It's been a long time since I've gotten the pleasure of writing a five star review, and I'm so pleased that this family own restaurant is the one I get to write about! Firework is a hidden gem in Arbutus that offers an authentic, family vibe with a modern twist -- their menu is overwhelmingly gluten-free! everyone who's gluten-free knows it's almost impossible to find good Chinese food that won't leave you feeling some degree of sick afterwards. Even when they advertise dishes that can be made gluten-free. I am pleased to report that my experience was the exact one I was hoping for. I even got to eat vegetable spring rolls for the first time and I cannot remember! I got The gluten-free shrimp and broccoli and my wife got beef and broccoli (not GF). We were both very pleased with the flavor of the dish as well as the option to have a smaller size portion. Our meal was delicious, affordable, and the service was delightful and super friendly. This place had surprisingly delicious Chinese food. Blown away. Chicken & Broccoli Excellent sauce, great flavors and perfect consistency. The chicken was tender and the broccoli crisp and tender, while not being mushy. Cheesesteak Eggroll Here is where they fell short. There was a speck of steak inside the eggroll. It was more of a cheese eggroll than anything. Disappointed on this one. Fried pork Dumplings Excellent! Perfect sear on the outside, golden brown and soft in the areas that weren't seared. Delicious flavors, could really get the hints of ginger. Sauce it came with was the perfect amount of sweet and salty. #FeedsMySoul. Singapore Mei Fun Noodles we cooked perfectly. Got some takeout here recently. Overall, not bad! I started out with some of the fried pork dumplings, thanks to many other recs on here and they did not disappoint! Crispy, porky, with a delicious sauce that had the perfect balance of sweet, sour, and salty. Would get again. I also ordered the Orange Chicken. Nice crispy breading without being too much or too heavy. The pieces were also cut into manageable-sized chunks rather than some of those enormous pieces you sometimes get. The taste was fine. I only wish there was a little bit more broccoli and a little bit more sauce to match the amount of rice they gave me. Otherwise, very good. I had it delivered and their website estimated about 55 minutes until arrival, but the driver got there in about 30, so I hope that speedy service is typical! Prices are fair. This is good place to go to pick up Chinese food. They have all the standard pick up type Chinese food dishes here, such as lo mein, general chicken, fried rice, etc.. I have gotten their Singapore mai fun and their shrimp mai fun. They were both flavorful and delicious. Their portions are smaller compared to other Chinese food counters in the area. Quite the disappointment, ordered Egg Drop Wonton Soup and "Seafood Pan Fried Noodles". The soup, although different, was as described so that's fine. The main dish, a total disappointment. I expected a nice base of fried noodles with seafood and veggies on top. They advertised lobster, shrimp, and scallops. The "lobster" was the cheap imitation white fish they serve to people who don't know better. The shrimp was indeed shrimp and the scallops were, not there? Or too tiny? The whole thing smelled like cheap, imitation seafood. The noodles might have been fried at some point but definitely not tonight. The "white wine" sauce might have been there but was drowned out by the cheap fish taste. I ordered from here because it was rated 4.0 when others were 3.5. If this is Baltimore's idea of 4 star Chinese, God help us. Huge disappointment. read more

I have been ordering from Fire Wok of Arbutus, MD for close to a decade and I am always happy with the great food. I also REALLY appreciate that I can still call in an order without being sent to a pre-recorded menu. I fully believe that Fire Wok is so good because the restaurant is still run by Asians and has not been bought out by other ethnicities. They are always early with their deliveries and I tip in cash as they have the most friendly and hard-working delivery men i have ever dealt with. read more

My son moved in nearby so after helping him move in, we wanted to try some food nearby. This place was nearby so we gave it a try. It was good but I wouldn't say anything stuck out as spectacular. Everyone enjoyed the meal so that was good enough for us. If there was 1 thing that I did not like, it was that since I ordered 6 dishes, I asked for 6 hot chili oils. We all like our food spicy. We were charged 75cents for each chili oil. $4.50 for the chili oil without telling us we are being charged is not right. They were generous with the other sauce packets but they shouldn't charge for chili oil. It is a condiment. I only asked for the number of dishes. So that cost as much as the wonton soup. So that is my suggestion. Either tell the customer, because 75 cents is a lot for that little sauce, or make it free like other condiments. read more

Ordered bourbon chicken, sesame chicken, and fried wontons with beef which all were great. The staff was very clear on GF which is a major plus in my book- it's next to impossible to find gluten free Chinese food that won't upset someone with celiac disease. We travel 25 minutes each way to order from here. There is no inside seating and usually children helping out or doing school work- which is how you know the food is going to be good! Awesome Chinese food! I got chicken egg foo young and veggie dumplings. It was Keto cheat day lol. I haven't had egg foo young since I was way younger, not sure why. But it brought me back to my childhood, except this one was way better. And the dumplings were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. I ordered from Fire Wok through Uber Eats. Ate the meal in my hotel room. Upon delivery, I had the pork egg roll first. It was fairly standard for an egg roll, nothing outstanding. Then I ate the shrimp & broccoli. The broccoli was fresh, not overcooked. Larger size shrimp which is nice (though not deveined). The sauce was flavorful, and I had them spice it up more than normal. I really wanted Chinese food for a while now and I found this place which was near my college. I was happy to see that it was only a 5 minute drive away from campus so obviously I was more than willing to drive over and try it out. The place itself is a little bit of a mess but it wasn't a problem to me. Ordering was fast and easy and the food take only a few minutes to come out. I was able to strike up a conversation since I realized that they were speaking the same language I speak and even found out that we were from the same area in China. They immediately treated me like family and it reminded me of my families old restaurant. They were so kind and so easy to talk to, it felt like I was back home. The food itself was amazing. It's was still piping hot on the way back to campus. The chicken was so moist and soft. There was so much flavor in the chicken. Good quantities for a good price. I don't understand the negative reviews, this place was actually really good! It's a short distance from my home so I figured I'd give it a try despite the negative reviews. There's parking in the back and a few in the front. The front decor has 2 tables for sittings and everything was nice and clean. Lady at the counter spoke English if you're worried about that. Fire Wok is a great place for standard Chinese takeout. The Fried Pork Dumplings had a good crispy sear on them, and that can be tough to find sometimes. The Beef Teriyaki is okay meat on a stick (sticks are always fun, everyone at the Ren Fair knows that.) The Curry Chicken and Beef and Broccoli were both alright, if American bland. They give you the option of a spice level on certain dishes, so I'd advise ramping it up if flavor is your thing, or just be prepared to add your own at home. read more
