This is the only pet grooming place I have taken my dog because they had some positive reviews for bigger dogs and Kato is a big boy. Every time we have come in the staff have been incredibly friendly and helpful. I always have concerns with Kato because he is a Velcro dog and gets nervous with loud noises and being away from his people. The staff have been so accommodating and have taken such good care of him, making sure he comes back all deshedded. ZERO stars This was the most horrific haircut my dog has ever gotten. This was the her first time at this grooming salon, and I should have read the reviews before allowing these groomers to lay their hands on Jiji. I just picked her up and drove off, but discovered a bald spot right on the top of her head AS WELL as the side of her nose. I also asked them to shorten the hair on her body and it looks like they buzzed her shoulder area and did NOTHING to the rest of her body hair. The shape of her face is also completely crooked. I am so upset about how her hair turned out and that I even left a tip. I read even worse reviews about dogs getting injured and left with cuts and scrapes... we are lucky it didn't come to that, but by the looks of how Jiji turned out, she was very close to it!!! Absolutely 100% not worth it. We will certainly not be returning for business at this establishment unless someone can make this right and refund me for this experience. I went there on recommendation of friends to set a first time appointment for my 19 lbs poodle mix. It was a longer than needed drive. The two ladies were dry faced; it's not a friendly establishment; crude looking place. They didn't seem interested in doing my dog with their dumb questions like if vaccinated and so forth; never previously asked this stupid question; like they didnt want me as a customer. I became less encouraged to let them do my dog once i did not receive a text confirmation for an appointment (3 days later); I will not even bother to cancel. I had a bad vibe about this place and if i was going to have my dog done by them i would have wanted to hang around as they did not look like trustworthy people. If possible, I would "award" Sydnee's Pet Grooming in San Marcos ZERO STARS! I had a noon appointment for their all inclusive cut for my yorkie. When I arrived I was told she'd be ready in two hours. At 2:30 I arrived to pick her up and they hadn't even begun yet. So my yorkie was tied up (without a water bowl in sight) and untouched for 2.5 hours! When we arrived home she made an immediate beeline to her water bowl and from the way she lapped up the water it was obvious she was extremely thirsty. This was our first time using Sydnee's. We thought we found our spot but boy could we be wrong. All we needed was our two puppies nails trimmed. One of our dogs nails was trimmed just fine. The lady that trimmed our other puppies nails cut four of her nails way past the quick!! Those nails were already shorter then the other. It was clearly visible that those four should have never been cut. Our puppies nails are now bleeding. It's been THREE times now that I've driven my dog(s) over there and either a groomer hasn't shown up or they've messed up my appointment time/date. One time they offered to give a quick bath as a solution and sent me home with two soaking wet senior dogs. This time, in an effort to reschedule, they said they could do an "in and out" service but would have to charge me extra even though they made a mistake. On top of it, the girl was incredibly rude. Things have majorly gone DOWNHILL...not related to COVID at all. 1. They increased their prices, even though the quality of their cuts have gone down. 2. Their appointment confirmations are inconsistent. They say we get text message reminders but I haven't gotten any. Sometimes they send email confirmations but I didn't get one for my last few appts. 3. Their front desk person has mis-booked us at least 3 times. This last time, she turned me away because she booked us for the wrong time. 4. I guess their "Polished Pooch" program allows for people to cut in front of you even though you have an appt. While we were waiting our turn OUTSIDE for about 5m since they have a 1 person inside at a time policy, a gentleman told us pretty much to ignore the sign and head in. Once we all walked in together, the person at the front, acknowledged him and let him check in his dog. We mentioned that we were there first with an appt and she said she would get to us in a minute and let his dog in. 5. Apparently, they also run a day care there? There were kids hanging out in the back. We've been okay with the dogs NOT being in kennels but one of my dogs does not like kids. That is risky for both the dog and the kids. We'll go somewhere else from now on. Last time I was running late, they called to make sure I was still coming in. This time, we were only late because of their one person at a time rule, checking someone else in before us, and not giving us any courtesy calls. Instead of working with us and hearing us express our frustration with being cut, they didn't offer any options. Save your $ and go to PetCoach instead. read more

I hate to be the person to say, "if I could leave zero stars I would." But here I am! I tried to reach out to the shop multiple times about my issue and received no response. We took our dog here after taking her elsewhere the last couple of years. I had previously been here and had a positive experience. I only chose to go else where because of location. We dropped the dog off at 12:15. When it was nearly 4:30, my husband called to see when she would be ready. He was told that she hadn't even been started and the groomer that was supposed to take her had left so someone else would be handling her. This was frustrating because they closed at 4:30 that day and had not even started. This was frustrating as there was an appt that he had to get to at 5:30 and we expected her to be finished by closing time. He was told they would be done by 5:30. He got there around 5:30 to get her and they were in the back finishing up. He had to pay and get out of there quickly for the appt. When we got home and had a chance to look at her, she looked like she had just gotten a home haircut. Her ears were completely botched, she didn't smell like she had gotten cleaned, and her legs looked like they were never cut and she was wearing leg warmers! For $70 plus tip, we expected a better cut than this. It literally looked like her ears were just chopped. As I said, I tried to reach out to them and request a refund. I heard nothing. I followed up, was asked which location and then heard nothing. I followed up again, and still nothing. I wish I could leave a better review but the way this whole situation was handled was awful! read more

I rarely take the time to provide a review, but when it comes to my pet , who cannot speak for himself, I feel it is necessary. When I arrived, a person took my dog to the grooming room without introducing herself, or acknowledging my dog in any way. I had a little difficulty getting across the cut for my dog, even though it was just the same cut he has now only shorter! She tied him to a hook with just enough room to lay down. I thought he wouldn't be there very long, as it looked like she was just finishing up another dog. My experience has usually been 2 hours for a groom, so I headed back after that time from doing some errands....my dog was still tied to the hook and the groomer had gone to lunch. At this point they said she would have him done by 2 pm and it was already a little after 1 pm. I commented that I didn't think she could groom him in 45 minutes...they indicated she was pretty fast. I guess I prefer a groomer take their time to do a good job, so my dog and I left! read more

We recently moved to the area and I'm so glad we live close to Sydnee's! My 5 year old Shihtzu loves going to the groomer so I was hoping to find a groomer that would not only do a great job, but also like her company as well. Allie did a wonderful job with her! I dropped her off super dirty because we had gone to the dog beach previously and when I picked her up she was so clean! Her hair cut was stylish, she smelled amazing from her mango furry facial, and she had two cute bows and a pink bandana! Additionally, Allie went the extra mile and informed me that my dog had a broken nail and a bit of a skin rash on her belly. Our new place has a lot of plants/piles of leaves she loves to jump in and I've noticed her itching. Also, she's been putting less weight on one of her paws and we haven't been able to figure out why (we already went to be vet and it isn't broken), turns out it is the paw with the broken nail! In addition to informing me, Allie put Aloe Vera lotion on her to soothe her belly rash and was extra careful around her broken nail! We will definitely be coming back regularly! Been taking my dog here for a couple months now and I'm pretty happy! I have a poodle and they do a great job! Only complaint is the last time we took her in they didn't clip her nails, clean her ears, or listen to our request to go shorter. She ended up having the same cut she's gotten before which is not the worst thing. All of the other times we've taken her it's been great so I am hoping that was just an off day for the stylist or a communication issue. We did pay for the full grooming and cleaning. Terrible Experience! Our female golden retriever Piper is only 26 months old and has experienced two physical trauma events in her life, both at Sydney's Pet Grooming in San Marcos California. The first one occurred about 7 months ago when the staff allowed another dog to attacked our dog and cause a laceration to her muzzle just above her nose. I guess they just let other dogs roam about when others are tethered. I should have learned from this first event. Piper is a passive Golden but she still wears a scar from the attack. The second occurred August 22nd 2023 when we took Piper to the San Marcos facility again to get a bath and brush. We picked her up and headed home, about 10 minutes away. As soon as we removed her from the car, we noticed that her right eye was close and she would not open it. Called our vet, they couldn't see her for a couple days so we went to the emergency vet in Escondido. After an examination by the emergency doctor, Piper was diagnosed with an ulcerated cornea, most likely caused by a chemical burn or some kind of direct trauma to the eye. After a week of treatment, she is still on eye medicine that we give her three times a day. Total bill to date is over $535 for the two events. We will never ever use Sydney's Grooming services again and we'll make sure that we tell everybody with a pet to stay away from Sydney's for the health of their animal. Penny Streeter read more

Both our fur-kids have been groomed by Mary for quite sometime now and have always taken great care of both Dexter and Bentley. We actually were in a bind this weekend for a last minute gathering with family and friends at home. I like to make sure both furkids look their best when having guest over. However, our appointment wasn't until midweek the following week. Called the Sydnee's on Friday after work and was put in the waitlist for Saturday with Mary. Within an hour Mary calls us back to let us know she can take them in the following day, Saturday, mid morning. What a stellar service!!!
