My acne was horrible!!! I tried multiple dermatologist's but nothing worked for my skin. So I started seeing Kim to clear my acne. Did I get over night results? No I did not, but I trusted Kim and continued my skin care regimen she recommended (The Toner is a magical product that help my skin so much!). By last time I saw her my skin had done a 180. I have no acne, texture is almost non existent, pores have shrunk. Kim is amazing at what she does. I am glad I trusted her and listened to all her recommendations. Today was my first time trying Synergy because I was looking for a new salon/spa and saw a BWM deal for a spa manicure/pedicure. From the minute I walked in to the hours later I walked out, it was a fabulous experience. My manicurist/pedicurist was so friendly & accommodating that I never had to reach for a magazine! Also, today they were offering a free hair wash/dry if one purchases a manicure/pedicure - this was exciting. Tai took care of my hair and it's never looked so clean, shiny, and well, beautiful. My hair doesn't even look like this when I get a haircut! He clearly knew what he was doing. I would agree with Tine that the decor is very relaxing as is their music selection. Such a great find! I stumbled upon Synergy Day Spa via Hydrafacial Nation and so glad I did. Mrs. Kim is an incredible professions and very detail oriented. She managed to fit me in her busy schedule for a Hydrafacial and my skin has never felt better. She took care of every single pore, it's the cleanest my skin has ever looked and felt. I found out that Mrs. Kim has been doing Hydrafacials way before the hype, she is knowledgeable about the products and stays up to date on new developments. Came here for a Brazilian... and it was brutal. No idea what her name was as there was no introduction, but I assure you I will not be returning. It was rushed, messy, and incredibly painful. The woman did not seem to be strong enough to pull the strips in one clean motion, so it was repetitive pulling and pain in one area until she could get the strip off. This is definitely NOT my first Brazilian, but it will be the last I ever get at this spa as it was the worst I have ever had. On a positive side, the salon is clean and beautiful (inside an old renovated house), so perhaps a mani pedi would be a better option. read more

I went to Synergy to get a deep conditioning and organic facial (using an expired living social deal). It is a cute little shop, nicely decorated, and everything smells good. First off, they are very knowledgeable about hair and skin care and they are more than willing to share it with you. They are open to questions about anything. I told my Tea (the hairstylist) that I just wanted the deep conditioning, but he shampooed, conditioned, did a blow out, AND styled it for the same price. He even suggested a way to condition my hair at home and exactly what to look for. He only recommended products I might like to try, nothing I didn't need. Kim is the woman that did my facial. She was also very generous and even did a Clarisonic Opal treatment and applied some of the sunscreen she uses so I could sample the products. She also encouraged doing research at home on my own before purchasing anything. The best part is, they don't tell you things to sell their products. If you don't need it, they will tell you you don't. They give you advice as if you were a friend. They tell you what to get, where to get it, and how much you expect to pay for it and there's no pressure to buy it from them. I've never met a friendlier bunch. I signed up for an hour massage and the classic facial for early on a Saturday morning. Synergy is in an old house that's been converted so it doesn't have the features of some spas (saunas, whirlpools, etc.) and it could feel a little cramped. None-the-less, the ambiance is comfortable and relaxing. My massage with Kevin was one of the best I've ever had. His technique and pressure was great and checked in with me frequently to make sure I was comfortable. He took the time to massage my head and face, which I love. I will be back. The facial was much more so/so. I may have had a different experience had I booked something besides the classic (most basic). However, the aesthetician took a long time coming back when I changed and left me in the room twice for an extended period of time. Come for the massage. Set reasonable expectations for what "Day Spa" means in this instance - it's not a bring your book, stay for lunch in the sauna type of place - and you'll be happy. read more

I purchased a groupon for a Brazilian wax and I am so happy to say that I'm going to be sticking with Synergy all summer! I've purchased a few groupons for salons around town to find a good match for me to get regular waxing, but none were as welcoming and detailed. First, I was able to get an appointment at the time I wanted, with pretty short notice. Turns out, during the week they are mostly scheduled by appointment only. It helps because I didn't have to wait, and could be in and out on my lunch break from work. Second, the atmosphere was so comforting and relaxing. Calming music and super comfy bed, made the experience of waxing way more enjoyable (which I didn't think was possible). The decor and layout of the Spa makes me want to explore the other services they offer. Third, Kim was really, really great. It sounds strange, but I've never had any wax specialist be as detailed and thorough as her. I've had many Brazilians before, but she has done the best job, by far. I have Native American heritage, so I have thick hair, and a lot of it, but she took her time and I'm super happy with the results. Overall, I loved my experience at Synergy. With monthly appointments at $40/month, you really cannot beat the price either. I've been to a lot of salons/spas and I always feel like I'm getting pushed into buying more products or upgrading the services or whatever. So it was just really nice to feel comfortable, and still taken care of for a service that has the potential to be awkward. read more

I bought a dealfind coupon to this place on a whim. I always feel like I'm being scolded by my hairdressers for not going in for haircuts every 6 weeks, but honestly, that gets expensive really fast and I like my hair long. As such, I usually go in every 6 months. So when I saw a coupon for a haircut, I thought "it's been long enough. Might as well go." The salon is quite small with only three stools and mirrors. I was the only client when I walked in and it was nice. I didn't feel like he rushed through the haircut and I felt like he could really focus on doing the best job on my hair. I went in with my usual Mandy Moore collage (fyi, if you got a round face, so does Mandy Moore and her hair usually looks awesome) and I walked out looking like Mandy Moore. Okay, okay, that's an exaggeration. But he really did do a great job. Bonus points for the fact that he kept complimenting my hair the whole time and at the end said "thank you for the honor of working on such nice hair." Even if that's a hairdresser line sometimes, I'm going to live in my own little world and pretend he really meant it. read more

Henry does great reflexology. He listens to what you say, and then goes to work on your issues. Not just a general session, but he tailors it to your needs. He is very polite, Getting the eye brow treatment, my friend was impressed with how much better it made in the care and looks of her brows. She said the woman was so gentle and very careful, making sure she did the procedure with care. My husband used a living social or something of that sort, to do mani/pedi while waiting on me. He was made to feel comfortable and enjoyed the treatments. Most everyone we have dealt with has been gracious and accommodating. Henry has helped me so much with my chronic pain. Before I get into why I've only given this place one star I want to say that, for me, writing about negative experiences requires twice the amount of energy as writing a positive review. It's not my favorite way to spend my time. But after telling my friend about my experience she implored me to share. So here is the good, bad and the ugly. Using a Groupon purchase, I booked my facial at 11 a.m. for 4 p.m. that same day. At 3:45 p.m. the spa called me and asked if I was still coming, claiming my appointment was for 3:45 p.m., not 4 p.m. This is strange to me because I had initially asked for 3:30 but they asked if I could come at 4 p.m. When I arrived I waited for approximately 20 minutes during which a City of Houston parking officer came in and gave one of the employees a $500 fine for parking in a handicap spot in front of the spa. The employee walked outside to discuss the legality of this ticket, eventually bribes the parking officer, unsuccessfully, and then moves his car. All of this is happening with the front door open where I can hear and see. I recognize that this situation could happen to anyone but who parks their car in a handicap spot at their own place of employment, where they are going to be all day, then tries to tell the officer that the sign isn't supposed to be there so he shouldn't get a ticket?! Whatever, I brush it off and hope that the nice decor of the lobby means more delightful surprises inside the facial room. No. When I lay down for the facial it's on a rough towel separating me from a plastic bed, and the steam machine starts spitting hot water on me! My décolletage is drenched by the time the facialist arrives in the room and after I point out the obvious she suggests that she will move me to another room, then decides she should try to fix the machine while I wait. I'm now 35 minutes into this appointment and ready to leave. I re-iterate that I need to be out by 5:30 p.m., tell her I will move to the other room, she picks up on the queue to not fix the machine and we move. Low and behold, the next steamer is also experiencing malfunctions (I repeatedly move the steamer away from my face to avoid 3rd degree burns, which she re-adjusts straight over my face) so she eventually turn off the steamer and offers a micro-dermabrasion treatment, which I accept. Now, I'm no micro-dermabrasion expert but I'm pretty sure a glycolic peel is not an appropriate follow up, but she puts this peel on and within 2 minutes my face is burning, stinging and I'm getting a little nervous because I've never experienced pain like this before during a facial. I mention the pain to her and she tells me it's not red, then gives me a mirror and yes, it is quite red and my face resembles a camo print with red instead of dark green. She puts piping hot, wet towels over my face and then presses down on my face and I'm pretty sure at this point this women is the anti-Christ, has been sent to give me my final facial. Here is the conversation that follows: "Would I like extractions?" "No" "You really need a couple, just on your nose, I be gentle." Now, extractions are something I am an expert at, being a beauty school drop-out, I know at a minimum you don't just gouge into people's face, you come in gently to avoid busting veins in the face. She starts gouging at my face with no method to her madness, I beg for her to stop. This facial has gone wrong. All wrong. And now she can't avoid the truth either, starts in on how sorry she is, this has been all wrong, she wants to give me another treatment on another day. I'm thinking to myself "RUN!" By the time I make it outta there I'm 30 minutes past my desired departure time and literally run from the building. On my way home I contemplate if that was the worst facial I've ever had or one of the worst. Then the facialist calls. She explains how bad she feels, how unsatisfied she is with our appointment and offers again another facial. I am honestly impressed with her consideration and customer service but I kindly say no-thank you. I will never return to this place, and will not be recommending it to anyone. I hope it was a fluke day, but there was nothing about the facial to suggest that the inefficiencies will be solved soon. :( If you are looking for the best facial ever though go see Lindsey Platt at Dharma Skin Care. was my first time at synergy, used yelp to find a nail place close to home. got a classic mani/pedi and my nails were so happy being pampered. they let me choose the fragrance of the scrub they used on my legs, and because they weren't busy they did my cuticles on my hands as my feet were getting done. so clean and spotless, sterile utensils and lots of nail colors to choose from. am definately coming back! had a wonderful experience and would recommend to anyone. read more

I bought a groupon for permanent eyebrow makeup. I have had this done twice in the past and only needed a touchup. I came in and a week later the color was already completely faded and gone. I was extremely upset and called to come back in. They tried to say that touch ups are always needed. Well, the color should not completely fade in one week and I know that is a complete lie because I've had my eyebrows done before and the color did not fade for two years! Which is why I was now in for a touch up- so a touch up should NOT need a touch up a week later. Well, I call and was very mad and they told me do not worry, come in and we will touch it up. I came in and they touched it up. I was beyond upset for several reasons with my second visit. First, I was already upset because my first visit should not have faded in one week. Second, they charged me $75 for this "touch up" yet my first visit was a touch up and they were completely scamming me. Third, they dropped color on my khaki work slacks and it RUINED $120 work pants. Fourth, the color once again COMPLETELY faded a week later. I will never return to this place and no one should ever go get their permanent makeup from them. They are complete scammers! They must use horrible color that is not permanent by any means, they most likely do this to force you to come back in and pay more. Trust me, spend more and go to someone who cares and uses quality ink. I have gone to Beauty Techniques by Linda in Houston, and I should have just returned to her for a touch up. She was amazing. I thought I would buy the groupon to save a couple bucks but it clearly backfired. read more

Okay, this may seem very misleading, but I do want to warn all other GroupOn lovers the trouble. This MAY OR MAY NOT be from Synergy Day Spa, but the GroupOn says they do work with the company. So me and my boyfriend purchased a Couple Massage deal. I tried telling this man (will not be named) for an appointment. I am trying to be biased about this man, but he had a thick accent and also had trouble understand on what I'm saying. First off, I made an appointment with him which was great, then when he asked me about the GroupOn number, I told him I did not purchased it. He told me to pay the $90 through the phone but I told him I had a cheaper price for $38 WHICH HE SAID HE CAN PAY. So I paid over the phone....tell me WHY it came from a sketchy text message that led to a receipt from Square (the app that handles transactions) with a very unprofessional name "papaloco15@gmail.com". I would assume if you are working ANYWHERE, you would have everything presented well. So I was very sketched out and purchased the GroupOn just in case anything happens. I called him again to cancel what I purchased through the phone and used my GroupOn instead, but he kept dodging or trying to beat around the bushes about it. With my frustration, I decided to let it go until my appointment was ready. So when me and my boyfriend TRAVELED AN HOUR for our massage, it turned out to be a mixed up. He told me that I paid for a SINGLE massage through the phone. I told him several times it was a couple massage that day I called him. He told me he had to reschedule. I wanted to make a scene, but I held composure and told him I was going to call him back AND I wanted my $38 refund BACK. He told me he was going to call 'Square' and it should be refunded within 2-3 days. SO, I waited for a week, he texted me for my ADDRESS for him to send me a check. It was starting to get very unacceptable and I sent him a text back saying "If you do not send my check within Friday, I will dispute the payment". Then he said I was arrogant and difficult? I wish there were a way to give no stars. OK, let's start at the beginning. Yesterday, I walk in the door and the lady at the counter didn't say anything, just gave me a weird look...sort of like I didn't belong (from the looks of the salon, the opposite of posh, they should be glad anyone is walking through the door). After a brief and awkward silence, I said, hello and was greeted with a dull "hello" in return, without eye contact. So much for customer service. Now let's get to my service. I had a living social pre-paid service for a "fairytale facial." Throughout the entire duration of my facial, the esthetician (whose name is Kim) was constantly taking phone calls from her cell phone. Apparently, this salon regularly uses outlets such as groupon and living social to sell their services. I'm fine with that, but what I'm not fine with is having to sit through an hour of her scheduling appointments and explaining services to potential clients during my facial. Kim must double as a receptionist. I think it was rude and uncaring to put a client through that. It was my time to relax. Though she apologized, she kept right on taking calls. If you're sorry about something, you don't continue on doing it!!!!!!!!!!!! The facial itself was horrific. The extraction phase of the nightmare left my face overly swollen and red. Even this morning, my face was still like that. Painful and noticabley red. Kim needs to get hire a receptionist, instead of trying to multi-task while seeing clients. God forbid you get a massage, which definitely should be a relaxing experience and have to sit through that constant chatter. Do yourself a favor, don't take the cheap way out trying to get one of the online deals for this place. It's worth every penny to pay full price at a reputable salon and get the service and the facial you deserve. read more

Very responsive, you can get an appointment easily. Also the prices are very reasonable, difficult to beat in this area. Lihn the hair stylist is amazing! He was the first stylist in years to actually accomplish what I wanted in a cut, and I have now been going back to him for 2 years. I have naturally wavy Caucasian hair, untreated, long to the middle of my back, medium thickness. I wear it something wavy, sometimes flatironed. His cut looks great both ways, to the point that I get compliments (didn't happen often with other cuts). He is flexible with his appointment times and very friendly. He is comfortable chatting (if I want the pampered experience) or working in silence (if I just want to relax) which is refreshing at a salon. He gives excellent scalp massages. Affordable!! I really wanted to like this place. I was able to get an appointment quickly. Parking was adequate and easy, the decor welcoming. Now here are for the major pros and cons. Pros: Nice decor and ambiance Relaxing music Small but cozy treatment room Appreciated the skin care advice Linens on table were abundant and smelled good Although my skin was a bit "raw" after the facial, it felt soft and moisturized later. Cons: Short wait before facial No clue who did my facial, no introduction Wasn't offered water despite the 2 cases behind the counter Very flimsy and narrow table to lay on, it rotates and shakes at the first move you make Overly abundant steam with strong lemon scent Therapist kept leaving room while masks were drying (2x for over 10 minutes each) and to get products etc... Timer for steam machine never stopped during the entire treatment - who can relax with a timer in their ear? Neck and shoulder massage was nice but lasted a whole 2 minutes. I think this place has good potential and more attention to the customer would greatly improve the overall experience. I think the therapist was good but her customer service skills were really lacking. I may have caught her on a bad day, I don't know.
