I dropped in to get my daughter some food a few days ago. She ordered a rainbow roll-her favorite. She orders this wherever we go out for sushi. Pretty standard. The rainbow roll she was given had wasabi sauce drizzled all over it. We have never seen it served this way in all of her (and my) rainbow roll eating years. It is too spicy for her taste (she is 10). I talk to the waitress, and after some polite back and forth between me, her, the chef, the manager, and review of the menu description, they offer to make my daughter a new one. When they finally bring it out 20 minutes later, I observe that the fish on top is sliced Super thin (the original roll was kinda thin but not like this by any means). I kinda feel like this was retaliation or to make up for Their mistake/loss. I did not want to make a big deal about it bc we were already short on time and I didn't want to kill the mood with my daughter. But I am posting it here to say-- I have been a patron of this restaurant for probably 30 years. Over the last 6 years, Your food has been inconsistent. Boba tapioca balls sometimes mushy. Egg drop soup sometimes glue-y. Also--Baby corn does not belong in Beef and Broccoli. And bamboo shoots don't belong in Kung Pao chicken. The inconsistency is that sometimes you include these ingredients and sometimes you don't. The back of your dining room, near the bathrooms, has a weird smell. Your chow mein noodles are good. Duck sauce tastes funky. Tables are sticky. And booth seats need repair as the leather is peeling. Your menus need wiping. Tom Yum soup excellent. Staff super friendly. Egg foo young sauce sometimes good, sometimes misses the mark. Delivery drivers excellent. To go packaging is superior. Bathroom cleanliness was just okay. After the last experience, I don't know that I will return. There's another place to get Boba on Hospital drive. I just don't like how you shorted my daughter like that. They also offer several amazing drink options like , Boba & Spirited Beverages . We opted for the Lunch Special. They're HUGE portions for under $10. I tried Shrimp Egg Foo Yung with Fried Rice . Let's start off with the fact that usually they have good food, especially when the order has been taking the way it should be! However I called in an order I said how I wanted my vegetable fried rice to be, and it was the most awful fried rice I have had in many years! It was merely just fried rice they already had sitting there that they give everybody with chicken wings I would presume there was hardly no vegetables definitely no extra onion, and very very little of peace and carrots really no egg and no bean sprouts hardly through it it was terrible which tells me I'm better off eating it inside or just not ordering it ever again from them! This was probably the worst Chinese food we've ever had. Went in on Christmas night, place was total chaos. 1 waiter serving the entire restaurant, 1 person taking orders. Placed our take out order and was told 20 minutes (thought this was a stretch since there were approximately 20 people ahead of us but ok). 1 hour and 34 minutes later our food came. took it home less than 5 minutes away. Hot and sour soup was just broth nothing else. wonton soup had 2 wontons in it. Order was missing Lemon chicken although the sauce was there, also 2 orders of hot mayo were missing. The fried wontons were disgusting the one I did eat was either way over cooked or very old. The sushi wasn't much better. Heard the person taking orders say "it was like this last year". I get orders for pickup here all the time for the GB zone. I had an order the other night which blew my mind at how amazing it smelled. Well I came back today to try it for myself. Yes. Lady at front is grumpy. Also very focused on getting all the orders coming in correct. Her Chinese is a dialect that sounds harsh and angry to American ears but may not be. She sat me and made my drink and took my order until the waiter was available. Waiter was attentive. Food brought out was hot, fresh and flavorful. I had the $12 sashimi lunch and the $7.95 pork chowmein with fried rice. Both fresh and good however the tuna was abnormally red and the Wasabi was super green. Sushi rice was DECENT. Miso soup was super flavorful. Hold the salt. California rolls tasty. I also enjoyed the Pineapple dream for $6.95. The drinks here are dirt cheap. Solid lunch for literally $25. I'd come back again if I was in the area. Larger place than you might think. I think they would likely benefit from rebranding and maybe doing a lunchtime buffet, but their carryout action is killing it so they may not need to do anything. I called them 3 times during this time, had to use different phone each time as my number was blocked! Went up to restaurant, only to be told my food was 10 minutes away. When it finally arrived, it was barely room temperature, and had 3 things missing. Didn't call to complain, I just won't go back. We wanted to try out new places in the areas, so we ordered and picked up a small feast from here on a movie date night. We ordered sesame chicken, bourbon chicken, shrimp tempura, egg rolls (came with the bourbon chicken combo), spring rolls, crab rangoons, dumplings, egg drop soup (came with the bourbon chicken combo). We only made it through about half the food, but we wanted to try everything! Overall, I'd say this place was okay. Nothing was bad, but the only two standouts were the crab rangoons- they were big and had a nice proportion of crab/cream cheese flavor- and the egg rolls. The spring roll had a bit of an odd flavor to it. The steamed dumplings tasted more strongly of chicken than pork (my husband prefers pork). The shrimp tempura was pretty good, and better if you used the dipping sauce that came with it, but it tasted like it needed salt. I'd say that somehow, almost all the food items tasted salty but like they still needed salt. I'm not quite sure what to do with that information, but that is how both me and my husband felt. The rest of the food I would put as "average Chinese-American takeout." I'm not sure I would order from here again, since I have found a local Chinese place that I like a lot, but my husband did appreciate how they had a blend of Chinese and Japanese food (e.g., the tempura) and thought he would order from here again if he was craving a mix of dishes. read more
