Soooo this a review that I hate to say is for a "hole in the wall" Asian cuisine spot and I'm being honest as far as that goes for Carryout style places. This food is soooooo freaking good! I've been going for a month or two when in the mood and each time I try something new. I'm looking for flavors like I get back home and this is very close. The pickup price point is A+ for the location and the guy is always friendly when I go. They do really well with edits to their items and the serving sizes are generous and always lend to two meals. Oddly enough I tried their American Menu as featured and it was tasty for what it was if that makes sense. I usually read reviews before venturing somewhere but I was tired of the other spot we normally use and I'm happy to have tried it. read more

Have taken out from here a few times, and until now it was a pretty good experience--tonight however was a different story and I absolutely will never be returning. My girlfriend was about halfway through eating her soup when she encountered a soggy fly that was buried underneath a piece of tofu. We were both pretty disgusted and called the restaurant to inform them and ask for a refund. I threw out the soup, but made sure to take a photo so there was evidence. To our surprise, the man who answered the phone was not only unapologetic but outright rude. He immediately denied that there could have been a fly in our food, and claimed that unless we brought the soup with the fly in it to the restaurant, he wouldn't consider a refund--a photo apparently wasn't good enough evidence. When we protested that we shouldn't have to carry a dead fly several blocks to him to prove something that a photo showed just as well (in a politer tone than his, I might add), he hung up the phone! Beyond the lack of hygiene suggested by our soup's unfortunate insect filling, I'm more upset at the fact that the restaurant refused to acknowledge the possibility that they made an error, and then made the ridiculous accusation that we faked a photo of a dead fly to save $5. Second time ordering from Yung's. Our first order was bad just forgettable. So much so I had to ask my daughter to remind me of the experience. Everyone deserves a second chance, right? Well, lets just jump in. One item and requested condiments were missing from my order. The Hot and Sour soup was hot and oily but not hot and sour. The Shrimp and Chicken and Beef and Shrimp combinations were lack luster. There were exactly 3 shrimp. The beef was suspiciously soft and mushy. The optional pork fried rice had pork pieces on top but upon digging in they were clearly absent and replaced by miniscule ground granules of pork. The included eggrolls where adequate but, absent the perfunctory hot mustard, lacking. Bok Choi and broccoli were cut large and plentiful. My daughter and I are thinking that our rumbling upset stomachs this morning may be connected to our Yung's dinner of last night. read more

I'm reviewing the only thing I ever get from here which is a fried fish sub. It's yummy. The fish is hot and crisp in a soft roll with lots of cooked onions, a goopy white sauce, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, American cheese and hots. A half costs $6. You won't be sorry. read more

This continues to be a great little Chinese place. The lunch specials are less than $6 and of a good portion. Good food! Very fast service! Cheap prices! Convenient location to downtown! I try to stop here once a week when heading downtown for work stuff, and I can't always manage to... But when I can, it hits the spot. Late night Chinese. I eat from here every so often but I've been eating from this place since 2000 or so. Food is decent nothing to rave about. On this trip I ordered shrimp lo mein, chicken wings and what I always order bourbon chicken my go to meal. I always order before I get there because they are slow. Food is a bit pricey. read more

Its good food and huge portions for cheap. I went to school for 4 years just a few blocks from here. They deliver fast, and late. They're a hit with kids in school. I've read reviews about roaches in them, but in the 4 years I've ordered food here, I've never had problems. Now that I've graduated and moved away, I still use Yungs as the benchmark for American-Chinese food. Seriously, for less than $6 for a lunch special, there is no beating this deal. Its huge. (12/23/2014) Ordered delivery to the office on a drizzly cold day. In the late '90's Yung's used to get the City Paper awards for best cheap "Chinese" (as in made by a Chinese restaurant) cheese steak in the city. In 2 decades, this is my first one. I don't know what they were like back in the day, but this one was all right. Ordered the basic Steak and Onion with provolone, and the works on the fixings. Asked for a scrambled egg on top, but it never came (might have been the fault of the person who ordered and not necessarily the restaurant's). Got the 12" inch to share. Sub had plenty of meat (not greasy, but dry rather), a small amount of fixings, otherwise came as ordered. It was filling, it was delivered, there was nothing "Chinese" about it, but it was cheap. read more

We have gotten take out and delivery from here for years. The business has been in the same family for ages and they've always been super friendly. It's inexpensive, but the veggies are always fresh and never soggy or mushy. They just finished remodeling and we're looking forward to going back. read more

My review is only for the fried chicken box. To start, This is your typical chinese take out place. Same set up, same menu, same everything. The chicken was very good though! Super crunchy, well seasoned, and they were a decent size. I just got fries with my meal. They were crinkle cut and delicious as well. If you live in the area and looking for a chinese delivery, i would recommend trying this place. Came here with my coworker, a Bmore Native, one day to grab lunch. I had a chicken box and I must say, this was some of the best carry-out I've had in a long time. The chicken was just the right amount of crispy and the fries were great too. Not to mention the price came up to $5 and some change. You definitely can't beat that! The wait was a little long, I ended up having to go back to work, clock in, then eat my food. Terrible customer service. The food I bought leaked through the containers and paper bag it came in, causing it to spill all over the floor when I attempted to put it on the table. They refused to make me another order, even when I returned and explained the situation. The food tastes good and I feel it is less greasy than some of the other Chinese carryout places. The price is very reasonable (6.xx for lunch combo). Like all of my Chinese carryout reviews, I'm comparing this restaurant to my all-time favorite, Daikim Express in Pasadena. I've had the General Tso's lunch special at both places and Yung's Carry Out simply does not compare. Yung's fried rice is a sickly dark yellow that contains bean sprouts and tiny amounts of diced onion. It's quite a sticky, bland, and uninspiring taste. I don't know why I'm seeing this exact same fried rice at so many weathered restaurants. By contrast, Daikim Express offers pork fried rice in their lunch specials that is a vibrant yellow smartly decorated with cheap mixed vegetables (peas and diced carrots). The amount of diced onions is much more generous and the pork is the delectable icing on the cake. Simply the best pork fried rice in MD. Take note, Yung's. Moving onto Yung's General Tso's chicken, the sauce is a different color than I expected--an orange-red instead of dark brown. I'm guessing they add a lot of red pepper powder, which isn't even that spicy. The chicken tastes pretty good, but about half of the pieces are stringy. I only wish the cook would add some steamed broccoli on the side like they do at Daikim Express. There's hardly any vegetables in Yung's lunch special, which makes me think that I shouldn't eat this food often. Finally, the price. You pay $5.95 for a healthy portion of General Tso's and fried rice. If they only add more vegetables and liven up their fried rice, I'd try to eat it all in one sitting. As it is, I'm leaving about 2/3 of it as leftovers, so I guess I'm saving some money. I feel bad for Baltimoreans since this lunch special isn't even a good value. At Daikim Express, you get the same portion plus a small soup of your choice for $5.35. The girl working the register is pretty friendly, though, so I added another star. Likely won't come back here anytime soon unless I have another strong craving for Chinese food. I might as well make the 35-minute drive up to Pasadena for the good stuff. read more

Terrible, absolutely horrendous. I waited an hour and 30 minutes for my food just to call them & be told they couldn't deliver to my location - which was .9 miles away. My girlfriend called then and another person answered, his story was that they delivered the food & called but nobody answered, I never received a phone call. There has been times before where I lived a street from this place & they said they couldn't deliver to me - I had to walk. This was our first time ordering from Yung's on Guilford. It was not good. My friend from Atlanta was here with his 2 kids so we decided to order the family dinner pack. He commented that they were hungry so they ate the food but he commented that the food was not tasty. I wasn't so hungry so I ate very little. The Singapore noodles with chicken was okay but for the most part the meal was not delicious. This was our first and last time. The brown rice the next 2 days was too soggy to eat. I was born and raised in NYC where Chinese food is amazing. I have been living in Maryland for 15 years now and I must say Yung's is the best I have had in Maryland. Their cheese steak rolls are amazing!!!! I have not found a place in Maryland that can match those amazing rolls. I have never had a bad meal there and I have ordered from them hundreds of times over the years. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired, but I think they are just responding to the lack of respect they get from customers in the area - they can be rather disrespectful to the staff. For that reason I am not taking away the star for bad customer service as I usually would. I vote Yung's the best Chinese food in the Baltimore Metro Area. read more
