While this establishment has modest beginnings as a food truck, it far exceeds most of the sit down restaurants in ingredient quality and taste in the Howard County area. The price is not cheap relative to what you expect around these parts but they also don't cheap out on portion or ingredients. So to foodies this will be a reasonable place to have breakfast. No sit down area is the only draw back I can find. The staff is polite and while it took a few minutes to make my breakfast, it was well worth it. read more

OMG! How have I lived in Laurel for 4 years and never noticed this place?! T&J is a little storefront, think Rita's Ice, where you order and pickup your food. If you're wondering, yes they serve waffles but much more! Between breakfast and lunch you'll find something to satisfy your hunger. You can order online but I ordered at the window. A couple of years ago I went to the T and J Waffles food truck and was so disappointed in my meal. The lines were always so long that I had decided I would give them a try. The waffles were dry and I vowed to never go back to them. Fast forward to now, on my way to work I drove past their shop. I thought to myself, someone gave these folks a shop? I don't know why but I said I would give them another try. I'm so glad I did because I loved it. I got the creme brûlée waffles with peaches, chicken and waffles with blueberries and chocolate drizzled on the top, and I also got the bacon, egg and cheese waffle sandwich. How can I really put it... Well on a fine Friday morning, march 8th on the way to work I wanted something different and t&j waffles was recommended. I order the classic breakfast as well as my friend which i think he is no longer my friend after this experience FYI the car is silent as we speak. The service was great but the food is a whole different story. I don't know if the chef was retired or some kid in the back but somebody was experimenting on our food this morning. First time coming here , the food was AWFUL. The egg garbage , bacon stale and chewy , hash brown---- wait who put scallions in hash browns... the sausage my mom used to cook these sausage out of a box just be the taste and I got traumatized by that and having to listen to more trauma to my good friend. My tastebuds are still recovering from the amount of flavor that I experienced this morning at this restaurant. I quickly ordered a waffle with Creme Brûlée and added Cookie Butter Speculoos and Strawberries, Bananas and Nutella. I know that's a lot of stuff so let me back track. I asked the cashier what was her favorite after staying firmly committed to the Creme Brûlée topping. She stated both are great but she loves the Cookie Butter Speculoos. I ordered a classic breakfast which came with eggs, bacon, sausage, two waffles, and hash browns which is definitely a deal in this recession! My family member found this breakfast filling and tasty. While I waited for my waffle I needed something to quench my excitement. The Birthday Cake macaroon quenched my foodie heart attack and quelled my restlessness to eat the waffle. The flavor of the Macaroon was delicious and I appreciated the fact that they sell macaroons and have an abundance of flavors. I would definitely buy 6 next time. Now let's talk about the waffle. No syrup was needed or butter. The waffle was fluffy and flavorful. Hands down this waffle is the best waffle in the DMV! I had this waffle with no beverage by the way (charge my head not my heart). One waffle alone was filling, and worth the mile walk I pushed myself to take after devouring this waffle on site in my car. The Creme Brûlée and the Speculoos was awesome. Firstly, I want to say that I love T&J Waffles. The hubs and I would occasionally visit the food truck site in Clarksville, in the parking lot of Kendall's hardware store. When I found out that the Laurel store front was open for business, it was a quick no brainer in going there for breakfast. This a pros and cons kind of review, which is easier for me in describing my experience at T&J. Cons: wish your place was a tad bigger, for stools & tables outside, freshly made tea was bitter and undrinkable, savory waffle was slightly burnt and steak was more of a steak-um (not what I was anticipating). Pros: portion sizes are huge, waffle flavor is not overly sweet, perfect in balance of flavors, tender, liege waffle - lovely carnalized, fresh, glazed sliced peaches and love your crème brulee. The hubs got your fried chicken waffle sandwich, which is like having breakfast and lunch in several mouthfuls - always filling and delicious. read more

I used to be one of T&J's biggest fans. Like "my kids got out of school at noon on Wednesdays and we used to go on a hunt for where the food truck was parked that day" biggest fans. Since I've been watching my carbs, I hadn't indulged in T&Js for a while. Today, however, I thought I'd treat myself to a post birthday meal at one of my favorite trucks. When I got it the first thing I asked was "you changed the brisket?!" It really wasn't a question. I knew they had changed it. I honestly don't know how long it has been changed though. The young lady working the truck swore that their customers LOVE THE NEW BRISKET. Me...ummm there's absolutely no way this new recipe even comes close to what it was. I am soooo disappointed!! Happy Birthday to me (insert side eye). Btw, it is nowhere near the same amount of brisket that we used to get and it also seems to be cut a little thinner I think. I am, however, forcing myself to eat it because...yea $13!!!! Oh, and I don't remember the syrup tasting this weird either. It's all just wrong. French macaroons decorate the counter tops and beautifully displayed turnovers, waffles and waffle bites in the display cabinet. The menu neatly displayed. I could never go to another IHOP or any other breakfast place instead of T&J. The waffles are absolutely TO DIE FOR! I had a sausage, egg & cheese sandwich with the sweet waffle and it was an EXPERIENCE. She had the turkey sausage, egg & cheese with non sweet waffle and it was also amazing. Just decadent. The staff was friendly and attentive...everything was just perfect. Great menu, too! We're looking forward to trying out more stuff in the future. I was overcome with acute nostalgia for when I was in Belgium. The waffles there were, of course, AMAZING. I longed to be able to have flakey, buttery waffles again. Though this is no Belgium, it sure is close to it. The waffles here are a mix of a croissant floury waffle, and it's to DIE FOR. I usually just get the regular liege waffles, but their sandwiches are also amazing! I tried the crispy chicken & waffles and there was so much bacon! The sauce was also divine! Went to this place cause I was having cravings for waffles. We got the sausage, egg and cheese waffle sandwich and the creme brulee and strawberry waffle. Both were very tasty and well presented. The sweet one had a flan on top of it with the bruleed top- it was not how I expected it to come out. The savory one was COVERED in toasted cheese so it was hard for me to decipher if the egg was that pre-made puck of egg or not but the texture was a little on the chewier side so I suspect so. The waffles were a little softer than I would have liked by the time I got home but overall, good experience, I would definitely go back again.
