Initial meeting was great. Our salesman, Mario, was very friendly and seemingly knowledgeable citing his 17 years' experience selling Synlawn. He gave some great advice, and, frankly, he is the main reason we went with Synlawn. Installation was quick and done efficiently. Then it all went south! Mario said that it was great for pets, citing drainage and durability. It is not good if you have a puppy, which he knew we had, as puppies love to chew on things and the turf pulls out quite easily. Too, shortly after installation, we thought we had a ripple in the turf possibly due to installation. I contacted Mario and he said he would come by and take a look. We never heard from him again. To be honest, it turned out to be nothing, but, nonetheless, he never reached out again. After a couple of months was saw some discoloration around the fountain. I contacted Billy Bright, and he said it was due to the water from the fountain. He said to try CLR cleaner, which didn't change anything, and then he said to try GooGone, which also didn't work. He said Synlawn was not going to do anything about it, since it was due to the fountain. My point is, since it seems to be a known issue, why wasn't this mentioned at the time of the sale by our salesperson, Mario, with 17 years experience! The fountain has been in place long before the turf sale took place. Seemingly it is always what the salesperson doesn't tell you that comes back to bite you. Needless to say, that in no way can I recommend Synlawn to anyone. I am giving them one star as there is no zero. read more

We love our SYNLawn Synblue 745 lawn. Billy and Lou went going above and beyond in answering all my questions, coordinating with other warehouses so I could see samples in person while traveling (since they don't have local offices in the Bay Area, only Sacramento), and really diving in deep as I was analyzing every single detail + pros/cons of all the different turf lines as I was making my decision. Everyone was so patient and great. I probably called and talked to them at least 10+ times, Lou even answered my call while on vacation in Mexico! We only bought the turf and infill and used our own contractor to install in Oakland. However, I did about 6-12 months of research and sample gathering across many different turf companies and suppliers (WaterSavers, TigerTurf, SGS in LA, Heavenly Greens, BeeGreen, etc.) and SYNLawn's quality was consistently superior while also providing the most natural look. We also were considering the previous SynBlue 949 (which is no longer being manufactured) as it doesn't seem to require infill and many past customers in our area are extremely happy with it. It's super lush and felt very nice but has more of a yellowish hue when side-by-side with SynBlue 745. We also wanted to compare but weren't able to get a sample of the 545, but ultimately felt good about going with the higher density and face weight of the 745. Unfortunately, Yelp posted my pics in random order but you can see the general before and after. We're so thankful to have a wonderful place space for our kids, and to have found SYNLawn when we did (it was the last turf company I researched after someone recommended them from a neighborhood FB group). OTHER FINALISTS My other finalists were either Dune/Sage from SGS or an unidentified sample from Heavenly Greens. SGS to their credit was honest that those lines were meant for landscaping and may get matted down or have breakage over time with heavy play usage. We didn't enjoy the sales reps from Heavenly Greens and were unfortunately never able to narrow down the name of the sample we liked from them (there were no tags attached). Our neighbors installed Willow from WaterSavers, but it was not as plush or thick underfoot as the SynBlue 745, and not as natural in appearance. Overall, we're thrilled with our decision and hope this long overdue review helps someone else! (Our kids now use the other turf samples as "plates" on the turf when they play "restaurant." :)) read more

I'm a year and a half in and we love our turf and tell everyone we know about this spot. It looks so real, it doesn't feel real, but it's for sure gentle on the feet. I requested a quote and the biz came back quickly giving us directions to the warehouse for more info or a # to call. No fancy office here, just a warehouse. The guy was so helpful and very clear and transparent which is always appreciated. We had our landscaper put it in vs going with their crew for price purposes. You can purchase from them with or without install although their guarantee doesn't accommodate you (or very limited) without their install services. We legit went to 5-6 different turf spots for samples and this was one of the more expensive options, but it blew the competition outta the water. From start to finish, working with SynLawn was the right decision. From first outreach to final product, the SynLawn crew was wonderful to work with. SynLawn was responsive to my initial communication and gave me a rough estimate of what the project would cost from my initial outreach. It turns out that I had significantly undercounted the square footage as my initial measurements included a plan to put decomposed granite down for a significant section of the lawn. I really enjoyed talking about the project with the guy that came out to do the measurements and map out what the lawn would eventually look like. Working with Jason with the quote and paperwork was super easy. The installation crew was awesome as well. They worked really hard to get things perfect. I had (and still have, see if you can find it) a watering system that was inconveniently located in the middle of the yard by the previous homeowner (why?!?!). I figured that at some point, I would need access to it in the future. The installation crew had devised a way to cover it with lawn but still permit access to the utility box, and then even though I'd agreed on the method, they came up with an even better way. In other words, they really cared about the finished product and while the first solution was okay, they worked on it to come up with a great solution. The lawn itself is great quality, stay relatively cool even in direct sun (which it gets a ton of) and I really couldn't be happier with everything. Synlawn was an absolute pleasure to deal with, not only in terms of his professionalism but also in terms of the great degree of care and craftsmanship they displayed throughout the project. For example, the installation involved reinstalling some landscape lights and they actually took the time to have me work with him to find the exact spots I wanted to put them. I was also very impressed with how well they cut in the edge of the lawn against a large olive tree on the lawn that had a bunch of above-ground roots to deal with - it looks very natural. When my wife and I were planning out the back yard to complement the total rehab of our home under construction in SF, we took stock of the drought and decided that as much as we'd like a real lawn for our son to run around on, a more responsible decision would be to put in artificial grass. Unfortunately, as a home designer and remodeler, I've spent plenty of time looking at recent installations of artificial lawns and they all, to a one, came across as expanses of green carpet. I looked from vendor to vendor to try to find an artificial turf that "read" like real grass. I went from Heavenly Greens to BetterThanGrass and around and never found the right product...until I connected with Jason at SynLawn. After poring over their site and reviewing their various products, I contacted Jason at their Bay Area office and they sent Brandon out to my site to show me samples and give me an estimate. The estimate was in our ballpark and the sample swatch looked and felt great. Still, I was filled with doubts. Although the product, SynLawn 958, had long and varying length blades and a nice contrasting thatch, I lacked confidence that, once installed, I wouldn't be left with a green outdoor carpet. After going back up to their facilities and checking out the samples again, we committed to the 958 and, I have to say, the results have been amazing. The crews accommodated our challenging property - although relatively level for the yard, they needed to bring all of the base rock and materials through the house and up several flights of stairs. Very accommodating. They took some time to get the lawn installed, but they did it right. It looks simply amazing. With some shadows from nearby trees and real planter beds beside the lawn, it just looks real. I feel like an actor in a SciFi TV commercial when I say "Thank you, SynLawn", but I look out on that lawn every day with a smile on my face. read more

I had a small area of my yard set up with SYNlawn and am very satisfied. I had contact two other installers for quotes and SYNlawn was cheaper and more professional. Everyone I dealt with was very nice, communication was excellent and the quality of the lawn is great. The only minor issues I had were that some gravel was left on the street and sidewalk and there were some leftover staples hidden in the grass. The overall experience made up for those small issues and the 5 stars are still well deserved. Three months later, our lush, green lawn was half mud pit and half yellow patchy shredded mess. I checked out three of the leading (and top Yelp rated) synthetic lawn companies, and their prices were quite similar. However, we much preferred the SYNLawn grass - in particular the SynAugustine, which is new, super soft grass, that looks fantastic. Also, Synlawn was the only company whose grass didn't need infill (sand and rubber crumb), which was huge advantage to us. SYNLawn were professional and their foreman Nick was great - working hard to fine tune the lawn installation to our preferred specifications, e.g. getting the right contouring and cuts around tricky rocks etc. A month later, we love the grass. It looks great, feels great and now the kids want to play on it all the time - before it was mostly a "dead" unused space.
