the hallway with a Hoover steam cleaner. I clean it because it's something I do out of leisure and it makes me feel good to see that same sense of comfort and safety in a neighbor's eye that I have when I go home into my place of peace. Please don't let there be another strike with the waste management company, cause that adds further strain onto the property managers that maintain this place the best as they can. From some standpoint, I think if you want your surrounding to be clean, it's on you as a community member careful what you vote for in November as there will be a proposition for Bart to add a half percent county sales tax translating into higher rents, higher mortgages, higher property taxes and higher tax on cannabis goods. Just last month I paid $60 in city tax for weed in a single transaction. After review of receipts from 2025, I spent $427.59 in California Excise taxes on weed. Do the math. If you can get 300 to 500 people (potheads) in a year (from 1 dispensary) to pay that exact amount and time that .05 or 1 percentage then calculate the amount of revenue on tax. And I need that weed. The pharmaceutical handshake the VA does to give veteran approved inertia nurses to medicate pain just ain't cutting it. Mary Jane nerves on Tap.Of course, many might make it sound minuscule that a half percent to a 1% sales tax hike isn't much of a bang to the bank, but it adds up an accelerates quickly adding strain to your budget . Something to think about if you rely on public transportation because fair hikes will be imminent even after they strike rather that measure pass passes or not. I'm voting against it. Bart is the highest paid public transportation agency in the country total compensation package wise, not even New York transportation operators make that much and they run 24 seven 365...come on now. My apologies for the Bart tangent. Cost of living is expensive and it's no joke living out here in Fremont, California. Health and safety should be an incumbent priority. I will reside here for a long-term housing. The location in serenity drew me into Sycamore Commons. Management is professional and if you mind your business don't harm any animals don't harm, elderly, the disabled, not a danger to children, a domestic violence, knucklehead, or disrespect anyone, steal goods or mess with anyone's property you'll be fine. read more

The apartment was just what I was looking for. It's a nice quite community with occasional events. Neighbors are very nice and friendly. The apartment is very nice for me and my two girls . Having lived at Sycamore Commons for more than 3 years, my experience was not too bad. I have to say in the last year I lived there, the responsiveness to my needs had gone down. Another issue has to do with the community manager having left and the agent having to serve both roles--I have yet to see that Vasona Management, the parent company owning Sycamore Commons, doing anything to replace the community manager. So too much responsibility for one person. There are some other issues that came with the ending of my tenancy at this complex, but I think those are more administratively tied with Vasona Management itself (hmmm, perhaps another review to cover that? ;-) ). Other than those detractors, I still give Sycamore Commons a three-star rating because of its location to BART/shopping/etc., my specific former apartment's location within the complex (corner spot sharing less walls), and also a relatively good overall experience over the entire time I lived there. read more

Sycamore Commons! The story of the ever elusive property manager. I tried to rent an apartment here last week but have had the most shocking experience of my rental history. Wednesday (Afternoon) - I check their website for the first time and like what I see. It says there are two studio apartments available so I call on the number put up on the website at around 5 PM. No response. I think maybe I have called after office hours so I try again the next day. Thursday - I try calling on their number again multiple times throughout the day but with no response. No one from the property office answered their phone for one whole day! I leave a few messages on the answering machine, but don't get any call back either. Friday - The website still shows 2 apartments available. Tried calling at least 20 times on that day, but nobody answered the phone. Could I have the wrong number? Verified the number on the website, its correct. Left a few messages on the answering machine, foolishly hoping to get a call back. Monday (Next week) - I call the apartment office again for a few times with the same result. I'm shocked that the manager has not been in office for the last 3 days or at least not answered her calls. The website still shows 2 apartments available and somewhere low down on their homepage is a link to Vasona management website. I realize they are the parent company that manages the Sycamore Commons apartments and call them. A gentleman, I think his name is Tray, answers and I tell him how I've been trying to reach the property manager for the last 4 days but with no response. He asks me to leave them a message on the website and someone will get in touch. I do that, but no response. Tuesday - I finally decide to visit this place and find out what exactly is going on. Is the manager in office but not answering any calls? Is she/he not in office at all? Do I have the wrong number? Couldn't be as the answering machine says Thanks for calling Sycamore Commons. I reach the leasing office and as expected, it is locked. I find a maintenance person who tells me that the property manager is out and might not come back for the day. He gave me a visiting card of the apartment complex, which has a completely different number. Frustrated, I call Vasona management to find out what is going on. The gentleman says he will try to get in touch with Kelly (community manager) and get back to be as soon as possible. If he's not able to reach her, he'll have someone contact me within 24 hours. That was very nice of him. I checked the website again and it still shows 2 apartments available so I call the number on the visiting card. Lo & behlod, Kelly answers the call! It was an almost magical moment for me to have a person (not a machine) answer the phone call after 5 days of trying. But my happiness was short lived as Kelly informed me that they rented out all the apartments. I tell her that the website shows two apartments still available, but she says she rented them out a few days ago and the website is not updated. I wonder how did they rent two apartments when there was nobody in the office to answer phone calls. I lived in Sycamore Commons for 5 years and it was all a good experience. If you want to get into a property which is decently priced , has good neighborhood and is close for thing like bart (walking 12-15 minutes), shopping etc then Sycamore Commons is really a nice place. Our maintenance needs were taken care of relatively quickly and the management is really very co-operative. Apartments are really nice and big with lots of storage space. Things that are missing: 1) No Gym 2) There is a pool but not a heated pool 3) A club house but its not big enough. May be good for a party of 15-20 ppl. For me the above things were not of too much importance so not a big issue for me. Things that can be improved. 1) My car window glass was broken twice , the night security in the parking lot needs to be improved upon. I have not yet lived in the Sycamore Common, but I have the worse experience dealing with the management team ever! I have planned to move in to a jr one bedroom apt unit, and I have talked to the employee of the Sycamore Common apt for a long while. She told me to keep calling every week to see if there's any such opening. I know the apt is very popular because of the price and location, so I was willing to wait and keep calling once a week to see any 1 hr bedroom availability. Just the beginning of this week, I heard from the employee telling me that some are moving out and there's few opening units by the beginning of May, 2014. She told me that there's two-1 jr bedroom units ($1295/mo.) locate on second floor and third floor. And there's a grand 1 bedroom unit on the first floor. So I was immediately tell her that I want to have the jr-one bedroom unit on the third floor. My boyfriend, however, wants to live on second floor because of the potentially heat flame during summer so he prefer the second floor, and after discussion, we both agree to take the one on second floor when WE BOTH THOUGHT THE SECOND FLOOR ONE IS ALSO A JR-1 BEDROOM SIZE AS THE EMPLOYEE SAYS. He then turned in his parts of application/fee, pay stubs and ID copy and told the MANAGER (who's on duty) that we want to take the one on second floor. At that time, he was told by the manager that the one on the second floor MIGHT BE A STUDIO BUT SHE'S NOT SURE. But she said will hold both units for us for yesterday and today until she knows more about the on on second floor. ... ...As it turns out, I just received a call from the EMPLOYEE at noon telling me that since she's not on duty yesterday, the MANAGER had rent out a jr one-bedroom unit to another party yesterday. I was so shocked because that's that what I heard! When I call back to try to clarify, the MANAGER says since the one on third floor has rent out so it's not in our discussion/conversation. She said that she has left me message telling me that the one on second floor in indeed a studio but I wasn't responding. (apparently she implies it's our false but not their bad communication between her coworkers.) Something that pissed me wayyyyy off for several points: the MANAGER said: 1)since we didn't not reply to her message, so she rent the 1 jr-bedroom to another party. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT A CAUSE/EFFECT ISSUE: IF SHE DECIDED TO IGNORE US AND LEASE THE THIRD FLOOR UNIT TO ANOTHER PARTY YESTERDAY, THERE'S NO MEANING THAT SHE CALLED ME TODAY AND TRIED TO TELL US ABOUT IT. BECAUSE IT WAS TOO LATE AND THE UNIT WE WANT HAD BEEN LEAST. 2) she said she didn't know the exact layout of the one on second floor and promised will tell us later. So we planned to make our final decision after we heard from her. (IS IT TOO RIDICULOUS THAT A MANAGER DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS THE LAYOUT OF EACH UNIT? AS A MANAGER AND ONE WHO TAKES CARE OF THE WHOLE MANAGEMENT OF THE APT COMPLEX, SHE SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING DETAIL OF EACH FLOOR PLAN/SIZE/PREVIOUS HISTORY/PROBLEMS!) 3)the manager left a msg to me, but not to my boyfriend, who she had talked to particularly for the problem. (WHY DOESN'T SHE CALL MY BOYFRIEND BUT ME TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM? THIS JUST DOESN'T CLICK ON MY LOGICAL NERVES) 4) she said that since she's the manager, she doesn't even need to call people around but just do some application filing and handling the application fee because calling is not part of her responsibility...(SERIOUSLY???DID THAT BITCH IMPLIES THAT SHE WAS ALREADY NICE ENOUGH TO TRY TO CALL US? AND ALL HER RESPONSIBILITY AS BEING A MANAGER IS JUST FOR ONE TASK: TO FILE THE APPLICATION AND HANDLE THE APPLICATION FEE? IF BEING A MANAGER IS THAT SIMPLE, EVERYONE CAN BECOME THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES RIGHT? HOW CAN TENANTS EXPECT TO RECEIVE GOOD SERVICES FROM THE MANAGEMENT (PARTICULARLY THE MANAGER) IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG/BAD IN THE APARTMENT WITH CURRENT KNOWN BAD ATTITUDES/SERVICES?) 5) the manager kept saying she had least out the apt unit on third floor (the jr 1-bedroom) so that's not in our discussion/conversation. She said:" all you have is only two choices: either take the studio($1195/mo) or the grand one-bedroom apt ($1530/mo), or come to take back your money order (application fee). SERIOUSLY? IS THAT LIKE I AM BEGGING YOU TO GIVE ME THE ROOM? IF YOUR SERVICES IS THAT BAD, YOU BITCH THINK I WILL STILL CONSIDER YOUR APT ANYMORE? FUCK YOU! Overall, I was trying to say that Sycamore Common has very nice layout in the apt particularly the one bedroom we visit and it locates at a good place. The price are pretty decent and fair. BUT I WILL NEVER EVEN CONSIDER THAT APT COMPLEX ANYMORE DUE THE THE SUPER BAD SERVICE AND INSULT I HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE MANGER:KELLY!! Yes it's true that the apt complex is super hot and popular due to the price and everyone want something like this to live. But come on, as a manager, is that really the customer service you should give? I deeply doubt about her work ethic! read more

An apartment was reserved for me, good response from management in helping me, waited for me on a Saturday, due to flyt delay...Better than the pictures online, Studio very spacious....only problem, hard to get an apartment, i called for three weeks straight, they rent quickly, so hurry if your looking to move before the new year. read more
