Vegan Plate (large): BBQ Jackfruit, arroz con gandules, cabbage. DELICIOUS!

On my first visit, I ordered a large vegan plate with BBQ Jerk Jackfruit, arroz con gandules, y cabbage. Soy cubana pues I felt obliged to add some Cuban black beans as well. Then I was informed that their Festival is also vegan, so despite my gluten intolerance, I had to try those too. JACKFRUIT- This vegan wonder fruit requires some serious prep, otherwise it ends up being bland and boring. When I saw the big chunks of jackfruit I was worried, thinking it'd be lacking in flavor. I have never been so happy to be wrong! The have excelled at the near impossible feat of thoroughly marinating every single nano inch of each piece of jackfruit. The flavor and texture were phenomenal! I was so impressed! 10/10 ARROZ CON GANDULES - Very good in a subtle way. Perfect combination with the jackfruit and Cuban Black Beans. CABBAGE- Delicious!! CUBAN BLACK BEANS- The test with beans is to try them by themselves before adding them to rice. These beans passed the test. Very flavorful on their own. FESTIVAL- Cooked fresh (made to order). Delicious! They also have a nice array of fresh juices and lemonades. The juices are $2 higher than the lemonades. I tried the following: Pineapple Ginger Juice - so fresh!! Real pineapple, real ginger. Tasted like it was just made that day. 10/10 Strawberry Mango was very good too. I went back the next day and tried their collard greens, Jamaican rice and peas, and habichuelas. They were all very good. I also ordered a gallon of the Pineapple Ginger juice. My coworker got the salmon and said that it tasted better the second day than the first time. Riddim n' Spice successfully executes various flavors and dishes from across the West Indies. You feel an irie vibe as soon as you enter; and I received a warm welcome as soon as I walked in the door. It's a spacious restaurant with a dedicated parking lot, so bring your whole crew.

Oh, how I love this place! The people are always nice & the restaurant is always playing some music to get you going. My favorite menu item is the build your bowl. You can choose your protein, sauce, & 4 toppings. My bowl usually consist of jerk chicken, trini fried rice, honey jerk sauce, corn, sweet n tangy peppers, & caramelized onions; however, their menu changed a few months ago & they no longer have the sweet n tangy peppers, but they have added diced sweet potatoes & broccoli to the menu- so that's what I added in. The sweet potatoes are fye! I can honestly eat those by themselves. And the bowl was amazing per usual.

Let me tell you, YOU HAVE TO GET TO RIDDIM N' SPICE. Kamal, the owner, truly does not play. Some of the best chicken and greens we have ever had. Nothing subpar. All top tier. So grateful this is a part of our Nashville food scene.

Got takeout, and really enjoyed it. I got a plate with lamb, Puerto Rican rice, sweet potatoes, mango cucumber salad, and some other veggies. The honey garlic sauce is tasty and the lamb has great flavor. It's a bit chewy in certain places and I do feel like the portion should've been slightly larger. But I did enjoy!!

My brother put me on to Riddim a few years ago. Back then, the vibe was great every time I would walk in. The food was delicious too. I've brought friends from Georgia here to eat, previously. I recently came back to the city, and we stopped to get food here. I'm not sure if they changed ownership, but everything was off. The guy who took our order(never seen before, but it's been a couple years), his energy was bland and uninviting. I've always ordered their bowl with all of the veggies, but in the past I've gotten the rice and peas as the base. This time, I got the trini rice as the base; it had way too much turmeric. I got the regular jerk sauce on my bowl and it was underwhelming, previously I would get the sweeter version which may be the bbq jerk sauce. Previously, I would get most of the veggie toppings to make my veggie bowl, but it's limited 4 toppings now. I eyed the jackfruit, but decided not to get it because it was the whole pieces. I'm experienced with jackfruit and you must shred it to maximize flavor; it's not something to just toss in sauce haha. I opted not to set myself up on this visit by adding it. They were out of the cucumber lime drink and the drinks come in bottles instead of cups now. The pikliz was pretty good... Overall, It was not a good experience. I'm sad because I use to enjoy this spot and really looked forward to my visit.

Excellent simple Caribbean spot! Relatively small menu but that's not a bad thing. They know what they do and they do it well. The curry goat was fantastic, so tender, rich, and flavorful. The rice was also good and soaked up the curry juices well. The mac and cheese was baked (just how I prefer), and had a grest blend of cheeses. Plus it had some richness. All around a great plate of generous portions!

Was visiting from Memphis for the day and wanted some Jamaican food. And found this on Yelp. This was my first time seeing a cafeteria style set up Jamaican place. The food was well seasoned. The only thing was it was a a lot of fatty pieces to the oxtail. I don't eat oxtail a lot so I'm not sure if that's normal or not. And since the food is served cafeteria style it not as hot as I would like it. I like my food steaming hot. This was just like a normal to Luke warm hot. But overall still very tasty!

I have been several times and the jerk chicken has always been my go to. All of the sauces are top tier. I was disappointed on my most recent visit to find out they no longer served white meat chicken and they only had legs and thighs. The service is always great and always remember to grab a rum cake at checkout.

Riddim n Spice/Rum Room is such a Nashville gem! I've been numerous times and just now getting to write a review. It's a carribean fast casual restaurant downstairs and a bar upstairs. My favorite meal I've had was the plantain French toast for brunch. It's been months since I've had it and I still remember what it taste like. The service is always good whether downstairs or upstairs. They have vegan options as well! Parking is easy and plentiful. Sometimes they host events and parties which can get pretty crowded so make sure to follow their IG to find the best time to go.

We've been to Riddim many times and every time it is the best experience. Every time friends, family or even coworkers come into town we take them here, specifically to the upstairs Rum Room. Great prices, amazing food, BIG portions, I don't know if I could name a brunch place that tops this location. Not in these photos, but the build your own bowls downstairs are also great!

I just went here. I remember it many years ago - the food was juicy and delicious. I got a large plate jerk chicken plantains and side of oxtails. Almost 50$ When I tell yall that this place has changed. The smell of the food itself was bad. The rice was dry, no flavor The plantains were fry and somehow tasteless The Jerk chicken?!?? This one upset me. Because it used to be so good. The chicken was so dry and tasteless as well I'm questioning if they just gave me a bad batch but I can never go here again to try it out. Stopped here because it's a DDD. Had the bowls, one with shrimp and one with chicken. Both were quite tasty. I don't normally like this type of food but this was good, still a little spicy to where I needed a drink but that's just me lol read more

While in Nashville we were looking for something that wasn't nearby where we were staying. We found this place on Yelp and ordered right before they were closing for pickup. We ended up getting their large chicken plate with a side of rice. The chicken was succulent and flavorful. It came with some original jerk watery sauce that was pours into our to go container. It was a little messy but we dealt. We also got it with mac n cheese which was too salty but still good. We got yellow rice and a side of rice and beans. The yellow rice was okay. We enjoyed the rice and beans one better. The girl at the counter was very nice. We ended up paying $17 for our meal which we though was very affordable considering how much meat we received. We just picked up our order and didn't dine there. The restaurant has its own parking lot which makes it easy. read more

I got the BBQ Jerk chicken plate w/ fried plantain & green beans. The plantains I was not a fan of as I think the warming tray dried them out and made them tough/rubbery. Green beans had a really good flavor although were a bit stringy. I liked them overall. The chicken was SO good. It was like a really good grilled bbq chicken from somebody's cookout. I found the actual jerk seasoning to be barely noticeable though. I'd go back for the chicken. read more

Yes, their food and service is consistent. The atmosphere is of course caribbean. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and the music is always bumpin'! The sitting downstairs is hard but the lighting is bright. So if ambience and comfort is important - enjoy the lounge upstairs. read more

Looking for great vibes, music, culture, and FOOD, do not leave Nashville without going (maybe even twice). They have ample parking in the free lot and also street parking available. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I paid $30 on everything for what? there was literally NO jerk sauce on my chicken. like NONE I'm not even joking. everything was so dry and bland Then i paid extra for boneless but they gave me bone in anyway. Worst "Jamaican" food i've ever had. I genuinely can't believe they played in my face like this. If you want authentic i wouldn't come here. Definitely did not expect to find such quality Jamaican food in Nashville, but boy was I wrong. The chicken was very tender (I got dark meat), Plantains were sweet and not too greasy and Mac and cheese was tasty. My only complaint was that I wish the jerk was spicier, however if you ask they can add extra hot peppers to the jerk or you can also buy a side of pickli which was a perfect addition. Their prices are also not bad for the amount of food you get, I ordered the large jerk chicken and my meal was $19. The eating area is very clean and they play nice music on the speakers as you eat. read more

I would like to come back. We came for Rum room but it was closed at 7pm on a Weds though the site says hours vary but it would be open. You pick your food like a cafeteria but they keep your food behind the register until its paid for which means when you have a party of 4 & you are paying for all of them and food service isn't that quick, you food sits back there getting cold. If you order Rum cake, which was spectacular, in a To go container they tell you to go put your food down and come back and get it. Ok. The chicken was good though cold. I love trying new cuisines and I felt like Riddim N Spice does an amazing job at not only recreating Caribbean food but also their culture! It is fast casual so the service is pretty fast. There is also a mix of high and low top tables. The walls are bright colors and the music is pretty loud but it is a fun vibe! On Tuesdays from 2-5pm they have a $10 chicken bowl deal but you have to mention it to get the deal. I ended up getting the chicken bowl with a Jamaican rice and pea base and topped with black beans, caramelized onions, peppers, cucumber mango salad, and honey jerk sauce. The staff inside the restaurant portion were polite and patient, the bartenders are attentive and friendly, and the DJ on Tuesday (I believe is Tika) is AMAZING! The patio area is small but mighty, decorated with island vibes, and has seating for small or large groups but be prepared to get your own table. There are apparently different specials depending on the night, so for Tuesdays there are $16 endless tacos on the patio (if you buy food inside you don't have to buy the tacos for patio entry, but you have to spend some kind of money to get back there lol) and there were $5 mango margs, house margs, and rum punch until 8:30p. We were passing through Nashville and wanted to support a black owned restaurant for lunch. This place came with good reviews and a few noted awards. The restaurant was nice and clean, staff friendly and a varied menu. I had the Island Bowl with shrimp, rice, honey jerk sauce and plantains & onions on top. The dish was tasty but the shrimp was over cooked. Probably from sitting around in the warmer pan too long. My partner had the ox tails which were not tender and lacked seasoning. Jamaciain food is on my list today. So here I am! I got the small dark chicken plate and my hubby got the large goat plate. My sides are the rice and peas and cabbage. Hubby got rice and peas and mango cucumber salad for his sides. I wanted the ox tails but I got here too late.....sold out! Food was pretty good and the restaurant is clean. Whatever other things you grab, make sure you grab a biscuit and get ahold of their homemade peach preserves. That stuff was 10/10 excellent. It's so good, they jar it and sell it at the front desk. one of the best italian restaurants i've been to recently!!…read more a couple cons- it took our reserved table for 8 an additional 20-25 mins to be prepared when we arrived, which was just a few minutes after our reservation time at 9pm on saturday night. luckily we were able to snag some bach trip photos outside while we waited, but it was a bit annoying we had to wait at all. however it was super busy at that time saturday night so it made sense. another "con" i should mention in case anyone has a preference for this- one of my friends didn't like how all the food came out so rapidly, but honestly, i didn't really mind this. it did feel a little "chaotic", but i was in awe of their efficient service and servers. a last con (so i guess more than a couple) is that when it came time for us to want our check, our server was nowhere to be found, despite being around for the rest of the meal. so it took us like 10 minutes to be able to get our check. it was the very end of the restaurant's opening time (11pm) so i'm sure this played a role, but that was a bit annoying. now in terms of all the great things about this restaurant- the service was mostly very efficient and the servers were very friendly. they had plenty of servers and staff so it made for a bustling experience. the food was AMAZING. a few of my notable favorites- the SHRIMP CAMPANELLE was DELICIOUS. very lemony flavor to warn those who prefer something more subtle. the broccolini, one of their more popular dishes, also met expectations. it had an asian kinda flavor- they specifically said a black garlic flavor. the polenta was also great - i've never had a polenta with bolognese sauce. the crostini was also great. and my cucumber spritz drink was super refreshing and yummy. overall, this was a truly amazing dining experience. they did mention the plates were small and kinda like tapas style but honestly the dishes were bigger than expected. our server recommended 2-3 dishes per person, and honestly i disagree. we ordered maybe about 12-14 dishes (i think?) for a party of 8, and we did have leftovers. honestly i really didn't mind the leftovers because it meant we were able to try more of their dishes, but just be mindful of how much you order id say. super happy with our experience here!! this was a highlight of my quick trip to nashville. i don't have that many good photos of the food this time, so source is 'just trust me bro'

We were very glad to be outside, as it was a bit noisy indoors for my parents. We did have a bit of an issue with our silverware being dirty when we arrived, but not entirely their fault as we were outside. The vodka pasta was the star of the show. It was excellent. We also had the calamari and the seafood pasta, which were both delicious. We have ordered the polenta bolognese before and loved it, but it felt a bit light on the bolognese today. We also really enjoyed the Crispy Cauliflower Piccata. Overall, this is a fun spot to come with your friends with very solid food! A bit on the pricey side for portion sizes, but cool atmosphere and great service.

We arrived just before 11:00 AM and were seated immediately. Even without a reservation, but I would recommend making one just to be sure you can get a table. They were already quite busy. And after having eaten there for the first time, I know why. First of all, everyone we encountered was an absolute pleasure. So nice that even our eight-year-old son commented on how nice everyone was. Dee (sp?) at the hostess stand, Tyler our server, and Kahlia the manager. Just perfectly pleasant and accommodating people. Now for the food. Absolute magic. Everything, and I mean everything, was outrageously delicious. And the portions were substantial. Our sons are pretty finicky eaters. And they loved it all. Hands-down, the best soul food I've ever eaten in my life. Comforting, but not too heavy. Perfectly seasoned. Perfectly cooked. Full of heart. I think the main things for me would be to simplify the menu and offer size options. Something like half a bagel or like a "classics variety" (like a variety cheesecake). So you could pick and choose quarters or maybe thirds. I was happy to see they had savory cream cheese options because they are so underrated. I also got their honey lavender lemonade which was fire and not too sweet. The staff were all great and it is clearly a pretty popular spot. Overall no issues and I will probably go again.

What a unique combo, the pecan flavor was delicious without overpowering the drink. The pastries look so nice that I'm convinced people don't actually eat them. I'll definitely be stopping by to try a "mango" or a Dubai chocolate croissant before I leave Nashville. Really glad I stayed near such a charming cafe!
