I was literally switching from ATT , had already spoken with customer service (2 different times online) and merely had to drop by the store to present my billing statement phone payoff, & swap out the sim card. From the moment I walked in the door, the young man acted like I was an imposition. Repeatedly contradicted what I was previously told by 2 different customer service agents and suggested I go do it online. I left & went right back to the ATT store & stopped the switch. T-Mobile Southaven MS. Really conflicted on this one. They try hard but make assumptions based on previous customers that may or may not be applicable in each case. Price for the 55+ is the best we have found. Spent a little over an hour switching to T-Mobile at the store. Clerk never asked for our previous carrier's account or PIN numbers. We were told it would take awhile to port numbers over to T-Mobile. She put our old SIM card back in our phone and said when we lose service we could put the T-Mobile SIM in and would be ready to go. After about 8 hours I called our previous carrier and they said the port request had not been processed because incorrect information was not provided. I went back to the T-Mobile store to get it straightened out. This time a new clerk asked for the PIN number and one phone number was ported. I asked the clerk repeatedly if this would take care of the second phone. The clerk assured me my account number and pin would also take care of the second number. Later in the evening my second number had still not ported. I called the T-Mobile store and the clerk said I would need to call 611 and tell them my second numbers pin which she thought I did not need. After 12 hours of fooling with them my second number ported sometime in the am. My assessment is the T_Mobile staff had not run into this situation previously and made the assumption based on prior experience that they knew how to process my old carriers port process. Hopefully, T-Mobile will use my frustration as a learning opportunity and do better next time. The process for porting at T-Mobile is vague and misunderstood by the staff and poorly communicated to new customers. Not a good way to start off a new relationship. read more
