When we went in to contract in the beginning of May we were verbally told that the house would be finished around the end of June as we explained to Barth and all associates involved that we are a military family moving from Hawaii and we 1. Did not want to be staying in a hotel for days on end and 2. Could not afford to stay in a hotel for days on end with our two teenage boys. I should have known things were going to go wrong when the initial paperwork that was sent to us with a closing date of end of June was changed to end of July. When we questioned it, we were told it was a just in case their were issues with the builders but everything still looked good for June. We arrive in Kansas and go look at the house. In the month since we had originally had been here nothing had been done with the house. Calls to the Barth team and even the builders yielded nothing, half the time they never bothered to call or email back. When they did they would say the cabinets are going in this week and we will know a better time when the house would be done. Stopped by and the drywall hadnt even been done... Stopped by numerous other times and I would be lucky if two workers were working on the house. By the second week of June, dry wall was just being put up. The house was not going to be done anytime in June and I doubt in July. When I called to try to find out about the HOA I was told to call Barth... Can they be the realtor and the HOA? is this even legal? This is isn't how you treat a potential buyer, a pcsing military family, or a disabled veteran. Enjoy the deposit money as we spent thousands sitting in a hotel for a house that is being finished on a as needed basis. I urge any person to find a different realtor and not buy a house from this builder for if they put even an inch into how much the care about who they are building the house for into the house, it might collapse.

He then still didn't get back to me I called 3 days later and he said he was on the phone with Jason right then and we'll get right back to me. Well he never called me back it's been almost a week again. I got in touch with Jason who said he was going to find out what was going on and that has been the end of all conversation. Don't waste your time because they don't have time for you. Sad thing is is I do have a check ready to go from the insurance company on pre-approved and they just had a problem getting back in touch with me. What a terrible way to do business. I'm only giving it a one-star because Jason was very good at his job and explaining what their company would do.

Lynette Shattuck was the sellers' agent and knowing we were in a bind for time lied to us and forced us to sign an agreement that if the property we were making an offer on didn't appraise at enough we couldn't back out of the sale. She was friends with the seller's son who was moving to assisted living and clearly took advantage of the situation. This woman is clearly a 'shyster' and knew from the comps the property wouldn't appraise at enough, therefore, forcing our hand at a bad time for us. Regardless of our situation, if you're looking for a realtor with 'morals' I would stay as far away as possible from Lynette Shattuck and the people she works for.

I…read morecontacted David Barth after buying a home in his development regarding the HOA which he runs. All I wanted was to ensure that we have a nice neighborhood where the rules are followed. I specifically bought a house with an HOA because I like that there are rules that drive homeowners to keep their properties and the neighborhood nice (no boats parked in driveways long term, sheds built, etc.). There are public areas in disrepair, homeowners parking trailers in their driveways and habitually leaving cars and trailers on the road, all against our HOA covenants. David said he has no way to contact residents because of privacy laws and that he doesn't get paid for running the HOA. I have requested minutes from HOA meetings as well as the date of the next meeting and he simply ignored me. I have contacted David 7 times, 6 in writing and the only time he responded was when I got him on the phone live. David ignores emails and doesn't care about keeping the common areas up and running, having a nice community or acting in a professional manner. David is unprofessional, uninformed and disrespectful. Barth Real Estate is riding the boom and doing as little as they can get away with to sell homes. I will not buy another house in a Barth community.
