Visited today between 10:40-11:00 AM, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The two employees working at that time, Holly and her colleague, were rude, arrogant, and acted as if answering questions was a burden. They repeatedly cut me off and never let me finish explaining what I needed. Instead of trying to help, they came across like bullies, talking over me and making it clear they didn't care. The treatment was bad enough that I've decided to switch to Verizon. I never expected to walk out feeling bullied at a phone store, but this location made that impression loud and clear. I just called T-Mobile sales to inquire about switching from MetroPCS to T-Mobile based on a promotion I received via text. The sales guy couldn't have been a bigger jerk. He was impatient and arrogant, and when I asked him about the cost of a plan for three lines in the promotion, he quoted me a higher number than the promotion. When I asked about the discrepancy, he said he had no idea and his tone told me he wasn't concerned with false advertising. Complete unprofessional jerk. Don't even bother coming here. I've been a T-Mobile customer for over 10 years with the same exact plan. Today my data suddenly stopped working so I decided to go to the nearest T-Mobile store for assistance. I went to the store on Madison Ave and 42nd street ( 8/14/2023 around 3 pm) and I told the female representative my data isn't working. No verbal communication from her at all, she took my phone turned airplane mode off and on and returned my phone to me. I checked to make sure my data was working, but it still wasn't working. Her response was, "WELL it was just working". I then showed her photos were not loading. She then asked for my ID and scanned it into the system, glanced at my account and told me my plan does not come with data and I have to buy data. I was so confused I told her I had the same plan for years therefore there has to be a mistake. She then insisted I have no data and have to pay for it to be added to my plan and literally sucked her teeth and rolled her eyes at me. I was so shocked of her demeanor and attitude towards me when I was being polite and trying to resolve this issues. I asked if someone else can assist and she called over a guy and he's also with an attitude is telling me, "LIKE she said you have no data plan". I just left and called 611 and they were able to resolve the issue. I have a data plan and the rep simply adjust issue with the system. What is the point of having a T-Mobile store when these representatives have no proper customer service skills nor patient to assist customers. I didn't get the female's name but she has a nose piercing and her hair was up in a bun. You can not suck your teeth and roll your eyes if someone is having issues with the T-mobile services, but I am glad the 611 rep was nice and able to help me resolve the issue. read more

307 Madison Avenue, NY DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE! This was likely the most unpleasant experience I have ever had with a carrier and I am seriously contemplating leaving T-Mobile as my service provider. I am so furious and frustrated by my experience with the members of this Madison Avenue store. I came in expecting to upgrade my phone from an Iphone 6 to an Iphone X, a seemingly basic and simple task, no? Noon: Kareem was the first representative to assist me. He advised that I should transfer over my information via wire and that I could come back to retrieve the phone. Kareem indicated that he would call me back once the transfer of my apps and photos were complete. This did not happen. I had to call the store twice. I called the store two times to verify that my phone was being worked on. After I called a second time, he said to come back to the store to retrieve the phone. The transfer was complete, he said. Part Deux: When I returned to the store, Kareem was surrounded by his two fellow coworkers, Rafael and Lady. When I arrived, they were already laughing in a mocking manner. "I pulled the wire out and nothing transferred over," stated Kareem. "I don't know what happened." Okay, mistakes happen, but the laughing is what pushed me over the edge. As an individual who is usually mild-mannered and civil, I did what I could to hold it together, but they did not offer any real help besides laughing mischievously like mean girls. *Pause to breathe and relax from the anger* - Honestly, this was the most poor display of customer service and whether you are laughing at the situation or at the person, learn how to conceal it so that you at least appear to be a better customer service professional. RUDE. Rafael indicated he would rectify the situation after his laugh session with Lady. Lady - a sorry excuse for that name because she acts nothing like one. In a joking manner, Rafael had indicated that Kareem had done a poor job. Rafael told me that Kareem should not have used a wire to transfer over my information and that he should have brought it over using icloud. He jokingly said that I should leave a bad review with customer service for Kareem because he did such a poor job. "I got you!" is what he stated. "Kareem didn't do this correctly. I can do this the right way and it will be done in 30 minutes, max." I left the store a second time. He probably should have said "I don't got you." Hours passed, I called to check on my phone. Rafael, did not "get me." That is when I called T-mobile customer service. The agent reached out to Ruben, the store manager. The T-mobile customer service rep, Rod, told me Ruben was waiting for me at the store. I had to leave work THREE times for this. Part Trois: Rafael told me that Ruben could not do anything for me when I arrived, which is why I specifically insisted on seeing the store manager. Ruben was civil and fair. Contrary to that, Rafael was defensive and went so far as to say "I was the one helping. I stepped in and I helped." Listen, Rafael, there is something called apologizing for seizing half of my work day. How about apologizing for laughing at my situation and having to spend an entire afternoon at this store to fix my phone while I managed work meetings? Rafael then indicated that T-mobile does not transfer information usually. The Company does this as a courtesy. That was not made aware to me and I would have purchased my phone from Apple, where customer service is the primary concern! This is also new to me because I have switched phones several times with other providers and it has not been an issue. To add salt to the wound, my friend accompanied me the third time for moral support. She witnessed Rafael with the door open ajar and my friend could see Rafael pointing at us and complaining in the back to coworkers and denying any wrongdoing. All of them denied laughing at the customer because you know what, they didn't think the customer would complain - and she did. T-mobile, you are a service provider and a Company that prides itself in customer service and sorry, but T-mobile, you have failed. I would never hire such employees to run my store. The basic professionalism was incredibly lacking and although Ruben indicated that he would take care of the situation, a slap on the wrist will not suffice because they are alarmingly obnoxious for people who are supposed to help. Rafael indicated that they weren't laughing so I had to double check to make sure I could identify what I saw. Laugh: To make spontaneous sounds and movements of the face and body that are the instinctive expressions of lively amusement. Hey Rafael, you and Lady sure looked amused. Why don't I take your phone for oh, maybe 6 hours and laugh at you (with Lady) when there is an issue, and then tell you that you are overreacting. THREE CALLS + THREE VISITS TO THE STORE = NOTHING WAS TRANSFERRED OVER. read more

This store was rude and very unhelpful when I tried to trade in my device. Because the commission was going to a different store, they refused to help me. Instead they claimed that I was 1 day too late to trade in my phone and suggested there's nothing they can do. Fortunately I went to a different store and they were helpful. I had no problems. This review is more for the service than the store. However, let me mention that this store is just OK. Nothing glam. The salesperson I worked with was good, and like me, he focused on the appearance of the phones moreso than their gadgetary features. He did lead me to get the Samsung Trace, which is very cute and pretty teeny. People still compliment me on it. I must admit, it was the luscious Catherine Zeta-Jones who first stole my heart away from Sprint. Her job wasn't all that hard to do, given Sprint's crappy phones, the fact that they blamed me when my phone just all of a sudden conked out on me, and it dropped all kinds of calls in all kinds of places. The big thing was that whenever a call with my dad was dropped, the man seriously freaked the fuck out. So I had to switch to a service that dropped less calls, and my friends suggested T-Mobile. T-Mobile and I just had our second anniversary, and the love is still very much there. I've had a very negligible amount of dropped calls, NO dropped calls at all with my dad, for which he is very happy (as am I), and a signal almost everywhere, except for my office. I haven't yet mastered the whole SIM card and use-your-phone-in-another-country deals, but someday. I feel like I'm really get my money's worth on minutes, MyFaves, and my text-bundle thingy. I'm sticking with T-Mobile. Next up will be a Blackberry Curve! read more

The sales person wasn't really knowledgeable about tmobile and caused me to have a really painful experience! His jokes were ra.cial and inappropriate. He also said he transferred my data but when I got home noting was transferred. I lost years of pictures and lost all my contacts because he didn't know how to transfer my stuff. Apparently T-Mobile doesn't think stores outside the city are necessary, so I had to stop by a store on my way home. This one is the most convenient in terms of proximity to GC. Generally, I avoid anything near major landmarks when I want customer service, but I didn't really have much of a choice. I went with about 30 minutes before I needed to catch my train. The place is fairly small and was pretty busy when I stopped by, but someone was available to help me as soon as I walked in. I'm a detail-oriented shopper. I'd done some research and I wanted to test out a few specific devices before making a decision on a new phone. Justin, the associate that was helping me, was incredibly helpful. He showed me where the devices I wanted were, showed me the features I was interested in testing on each device, and shared his knowledge on device performance. Overall, he wasn't going to sway my opinion too much, but all of his comments validated what I'd found in my research. He provided great service, so much so, that I don't usually let anyone upsell me on anything, but I ended up walking out with a few more accessories than I would have ever chosen on my own. Now, once I made a decision, I had exactly 10 minutes to complete the transaction. It was close, but Justin set everything up so I could get out the door as soon as possible. I probably shouldn't have gone with the expectation of being in and out in 30 minutes, but Justin managed to make it all work. I'm really happy with how everything went. Unfortunately, it's not looking good for my T-Mobile service, but my shopping experience certainly was good. read more

I give this place 5 stars one for each letter in the name of the saleswoman who helped me, I-N-S-I-A. She truly stepped up to the plate and walked me through the features of my new phone (and I even got a free NBA t-shirt). The store was very crowded and it's not a very big space to begin with. So as the flood of people flocked through the store trying out different phones, she patiently assisted me and answered my questions. She was knowledgeable, personable, and a few people came in to specifically see her about their phones. She knew their names right off the bat too, impressive. She was able to troubleshoot problems (one guy had a flight to catch and she had his phone working in no time), answer questions about phones, and still manage in the midst of multitasking to make me feel like a valued customer. Now that's what customer service is all about. Despite this never-ending saga of anti-spring weather in NYC, shopping for a new phone (I got the BB Bold 9780) with stellar customer service at this location was one of the highlights of my day! read more

On a recent random evening of getting frustrated with my android phone I started researching to return the Apple mothership. I called the iphone guru. Her phone is surgically attached to the end of her arm. Literally, she's missing a hand on that side. It's incredible, the thing is never more than five inches from her nose, and she always manages to keep it charged! She recommended a few options, but said Amazon buying wouldn't work. I'd need to go into the sketchy land of craigslist. She called a few, and found some russians in coney island. I didn't like the sound of that. Where's Marine Park again? Corona what? I called a few, texted a few, and back and forth. Then I found one owned by a guy out in Flushing. I convinced him to meet in LIC, and the price of the phone was right. When we got to the part about cutting my sim card, I started to feel squeemish. You have to do what?!?! to the sim card? Well older phones use regular sims, but new phones like the iphone use a microsim. So if you wanna use your t-mobile phone... ok, calls to t-mobile, back and forth, finally it sounds like it will work. So I go out to meet up at Sweetleaf coffee in Queens. I arrive early and talk on and on with the barristas about the new shops opening, and tell them with delight that I've already visited their new shop in 11211. Really they reply? You are a manhattanite? No I'm multi-boro I tell them. Finally the guy from Flushing arrives, and he sits down. I try the phone, I see the T-mobile logo, he explains how the sim card just pops in etc. Since I haven't *CUT* my card yet, I can't try it. So I hand over the cash, confident I will be able to properly cut the card at a t-mobile store. We part ways and I make a beeline to the 7 train with drops me at times Square. A quick 1 block walk and I'm at the t-mobile store. The helpful attendant cuts my card, and we try it in the iphone. Searching... searching. She explains to me about unlocks versus hacks, I call the guy on the phone to get advice. Back and forth we go but still no luck. Still searching... The lady explains that she can retrofit the larger sim so I can still use my old phone, and i head home. She was very helpful explaining, and all for free believe it or not. One of the best t-mobile experiences I've had. But still I'm trying to get my poor iphone to work! read more

Was unable to purchase a sim activation kit online because of error on their site (their server was not able to process any credit card payment because of some kind of bug): "Unfortunately, your information could not be verified and your order cannot be completed. Please visit a T-Mobile authorised dealer to obtain service or equipment." Therefore had to go to the store to ask for help. They told me that nothing can be done. Fantastic! Maybe the people are a little too familiar with customers, this is the reason why I give 4 stars. because with too much friendliness you kind of lose the professional touch. Although they are always ready to help and listen - this is really important. They listen clients and their needs and offer plans and solutions based on the clients needs. This has been a problem in other places too often that they do not listen what I went there to ask in the first place. Generally I would rather get a root canal than have to stand in a mobile phone shop surrounded by the negative energy of thousands of people having been told "i cant help you. that will cost $500" before me. Thats my negative vision of what mobile service providers shops are like. Purgatory basically. But my experience today was refreshingly painless. I went during lunch hour. I hate giving 1 star, but this is for the store experience on multiple occasions. However, T-Mobile as a company gets 5 stars. I came here at 8am when the Galaxy Note 4 launched. In fact, I showed up 30 mins early. I overhead a sales girl tell a customer knocking on the door that they have white and black in stock. When the store finally opens, they magically didn't get a shipment in. Not to mention, i called the night prior and told them to confirm and not make me show up and have it be an utter sh!+ show! They didn't fail to deliver and it was a HOT mess. What was the sales girl doing this whole time? Didn't she check the stock room before lying to customers? It's a complete sh!+ show for every phone launch they have. They must get turned on by lying to customers, having them show up, and forced to buy something else because what they really want is NOT in stock. The T-Mobile customer service at this store has been my worst experience in 6 months in NYC. I went to T-Mobile Store and was greeted by 'Manny' who asked me to wait for sometime. Later I was assigned another Customer Service Associate "Insiga" who started narrating the process and giving me details(without a smile **like a dead fish**). While I tried to share my side of story and what exactly I was looking for, the lady became unruly and aggressive. Even though I was trying my best to be polite, she still continued with her attitude. When I lost my cool, and told her that she is unnecessarily being aggressive and that's not the way you should be treating your customer, she asked me "What's your problem ??" I immediately felt I should throw the T-mobile Sim Card on their face and ask them to close it. Soon, I will do so! Went to this location because other reviewers had said it was the best T-Mobile store in the city. Now I haven't been to all the ones in NYC but I can say that this is by far the best, friendliest and most professional one I've set foot in, so much so that it prompted me to write my first Yelp review. I went in to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S2 as an upgrade two weeks ago and my salesperson, Manny, was extremely helpful and attentive. He took the time to answer all of my questions and to ensure that I was comfortable with my device. Even when the store got busy and he had to tend to other customers, he made it a point to let me know he hadn't forgotten about me and that I could still ask him questions if I needed to. I have to say I was very pleased with the level of customer service I received from both him and the other salesperson, Sherice, who was kind enough to put on my screen protector. Having this level of attentiveness and friendliness is very important to me, especially when I'm shelling out a substantial amount for a new smartphone. I would not hesitate to return to this store, and would more than likely go out of my way to come to this location because I am confident that I will be listened to and taken care of. read more

This store is great. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful, especially the retail associate I worked with, Sharisse A. She took her time to explain everything to me (I was coming over from Verizon, and a little nervous about making the switch over from a company I'd been with since my first cell phone ten years ago). She pulled out a calculator, went over different options, and made sure I was fully comfortable with my choices before proceeding. I didn't feel rushed or overwhelmed at all and walked out with a smile (and a brand new, gorgeous HTC One!). I'll definitely be coming back here if I need any help with my phone or plan! read more

I decided to come here after a quick Google search for "best T-Mobile store in NYC" turned up this one. I've never been a fan of getting a new cell phone, and after going in to a few others just to check out the basic deals, etc, I was pretty Denis Leary. I went in and was instantly asked what I needed and, after informing them that I wanted to port my cell phone, was told that it was going to be a minute. Nothing wrong with that since I can hardly fault a store for being busy. After waiting for five minutes I was introduced to my sales associated, William O. He made the entire process extremely quick and painless. He went out of his way to explain things to me and didn't get frustrated with my indecisiveness regarding a phone case. He let me know exactly what information I needed to port my phone and waited patiently while I slogged through Boost's terrible customer service (I mean their customer service number isn't even listed on THEIR OWN WEBSITE). After having no luck getting what I needed from Boost, William gave me his card and told me as soon as I get the information to give him a call and he'd take care of the port. In the mean time, I was able to use a temporary T-Mobile number to make and receive calls and play with my new phone. After finally figuring out the maze that is Boost's help line, I called William and took care of the port. The next morning my cell was working and I was ready to take on the world with my Samsung S5. Also, apparently they're really keen to have you insure you phone, they offered to drop the activation fee if I insured my phone for the first month and they even offered to cancel the insurance automatically. I have no idea the motivation behind this, but, hey, free insurance for a month. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this store and can't say enough good things about both the overall store and William O. PS, @Hans H. there's this crazy thing called the internet that if you go online and go to your T-Mobile account, you can change your plan extremely easily. I agree if I can gove 0 stars to this store I would. They tell you one thing and its another. Reps need to be careful what they tell their customers. I had a rep who i specifically told them my issue with the iphone and he said dont worry it is covered under your insurance it will be replaced. Later to wait 5 days to go pick it up and them to say oh no thats water damage you cant get a repalacement they will charge you the full price. Wth is warranty for at least explain that to me. I don't know who the semi-attractive brunette who works there thinks she is, being relatively good looking doesn't make you important and she was as rude and nasty as any sales person I have ever dealt with. My phone had been stolen, I desperately needed a new SIM card and ultimately left the store without one because I was afraid I'd lose it in there. As a rule, if you're working, I respect you and your job but someone needs to tell her that she works retail at T-Mobile. It's fair to say that I despise T-Mobile in general but somehow we've made it work for the last 7 years. There will not be an eighth. These people are only surpassed by eBay as the worst customer service for a major company. F-. When I walked into the store everyone was hanging out talking about how horrible it is the fried chicken won't get delivered without a minimum. I had the pleasure of dealing directly with the manager, Nelson. Who could not have been more rude and incompetent. I purchased the IPhone 6S Plus for the nominal amount of 900 dollars. So to my surprise when within the first week of purchasing it I started having issues. I tried explaining this to the idiot of a manager who than had the nerve to tell me that nothing was wrong without even looking at it. He than says if you want I ll charge you a restocking fee and give you the same phone again as he proceeds to walk away and ignore anything else I had to say. If this is how the manager runs his store you can only imagine the kind of service you can anticipate from the rest of the staff. Avoid this store at all costs. I want to take this time to give my total appreciation to Jarrel S. and the entire T-mobile crew at the 307 Madison Avenue location in Manhattan. What started out as a very stressful start to a new carrier ended up a quick pain free resolve thanks to this particular team. Jarrel went above and beyond to resolve all my issues and worries. Her response was " We are all about customer appreciation" and she proved it. I appreciate this Associate Manager so much especially for fixing someone else's mistakes. At no point did she blame or accuse but instead apologized and felt sorry that I was having such a bad start as a new customer. I have nothing but great things to say about this team.
