I don't really care for this location. It could be because that it's in town and everyone probably gets all the good stuff before I have a chance to look but if not then their selection is very poor and I feel like it could have been bigger.. I mean Ross is bigger and this is the town location. I haven't really seen any workers on the floor assisting.. You can find them all at the registers and the dressing rooms but that's it. *3.5 Ok perhaps it is my fault for letting people really hype this up. But I waked in and it looked kind of like.......Ross. Granted, one with more expensive items, but I just wasn't expecting that? Nor was I expecting to see some beautiful maxi dresses in the "designer" section.... Turned over the price tag and almost fainted. "$500 regular price....TJ Maxx price $370"....sorry....wouldn't you just rather get the $500 dress from that designers actual store instead of still paying a hefty amount for something that is just thrown on the racks same as the $9.99 stuff? With everyone touching it and possibly staining/damaging it? Oh and then it gets crumpled up and thrown into a tan plastic bag along with the other things you brought which could again snag or damage it when you pay? Personally I wouldn't want that. But anyway, that's just my opinion. Overall it's alright. Nicer stuff/brands than Target but also more pricey. And you still have to be prepared to comb through the racks and hunt for the good stuff. All the small sizes of course on some stuff aren't even available. You just need to get lucky. I got two new bedding sets (DNKY $39.99 and a superrrrr nice feeling mauve set $29.00), a short sleeved plain top (good material though--$20) and a pair of super cute yellow Nike shorts ($12). I haven't heard much about a TJ MAxx before besides it being just like a Ross and the commercials they show on TV. (and why do they do that when we don't even have that store or restaurant?) Anyways I went after the hyped died down and i could look around with out getting elbows thrown in my face. Don't you love how they place all the high end designer items right in front of the store. Umm hi, I cant afford that even when you put a discounted price on them!! I found some really nice handbags that caught my eye (Cole Haan and Ralph Lauren). I didn't buy any maybe on my next visit. I did buy a Calvin Klein blouse for $19.99. Its a could deal but i prefer to go Macy's and get my additional 10-30% off. Gotta love a deal!! Shoes weren't really screaming at me. But if you are lucky you can find Essie nail polish for $4! But the color selection is bleh. I do LOVE their dressing rooms. I know some people think it looks deceiving, and it does, I was shocked that it is only one floor! Oh but what a floor! I saw Missoni (and I am a sucker for anything with chevron patterns), Alice & Olivia, DVF oh my! I am a clothes horse so I am in discount heaven here. The brands are better than Nordstrom, but you really have to look and know your stuff. I love to come here on my lunch hour and see whats new. Oh one star down for shoe dept. Sometimes I park at Ward Shopping Center for lunch, coffee, dinner whatsoever. Then I would walk across the street to shop and look around. read more

This store is in a terrible location. Absolutely terrible. I'm still lamenting the loss of the Whole Foods in the Kakaako area, so perhaps my perception is a bit jaded, but I really wish they hadn't wasted such prime space on another discount crap superstore. We already have more Ross on the island than we do high schools, and TJ Maxx doesn't really provide much more than even the smallest Ross. The space is tiny, the selection is not that great, and the massive amount of advertising leading up to the grand opening served only to overhype the promise of another mainland chain. read more

MEHHH...I have a nordstrom card, and can find the same kind of stuff at nordstrom rack and get points at the same time!! So why would I go to TJ maxx? Honestly, idk. I think it's weird that they put it right across the street from the rack...I did find a pretty BCBG dress at TJ maxx that was sold out at Nordstroms.....So maybe I come here when I can't find something in particular at Nordstrom. I would compare TJ maxx atmosphere to a little more high-end Ross. You can find some good stuff, but you really have to search. read more

When TJ Maxx was first on Oahu, located at Stadium Mall, we could find designer men's dress shirts, wonderful picture frames, china, jeans, and bedding, etc., all of top quality at low prices. So I was happy to hear they were returning. However, the goods they now carry aren't good - about the same quality as Ross Dress for Less, but more expensive. Sigh! read more

This TJ Maxx is as good as any other TJ Maxx. I have noticed that they scaled back a lot on men's clothing.

TJ Maxx is pretty comparable to Ross's. However, they have pretty good quality stuff. The prices are obviously higher, but still not bad for what you get. They have a wide variety of stuff, including stuff for the home, furniture, lots of clothing, shoes, and bags. Their men's section is TEENY TINY though. So I wouldn't come here if I were a guy looking to be a Maxxanista. Hahaha... I did manage to find very cute dishes and cups for the home for very cheap! Another plus is that they have a LOT of registers to check out at so the throngs of people that come in are in and out very quickly. For some reason though, I did think that TJ Maxx would be bigger. It's only a one level (and still small) store. I guess I expected more in terms of the volume of stuff that they'd have too. This place is alright. read more

A step above ross and a little below Nordstrom rack lies TJ max. Definitely not as junky as some of the ross stores could be....but still lacks that extra ooomph that the norstrom brand usually oozes. Pluses: - Designer area with brands like YSL, Chloe, FENDI that are truly marked down - Clean aisles, minimal clutter - Friendly sales people - Not as "junky" as ross - Cute assortment of tops Cons (not really cons but it's weakness) - Dress and shoe selection better at Nordstrom Rack - Beauty department not as extensive as NR It's definitely on my go to places. Okay so worst time ever to go is when they first open! Mind you i knew it was going to be crazy and hectic but i still went.!!!! IM A MAXINISTA as my dad had said because i went to TJ MAXX. I think its a alright store, the brands that they carry are high end and you pay for what you get which is good quality. however some things you can find at ross. The parking lot was intresting because it was new and parking was hell but thank god that we had a front parking right in front the entrance which is located on the 3rd floor. DO NOT ATempt to gowithin the first week of opening thats the advice i would give im sure when i go there another i will give a better rating. They were very fast in there service which was great. Tried to return a suitcase purchased in under 30 days, but couldn't find the receipt. Customer service had ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in looking up the transaction with the credit card & offered only a store credit. NOT HAPPY with such lack of customer service. Located in Honolulu between the Ward Center and Ala Moana shopping mall. TJ Maxx is on the third floor of its building. Good selection of various clothing and accessories. Very comparable to that of an "upscale Ross". I came here to buy exercise clothes. Good deals. Saved a lot of $$$ too. Their luggage dept is good and they even have a department for pets. 4 Stars for a descent selection for a descent price in name brand clothing and good customer service. Cons: If your proceeding above level one, drive cautiously to avoiding scratching the sides of your vehicle. The ramps are very narrow. read more

Getting to TJ Maxx is where I have gotten into the biggest elevator I have ever been on. That building's elevator is huge! Anyway, I like TJ Maxx because the store looks neat and clean. The racks are neat and the place isn't crowded so you can slowly browse the racks. They have a big section for home and kitchenwear. I like their pet section as well. There is a huge selection of women clothes. There isn't a lot of shoes on display. The bags are nicely stocked. They also have luggages there. I'm not always happy when I leave this place because I often come out empty handed. It's either the items are not my style, too expensive or doesn't have my size anymore. read more

Hmmm the commercials made me think "omg this store is going to be awesome" Well I went on the second day and it was OK, I thought it was going to be the entire building but it was only on the 3rd floor. I browsed the whole store in less than hour despite the crowds and could of left empty handed but I didn't want to since it took me forever to pack up my 2 year old and mom and drive from Aiea to Ward. We left the store with less than $50 worth items and slightly bummed since we were expecting better. One thing I did like about the store was the housewares & kid's toys section. When it's back to its normal stock, after this big grand opening madness, I might check out this store again if I'm in the area. For now though, I'll stick to Nordstrom Rack! read more

Entered searching for a suitcase and left with an Armani watch... The reason? Perfect service with a smile at the watch counter. I was in no need on another watch but after being slightly disappointed with low inventory of suitcases I wandered a few steps over to the watch counter. The mens section is located so perfectly that there is no way a guy could walk from suitcases to the exit without a slight glance at all the offerings. A nice Armani watch with light blue and gold accents on the face caught my eye and only a few moments later the lady at the counter asked if I'd like to see something. She was extremely attentive and with a smile pulled out the watch. I tried it on while chit-chatting with the young woman and well... the watch was nice but if it was anyone else I would have simply set it back down. There is something special about great service that reaches out to consumers hearts. Anyways I bought the watch and continued to look at a few others all the while talking to this person. She showed me two other watches and hours later i still remember her and the service... I will be back to pick up the 2nd watch before my Hawaii vacation ends. :) read more

Wow, wish my local TJ Maxx was this big, clean and loaded with great merchandise! We needed another suitcase to bring back our goodies so we decided to stop by here. They have a TON of great suitcases. Decided to look at the backpacks for the kiddos since school is starting soon on the mainland. My picky son found his backpack & lunch box here. One less thing to shop when I return home! We returned to the hotel and discovered the handle to the suitcase didn't retract smoothly. Turns out there was a dent in the handle. TJ Maxx gladly accepted our return and allowed us to exchange for a new one even with the tags off. Great customer service. Again, i would be super broke if this TJ Maxx was near me... read more

I went in to just look around. I ended up buying a ipad screen protector. I got home, put the screen protector on and it was hurting my eyes. My husband told me to take it off and check if you can return it. Sure enough I can!! I called and the woman who had answered the phone was polite and made sure I had everything so that I could return the product. The only negative I have is that they do not have a good men's selection nor a plus size selection. I will return though. Their home and kitchen selection is a great find!!! read more

I really like this locations. My problem is, why do the employees talk loud between one another or sometimes yell. This starts from the supervisors while they're on the floor stocking shelves or discussing the plans to stage items. They also discuss their schedules and reasons why they can't work certain days. This is very unprofessional. I've been to craft fairs that practice better professional tact. Hope this improves. read more

i have had multiple racial profiling experiences and ones that i have reported and have had to request to be properly rectified because when one is african american, all that is given is an empty insincere apology. oh as ive seen in my years of working in customer service, the red carpet is rolled out to my caucasian peers. but when black n profiled u get excuses, lack of concern, horrible customer service. n yet again here we go with tjmaxx. so i come in to check to see if they have what i need in stock, ( im on the phone with) i get to the isle to browse and of course i can clearly see miss destiny profiling not being discreet at all, i get so tired of racist bs smh to be black. i share with my pal, here we go with the racial profiling n destiny chimes to sarcastically and disingenuously say can i help you find something. which she should have asked instead of profiling me. she proceeds to engage with personal feelings which is more than disrespectful and unprofessional and then she shares she heard what i said, in regards to me talking to my pal while i was browsing. which solidified that thats whay she unprofessionally engaged. she tool offense to me being aware that she was profiling me and i let that be known to my pal who i was on the phone with. she continues to be disrespectful and dismisses me with her hand smh. that entitlement i know had i been caucasian she wouldnt have had the audacity. so i get the attention of a manager miss mimi, who tried to come off as she cared but clearly she didnt because she never got back to me as i requested. this happened april 21st around 8:30 or 9pm. horrible customer service and management. and either they are choosing to disregard the matter or have been told to be district. which i hope to not be the case but will be brought to the light if so and i will move accordingly. i have suggested in the past to management and district manager that they should implement racial profiling training asap they always claim to take matters seriously and do some training but clearly if those any kind of training has actually happened its bull n not the proper training needed. racial profiling n being racist isnt aloha. walk what you talk. hatred is of the devil periodt evil people hate. examine ya heart does tjmaxx want to represent racism??? let us african american customers know so we stop supporting you read more

I'm pretty sure that everyone knows what kind of store TJ Maxx is and if you're a bargain hunter like I am then this is a store that you'd probably shop at or check out. This store is located in the Ward area in the newer space across from the Ward Centre. There's a ground floor entrance, but you have to walk up the stairs. The store is located on the 3rd floor so try and find parking on the 3rd level in the parking structure. Just like any bargain store, you really need to search to find that item where you're like "OMG this is only $5?!?! Whaaaaat?" but I don't mind to browse. I like going here for clothes, shoes, and some household items. Their inventory always changes so I usually always find something new when I stop in. This store isn't as busy as the other locations so you don't have to squeeze in through the racks or wait for someone to move to go down the line. I always see employees floating around the store so if you need some assistance they're easy to find. The cashiers are always nice and friendly and check out time is pretty fast. I can't stand when cashiers take their sweet time so that's a plus. read more

It amazes me how a mainland chain's cash registers are not sophisticated enough to select items to receive a gift receipt! Instead, they need to ring up items individually to receive a gift receipt. They can ring all items together but every gift receipt will show other items the recipient isn't receiving. Painful transaction! read more

Seriously, I've shopped TJMaxx all over the USA, (and TKMaxx in London) and this is the best. Clean, inviting, bright. This sounds bad, but I felt like I was in a real store. There was plenty of selection throughout the store. It took some time to decide on which salt shakers to get as a gift. I found so many options on stylish bathing suits. Great place for bargains! If I don't find anything at Nordstrom rack, I go here Today I found a Anastasia Beverly Hills cream contour kit for $19.99. What a deal! You seriously have to take your time walking around in this store because you will never know what you will find. Just when I was about to leave, I ended up finding 5 cute big coffee mugs for my friends for Christmas. The only problem was when I was paying I asked for superset gift receipt but the lady said they couldn't do it :( So she ended up ringing up each one separate so I could get the separate gift receipt. I come here to kill time. Does that sound horrible? It sounds bad to me, but it's true. This place always overwhelms. There are so many things here that I just can't concentrate. Needless to say I am a regular here because among the many items offered here, I always buy stuff from the pet section. Compared to stores that are specifically only for pets and pet accessories, TJ Maxx has their prices beat! This is my "getaway mini vacay" I would literally spend hours here just to feel better that I could actually imagine I could afford nice things living here. As you know living in the islands your stuff is either gonna be covered in dust or you should just buy stuff from Craigslist from all those nomads moving out of the island. Btw I'm one of those nomads it's probably because I'm really an Aries. Anyways, I bought most of my cat stuff here because 1) it's very affordable 2) it's good quality 3) Walmart won't beat the prices, never mind that the products itself are aesthetically chic! This place can be equivalent to Ross or even Target (with the exception of brand names product). There is plenty of parking very wide space and it's near Ward warehouse in case you stay too long until dinner. Anyway you can get anything from shoes to kitchen items and even furniture! Of course just like Ross if you decide to NOT buy an item now it would probably be gone tomorrow or worse the minute you put it down! They have a very good refund system, keep your receipts, return in the same condition you bought it & customer service will take care of you! That's only assuming you'll return your stuff because you'll love it too much (guilty)! I don't shop here for shoes or purses although there are plenty very very nice ones (brand names too), hope you get to enjoy the home items shopping like I do! read more

I love love love TJ Maxx! Especially for home-y things. Clothes selection isn't the best unless you're looking for workout attire, I get everything here including sports bras and yoga mats. As for the home section they have the cutest furniture and decor pieces and a lot of practical kitchen items like pans and baking tools. I don't even go to Ross anymore, the quality here is so much better and prices are always great! I was looking for a nice throw blanket for my couch for the longest time and finally found a really nice one for $20! Great place to find cute affordable gifts too. read more

Was really looking forward to checking out the return of TJ Maxx in Hawaii. With such a large building in the busy Kaka'ako area, I was dissapointed to find that the store only took up one small floor on the third level. Was more dissapointed when I realized that the large passenger elevators were larger than the men's department. Had to walk out empty handed when I walked into a shoe department with absolutely no men's shoes! I should have known better when I crossed paths with a lost man going up and down the escalator asking me if I knew how to get to the other floors of TJ Maxx where the men's department was. read more
