Kid with long hair up front on his phone denies me entry because my account doesn't pull up. Okay... can I sign up for a membership ? Response "No a manger needs to be here and one won't be in till Monday" okay... can I sign up for a day pass or trial so I can work out ? Not unless you leave your photo ID at the front desk..I only have my military ID and I'm not leaving that with anyone. So no entry and had to go to another brand of gym. Kid up front just laughed and enjoyed telling me no for every solution I proposed to try and utilize my golds membership. Sad, worst golds I've been to based on poor customer experience.

The instructors and staff are helpful. This club put a big push on cleaning. The cleaning staff seem to be everywhere. There is greater organization on the machine workout area and a lot of new machines. The free weight area a good size and is nicely organized.The members are friendly. A great locally owned and operated full service club. The water classes are great! There is a lap pool and sauna. I highly recommend American Family Fitness.

The 25-yard pool is awesome, naturally well lit through towering windows, very well maintained. Fact two, it's in every pool's etiquette that lane-sharing IS expected. Each lane gotta accommodate AT LEAST 2 persons swimmers or walkers, reserved or non-reserved. As a swimmer, I've been annoyed that I pay pricey membership fee yet oftentimes get disrupted in the middle of my workout routine when others showing up on dock "I reserved the lane." FIRST COME FIRST SERVED 2 PERSONS PER LANE is the appropriate manner this company should observe. Consider this: All members gotta be treated fairly for the high-price membership they pay.

Including the shower area. I was being nosy and just had to see if all had been cleaned . Went back to the desk and signed in for tanning.....got to the room and when I walked there were paper towels everywhere on the floor and what I can only hope was tanning lotion all over the walls and floors. I should've taken pictures but hightailed it out of there and asked for a different room. I clean for a living but it's not my job as a paying customer to come in and do someone else's job for them. The next room was a little better. At least useable. I can't help but wonder where the trash cans are that they used to have.

The smoothie…read moresign drew me in and I found a family owned and operated, full service, 24 hour fitness center with a smoothie bar! Where in the heck do I sign up?? I just left the YMCA with their set hours and the closest thing they have to a smoothie bar is the water fountain. I chatted with the owner who is also a personal trainer and barber....multi-talented and very nice. The young lady that worked there gave me a tour of the place and was quite informative. The young man working the smoothie bar whipped me up a tasty drink with a scoop of protein(impressive)......to bad I live 3.5 hours away so I guess it's back to reality but I will definitely return for a workout on my next trip. They also offer towel service, shower area(I think), fitness drinks, special fitness events and personal trainer services, if you're interested.

Every step of the way the staff was comforting, knowledgeable and understanding. They provided me the knowledge and the means to work towards my goal of returning me to as close as I can to normal. If I ever need to receive physical or concussion therapy again, I will be returning. Shout out to Trevor and C.J and all the people at the Colonial Heights and Richmond locations. It is a rare day when you go into a business and every single person that works there is just completely kind and knowledgeable about what you need. Each person there is a total delight. I needed work on my hand done and each day it got better over a few months and when they told me it was my last day I was actually sad.
