I went to dinner with my family of eight Celebrating a birthday . The service was poor. My food was wrong when it came and then it took 15 to 20 minutes to get the correct food. When the waitress brought out the cake (which she forgot that we were going to do and she asked everyone if they want a dessert) she didn't bring any silverware. I did speak to the manager. My mother was a catfish junkie, so recently to honor the anniversary of her passing my wife and I picked out this location to dine in her memory as it sounded like the sort of place she would have loved. As soon as I arrived, I knew we were right. It's tucked away from the road with plenty of parking, and housed in a farmhouse style cottage with lots of windows. Signs alert you that there is "no alcohol" on the premises, so don't come for happy hour. Service was friendly, prices incredibly economical. The food? About the best you can hope for for this type of affair. I had the trio, which came with a catfish fillet, 3 chicken tenders, and some butterfly shrimp. The platter also included coleslaw, hushpuppies, white beans, and the choice of another (I opted for a loaded baked potato). My wife had the 2-piece fish fillet meal and opted for fries as her chosen side. While my mom would have preferred the "whole" fish (she called them "fiddlers"), we felt the fillets would serve us close enough as a meal in memory since we didn't want to risk a spare bone. The fillets are tasty, breaded to perfection. Not too greasy, and as my wife noted which is sometimes not the case with catfish, not overtly "fishy" in flavor or aroma. Just really good. The tenders were great as well, tasted fresh and reminded me of tenders from a steakhouse rather than a fast food joint. The buttefly shrimp were great too. Hushpuppies very good, beans on point; coleslaw to me was a bit "meh", but it's rare for me to really love coleslaw. My platter came with an army of sauces (tartar, cocktail, honey mustard, butter, sour cream). The sweet tea is teeth-achingly sweet (wish I'd gone "half and half", but then again this fit the meal). Didn't have room for dessert but the fudgies and caramel pie sound terrific. An absolute hidden gem in Clarksville! We stopped in with huge appetites and were not disappointed. The menu is extensive, and everything we tried was delicious. I'm not even joking, they might have the best fried pickles I've ever had. And the key lime pie was to DIE FOR. Ok - This is the place to go - with the family - and eat out. Whatever the age, they do their best to accommodate. The food is very good as well. While you often have to wait to be seated due to the crowds they rocking chairs outside on the porch really help. Fried oysters, catfish, catfish strips, slaw, hush puppies, yum. Service is over the top good. Helpful, friendly, and responsive to needs and refills. Would definitely recommend eating here - just call to check hours and days open. read more

I haven't been here in awhile and my mom wanted some catfish so we went here. It was ok. The staff was friendly and the food was just ok. The catfish breading could have some more flavour to it or some saltiness at all. The mixed veggies was mostly broccoli stems and not much spears. Probably the best fried Catfish I have ever eaten. I have been going to this restaurant for years, originally in their former location and now in the present spot. I don't live close but it is on the route I take to visit family and some work related locations. It is one of those places you plan your trip around. Yes, it is that good! Besides the catfish, the sides are wonderful as well. I don't know how they cook fried fish and hushpuppies so that they never are the least bit greasy, but they certainly do! You want be disappointed! My latest visit was the day after Christmas '23 after we had unexpected chance to visit family for Christmas. The return home allowed us a stop at The Catfish House and as I have already said, it was an outstanding experience. read more

We were driving through clarksville and I am so glad we grabbed an early dinner here! We got the grilled catfish platter and catfish filet dinner. They come with a side of your choice, hush puppies, and Cole slaw. Both meals were around $15 and we ordered to go since we were here with our dog. Food was ready within 15 minutes and we enjoyed it thoroughly! The catfish was fried well, light, and crispy. The hush puppies also has a thin crispy outer cover and the inside was perfectly flavored in my opinion. Just a tad sweet and so scrumptious fresh. My grilled catfish was a little extra salty on some parts but overall, still good. The Cole slaw really balanced everything out. The portion size was very generous, so we had leftovers too. I've been going to CH since I was a kid, now in my mid 50s. It's my favorite catfish place. Look forward to eating there when I'm back in the area from NC visiting family. The Catfish house supersedes every Southern food restaurant I have ever been to in every way. I discovered the Catfish House by accident. I was looking for restaurants serving fish entrees and stumbled upon the Catfish House. The Entrance: I think every beautiful home, building, or magical place etc should give you a sense of arrival. It shouldn't be "WHOMP there it is in neon lights". The entrance is a long and winding road through a canopy of trees. Ideal. The Restaurant at first sight: The Catfish House looks like a humble and simple building or a large home in the country surrounded by woods. Inside you feel like you are in a home not a restaurant. You feel very comfortable instantly. This is how a restaurant should feel: very approachable and familiar like a beloved mother or grandma. When you step on the porch of the restaurant, you instantly smell the aroma of delicious food. A good sign. The Server: Emma Very professional, friendly, and efficient. I was so impressed by her service and Sunny attitude. She actually seemed happy to work and be at the Catfish house. I love condiments, and she happily accommodated all of them. She is one of the best servers I ever had in my life. I would request her again. She wrote a sweet little note on our receipt. She, also, wrote out a recipe of condiments and sides of tomato & rice pilaf with one of the orders of Cajun and simple chicken on their menu on paper for me. The Food: You know when your lunch date smiles after taking the first bite of food that it is going to be a good date. The food presentation is simple and very humble. The smell, taste, and texture were phenomenal. The prices were low and very affordable. We ordered and tasted a lot. We didn't eat that much. The leftovers takeout was gigantic. Air conditioning was out, and we were sweating before we ordered! Service was decent from our main waitress, but everyone else seemed miserable. The food was the same as any fried food place, even the shell gas station fish tastes exactly the same. The fried pickles however are the only thing keeping this from a one star. We will never go back. 90$ for below average fried food is not worth it for my wife, two kids under 4, and myself. I wish the food had as much heart in it as the building and setting does. Context: Sunday afternoon, seemingly right after church let everyone out :) Larger parking lot than I would imagine for this sized restaurant, with a massive and deep pothole to be avoided near the sidewalk entrance. Wait was 15mins, which was great because the outside was filling up with newly arrived patrons as we were seated. Here is what was ordered and what how it tasted: Catfish Sandwich - Large portion and arrived hot and tasty 10/10! Cajun Catfish: 7/10 A little overdone Catfish/Shrimp/Chicken Strip Combo: 7/10. Tasted like they fried all 3 items in the same oil :/ You have to pay extra of you want a "loaded" (non-plain) baked potato, which is a bit petty. They give you a small bowl of coleslaw and pinto beans with your meal. Both were on the plain side. Food was overall 7/10, not bad at all. Let's review basic customer service: 1. Our server did an excellent job of getting our orders and repeating them back to ensure accuracy. BRAVO! 2. Same server accidentally dropped a few full water and tea glasses while attempting to bring a large party's drink orders out (It happens). This happened in between two tables and liquid covered a good 8 x 8 patch of the floor. Instead of apologizing (no "sorry" we splashed water all over you and your shoes, splashed my daughter in the face too) and getting someone to clean up the liquids (or cleaning it up herself), the liquid was there on the floor under two tables feet and in the walkway for around 15-20 mins. From there another person decided to get a piece of equipment to suck up the mess, which required a few patrons to stand up. My issue is that the water was on the walking and seating area so long that the mostly senior citizens could have easily slipped and fell, giving them life changing injuries, costing the establishment a major lawsuit. 3. After our food was delivered by a runner, but NOBODY came around to refill drinks after we got our food. Why does this matter folks? All of the food served here is fried and full of sodium, which means patrons are always going to be thirsty, and refills are an EASY way to take care of them. It's BASIC! Our server came back around and asked if we were ready for the check, which I replied "Let's all get some refills first please" in a jovial manner trying to keep the energy light and playful. Our server came by, dropped the check on the table, then hustled over to her other two tables, completely forgot about our empty drinks again. After 10-15 mins and her asking another table about refills, I waved over what I perceived to be a manager. Instead of being a tattletale, I explained that our server seemed to be busy but she likely forgot our request. The manager took care of my drink but all of the sudden the server appears from nowhere and refills the waters at the table, purely by coincidence I am sure ;) My wife stood at the counter for 10 mins to pay the check and texted me that she was still waiting which was odd, because nobody else was standing there but her. The person working the counter apparently did not look up or acknowledge my wife :( The worker apologized for the ignore saying that she thought my wife was waiting to be seated, yet my wife was holding a receipt. Please acknowledge your customers.. especially when they want to PAY you..ITS BASIC! Lastly another odd occurrence I've never experienced: My wife used my Veterans ID card for a military discount.. BUT it was good for 10% off ONLY the veterans meal, which for $16 on a $50 tab equaled... $1.60 off, a major "lolz". Again I've never experienced this before so I am calling it out as odd. But I did not enlist 30 years ago for any perceived discounts, but instead to go destroy things and travel around the world. Coming from folks who have worked in legit restaurants for over a decade that requires hustle, this place needs to get some efficiency training to get them on track. Unbussed tables were present for many minutes as servers walked past to enter the kitchen empty handed over and over, while the hostess has a line for 30 mins of hungry patrons that cannot yet be seated. Those same empty hands of the servers could have grabbed the empty dishes and taken them to the dishwasher, then could be wiped down on the trip out. More tables turned over = More patrons = More Money! It's BASIC. All in all because of the off-beaten path location and the work-in-progress-customer service, it would be hard to return with better expectations. But the venue was pretty and the food was pretty good overall. read more
