Belatedly returning a TMobile router I should have taken back some time ago. (I stalled on my plan to jettison Xfinity and pair TMobile home internet with Sling, Hulu or something else for TV). The manager, Joe, and his colleague Lauren were very helpful and before I could even ask, pulled out a TMobile umbrella I'd hoped to pick up two weeks earlier on TMobile Tuesdays. (My son needed an umbrella, yay!) GREAT TMobile service, glad to be back with them for 5+ years. Thanks to TMobile I have reliable and crystal clear calling and internet as well as value-added bonuses like free Apple TV, Netflix, Hulu and AAA- and sometimes a nice giveaway worth stopping for on TMobile Tuesdays. read more

Store Manager De'Shawn Brown gets 10 stars for his outstanding customer service. My T-Mobile Samsung S-21 phone would not allow me to charge while visiting San Francisco - it gave an error message about the charging port. When I stopped at his store and talked to one of his Customer Service folks, all they could suggest was buying a new phone. De'Shawn overheard my conversation, came over to the station and said, "I think I can fix your phone." He took my phone in the back room and came out 20-minutes later to show me the bits of contamination that he had removed from my charging port. The phone works perfectly now. This T-Mobile store was awful and I usually don't leave reviews but my experience at this one was just bad. I went in to get a simple screen protector replacement for my phone, which usually takes less than five minutes. Normally, when I go in to do this at any T-Mobile store, they will take off your case for you, clean your phone, replace the protector, and put your case back on with no problem. However, when I went in today, they wanted me to take the case off, they didn't even bother wiping down my phone, they just replaced the screen protector and handed it back to me. Of course, this isn't a huge deal, but it really reflects the attitudes of these employee working in the store literally doing the bare minimum. I also asked one simple question about the Wi-Fi router while they were replacing my screen protector and they just straight up ignored me. Very rude unhelpful employees definitely will not be returning. read more

We had an amazingly positive experience at the T Mobile store on Chestnut Street. The two salespeople were so very helpful and courteous AND saved us alot of money. We are long time T Mobile customers and we thought we would have to buy new phiones, BUT the gentleman helping us offered to clean out our plugs and our phones were able to charge easily again. I was a T-Mobile fan while living in Washington, decent coverage and cheap unlimited. Moved to the Bay Area and the coverage doesn't work for me, no issue, I signed up with Verizon since they throw in Apple Music which I pay for anyways and that makes their best unlimited plan within 5 bucks! Try and unlock my T-Mobile phone on Thursday and what was supposed take 48 hours has resulted in three calls and still no results. While it's not the biggest deal waiting, when you have to walk outside to make a phone call it pretty irritating. FYI this is not related to a store. read more

the employees are not knowledgeable about what they are selling. i explained exactly what my needs were (traveling abroad for X amount of time, needing both data and calling). the employee listed out the options and i selected the best one (i specially named the country i was traveling to to confirm the service would work). two days later i come to find the service i paid for doesn't support international. upon returning to the store (with the same employee who sold me the card on shift) i am informed because it was prepaid there is no refund for the service i was essentially conned into buying and "no managers" on shift to help resolve. at this point this is nothing short of a scam. read more

Switched off of AT&T to T-Mobile earlier this year at the Chestnut location. There was no wait, and the team was very helpful. They made sure that my phone was up and working prior to me leaving the store and made sure to explain to me all the different perks and ways to save (autopay = a $5 discount on your monthly bill). Appreciated it! Do note though: when you apply for a T-Mobile account they do a hard credit check, even if you never purchase a device from them. I know it's a company policy and not the store's fault, which is why I didn't ding the store a star. read more

I love these guys. I bought my phone there several years ago. The phone has been pretty reliable, but when I had some glitches (and then a major crash yesterday, most apps would load and then abort, including texting) I have gone in and they have always fixed it. A special shout out to Leo and Dennis who figured out that my phone crashing today was a Samsung glitch, which I never would have figured out. First we had to install Android Web Viewer beta version, then because that didn't do it, Dennis did another bout of research, found that we needed to uninstall and reinstall Chrome. Bizarrely that fixed everything, back up and running! This is not just a store where they sell you phones and sign you up for phone service. They know their products inside out and they will happily trouble shoot tech issues. And we're talking well over a half-hour of man hours devoted just to me. It's like having free tech support for the life of the phone! read more

Phone service is great, I'm speaking more to the manager on duty (2/15/18). Went in, settled on 64 gig iPhone, expressed excitement in 256 but thought overkill.. customer service rep, friendly and personable, goes to the back, manager follows shortly after. After about a minute or two she returns a little nervous, explains to me there aren't anymore 64 gig black phones but only 256 and or upgrade to a plus phone. So beware! The T-Mobile store on chestnut street doesn't have the most widely distributed phone. iPhone 8 Black 64 gig as of 2/15/18. I balked at this notion, she fumbles her pitch, tells me there's a safe with a lock that has the 64 gig phone.... at this point it became clear what was happening. I get it, always upsell. But this just smacked me with the managers stink all over it. This girl had the sale!! It was done deal! I went in for something, she got it for me until her manager stepped in. Now everyone has a bad taste in their mouth on something that shouldn't have been challenging. Beware. read more

I've been a loyal Blackberry user for years, but my new job required me to convert to an iphone. As of last week, I'm happy to report that this iBoy has now become an iMan! Until recently, I was with AT & T. When I tried to upgrade to the iPhone 5, they told me that my contract prohibited me from doing so, and that it would cost me $600. Thanks, but no thanks, dude. So I went down the street to the T-Mobile store. As luck would have it, they were offering an iPhone promotion (pay $99 upfront and $20/month, on top of the service fee, for 24 months). Sounds good to me. Where do I sign?! The guy helping me out was super friendly and patient with all my silly iPhone questions. Will they be able to transfer my contacts from my old phone? Yes. Will he show me how download an app? Yes. Will he show me how to download and play music while on the road? Yes. The only reason I'm holding back one star is because the guy's co-worker made some silly, unprofessional remarks about the Yelp sweatshirt I was wearing. For no reason whatsoever, he started needling me about some of the bad press the company had recently received, and was there any truth to the filtered review rumors, and yada yada yada. While I appreciate his questions and interest in Yelp, do you really think mocking my company is a smart way of closing a sale? Answer: no. Annoying co-worker aside (I don't hold grudges), I do recommend the Chestnut Street T-Mobile store. The good sales rep made my Blackberry to iPhone transition a smooth, painless one. Horrible experience there this evening. I called ahead to see if they had the new iphone 12 pro in stock and they said they did and I let them know I was going to be right over. I show up at about 10 mins later at 4:10pm, to a guy who's standing in the doorway to tell me curtly that they close at 5pm and can only help one person at a time so they probably won't have time to see me. I say I know what I'd like, I called ahead and I can wait. He seemed perturbed that I didn't just walk away. While standing there I asked if I could go in to look at the phones and he gives a quick 'no' that they only can help one person at the time. I ask if he can help me then and he tells me that he has to 'man the line and the door' -- the line is me alone btw. I let him know that it seemed odd to me they couldn't let me in the store or help me and suggested maybe a doorman would help so that they could assist people who need help in the store. His name was 'Cros' and his nametag said he was the Assistant Store Manager. I then finally got in after waiting about 30 mins and Leo quickly informed me that since I had a past due balance that they could not sell me a phone. I let him know that I've always been able to pay a past balance and this has never happened and he said that he could not help me, and that this experience had been extremely frustrating. I then left the store and called the store manager at Van Ness (Neil) who told me that was actually not true -- that I could pay right away and they could in fact sell me a phone. So, I walked back the store with Neil on speaker only to have 'Cros' tell me he was ordering me out of the store for being rude to his employee (not true at all) and they were not going to sell me a phone. Neil heard the entire exchange and offered to stay to help me at their store at Van Ness and help escalate this to management. Honestly this store has the worst and rudest customer service I have had in a very long time and I am shocked they think they can treat customers like this without any repercussions. I literally came in and was begging to buy a new phone worth 1K and they just couldn't be bothered to help me or sell it to me. read more

Great experience with T-Mobile store on Chestnut Street! I have been T-Mobile customer for many years. The reason I have stayed with T-Mobile is their excellent service. Last month, I needed to add a line and went to this store. The representative Nay took care of me. She is patient, knowledgeable and professional. Everything was done smoothly and quickly. Even it was near the closing time, everyone was enthusiastic. This store is not the nearest to me in San Francisco, but it became my "home store" due to their superior service. Shawn is always helpful, ready to answer any questions and solve the problems. Miguel made the store a fun place to be. They are great managers. All the staff here are professional and passionate. Seems like all the sales associates were stuck on something besides this younger fellow named Bellal. He really stood out amongst his coworkers & made my whole experience a pleasant one. The employees at this T-Mobile location are super. I've had a couple of visits. The first was for a transfer from another carrier and the guy was super informative and zero pressure of closing a sale. Forget his name. My next visit was with a iWatch to pair to T-Mobile which took a while to do. Josh was excellent! He was totally competent at every step of the process of sign-up, removing my old carrier resetting the watch. Super patient and focused. He even found me discounts I was not aware of. Meanwhile, the other employees were super nice to the kids randomly coming in from after school and asking lots of questions. read more

Came in today to switch from my at&t grandfather unlimited plan to one of Tmobile plans. Six months back, a At&t employee took me off my unlimited plan without my knowledge when I came in for technical help and have been battling them now for months to get it back. They have repeatedly denied me and finally after hours on the phone with them finally got it back with a $5 increase! Then they told me that if I combine my cell phone, home phone and Internet bills together I would receive $10 off a month on my total bill. Well that was a total lie! After receiving my first combined bill and not seeing the discount, they later told me I had to have direct TV as well to get the discount. It clearly states that if you have THREE or more services with AT&T and you combine the bills into one you will receive $10 off each billing cycle. They have lied and cheated me too many times to stay with them! I came in today to switch my cell phone service (home phone and Internet are next) and found the staff very knowledgeable and professional. It's refreshing to know that they knew how to fix a data bug on my android when about 99% of San Francisco have iPhone's. Switching from iPhone to Android was difficult enough especially when the at&t people had no idea how to navigate an android. Overall the service was awesome and I'm very pleased with them! read more

Very disappointed in the service I got. The person who help me was very nice but mistakes were made that results in this poor review. I came in as a new customer switching two number to t-mobile. On the first phone, my memory chip was removed from my old phone and inserted into an LG phone. There was a prompt about unreadable disk and format question. Before I could say much, the person answered yes. My data was gone! All he could say is he thought that format would only make the original data readable by the LG phone. He suggested some website to unformat the memory card which required purchase of software to do so. He also suggested that I should back up my files from the phone. I wonder how many of you know how to do that? Only after several hours, he finally apologized. The store's wifi network is so slow, it took many hours to attempt to transfer a lot of data from my phone to the new phone using their wifi. Really, a technology phone store with a slow wireless network! He even tried using a data transfer device and still told a long time and failed several times. I was at the store from about 11am to 6:30pm. The second phone, they assigned a temporary number to the phone before assigning the existing number from the old phone to the new phone. Someone deleted the existing number and left the new number assigned to the phone. Anyone calling the original number would get a error message. The other phone belonged to a realtor. You can image how important the original phone number is for a realtor. They called technical support and they said it would take several days to correct. This was unacceptable and they said they would expedite it and said 2 to 4 hours. The existing number did not get assigned to the phone until 14 hours later. The only positive statement I could make is that they were friendly and helpful before all the above issue took place. read more

Called Sun. To get help to unlock a phone, went to T-Mobile San Bruno & they said call 611, did nothing to assist. I did call & the hold was 2hrs, then it calls you back & a robot says hold, that went on for 30min then I gave up. I called the Marina shop & Shawn was superior & said my phn already had the app to unlock it & he guided me like a genius, even sight unseen. 5-star service as I had in the past, second to none. If you are looking for top-notch tech support & excellent customer courtesy, look no further. This is a great place, where a customer really matters. read more

Absolutely the best T-Mobile location....anywhere. I drove today 40 minutes to get there, and it was well worth it. Just bought a new phone- a phone that is T-Mobile approved, but hasn't really come to market yet, so to get this phone to work was not easy at all... it was a nightmare. However, Shawn, the manager of this location, I have known at T-Mobile for many years at this location, and he is the reason I come here. He is not only very smart and capable of just about anything here, but he really will take the time to make sure that you are well taken care of. I am not exaggerating- it took us close to an hour and half to get this phone working- by the way, it was the phone's issue and my issue. I had a problem with my Gmail, and my contacts were saved in my old phone and not backed up....pretty much every issue was caused by me, not T-Mobile. Shawn has put new SIM cards in many other phones of mine and he can do it under 5 minutes = This phone was just a nightmare. But- the point is- Shawn was just amazing. He fixed every issue this phone had, and didn't stop until the phone was up and running, all my contacts were in there, my gmail worked....basically- the phone was totally ready to go. Any other phone in there, Shawn can program it in 2 minutes, I've seen him set them up countless times- but this time goes to show you, that even if you bring him the ultimate nightmare phone, that he can handle that as well- Their customer service is always friendly and helpful- which is why, I have 2 other T-Mobile locations near me, but the Chestnut Street is the only one I will ever go to. I can't imagine another T-Mobile store employee doing as much for a customer as I saw Shawn do today for me. I really appreciate it. And- I really love my new phone. It was worth the chaos at the start to have it working now. I give this location my highest recommendation, and that is because of Shawn. He is the guy to go to. read more

I have a family member with a disability and they wanted to upgrade their phone to a SMART Phone. We went to the T-Mobile store on Chestnut Street in the Marina yesterday. The sales reps in the store are always very professional and nice. But we usually work with the same sales rep. Shawn, who has worked with my family member before, and is familiar with what his phone service needs are. When we work with Shawn he is very professional and attentive, and he takes the time to listen to my family members needs; in how he wanted his new phone set up with apps. and special features to assist my family member with their disability. Each time we go into the T-Mobile store on Chestnut, we always experience that same level of extraordinary customer service. Up sold me on a premium, all you can eat data service package on their 4G network but when I returned to the store to complain it was so slow it would take minutes to load the simplest of websites on my iPhone 6 they blamed it on a "week long national outage" without offering any recourse. If a major carrier has a week long national outage it makes the news...which this did not. Its been several weeks now and no improvement whatsoever on the data speeds. I am from the technology industry and know how phones/networks work. This is my first experience with T-Mobile's network and my take-away is in San Francisco T-Mobile's network terribly under delivers on its promises. T-Mobile's data service is so slow FaceTime calls are impossible and it takes over 3 minutes to load Facebook on Safari. I would strongly suggest you save the money, time and hassle of having to switch back to a real network like Verizon or ATT. I have never written a Yelp or any review before...which is an indicator of how frustrating their service has been these past weeks and how lame the support has been on the phone and in the store.
