2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD OR DCSB

I recently bought a used truck from Terry at Szott M-59. It had just come in on a trade and had not been checked over or cleaned. It was just what I was looking for, and he let me test drive it. Both Terry and the sales Manager Paul were low pressure and very helpful. It really came across that they deeply cared about making the customer happy. We came to a very fair price and the truck was to be checked and cleaned and would pick it up. When I picked it up it was still dirty and the owners manual packet was missing. Terry made it right and got the manual to me. This is an area that needs improvement and Terry told me they are looking at other options for cleaning, but overall buying this truck was a very good experience.

I made a decision for a very expensive repair that was based on information from the service writer, whom later stated he didn't understand what the technician was saying about the repair issue. And to add insult to injury, after having my Truck for 3 weeks, we had to go back because the service codes were never reset and the dealership failed to include my employee discount on parts. I went three months of chasing the service manager down every which time I was told they were still trying to find me a rental car. Finally, the check engine light went off, and my backseat will not work and I reached out to the general manager, Craig, who did get me into a rental car, and said we'd get everything handled right away. My car is at the dealership now, +4 weeks, and still has not even been serviced, I get a message daily saying I'm next on the list.., Craig the GM has gone radio silent.

We recently had a customer come to us extremely upset after visiting this dealership, and for good reason -- he was given blatantly incorrect and misleading information about a transmission we installed. The vehicle was fitted with a Jasper remanufactured transmission, which includes a new torque converter as part of the unit. The dealership told the customer the torque converter had not been replaced. This claim is false and also impossible to verify without removing the transmission -- something they did not do. They also told the customer the transmission contained the "wrong fluid." Again, this is an unsubstantiated claim. Fluid type cannot be identified without taking a sample and having it tested, which was not performed. The transmission was filled with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic LV HP, exactly as required by Jasper. To add to the misinformation, the dealership pointed out a zip-tied shifter cable as if it were related to the transmission install. The vehicle arrived in that condition, and this is a very common, well-documented issue on these Chevrolet trucks. The manufacturer has since updated the part. Replacing the shifter cable is a separate repair, requiring additional labor and cost (typically around $500), which the customer had already declined due to budget limitations. Providing customers with technically inaccurate information -- especially information that cannot be verified without disassembly -- is irresponsible and creates unnecessary confusion and stress. We stand fully behind our work, which was completed to Jasper's exact specifications. Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others to question the accuracy of technical explanations given here.

I was beyond impressed with the overall car buying/leasing experience at Waterford Mitsubishi. This…read morewas much different from the stereotypical experience one expects from an auto dealership. My salesman, Marquise "York" Tally was outstanding. Some auto dealerships talk about how the customer comes first, but this dealership, and specifically Tally, lives this mission daily. He puts his customers first making sure they're educated about the vehicle they purchase without all the high pressure tactics you've come to expect from the industry. Besides treating you like royalty, Talley also makes sure that you're receiving the best deal possible without throwing in needless add-ins at the end to bloat the price and confuse you. To tell you how much Tally cares about the customer experience, while I was waiting for my new '24 Outlander PHEV to be prepped for purchase, he bought me dinner and personally delivered it to the dealership. I've never had a car salesman do that. Heck, my wife wouldn't even do that. This isn't something he did to persuade me to purchase the car since I had already signed the papers. He did this out of the goodness of his heart and to create a customer for life. During my original test drive, he went out and purchased a Starbucks beverage of my choosing. I've never received this level of appreciation from my former salesman at the Acura or Lincoln dealership. And those are considered "luxury" brands where the dealership experience is supposed to be at a higher level. Neither beat the Waterford Mitsubishi experience. Even after I signed on the dotted the line, the royal treatment continued by both the finance and sales manager. Each of them made sure I was completely satisfied with my purchase and that any issues I had with my new Mitsubishi, were remedied to my satisfaction. Folks, I've been to many auto dealerships throughout the years. Simply put, this was the best auto dealership I've ever been to. If you're in the market for a new Mitsubishi or a used vehicle, take a trip out to beautiful Waterford, Michigan and experience this gem of a dealership. No matter how far you live from the dealership, it's worth the trip to experience an A++++ auto buying experience. Be sure to ask for "York." And tell him Brett sent you. P.S. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a fantastic vehicle. I recommend the SUV as much as I do the dealership.

Everything was going great until it came time to fill out some paperwork. Gillette handed me unfilled out paperwork and ask for my signature. I told him I was uncomfortable signing unfilled out paperwork and if he could fill it out first. He said he didn't want to fill it out because he didn't want to put in the wrong information. It was for a $500 rebate we all agreed upon. He said his manager would fill it out later. I had a bad feeling in my gut because this was so unprofessional. I took the paper with me until the manager could fill it out. He handed me more things to sign that you couldn't even read because the ink blurred out the words. I told him to reprint it so I can see what I'm signing. Turns out we weren't even getting the car that we agreed on from the beginning, and it had a total different VIN #! They had us thinking it was the car we originally came in for. The manager just said well we are almost finished with the signing, so let's just continue anyway. The car price that we came for was a $650 difference, and he wouldn't give us that same deal. I forgot to bring back the rebate paperwork because he never offered to fill it out in front of me with my signature. He made me come back, which made me super late to pick up my child from school. I told him if he would have filled out the paperwork correctly the first time instead of being shady, I wouldn't have to come back and do this. I told him I won't sign unless he filled out the paperwork in front of me first. He then rights 500 with no dollar sign and asked me to sign. We later learned that the rebate was actually $2,500, and he just gave us $500. I wonder where the other $2000 will go and why he wanted to fill out my rebate for later after I signed..... watch out for this place.

The truck wasn't detailed as promised, dog hair, coffee stains, salty road residue still in the fenders and hardly any of the major scratches (through the paint) were disclosed. This would have been a key factor in comparing some of the other trucks I was considering purchasing. Some were attempted to be repaired unprofessionally and made it even worse. The cost to fix these will put this truck hundreds, if not a thousand or more than some of the trucks half the distance from me. Anthony sold me a "ceramic coat." Tried charging $1200 for it, I caved at half to just get the deal done. When I got it, it didn't even feel like it was waxed, let alone coated. When I had the car detailed to how I thought it should have arrived by a professional, he said the truck was never ceramic coated. Worst part is the truck had wheel locks on it, but no lock key. When I tried to get ahold of Anthony he said he tried calling back a couple times. Nothing in my voicemail or missed calls. (This wouldn't be the first time). The kicker is, we had been texting and emailing as well, if he wanted to get ahold of me he could have used multiple approaches, he simply didn't want to. I tried calling both used car managers after he never called me back as promised to rectify the lock issue. I guessed at their email because they weren't calling back from the voicemails I left. I opened up chats on the website and asked for them to call me, nothing. I even called the dealership again, they said they had seen one manager in that day and would hand deliver them a message, nothing. So then I reluctantly emailed (pretty much the only form of communication I knew Anthony would answer) the receipt from drilling out the wheel locks. It's been over two weeks and I haven't seen a penny. There probably aren't a lot of clients that can just float them a $400 loan. Everything on their website says they treat you like family. This experience (my fourth) of buying a car sight unseen hasnt been that great and makes me second guess doing it again. Edit: So after Anthony tried to essentially blackmail me into changing my review in order to get reimbursed, Eric Smith, one of the managers, called me today and was able to get approval for a check for the lugs I bought and detailing I had to get done. He gets it, was very professional and made it all happen within about an hour after hearing about the situation. I can see why he is a manager and takes care of his customers.

The repair was later denied by the warranty company due to moisture in the intercooler, citing a factory service bulletin. I only learned this after contacting the warranty company myself, as the shop did not explain the denial. When I went to the shop in person to ask why I was told the car was fine while the warranty company was given a different reason, I asked what was actually wrong with the turbo. I was first told there was a crack. When I asked to see it, the foreman technician changed his statement to "there might be a crack," then admitted he had not inspected the turbo at all. Despite this, the shop continued to recommend replacing the turbo and could not show any confirmed defect. When I questioned why a part was being recommended for replacement without inspection, the response I received was, "we fix cars here." This issue is covered under Chevrolet service bulletin 18-NA-020, which outlines the proper repairs for moisture in the intercooler. Instead of following the bulletin, the shop attempted to use it as justification to sell an unverified turbo replacement. I refused all work, and they would not provide any paperwork for my visit.
