More like 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. Nice interior decor, quick seating and food came out in good time on a Saturday morning. Food was good, but I'd hesitate to call it great. I ordered an omelette that came out incorrect, but I still ate it. At 5-eggs it was massive, however the quantity did not outweigh the quality. The cheese was stuffed centrally, so many bites near edges went without ingredients ordered. Also, this place up charges for things you'd find standard at many other breakfast places, including Burnt Toast which is right across the street. Example; to get pancakes with your omelette you're paying a few dollars extra for 2 very small pancakes whereas adding pancakes is a standard at Burnt Toast and you get 3 large pancakes. In fairness, it looks like Syrup's specialty waffles, pancakes and French toast is where this place excels, and the next time I visit that's the route I'll go - it just won't be before I go back to some staples in the area. read more

My husband and I came here on Wednesday (9/16) for a late breakfast, we were seated right away and our waitress was extremely attentive. The food came out quickly and everything was perfect. Food was good, however they charge way different prices that what the menu they give you says. Each item was several more bucks more then listed in the menu. Breakfast potatoes were very bad. They were soggy. Veggie burger was very bad. No mayonnaise or ketchup on the side or burger. When asked waitress for mayonnaise she started arguing that there should be mayonnaise there already in the burger. My wife showed her the burger and then she was shut up. For coffee we had to remind the waitress few times. For hot sauce asked the waitress but never got one. Never had such bad service at any place. i will not recommend it to anyone. Just ate at Syrup in Algonquin. I ordered the Butcher omelette. When I got it, it looked like scrambled eggs with all the ingredients cooked into the eggs. I got less than half way through this meal and the eggs were not fully cooked. I mentioned it to my server and all that he said is I will mention it to someone. We see the lines outside the restaurant on the weekends so we have stayed away but it was wide open on the Monday morning we went. Syrup was great! I passed by recently when driving in Algonquin, and have wanted to try it out for a bit. I went with better half today before going to church, and the food was delicious! We tried the breakfast platter that came with bacon, eggs, potatoes and french toast, and the lemon crepes with strawberries, blueberries and mascaropone sauce. Wow! Delicious. I got my eggs scrambled, very fresh and well cooked, the bacon was delicious (I love bacon!). The crepes were also delicious, very fresh and light, the fruit was fresh and generous. Great combination between the fresh fruit and sweeter mascaropone sauce. Menu items were well priced, around $12 and coffee was $3. Our server was friendly and helpful. The ambience is modern, very clean, and we were seated right away - which was awesome because there came a rush of people soon afte rwe got seated. They have some other food that seems really good, and I am definitely going to be back and try some of their other menu items. They also have outdoor seating in a seat for extra room. Stopped in for Brunch on Tuesday. We were seated immediately. Wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Coffee was great. We ordered the Santa Fe omelet and eggs Benedict. Both were absolutely delicious. We were only able to eat, half of each meal. Made a great breakfast today. I'm doing the low carb thing and the waiter gladly substituted a salad for the potatoes and toast. The manager was checking with guests to make sure all was ok. It's breakfast but don't expect it to be amazing. I was disappointed with this place. My review may seem harsh but only because it was just one thing after another at this place. First, I counted several employees who had their masks under their noses the entire duration of our breakfast (an hour or so). Next, our server stood right over us while we ordered - no personal space in time of COVID, alright then. Then, she messed up our drink orders but charged us for the more expensive drinks she thought we ordered. When we tried ordering food, she didn't have a clue about the food items on the menu and it was a hassle trying to get grits instead of potatoes. She kept saying the potatoes came in the breakfast burrito on a skillet so it couldn't be done. Food arrives and the potatoes are a literal side. A different server dropped our food off, but not before being confused which table she had to go to. This seemed to happen non-stop with food being delivered to the wrong table. It also happened with our wrong drinks. Then our server never came back to check if we needed anything (utensils and napkins would have been nice), if the order was correct, or how the food was. Then when it comes time to pay, guess who comes back and decides to hover again? The only thing I liked was the iced latte with almond milk. read more

My wife and I ate breakfast at Syrup 5 times during a recent visit. We were staying next door at the Holiday Inn Express and it was a short walk to get there. For all 5 of our visits, service was excellent and attentive - we had a different server each day so they are obviously doing an excellent job of hiring and training their staff. We tried a variety of items (oatmeal with fresh fruit being our favorite), all of which were excellent, which would explain why we kept coming back 5 days in a row. Prices aren't cheap, but the options, service, presentation and freshness are worth their higher prices. As a previous restaurant owner, I can appreciate when things are being done consistently and being done well. Great job, Syrup! read more

We have visited Syrup 4 times since it opened. We love the food and the management. We've always had good service and Kimmie, the owner is very responsive to concerns and open to suggestions. In fact, we were told that the delicious Reuben Panini was being taken off the menu but because of us and other diners who love it, Kimmie decided to keep it. We love it! read more

This place is amazing!!!!! Now I can give 5 stars on everything here... the food, service, ambiance, cleanliness, etc. It's all really that damn good to me. But today I'm giving 5 stars for awesome displays of humanity. This might be a little long but it's worth it...trust. and who doesn't like a nice feel good story amiright??? So we go in an hour before close and are seated in a small section up front off to the side. About 30 min or so later we are wrapping up and the only ones left now and a different waitress Michelle who is freaking awesome, comes by to ask if it's cool for her to sit at a nearby table and fold silverware. It takes me a second because I'm like wait I'm in their house and there is plenty of room and that's a job to be done and for us as customers no less so once it clicks I'm like oh yeah sit here with us grab a drink! Well the fact she felt she even needed to ask that made me so sad... what has this world come to? Has the Karenocity (no offense cool Karen's who share the name) gotten this out of control? Who would mind that? Who would that bother? Damn... so I see Michelle at the register with Jody the manager and hear her mention she had asked so I motion to come sit and yell out I've been waiting I want to learn and Jody yells back jokingly I'm hired...lots of smiles... so Michelle brings the bucket to the nearby table but never comes to fold it. Our waitress may have been a lil worried which I appreciate so she comes to check us out and I say I have 1 complaint that lovely lady never came to teach me how to fold silverware...2 min later Michelle comes clears the table sits next to me and lays it out. She shows me what to do gives me my orders (lol she was very sweet) and I get to work. Lemme tell you that's hard. I got 4 in and she saved the rest you lol. So for the table with the jankily wrapped silverware my bad I tried but man it's hard so extra kudos to these servers! We talk a little more and her colleague sits near so she joins her and I paid my bill so I thanked her gave them some much earned high praise for all they do and told all this to Jody. This was one of the best human interactions I've had in a long time and I left with such a good feeling and you just can't buy that anywhere. Lots of staff around and not one person took notice that we had been sitting there for nearly half an hour and likely would have been longer had we not brought it to someone's attention. I can't complain about the food because our service never got there. All I can attest to is the iced water that the hostess gave us upon being seated. We spoke to the manager and we hoped being overlooked could have been corrected however the waiter was very pushy and somewhat rude.
