The food was cooked on the spot, the portions great and the cashier assisted in taking the food to the car. The place was clean, the music at an appropriate volume. Will def eat there again.

I came in here for lunch at this mom and pop restuarant. It serves Caribbean/ Spanish style dishes. They have a selection of pre made food on hot plates which you can select from a variety of meats and or rice or pasta (approximately per $9 plate). They also have a menu for made to order food that take approximately 15 minutes. We ordered the pasta with the roast chicken leg, the empinadas, the crunch pork bites, and the braised chicken with white rice. The crunch pork bites may have been over cooked because you can't eat the skin. It was super hard and was extremely chewy. The empinadas were okay. The pasta was over cooked but had good flavors. The braised chicken was a bit on the dry side. The staff working was super friendly and offered us some spicy sauce to go with our food which was deliciously but very spicy! There was plenty of parking located in the front. Overall, the staff was super nice, the resturant was clean however the food missed its mark for lunch for me today.

My first time here. Maybe if I'd picked a different meat, my rating would be different. I chose the smothered liver. My husband(whom loves this place) got the stewed pork. We came at lunchtime and the hot bar was set up, but only with 2 kinds of rice, pinto beans, and about 6 meats. The drinks were bottled, so no sweet tea. And I didn't see any veggies at all. But overall the service was good and fast since it was hot and read. I guess I'm not a big fan of just meat and rice. I need vegetables too.

Not sure how I haven't reviewed this place yet. We order arroz con gandules from here every year for Christmas. If I can get here every couple of months I am thrilled. Everything is always so good. I was on this side of town this past weekend and decided to treat myself. You can order off the menu or meat and sides from steam table. Arroz con gandules is a staple. You really can't go wrong with anything here.

The Restaurant its very clean, the tables are far enought from each other. The food its great, its like being in the Dominican Republic. I Like the decoration and the music at the restaurant too. If you would like a good spanish/caribean restaurant to go to when you are in Tennessee "Tropicana Restaurant" its your place.

The best restaurant in Clarksville. Easily! I wish I could live off of this food. Soooo authentic! Not to mention the staff is friendly!

Great place to eat authentic Puerto Rican/Dominican food!! If you there on Saturdays you need to try the Sancocho. This is my favorite plate there.

Very salty food, and I'm Puerto Rican. The food upset my stomach and got me in the bathroom right after I ate it.

A furious search later and we came upon 809. When I saw that the name and colors were legit, I felt good about bringing him here. We walked in on a Wednesday night and we were the only people in the bar. At the time, they were transitioning from being a bar & restaurant to just a bar. That meant that I would not be enjoying any mangu or sancocho. No me gusta. After sidling up to the bar* and having the bartender pick the wrong one of us to be Dominican, I opted to have a strong rum drink since I wouldn't be enjoying any food. She asked what I wanted and I told her to surprise me. Some blending later, I had a perfectly strong rum drink to make me feel like I was going to the islands. She told us that the weekend is the top time to check 809 out. From the ample bar space and pool tables in the venue, I thought that sounded right. She also mentioned that, to her knowledge, this was the only Dominican bar/restaurant in the Nashville area. That's just crazy. I know Nashville is still growing and the city hasn't fully settled into what it's going to be but... Imma need Nashville to hurry up and attract more of my peoples.** For right now, 809 is a solid 3.5 for me. The lack of food is a bummer and I'd need to see the joint in full swing to go up/down but for what I experienced, I appreciated what they're doing and I hope they have the business to support it. I'll be back. *An insane telenovela was playing above the bar, which made me all sorts of happy. **Depends on the day/circumstance.

They just opened their kitchen and are offering a variety of Dominican, Mexican and Central-American dishes. I tried their Sancocho (Caribbean beef stew) and Tacos (al pastor and Chorizo) which were excellent. Their tacos are very well seasoned and not too greasy. As an appetizer I recommend the fried plantains and fried yuca with Chicharrón. People are very friendly; do not be surprised if someone invites you to dance salsa or bachata. I really enjoyed this place; I highly recommend it.
