Don't book a cabin here! Stayed this weekend with our infant and toddler in one of their cabins and found bed bugs.... Informed the park manager and all they said was sorry. We paid to rent the cabin as well as paid a daily visitor fee since we do not have a membership thru TRA (my parents do). No refund issued. Since this is a camp ground thru TRA there's no real accountability since you're already locked into their membership. They know there's nothing you can do about it so they don't care to fix anything or take care of it. I wouldn't waste your time here! read more

This campground is beautiful with plenty of trees and nature and quiet, but one of the employees stole my hitch from My RV, a key from one of my cars, one of the ratchets from my flatbed trailer, along with a Towing hook. He admitted that he "borrowed them," but when I asked for them to be returned, after a week, he refused to do it. So when I involved management, he denied taking them, and while management seemed nice, they didn't support me, so I had to call the police and file a police report. I won't be back. read more

Manager was difficult to interact with. Discouraged assistant for annual lymphoma fundraiser offering resistance and no help. Current Manager and wife wanted me to address issues with campers and I am not a TRA employee. Backhoe, golf carts, grills and assorted items are Constantly being stolen. I requested to be relocated once and was told it was an impossibility. I reported unsafe issues, i.e. playground dangers, electrical wiring exposed, and fire hazards to Manager and no attempt to make repairs were offered. I was told by TRA employee that the manager boastfully bragged by saying "i finally got them out" News 2 was informed of the issues and safety concerns. There are so many concerns for children and members safety and the dangers still exist. I wish that I could give a negative review. I am a longtime member and headed up fundraising events such as the annual golf tournament and assisting with auctions for lymphoma. I was Constantly lied to by the manager about the money that was given to him. Every time I presented him with money raised "with multiple witnesses " he would later report to the campers a significant amount less than what he was given. I decided not to partake in the underhanded processes and lies of the manager. Open your eyes folks and don't get caught in the less than honest efforts going on there. I am safety certified by nc and a former national playground safety inspector. I am a certified reachout trainer for OSHA as well. read more

My husband and I bought into this horrible scam. OVER $3000.00. THE LODGE NEEDS MUCH NEEDED ATTENTION. ALL FIRE PITS NEED REPLACING, PICNIC Tables need replacing. The trail to the pond is so bad that it's possible a golf cart could have damage to it. There are no more activities. But when we bought in they said there would be activities. The pool area has a hot tub, but last year it wasn't working we went this memorial day weekend hot tub still out of order. So disappointing. read more

Came to camp for weekend and was invited to learn about the camping membership this lodge offered. The staff were very nice and very helpful. They told us about membership and it actually sounded pretty nice but we just don't camp enough right now to make it worth the money. We did enjoy our stay and had full hook up. We enjoyed the inclusiveness of what they had to offer members all weekend for free. We played put put, utilized game room, took nice walk around the lake on the premises.. you could take kayak on the lake if you wanted. There's a gift store with lots of stuff in case you need it. Let me say the campground was a bit out off the beaten path I suggest hitting a Walmart or grocery store before going. There's one within 30 min of campground if you find your out of something. Not bad drive and very scenic. Other campers at campground were very friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much. Not sure about camping memberships but they had really good deals for members and with rising prices of public camping it may be well worth looking into. They have lots to offer campers and lots of events that go on each week and month that sounded really fun. They have all kinds of camp sites to fit your needs and very clean bath house with laundry room too. read more

Went in for a tour and left with a bad taste in my mouth. The salesman lacked genuine hospitality and talked my ear off for 2 hours straight, I could hardly get a word in edgewise. He went on to focus on how dangerous state parks are by contrast-- I'm not impressed by scare tactics. The place itself was nice if corporate camping appeals to you, but to me the whole thing felt very forced and uninspired. There's a lake on the property but the mercury content is too high to swim in it. They kept saying it was no pressure but you had to tell them yes or no on the spot... high pressure in disguise. No thanks. I was offered a free stay but after dealing with them for two hours I have zero desire to return. read more

We camped here for spring break in 2021. We absolutely loved the area and had a great time! The staff were kind and helpful. They provided great suggestions about area attractions to check out with kids. The facilities were well maintained and there was lots to do for the adults and kids. Not a comfy stay. Cabin offered only a futon to sleep on. Sparsely furnished for staying longer than the three days we stayed. Roads are atrocious. They offer lots to do but accommodations even for RV's not comfortable. Packed in like sardines. They removed the propane tank on the day we were to check out by 11:00 before we could even make breakfast. If you stay in their cabin bring all the cooking utensils or appliances you may need. In a hotel you expect fewer cooking utensils etc. But if you are in a cabin I feel more cooking things should be available. After all, it was a cabin NOT a tent. read more

This is a private campground, which means that you pay thousands of dollars to join, and then hundred of dollars a year--every year-- in maintenance fees. This company owns 6 resorts: this one in NC, 3 in OH, 1 in PA and 1 in NY, that you can use anytime you want for 'free', but only for 2 weeks at a time with 1 week in between stays. If you want to use their affiliate campgrounds all across the nation (not the 6 they own) you pay $10/night. Considering that campgrounds without memberships only cost about $20/night, this is not a good deal. Then they told me that the "deal" is only good for this visit, and after that I have to wait THREE YEARS to buy from them again! Silly... read more

Tried to make reservations here. You can not call them directly. You have to go through an agent who asks WAY too many questions to see IF you qualify to be a guest. In all my years of RVing I have never come across anything like this. It is a membership Camping "Resort"which never seems to be a viable cost effective way to camp. read more

This place is all about personal preferences. If you like camping/rving then this place is probably a great fit for you. The camp grounds are well kept and it's a large place. There is plenty to do on site including a full list of weekly/monthly activities. There is a game room, a huge fire pit, a dance pavilion, fishing, miniature golf, horse shoe, playground, pool and probably some other things I'm missing. You can rent a golf cart if you don't own one and you can also rent a cabin if you would like. I found the cabins nice but not necessarily modern, a little dated to be honest. I don't think this place would be a good fit for me or my family but for some who like to participate in these things I could see the appeal. I came here on a tour which was low pressure and honest. Although the package offered to us was appealing we didn't buy, they do expect you to make a decision that day for the best deal but I don't make a habit of impulsive purchases so we walked away. Overall we liked what we saw, it's a nice place and the staff was more than friendly. read more

I signed up 3 months ago after a presentation of the resort and liked what they showed us. Prices was adaptable to what you desired and they had an option available for us. So now to use it as much as possible. We camp and travel constantly so hope it's worth the money. Bath House absolutely disgusting! I let the salesman know about the shape they were in friday night, and he was shocked, or at least acted that way. The maintenance fee here is 549.00 a year per customer. At almost 200 sites that alone is $109,800.00. They have more customers than sites. It was in this shape Friday night at 11pm and again Saturday at 9pm. I Call office they said they would send someone, a man and woman showed up no rags, chemical, broom, or mop ect. They went into 2 rooms, looked at them, and then left, but not before telling me that they are only cleaned once in the morning, and that no afternoon or evening staff are employed to clean these again. Low end membership is 15k plus 549.00 for maintenance, what a joke. Get your free weekend and then dump this place! As trashy as the bath house is, I can only imagine the type of people that stay here, and are employed here! Maybe 25 sewer hook ups in entire park!? Talked to several memebers and they have all been given tje same lie for 10 years hook ups are coming in a couple months! What a joke! read more

Don't waste your money. You will never be able to make a reservation at a time of your desire. They have the rudest customer support. They lure you in with high pressure sales knowing they cant offer the services they advertise. Their lodges are so over booked such that you will never be able to make a reservation. Jennifer, the manager at the main sales office was the rudest individual to deal with. I received a call offering me a 4 day 3 night stay at the Sycamore Lodge in NC. I made advance plans to travel on the dates they offered only to find out when calling to confirm my stay that they had no record of my reservations. Jennifer called me a liar. I asked her to please review the recorded phone conversations. She said with hostility, she would and call me back. Needless to say - she never did after a number of attempts calling her back, leaving her staff messages, and voice mails. Buyer beware, it all seems to be nothing more than a time share. The lunch they offered was nothing more than some fast food pulled pork, canned beans, and a slice of supermarket bread served on a paper plate. read more

It says on their website that they have tent camping. They don't. The only way you can get tent camping is to come to the campgrounds, take a tour at which time they give you a card that entitles you to come back after processing (7 days) and then you can get free tent camping for 3 days and 2 nights. Does this make any sense? In short, I don't believe they're looking for tent campers. If you don't have an RV this place is not for you. An odd way to do (or not do) business. read more

I feel for the website promotion that says free "four night stay at our campground." Most of the language on the site implied that it wasn't a gimmick, there were no hidden fees. They proceeded to email and text me multiple times a week. I finally called, and again asked what I had to do in return for the free stay and the woman I spoke to said, "absolutely nothing, we are just trying to get the word out about the campground." I further pressed her, asking about additional fees, a spiel we would have to sit through when we came to camp, etc. she assured me that no, it was a free gift. I proceeded to give her my demographics, still skeptical. And that's when she told me we would have to drive 3 hours round trip (with an infant and a toddler) to take a tour and pick up a voucher in person ahead of when we would want to come camp (basically in February). I gathered they are trying to sell timeshares or some time of membership. The woman was nice and understood my no to be no. It was relatively easy to get off their mailing list. We have a coast to coast membership which allowed us to stay here free this is a nice place but is not managed very well they only have a few sites with sewer hookup and they seem to only give them to their members when we checked in the girl was on the phone for about 15 min complaining to someone we finality got our site and it was as far away from everything as could be they have honey truck that comes around on 3 times a week we are here for 11 days so went to office to get on the list the same inconsiderate girl said since we were not members we would have to pay I told her a staff member said if we were their for a week or longer we got the first pump out free she said no I asked why we being looked down on for not being there members but we are c to c members I said I would pay after I left she took me off the the list so when truck came around he said the girl said I cussed her out I said that was a complete lie and offered to pay but he gave me a free pump out we have have got the feeling from all the office staff that were second rate this place could be a lot more pleasant with more compentant staff and lastly they have golf carts to rent but 45.00 a Day !!! U can rent a car cheaper we will be letting coast to coast know about this place so for this reason I give this place a low rating read more

Shaking my head. All I can write is "bizarre". We purchased an RV this year and have several free weeks of free stays in a resort of our choice. I received a call from a pleasant sounding young man and we set up a "tour" of one of their resorts (Sycamore Lodge, NC). We were within an hour and a half from it and my family and I traveled for a 3 pm appointment. We arrived 15 minutes early. Nice place it does seem. An employee hands me a questionnaire and walks away. 45 minutes passes and nobody as much as smiles at my family and I, asks us how we are doing, offers us a glass of water, the rest room, nothing. The minutes ticked by and I began to have the feeling I was in a waiting room waiting for a root canal or something. A few employees nervously paced around but again, no greeting, no explanation that they were running late, nothing! This is nothing more than an unscrupulous ploy to get you in, dangle "free gifts" in your face, wait for you to take the bait and then hook you. I remained pleasant although I was angry and we left. Nobody even bother to call out to us to come back. I drove all the way back to where we are staying (an hour and a half drive) and not even a phone call to our whereabouts. I called their main office, got a pleasant woman who kept apologizing. I wanted answers to this weird treatment today and never got one. If this is their "trick" then we don't want any part of it. Next time, be forthcoming with your nonsense before making a family drive 170 miles only to be humiliated. In closing? Received a call that we won a cruise with airfare and all we had to do was tour the sycamore lodge and listen to their sales pitch. They would even provide a free lunch. We told them we were not really interested. They stated we didn't have to buy anything. We decided to go after much urging and told them we could not eat pork. They said no problem and it would probably be hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken. When we arrived we were told the lunch would be meatballs with pork. We were wary from that point on. They then offered an opportunity that sounded almost like a time share except you could quit at any time and there was a yearly maintenance fee. At our age 67, the cost would FAR outweigh any savings as you also paid additionally for any vacations. After declining, We were given voucher forms that had to be sent in with $50 to $90 application fees and could only be used if space was available thru a travel agency. Looks like another disappoint and attempt to gouge the vacationer. read more

This is one of the nicest campgrounds we've visited. It's a private resort but we were able to make a reservation through our coast-to-coast membership. Beautiful grounds, spacious campsites with picnic tables and fire rings, and the entire property is heavily wooded with pines which keeps it shaded but clean. Large dog park, mini golf, pool, hot tub, canoes, fishing pond, large playground, horseshoes, corn hole, and lots of free activities. Golf carts were available for $45 per night and they were newer models. Ours was fully charged which was a nice touch. The bathhouse is extremely nice - it features separate rooms that have a shower/sink/toilet/changing area so you have privacy the entire time you are in there. Last but not least, the lodge itself was hand built at the turn of the century and houses the game room with big screen tv as well as a large dining room and sun porch. We enjoy this campground because its just a few minutes from Pinehurst and great golfing. read more
