Speaking with Crystal, she was candid about her experiences living at the complex herself, along with providing thorough answers to all my questions. The amount of care she dedicates to tenants, both prospective and current, warrants 5 stars alone. Countrywood residents are so lucky to have her! For COVID safety, the staff wears masks and social distancing is enforced. Hand sanitizer is dispensed throughout the leasing office. Gorgeous 1BR layouts. I like that this complex is quiet and shaded by the trees. Modern gym + pool are a plus, as well as the adorable balconies/patios overlooking communal lawn areas. The appliances, furnishings, and carpet are well-maintained and relatively modern. 4 stars instead of 5 only because I haven't formally lived here, only toured. While I decided to move forward with a different complex (solely bc it had A/C and earlier move-in availability), I really would consider this complex in the future! read more

The place was not upkept, the management was very difficult to get a hold of and were extremely dishonest. Some residents were very loud and my reserved parking spot often was not available forcing me to park elsewhere. When I finally moved out after a year, they charged me another month's rent even though I had followed the process and also informed them and followed up numerous times about the process. I'd like to first compliment the staff. I spent a lot of time looking around inquiring about apartments for my brother in Fremont. It's such a daunting task to look for new apartments, let alone for someone else. I called first thing in the morning and I was greeted by a pleasant person named Crystal. I had way too many questions and she had all my answers. She was so patient and kind, and even gave me some pointers on what to look for in a good apartment. The walk through was nice. Nice flooring and appliances, good space for the price (compared to most places in the Bay). The greenery is beautiful and the property when we toured was quiet enough. (Afternoon is) you have to see it for yourself. My brother ended up going with a different area, but I would've considered this for him. Great staff and wonderful area. read more

I happen to be driving by and saw these apartments and decided what the hell I'll contact them and I was pleasantly surprised when I was helped by a young lady named Crystal! We really enjoyed living in this community. The apartment had a gas stove, stainless steel appliances, and an open layout. Beautiful scenery, open grass spaces with squirrels and birds were a plus. I felt safe living here with my son and met nice people during our stay. Crystal managed to open our pool before the summer was over and is very efficient with COVID standards (sanitizing keys, IDs, ensuring social distancing, etc.) The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was due to my move-in experience. I put a deposit for the unit about a month prior to moving in, and quality assurance of one area of the unit needed improvement. The problem was remedied in a timely matter, and Countrywood staff were accommodating during repairs. I've lived in a couple other apartment communities and this is the first one that I received a majority of my deposit back (Thank you!). For Halloween, Crystal made little candy bags for the residents and left them on our doorsteps. It was a sweet surprise to come home to (literally) :) . I appreciate the hard work and consideracy of all the staff at this complex, management and Matinence, and would recommend anyone to check these rental units out. Their pricing is fair, the apartments are very nice and in a central location close to 880, grocery stores, and a variety of restaurants. I moved out at the end of August this year. I'm still waiting for my deposit check to mail back to me. It's now December and still nothing. I have been calling/emailing, left voicemail for someone to call me and I get no updates or call back. I left voicemail just to get an update but no one cares at this office. It's been very frustrating trying to get a hold of someone in the office. No one is there or pick up the phone. Each time I finally got someone answered the phone; they are not helpful and tell you "we'll have to call you back, and look into it". I get the same answer each time I called for the last 3 months. I'm trying to get corporate office contact info, hopefully I can express how lack of professionalism the staffs are. I hate leaving bad reviews but I am so frustrated with waiting for someone to follow up with me and waiting for my deposit back to me especially during holidays. read more

I lived at Countrywood Apartments a little over 2 years and was near perfect. Our neighbors were friendly and mostly quiet. The community is made up of families that work in and around the Silicon Valley. The grounds were maintained weekly, with the gardeners out and about in the beginning of the week. The only slight issue was the laundry room. To do your laundry, you would have to study the time and go when there is a lull in laundry traffic. I found that Wednesdays and Thursday nights were quiet nights to do laundry. The swimming pool was nice and the gym was adequate if you didn't have a gym membership to 24hr fitness or another place. Arturo was the head of maintenance and he was very friendly and he worked with your schedule if you needed things fixed. He was very approachable and had a friendly demeanor. The office was ran by Christine and Shaundra. Both of them were very helpful and also helped me get my packages even though I had moved out of my apartment already. I would highly recommend Countrywood Apartments! I wished I could have stayed there a bit longer but life changes in surprising ways. Thank you Countrywood. Best regards!! read more

I lived here for a long time and this is a nice place. Now everywhere is expensive, this place is within the market price. It's very convenient to get the maintenance done when there's issue. Arturo, the maintenance guy is really friendly and easy going personality, who always busy fixing things. He does a great job fixing my toilet, I've call many times for maintenances the toilet before and after Arturo fixed it, I no longer need to worry that problem anymore. Neighbor seems friendly, and recently they upgraded the washer and dryers to the brand new equipments with bigger loads. They cleans parking lot every week to keep it nice. Overall, it's a nice place to live in. read more

I more than enjoyed my time at the Countrywood Apartment complex. I rented on of their remodeled units and the space was well thought out with great appliances and a nice layout for a 1 bedroom. I gave this apartment one star. Reason... Can't wait to get our lease over so my husband and I are can move out. First of all this place is pretty noisy tran comes by all day and all night you can't sleep at all. Second garbage area is so full and all the resident leave their trash out side the bin and it stinks very bad. There is an orderly male always in the laundry room late night, in the dark I wonder what he does... Pretty scary. Some resident female got attacked in the parking spot at night and was taking to an emergency, the sad part is this place is so high on rent and there are no cameras. Management doesn't give shit about any incident happened so far on this property. Every other day I heard a lot of people car got keyed and no action. After long day you come home and all you find out these damages and scary stories. The only good thing is about this property is 880 is so close by. Which we do not care anymore since our safety is everything. Other side of apartment all you smell people smoking weed. read more

Countrywood apartments make you feel like home its a quiet community. We stayed here for a year and we definitely liked our smooth experience. But like any neighborhood experience, your neighbors might be OK or nightmare from hell. So your experience is highly variable. Its an older building (like all the rest of the buildings in this area) but it doesn't feel run down b/c of the daily upkeep the groundskeepers do. The ladies in the front office are friendly and respond to me quickly. We found this place totally by accident. We spent a whole day in Fremont trying to find an apartment that would fit our budget and didn't look like we might get shot in the neighborhood. After giving up, we drove by this place and saw it was leasing. It looked perfect for us so we just scooped it up. Very close to 880 and Thornton is a main street so can onto freeway very quickly. There's plenty of guest and side-street parking. There's a U-Haul next door so moving ourselves was really cheap. We didn't have sound issues at our apartment on the 2nd floor. The pool is a hot-spot during the summer and its nice to swim in. Emergency response on the off hours are definitely on the slow side but we're very handy so we were able to handle most of everything ourselves. We never got caught on any 'hidden' fees or any deposit chicanery. There is crime in the neighborhood but its not pervasive just like most suburban areas. I only got burglarized after I moved out. All-in-all, its an affordable complex and when everything runs smoothly, its great. read more

The nice thing about this place is very cool because it has lots of trees and plenty of street parking as well as close to freeway 880. I agree with Neil T. this place for sure had very good advertising WoodMont Real Estate. I really don't like this place is next to school and railroad. During the school year, parents drop off the kids to school that creates traffics blocking the exits in the morning. Also, there's train hunk during 3:00 AM in the morning sometimes. I moved in with property managers James Tarver and Greg Perez and later Teresa Hobbs after James move to a different location. Cristina Raquion had managed 2+ years now and other staff that I don't know anymore. At first when I moved in I had neighbor issue which the couple upstairs constantly fighting and yelling anytime they like. Gladly they evicted after more than 6+ months of complaints from neighbors all around and some even move out to avoid them. So far I will give them a 3.5 star to the place and the staffs. James, Greg and Teresa. They response to email regardless of the question within 24 hours. The reason I gave 3.5 star is because there were bugs running in my apartment (i'm in the ground floor) and the person who does the weekly blow on the parking lot keeps it clean but always blow the dirt into my apartment in the front door and my kitchen window. Even they added the rubber liner inside of my front door still don't solve the problem. After Cristina manages the place, the parking lot hardly clean but I still have dirt coming inside my place weekly. They'll give you notice once a while when they feel like it for inspection and a lot of times they just enter your apartment without letting you know, it really sucks. Because one time, they got my bathroom rug all wet and very few times, my bathtub is still dropping water. Also, if you have question, they only reply to you when they feel like it, otherwise you'll never get your answer. The maintenance response very slow and the Mexican guys does very sloppy job and only sometimes leave notes for the job he done and I can't even read his hand-writing. Cat issue has been an issue for a while now and had complaint to Cristina and her respond was "we are restricted animals and already send out letters to residents not to feed those homeless cats." I complaint to Cristina is because my next door neighbor's cat keep coming to my patio pee and poo daily and I have to clean it up everyday for over a month. Plus, I have to block every bit of holes that the cat can pass through and it finally fixed the problem. Those animal repellent don't work. My point here is there's no cat issue when James and Greg manages it. About the pool and Jacuzzi, I hardly use it but one time, my friend and I were going to use the Jacuzzi, gladly one guy past through us and told us not to use the pool because someone poo in it. Jacuzzi were broken 2/5 times I go. Now they put a restriction and only allow 2 guests in the pool with the tag provided. I've seen kids skate boarding, play soccer ball or play in the parking lot. About the car break-in issue, that didn't happen to me but did happened to my former neighbor because he told me he's car got break-in and lost all his tools. Believe me, they weren't nice to the old residents. Also, all utilities are paid by residents. read more

Every review you need to take with a grain of salt... The community is an older community, but its far from falling apart. Everything has been well maintained, maintenance guys are friendly and know what they are doing. Samantha and Christina in the main office are friendly and see that things get done. I don't hear the neighbors, there is a bit of traffic noise but ehh, and you do hear the water heater but no biggie as well. I have not had any real issues here and its been nice living here. As for others complaints, again, take it with a grain of salt, everyone will have different experiences. read more

Terrible place! Not just get away from these people but run! Apartment office has no coordination. So you may be assigned a parking lot only to find a irremovable "illegally parked" sticker on your car. Why? Because one office attendant forgot to tell the other what was done. No database updated. They will tell you, you are on month-to-month and charge you accordingly more for the month-to-month lease. No copy of the lease will be provided. Later when you vacate the apartment, after when they have already sent you the final amount, you will be surprised to know they want you to pay even more for the days the place was vacant after you left. Very dishonest and greedy management out to fleece the hard-working renters. In short, stay away. And I did not even mention that the keys to laundry room will not work. And the gym is the shoddiest gym you will find in an apartment. Right now this old property is making hay while the sun shines (using the silicon valley situation to overprice their apartments). read more

It was a perfect Christmas and new year present to get our apartment in December last year, we had been searching for the perfect place to call home for a couple of months and i was getting frustrated. I was just about giving up when I got a call from Shondra to remind me of my appointment. It totally escaped me that I made an appointment for that day. On getting there that Sunday evening, she took us round with a smile even after we arrived late. To be honest, I was very pleased with the reception. She was nice, polite and pleasant. She patiently answered my one thousand questions as I always need clarity before signing any contracts. I felt welcome immediately. I give this place a2 stars now that i stayed almost to the end of my lease and can't wait to move out. The buildings are very old, the insulation are so bad that we can hear people talking from our bedrooms from their room. The water heaters from everyone around us makes loud bang noises at night (like 2am). I experienced first hand someone got caught by the police for breaking into someone's car here. Children away makings noises and screaming. And worst there's this so call inspections that this company makes, i mean they literally will access into your apt. even if you're not home. I understand the warning note "We will inspect M, T, W./from 9am-5pm)". Really? They actually have copy of the keys to your apt. so they will enter when they need to with or without you home. WTH. There so many insects here because of all the trees. I would not recommend this place. read more

The only good things about this place is the distance from 880 and also how well it is advertised through WoodMont Real Estate. That was good enough for me prior to moving in. If I had known then what I know now, I wouldn't have moved in. I don't recommend CountryWood Apartments to anyone. Throughout the first year of my lease, there were a few unresolved issues: STRAY CATS BEING HOUSED AND FED BY APARTMENTS 34 AND 36. - Property Managers James Tarver, Greg Perez, Teresa Hobbs, and Cristina Raquion were all aware of the situation and did NOTHING in their power to RESOLVE it! - Every Month, since June of 2010, we have complained at least ONCE about certain neighbors breaking the terms of their leasing agreements... Normally I would mind my own business and let neighbors be caught and punished but as soon as the cats started shitting (at least once a week) in my front walkway and my balcony, is when I had enough! - I personally suggested a non-toxic animal-repellent, which they only used for ONE WEEK to deter stray cats from loitering on the property. It is a waste of time complaining to the property managers especially when Cristina Raquion says "Oh, are you complaining about so and so again?" ... - Did a terrible job being The Property Manager and proudly stating that she was "actively in charge of the stray-cat situation" - She obviously knows nothing about MANAGING PROPERTY... Or managing anything, except for her cell phone or her make-up that she cannot use enough of. - It takes forever for them to have maintenance replace or install items that were promised upon moving in. (Took nearly 18 months & several phone calls) Another important issue that was never resolved is how neighbors park wherever they please, regardless of the "Assigned Parking Spaces". - FYI: Countrywood's policy is that if an unauthorized vehicle is parked in your spot, the Property Manager has to give written consent for the TowTruck Company to tow a car away... meaning you are S.O.L. and have to park on the street!!!! Any Violators who are caught will be issued a PARKING VIOLATION WARNING and are free to continuously park wherever you feel like leaving your car for several hours at a time. - BAY SECURITY only shows up occasionally and briefly when present (although we were told by Greg Tarver that Security is on-site 24hrs a day.) - BASICALLY, it's a free-for-all after 6PM when the managers leave; you may park wherever you please and you won't get towed away. - Calling the After-hours Call-Center is only effective if you have a "maintenance emergency" so there's no use. I could go on and on and write a novel for you guys to read, but to make a long story short, I couldn't wait to get out of my contract and escape from that run-down hell-hole of an Apartment Complex. read more

The Best Bang for your Buck in Fremont with just about everything you need with in a 5 mile square radius. This lovely community is Professionally Managed by Northern California's Premier Property Management Company, Woodmont Real Estate Services located in Belmont, CA. One thing that grabbed my attention about this Property Management Company was the fact that I could go to another property Woodmont Manages and use the gym or pool or clubhouse or anything. --- Story time--- I remember my buddy and I were in the South Bay and we were thinking of shooting some pool to kill some time right.? So as we were about to pull up to this billiards spot in Milpitas I remembered this thing Greg (the Manager @ Countrywood) mentioned to me when I first came in. He spoke of this program called Club Woodmont or something, as well as a property that had pools, tennis courts and a BILLIARDS ROOM. So I called Greg and he gave me the address to Fair Oaks West on S. Fair Oaks Ave in Sunnyvale. We went there introduced ourselves, took a quick look around the ghynormous clubhouse and began shooting pool. Absolutely Awesome!! - The folks who live at that place though, have it totally made!!! How would one ever get bored here? Countrywood Apartments provided a great place to call home for me and my family. I was completely satisfied with my stay here and most importantly with the maintenance guys craftsmanship after every call to my home. The office staff always greeted me with a warm smile and always welcomed me and the family into the office with a bottle of water or cup of coffee. I'm a pretty humble person and Countrywood is exactly what the Doctor ordered. All of the residents that I came in contact with in the pool or in the Sauna were pretty friendly and always engaged in conversation with me. I even met this family who's been there for 12 years. The Landscape is really nice as too! I often found myself sitting outside on my private patio listening to the wind converse with the leafs as it produced a serene blanket of tranquility. Yeah... This was home! In Short- here are some of the reasons why I love Countrywood: - I got a Great Price and Discount. - It was Very Quite all the time. - It has a Heated Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi all year long. - A pair of Hot rock Sauna Steam Rooms. - You can even hold a pretty big party here for any occasion in the clubhouse. - The apartment size fit my bulky Alice in Wonderland furniture. - The staff was always friendly and caring. - It's right off of 880. - I could take the back roads to 680 or to the Dumbarton Bridge! - It was a short drive to Safeway, Lucky or 99 Ranch -All of my late night restaurants were here- Wendys, McDonalds, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, KFC, Winerschnitzel Burger King, Starbucks and especially ASIA EXPRESS- for delivery!- . - Around the corner from Target, Walmart and Carters. - Newpark Mall is only one exit away. I know these things may differ from one person to the next, as I am sure not you. But if you are really looking for a nice quite place to call home without worrying about sacrificing your little ones Christmas Presents then Countrywood is really the place to live. read more

Wouldn't recommend this place, to begin with when I moved in they forgot to clean my apartment (as they supposedly say is something that never happens) and the place was disgusting, had to run to get cleaning supplies and spent all day cleaning the place. They sent someone eventually to clean up after 3 days which wasn't useful at that point. 80% of the times we needed something fixed or replaced we had to keep reporting it around 2-3 times, and when someone came to work on it we noticed they had just been told about it so it seems it was not related to them being busy before, never really found out why the office would just ignore the first requests for a service. At least the maintenance personnel was very efficient once they finally attend a service request they get things fixed fast. This didn't seem to be isolated to us as another neighbor seemed to experience the same pattern, one case was with his fridge it took so long to get someone to look at it that he had to throw away all the food. The pool is pretty good and well taken care of and the gym is pretty basic and small. The apartments are pretty old so that means it is mostly wood and hollow walls so you hear almost considerable amount of noise from nearby apartments (if you are in a room with no noises you can hear a conversation in apartment next door). The washers/dryers from the shared area are operated with prepaid cards and are very small so consider at least $50 a month you'll spend on them, because of the size it is not uncommon for people to have to use all of them from a certain area so avoiding weekends to use them is better. When the 6 month lease was over I got out of there, to make it worse they wanted to charge us with around 200 dollars from the deposit to clean the place , after reminding them that I did not receive a clean apartment (we even cleaned the place before leaving) we were supposed to get the deposit without this charges instead I received nothing for 2 months after many calls and many supposed lost checks I received the deposit charging around 150 for a carpet cleaning. This would be a 2-3 star place for the right price but the fact that for a little bit more money you can go to some of the nicest apartments in fremont with washer and dryer included make this an option for people who did not have time to look thoroughly and needed to find a place fast as was my case. I wish I could say more nice things about the place, on the brighter side the ladies from the office even though not very efficient were always nice and the place has a lot of trees around. read more

Countrywood apartments left a sour taste when we moved out. They only returned 20% of our deposit back when we move out We left the apartment super cleaner, if not cleaner then when we received it. Shampooed the carpet, cleaned the floor, the whole nine including the kitchen and shower. We just forgot to dust the livingroom blinds. It would have been cheaper if they would have replaced the cheapo blinds that you could get at lowes for 40 bucks. In retrospect, Dont clean the apartment when you move out because they will find a reason to keep the deposit or the majority of it. read more

We only moved out because we needed a bigger apartment after having a baby, and needed to be closer to the BART station for commute purposes. The management has always been very friendly and accommodating, you can tell that they actually care about their tenants. The maintenance team has always been prompt and helpful as well. I'm in the process of trying to rent a unit at Countrywood Apartments in Fremont, which seems to be a very well-kept and quiet community. My review, however, is in regards to the (2) outstanding property managers: Shondra and Christina (spelling) for whom I had the pleasure of meeting! I work long hours and sometimes with a long commute. Each time I went to tour a unit when it came available, it was right before closing time. The first time, after a mad rush of potential tenants all day, Shondra did not turn me away nor try to reschedule another date and time. She mustered enough energy to show me the last unit. She wasn't even pushy like some other property managers at other communities I have been. She was very professional, very friendly, very patient. Unfortunately, the unit was borderline out of my price range. On a different evening, I went to view another unit that suddenly became available. Similar scenario arriving before closing. Christina happened to be the manager for that evening. Little did I know, until later, she had to be somewhere after her shift was over. Yet, she offered me a chance to tour the unit. Never once looked at her watch nor pressured me into speeding up the tour. Upon returning to the office, she presented me with paperwork to fill out. Unfortunately, her printer had not been repaired / replaced for copies to be made. Yet, she conducted buisiness with professionalism and a smile. My experience with both managers were great!
