I did ask for my meat without the sauce. This one tasted a little better.

I just went here. I remember it many years ago - the food was juicy and delicious. I got a large plate jerk chicken plantains and side of oxtails. Almost 50$ When I tell yall that this place has changed. The smell of the food itself was bad. The rice was dry, no flavor The plantains were fry and somehow tasteless The Jerk chicken?!?? This one upset me. Because it used to be so good. The chicken was so dry and tasteless as well I'm questioning if they just gave me a bad batch but I can never go here again to try it out. Too much money wasted right now for something I will not be eating.

Vegan Plate (large): BBQ Jackfruit, arroz con gandules, cabbage. DELICIOUS!

On my first visit, I ordered a large vegan plate with BBQ Jerk Jackfruit, arroz con gandules, y cabbage. Soy cubana pues I felt obliged to add some Cuban black beans as well. Then I was informed that their Festival is also vegan, so despite my gluten intolerance, I had to try those too. JACKFRUIT- This vegan wonder fruit requires some serious prep, otherwise it ends up being bland and boring. When I saw the big chunks of jackfruit I was worried, thinking it'd be lacking in flavor. I have never been so happy to be wrong! The have excelled at the near impossible feat of thoroughly marinating every single nano inch of each piece of jackfruit. The flavor and texture were phenomenal! I was so impressed! 10/10 ARROZ CON GANDULES - Very good in a subtle way. Perfect combination with the jackfruit and Cuban Black Beans. CABBAGE- Delicious!! CUBAN BLACK BEANS- The test with beans is to try them by themselves before adding them to rice. These beans passed the test. Very flavorful on their own. FESTIVAL- Cooked fresh (made to order). Delicious! They also have a nice array of fresh juices and lemonades. The juices are $2 higher than the lemonades. I tried the following: Pineapple Ginger Juice - so fresh!! Real pineapple, real ginger. Tasted like it was just made that day. 10/10 Strawberry Mango was very good too. I went back the next day and tried their collard greens, Jamaican rice and peas, and habichuelas. They were all very good. I also ordered a gallon of the Pineapple Ginger juice. My coworker got the salmon and said that it tasted better the second day than the first time. Riddim n' Spice successfully executes various flavors and dishes from across the West Indies. You feel an irie vibe as soon as you enter; and I received a warm welcome as soon as I walked in the door. It's a spacious restaurant with a dedicated parking lot, so bring your whole crew.

I have been several times and the jerk chicken has always been my go to. All of the sauces are top tier. I was disappointed on my most recent visit to find out they no longer served white meat chicken and they only had legs and thighs. The service is always great and always remember to grab a rum cake at checkout.

Oh, how I love this place! The people are always nice & the restaurant is always playing some music to get you going. My favorite menu item is the build your bowl. You can choose your protein, sauce, & 4 toppings. My bowl usually consist of jerk chicken, trini fried rice, honey jerk sauce, corn, sweet n tangy peppers, & caramelized onions; however, their menu changed a few months ago & they no longer have the sweet n tangy peppers, but they have added diced sweet potatoes & broccoli to the menu- so that's what I added in. The sweet potatoes are fye! I can honestly eat those by themselves. And the bowl was amazing per usual.

Buckle up, Yelpers. I'm about to give the best review I've probably ever given on this platform. Just went to Riddim n' Spice today. I've been to restaurants in maybe over 20 countries on 4 continents. This has to be on my Mt. Rushmore of restaurants. The flavor of the food is absolutely amazing. One of the best mac n cheeses I've ever had. The spicy jerk sauce was amazing. The jerk chicken was amazing. The lamb shanks were amazing. All three rices were among the best I've ever had. I can go on and on. I'm from a Caribbean background myself, but I've always been a little bit of an outlier where I've never enjoyed Caribbean food that much. It never lacks in the seasoning department obviously, but most times I usually find that it lacks balance. I found Riddim n' Spice to be the complete opposite. Riddim n' Spice has the seasoning of Caribbean food with the culinary understanding of French food. For example, the lamb shanks were like braised short ribs with an accent. In my opinion they understand how to really COOK at Riddim n' Spice, not just how to season. If you read any of my other reviews you'll quickly realize just how much of an emphasis I put on value. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED MORE VALUE FROM A RESTAURANT IN MY LIFE THAN I HAVE FROM RIDDIM N' SPICE. If I had to rank the restaurants I've been to in my life by value received, this spot would be 1 through 10 and everyone else would start at 11. I got 2 large leg and thigh plates with rice and peas and sweet plantains, 2 large lamb shanks plates (2 lamb shanks per plate) with yellow rice and mac n cheese, and a large goat with Trini rice and cabbage. I have enough food for a week easily, and that's a conservative estimate. There is honestly no point in doing grocery anymore when a place like this exists. When the employee was loading my plate up with goat, I almost wanted to tell her to stop, but I didn't know if that was sacrilege at a Caribbean restaurant to tell her to stop. The amount of food she was packing into this tray was mind blowing. I had to take most of the food home. I just spent the last hour cleaning out my fridge in order to reclaim containers just to store this stuff in. I'm still dumbfounded at the amount of food I got from this spot and how good it is. I live in Franklin so I live a good hour away from Riddim n' Spice, but I guarantee you, over the next year this will be the spot that I most visit over any other restaurant. I dare someone to audit me on that claim. If Riddim n' Spice ever shuts down I will riot in a way that has the FBI raising its eyebrows. If the founder of this spot runs for governor of Tennessee I will vote for you if you're reading this. Peace.

Let me tell you, YOU HAVE TO GET TO RIDDIM N' SPICE. Kamal, the owner, truly does not play. Some of the best chicken and greens we have ever had. Nothing subpar. All top tier. So grateful this is a part of our Nashville food scene.

    LAMB PLATE

Got takeout, and really enjoyed it. I got a plate with lamb, Puerto Rican rice, sweet potatoes, mango cucumber salad, and some other veggies. The honey garlic sauce is tasty and the lamb has great flavor. It's a bit chewy in certain places and I do feel like the portion should've been slightly larger. But I did enjoy!!

My brother put me on to Riddim a few years ago. Back then, the vibe was great every time I would walk in. The food was delicious too. I've brought friends from Georgia here to eat, previously. I recently came back to the city, and we stopped to get food here. I'm not sure if they changed ownership, but everything was off. The guy who took our order(never seen before, but it's been a couple years), his energy was bland and uninviting. I've always ordered their bowl with all of the veggies, but in the past I've gotten the rice and peas as the base. This time, I got the trini rice as the base; it had way too much turmeric. I got the regular jerk sauce on my bowl and it was underwhelming, previously I would get the sweeter version which may be the bbq jerk sauce. Previously, I would get most of the veggie toppings to make my veggie bowl, but it's limited 4 toppings now. I eyed the jackfruit, but decided not to get it because it was the whole pieces. I'm experienced with jackfruit and you must shred it to maximize flavor; it's not something to just toss in sauce haha. I opted not to set myself up on this visit by adding it. They were out of the cucumber lime drink and the drinks come in bottles instead of cups now. The pikliz was pretty good... Overall, It was not a good experience. I'm sad because I use to enjoy this spot and really looked forward to my visit.

Curry goat with rice and mac n cheese

Excellent simple Caribbean spot! Relatively small menu but that's not a bad thing. They know what they do and they do it well. The curry goat was fantastic, so tender, rich, and flavorful. The rice was also good and soaked up the curry juices well. The mac and cheese was baked (just how I prefer), and had a grest blend of cheeses. Plus it had some richness. All around a great plate of generous portions!

Was visiting from Memphis for the day and wanted some Jamaican food. And found this on Yelp. This was my first time seeing a cafeteria style set up Jamaican place. The food was well seasoned. The only thing was it was a a lot of fatty pieces to the oxtail. I don't eat oxtail a lot so I'm not sure if that's normal or not. And since the food is served cafeteria style it not as hot as I would like it. I like my food steaming hot. This was just like a normal to Luke warm hot. But overall still very tasty!

We were staying downtown so This was about a 35 mins plus walk From the thick of tourist town. Ambiance: it's a little shack with barstool Type seating that goes fast. Service: not quick.. but that's okay because It's worth the wait . It was about 45 mins For our order and within a two hour time Frame I couldn't count the amount of people In and out . Food: I got the pimento hot chicken sandwich in medium. It had a little kick but I like spicy and could've went up a notch. It Was perfect ! Good breading, flavor profile and the chicken was piping hot! We also Ordered the pimento Mac n cheese which Was fire . I also had the mustard potato salad..again... absolutely delicious. I tried Hattie B's two days later and there's no comparison whatsoever . Come here for Nashville Hot chicken .. you won't regret it!

Fries were average - hot & seasoned but nothing special! I didn't have any of the other sides although I would love to try them if I make it back! We did wait 45 minutes for the food - but they have a sign flashing which tells you the wait time BEFORE you order so this was nothing surprising! Would recommend everyone to try it out if they make it to Nashville

We got the fried tenders (medium) which comes with two sides. We got the fries, baked beans and also added a side of southern greens for an additional cost. You order at the register and they bring your food out to you. Mostly indoor seating but they do have a small patio out front. The spice level was just enough to tingle your taste buds but still get to taste all the spices. The tender pieces were huge! The chicken was not overly dry. The crust was crunchy but not overly breaded. Very well done. It comes with two slices of bread as well. For the sides the fries were perfectly crispy and potato-y. The beans were standard and not too sweet. The southern greens had such a good flavor as well and not overly salted. The service really was so nice. We were constantly checked on and tables cleared. We were splitting our meal and they graciously brought out an extra basket with our meal already split for us which was nice.
