Wish I read these reviews first, walked in asking for a 32 GB SD card, he took the camera and put in an SD card directly into the camera. I wasn't thinking clearly so just went on. I thought I was getting it cheap but later on when I went to use it I realised he had put in a 4GB SD card without me looking and massively overcharged me. I should have trusted my gut and left. Do not touch these guys with a barge pole- you WILL be ripped-off!!!! I'm a tourist, needed a SD card, asked their advice and thought they've given me what my camera would optimise (they even checked the camera/card I was using and dissed the card). They offered what I knew to be a mid-spec card but priced it at double what it is priced everywhere else - I didn't know that at the time! That'll teach me to check local prices......just three doors up the street the tech store offered better for almost half the price. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS......... Absolute thieves and a total ripoff. Sold me a fisheye lens add on and battery for $300. The battery for $70, and the fisheye lens add on for $230. I get home, and open it - the battery is all taped up and appears to have been used (the battery in the bag was NOT the one he showed me in the store), and then I decide to check the price of the fisheye add on and battery online - $20 for the brand new fisheye (he put a used one in the bag) and only $11 for the battery. Absolute RIPOFF. Avoid this place like the plague. If you DO have to buy something here, check the price online FIRST, and make sure you keep an EYE ON WHAT THEY SHOW YOU - otherwise you'll end up with used crap in the bag instead of the brand new stuff they show you in the store. We bought a battery for our camera. The price was high as we expected in this tourist area. At least we found the same battery for 50 $ less on Amazon. That would be okay if the battery is fine. But we found out that it is not chargeable to 100%. Bad tourist trap! read more

My girlfriend is a foreign stewardess, she bought a set of headphones here. They were the wrong ones and when she tried to return them for the correct ones, she was told no and verbally abused. When I called, the guy was rude and argumentative and called my gf a liar. When I asked to speak to the owner, I was told they would have him call me. I'm still waiting. AVOID! A member of staff saw me peering through the store window and asked me what I was looking to buy. I told him a mini tripod and he showed me that they only had one mini tripod, before doing the 'salesman talk' on what I was told was a fisheye lense. He told me that they were selling the so-called lense for 'only' $299 dollars when usually it would cost £599. He even showed me where the same so-called lense was on their website, which offered the same price. He said the reason it was so 'cheap' was because they were going to be closed over the next few days doing inventory. Like a massive fool, I impulsively bought the 'lense' and the tripod for 'only' $299-+ tax, of course!-, only to get home, do a proper search online, and realise, to my absolute horror, that the lense and the tripod should only cost maximum $30 dollar. In fact, it's not even a 'lense; at all- rather, it's a cheap lense attachment. These people took advantage of my naivity and lied to me many many times. I have since read A LOT of reviews of this place saying that it is a 'rip-off'...but it's much worse than that- these people are basically thieves. Of course I tried taking back these items, but it says on the receipt that they cannot be returned, and the staff wouldn't budge even when I screamed my head off at them. The final shock was when I went to 'Adorama', a legitimate camera store, to buy a ring to attach the lense to my camera, figuring that I might as well try to use the crap lense despite everything, and was told that this product was actually made for video cameras and would be terrible quality for my regular DSLR. I tried to go back to Bryant Cameras, but they appear to be closed every weekend, and the following day I had a plane to catch. I guess they make so much money robbing everyone blind throughout the week that they can afford to have the weekends off! The bottom line- I have no idea how this awful con place exists, and on Fifth Avenue, opposite the New York City Library at that, but DO NOT get taken in by these people. I stupidly went in here in my last day in NY before returning to the UK. I told the man I wanted to buy a camera for $250 to take home. After assuring me that I could get a bargain because the prices were much higher in the UK, he sold me a camera for $300.when I got back to my hotel and checked online, I found that he had charged me double the price I would have paid even at home. these people are thieves. I took in my tablet which seemed to have died (Nexus 7). They wanted $30 for a quote ( refused to supply a receipt ). They said 'been charged too many times.. is dead.. do you want a new one?' Foolishly I agreed . Was sold a Samsung Tab3 Lite for (with tax) $189 (145 pre taxes), and an Impecca cover with integral keyboard for $50 incl. taxes. Turns out 1/ the tablet is available everywhere for much less, 2/ the cover with keyboard is $15 on Amazon 3/ the keyboard doesn't work. I shopped around for half a day ( was only in NY for 5 days) before purchase but couldn't find similar anywhere and without internet access was stuck with believing them. The Tab3 was for international use they said, whereas the 4 , which was in all stores, was just for the U.S. (The tablet was also Italian- with only Italian warranty and instructions) Now a month later, about to throw the Nexus- and it turned on ! Nothing wrong with it..just overheated when trying to charge from 110 violt socket. I am beyond furious- love to know if there's a legal way to get these guys closed down as there are reviews everywhere condemning them as crooks. Wish I could get this on the front page of the NY papers - they prey on tourists with no time to spare. read more

do not ever buy anything from this store. they mislead you on purpose and then lie about what they said and did. i asked for certain specifications for a camera which the clerk then showed me the one he said had those details. not only was that not true but the price was raised to such a level that it "should" have been what i asked for. when a few hours later i brought the camera back after checking the online details, he said that he told me there were no refunds ever. he never told me that and refused to even acknowledge that he sold me a camera that an 8 year old could use. read more
