When you eat it with the oxtail and rice, the flavors of each item balanced each other out. I just needed a hint of more spice & heat. The cabbage was bland ehhhh.... I am a big fan of Mr. Bills reviews for the local places here on Yelp so when I saw how much he enjoyed T&D, I told hubby we needed to try it. Hubby got the jerk chicken, I selected the Brown stew chicken. The servings are very big. We only got the medium size but both of us had leftovers for the next day - and we can eat. I'm embarrassed to admit I stole his plantains that came with his order. I loved LOVED them. I would def. encourage y'all to add a small order of them because they were so delicious. His jerk chicken was really flavorful. Sides - that cabbage is so yummy - were overflowing. I didn't really care for my meal or the drinks. I think it was mostly my fault however, because I am not familiar with the dish and there are certain spices I am not a fan of. I believe there were a couple of those in the brown stew. So I've been stuck is BFE, Illinois since October recovering from breaking several bones in my foot and the ONE thing I miss about not being home is the various cultures and cuisines I've come to love, Jamaican being #1. I was in the Clarksville/Hopkinsville area and the craving hit me hard, so I relied on my Yelpers to help me find a good spot! We would have dined-in, but Covid, so my boyfriend and I both ordered the Large Jerk Chicken. I ordered my hot sauce on the side and he wanted his on top of the chicken. His mistake because hot is extremely hot. I laughed at his tears and grasps for water. I probably shouldn't have, but it's too late for that now. There was beyond enough chicken on one plate for the two of us, in addition to rice and peas, cabbage, but not plantain because I don't share those. The Jerk chicken here is very good and spicy just as it is supposed to be. They do add a sweet sauce on top although it is optional I would highly recommend getting it. This was a unique and interesting experience - today was my first time there. The cashier and I just didn't click which I'm okay with - I think there was just miscommunication. With that said,...moving on to the food. I ordered curry goat and they had just ran out, and I have no problem when that happens; I just figure that must be a popular dish. Also, I guess I'm just used to Jamaican food tasting a certain way and not tasting... that way. Moving on, I then ordered the oxtails and some pieces were more "fall off the bone" than others (minus 1 star) - I'm used to all of the pieces being "fall off the bone." The rice was different-tasting and the meal came with a lot of grease (minus 1 star). I'm used to oxtails being a bit greasy, but this seemed a lot greasy. Lastly, it seemed as though ALL of the flies in the Fort Campbell / Oak Grove area came there to hang out (minus 1 star) and enjoy the loud music - imo music in restaurants should play the background, not center stage. I think T & D stands for "Too many Damn flies in the restaurant." I just moved here from Texas and wanted to try the local Jamaican spot. The building left much to be desired but the inside was clean and tidy. The staff for the most part was pleasant. I ordered the jerk curry chicken meal and it tasted quite bland and needed more seasoning. I had authentic Jamaican food before both in the states and overseas. This might be the worst tasting food I've had. I would recommend more passion in the food by the cooks and for people to go elsewhere. I wouldn't eat here again or recommend this place to friends. They ask if you'd like sauce (gravy) over the rice and give their recommendations based on your choice. It was too much rice to me compared to the portion of meat and cabbage. I've also never been to a place that gives ONE plantain chunk. They offer an array of drinks (sodas, juice) and jerk seasoning sauce for your own kitchens. You can pay via credit card or cash, and they are relatively quick with filling orders.
