*3.5 STARS* Boneless spare ribs - I've been craaaaaving boneless spare ribs the past two days and had to figure out which Chinese-American restaurant was going to satisfy this craving. Let me tell you about Szechuan Hot Wok. They NAILED it. 5/5 I mean look at the photo I took. There's an even ratio of meat and fat and the sauce is so dreamy. It was everything I wanted and more. Pork Fried rice - Their fried rice was okay. I wouldn't purchase it separately, but will settle with it if it comes with a combo plate. I can taste the burnt pieces which doesn't bother me too much, but I can see how most people wouldn't like that. I grew up eating burnt rice, so that's nothing out of the ordinary. What was a bit disappointing was the lack of flavor. 3/5 for this one Orange chicken - So I know I said I was craving the boneless spare ribs and yes, they do offer it as a combo. However, I saw a lot of reviews and photos on their orange chicken, so I decided what the heck, let's try it out. I definitely ordered with my eyes on this one. It's nicely fried, so not incredibly soggy. Flavor is there, but I've had better. I actually have my own recipe at home that I'll just stick to in the future if I'm ever wanting orange chicken. 3/5 Price - Their pricing is really good given that most prices have risen due to covid. Their lunch combos are only $6 and you get rice and your choice of soup, egg roll or can of soda. Sounds like a good deal to me! 5/5 Covid - Dine in is not available. Their place is pretty small, I think enough to fit one or two tables. So regardless of covid, this place primarily is for take out. Their entire counter is blocked off with some sort of plastic. Masks are worn and enforced. Hand sanitizer is provided. My only concern is cross contamination from wearing gloves. I'm not sure how often they are changing out their gloves. 4.5/5 Parking - There's parking right in front of the establishment. I'm not sure how busy it gets since I ordered around 9:30pm, but I had no issue. 5/5 Overall, I'd recommend this place if you're looking to get your cravings satisfied. Whenever I order, the man who answers the phone is pleasant and patient. They have tons of variety for the lunch specials; those of themselves are the best. They come with a entree, the choice of white/brown/fried rice, and a soda/egg roll for $5.50. This time around, I opted for something different from my regular order (Beef and Broccoli) and got the Orange Chicken; it was packed with flavor, a little bit of heat, and freshness. The inside is tiny, with two tables for dining in, but I always pick it up and go. There are always enough people to help with your order and payment, all pleasant as well. To my surprise they actually have orange peels cooked with the chicken. This made me very happy as my favorite orange chicken in Cali was cooked this way. Orange beef is a 4 star. Kung pao chicken is 2 stars. Broccoli and beef is four stars....lemon chicken is 3 stars....lo mein is 3 stars....chow mein...2 stars. So here I am fighting a cold, and the best medicine for that is... spicy Chinese food. I hopped over to Szechuan Hot Wok and got the Orange Chicken lunch special (lunch special = entree + [white|fried] rice + [egg roll | soup | soda]). Of course, since I hadn't been here before, I had to try the dumplings. The dumplings were very good: $4 nets you 8 fried beef-filled dumplings with medium-to-thick skins. Only downside was the 'dumpling sauce' was basically vegetable oil with chilis floating in it, and a touch of soy. Not particularly appetizing. (Update-- on the second visit, the dumpling sauce was actually dumpling sauce. First time was a fluke) The Orange Chicken was generously portioned and tasty - dark meat, battered and fried (in a fryolater, not a wok) and then sauced up. Good dish, but a little too heavily sauced. The hot and sour soup was disappointing - it was gelatinous even when warm, and had very little of either hot or sour flavor. Won't get that again. The place is tiny & is built for take-out -- the kitchen is easily three times larger than the counter area. The kitchen is alive with activity, and you can see pretty much everything happening. They seem to be fastidious about cleanliness; I saw the cooks constantly wiping down their areas in the midst of the lunch rush. So, three stars. I will probably eat here again, but I can't go to four stars just yet. read more

While they were small, I didnt mind because there were many. The egg foo young was full of onions and the gravy was yummy. I opted for veggie fried rice and it was sooo good. I never post on Yelp but the food from this place is so incredibly disgusting that I felt the need to warn others. I've had two different dishes from here when my office ordered lunch on different occasions and both were absolutely terrible. Today I ordered chicken chow mein (which by definition is noodles) and it came without noodles, just disgusting chicken that doesn't look edible even for a dog, and slimy onions and cabbage. We called and they tried to argue that chow mein does not mean it comes with noodles (do yourself a quick google search of "chow mein" and try to find one example that does not have noodles). The Hawaiian chicken last time was also gross. All their food is always so slimy, soggy, and flavorless it makes me want to throw up just looking at it. My coworker hates this place so much she refused to order anything. This is easily the worst restaurant food I've ever had from probably anywhere. Stay farrrr far away!! You have been warned. Pretty good for chinese takout. There are lots in the area but we always go back to this one after being disappointed in the others. I've found they do seem to take more pride in their "regular" menu items than the "special" menu items (entree + fried rice+ egg roll) so we've stopped ordering the specials. They're great at special requests like extra spicy or no broccoli and they say they don't use MSG. Delivery can be slow sometimes. My mother in law lives in the Glen Burnie area so whenever we visit her we make sure to stop at Szechuan Hot Wok. My favorite dish is the Shrimp in Garlic Sauce Dinner Special which comes with Fried Rice and a Soda (or you can choose white rice or egg roll as well). The shrimp are always a nice size and the sauce is the perfect combination of spicy and sweet, filled with fresh broccoli, carrots, green peppers, baby corn and water chestnuts. They also have really good shrimp toast and egg rolls plus you gotta love a Chinese Carry Out that doesn't portion out the Duck and Soy Sauce, they have a help yourself condiment area that is quite refreshing. The owners are awesome and you can tell it's truly a family venture because there's always 1 or 2 kids either helping in back or doing their homework out front. I like this place the best depending on what I want. Their soup is average and their dumplings are really good, especially the sauce they have. Their fried rice and lo mein have a lot of veggies in it that you normally don't have and it gives a strange taste. The egg rolls are the best around and always super cripsy.
