Since I have tried reaching out to AT&T on multiple occasion via chat support and their hotline.. Nothing has been resolved. Posting this to raise awareness about the AT&T store located at 2135 Union Street, San Francisco, CA 94123. We were both served by Braden D. We are just traveling around USA so we both wanted to buy a prepaid unlimited data plan. One was working fine and another one received no data. When we went back to the outlet again to request a check on the issue, the store mentioned that they are unable to assist us as a manager is required for resolving the issue and there wasn't any on duty. We were then directed to a second location with a manager. Next, we went to another store located at 851 Clay St, San Francisco, CA 94108. Turns out, there was a manager that was on duty. Upon checking our account, he realised the previous retail associate had bought the wrong plan. 1st plan - Braden from the first outlet had mistakenly activated a 15GB limited plan, leaving only $5 remaining in the account. 2nd plan - Plan received insufficient top-up and was therefore never activated. Not sure what he did. We were both charged $69 usd for our initial plan. At the second store, they told us AT&T does not provide refunds (even if its a mistake made by the retail associate). Frustrated that we had no access to data, we repurchased the unlimited data plan again which override our initial plan that we bought. We tried requesting AT&T to refund us the mistake that their own staff had made. Their support team kept redirecting us to different department. Horrible experience. Will be posting this on other websites with hope to raise awareness about the store and retail associate. read more

The salesman set the bar high for horrible, disrespectful, patronizing, condescending, overall horrible customer service. I was ready to move my service to ATT but had two questions regarding the plan that I'm interested in. I told the salesperson that I had a quote and had two questions. I asked the first question. It included a reference to the plan I want. He immediately started questioning me about what my needs were, why I thought I needed that plan. I told him to just answer my questions. I asked if the plan supports 4G. I'd read that it provides only 5G service. He immediately started to interrogate me about where I'd gotten the information on which my question was based, demanded to see it, asked if I had it with me, told me repeatedly that "you could have gotten it [the information on which my question was based] from anywhere". He had no right to question my assumptions. His job was to answer my question. HIs answer: "all devices support 4G". The problem is that I wasn't asking about a "device". I was asking about an ATT wireless plan. If his job was to alienate, insult and frustrate customers he succeeded magnificently. read more

He said that he has been there 10 years and if I was his manager, I would immediately fire him. I usually don't leave reviews here on yelp but I was really disappointed with the service I got this time. I worked with Tommy. He continuously bragged about himself for being presumably one of the top agents in ATT in the city (which I really doubt knowing him now) while trying to sell me new services. He convinced me to switch to Att tv and home internet by offering me a promotion so I could keep the same rate I've been paying for my wireless plan and pay less for tv/internet compared to comcast. The promotion was only for two months apparently. My bill rose from 200 to 350+75 (tv billed separately) in the next bill cycle. Worst part is that he uses terms like "I got you", "you're my client" which are basically all lies. I'm convinced he does whatever to just get 5 star rating for the ATT customer satisfaction feedback after our visit to the store. read more

I went to get a new SIM card which I lost. during the process staff offered to sell tablets for children. Use it as a gift during holiday. Just pay $7 per month without any other details. I saw that it was only $7 a month so I agreed to buy it and I also asked Can I send it as a gift to my niece abroad? The staff said yes and I can pay off any time, still not mentioning the details that included a $45 monthly data fee, which I later found out. so I went back to the shop and told the staff that I wanted to return Because the other staff were did not tell me the details of having to pay a monthly service fee, if I had known from the beginning, I probably wouldn't have bought it. I sat and wait Until the same staff who I bought the tablet last time came to serve and then looked at my account information and said I have to pay $50 to restock, which I'm not very happy about it. The staff asked the management guy if he could waive the fee for restocking. The management guy pretended to contact the manager and told me the manager said couldn't do it. I'm still trying to explain what happened but he still insisted that I still have to pay the fee. So I asked what day/time when will the manager be at the store? He only replied that he was not here at the moment, was in another location and still said that he was in charge of 7 locations, he knew everything well. No location accepts it back without paying a fee and the way he talked was really getting on my nerve. Be careful at this location. They lie to you and upsell you. The lifetime screen protector is not ($45) lifetime and cracks without dropping it and it's $9 for a new one, which they don't tell you. They took my trade in phone and "ran out of receipt paper" and I also never got the email. They told me to come back in to speak to their manager (in two weeks).... To get a receipt. Who knows where my trade in phone is, they could've pocketed it and sold it. Go buy your new phone directly from the company not through the att store. After multiple speed tests my internet is still far under par and it seems as though every time I reach a costumer service rep they either hang up on me or transfer me to someone who seems to not have my information on file and needs my agreement number only to then also hang up on me after conversing. Ive never been met with so much lack of professionalism in my professional life. Does anybody even work here? Waited over an hour for help. The store was empty and an associate (Damoni) was helping another customer. Another associate disappeared into the back room and was never seen again. Claimed she was waiting for another customer that never materialized. Would it kill you to help out until your customer arrives? Line grew four deep over the course of an hour while Damoni was helping out the original customer. This experience was an absolute disaster. Mellanie was a complete and utter disrespectful piece of work. I accidentally forgot my mask and asked politely if the store had any extras which most stores do. One out of two employees said they had an extra one. I even explained I was there to make a purchase and forgot my mask. Mellanie rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed as though I was putting her out by asking for a mask. She then came up to me and said we aren't letting you in you can go somewhere else. I've never been so insulted in my life. God help you if you have phone service with Cingular/AT&T Wireless. If you have a problem, you *could* call their Customer Service Number and wait on hold for 40-50 minutes. The never ending announcement loop cheerily says "seriously, even though we have kept you on the mo fo hold for 20 mintues, we really do care about you not only as a valuable customer but also as a human being...really...what, you think we are lying...thanks for your patience, chump..." has likely driven more than one person right over the edge. You *could* also log on to their customer service chat room but the wait there is usually about an hour. This is described as "real time" customer service. Real slow time, apparently. You "could* also go to one of their Customer Nighmare stores. There are several in the city. They are all equally bad, but the store on Union is just the worst. The employees are aloof, unwilling to help, surly and lazy. I have made the mistake of going to this particular store three times in the last year and each time was progressivly worse. Today, i stopped by to try and buy a battery for my Blackberry. Not only did they not have this very basic accessory, they were unable to call any of the other Cingular stores (one dude didn't know "how" to call another store and the other dude claimed the 6 other city stores all had busy phone lines...this one I actually believe as they were probably using their own crappy network with the fewest dropped calls in this box only) I could go on and on and on about the terrible service this store and this compnay have, but its not even worth the time. I was on vacation when my phone was stolen. I went to this location and the staff there were extremely helpful navigating me through the complexity of dealing with the insurance. They were able to help me on the phone with Asurion and I had a new phone delivered to my hotel that same day. I think in total I ended up having to go back to this store three times and spent about six hours there recovering my various accounts, setting up a new phone, reconnecting my Apple Watch to my iPhone. While we were there we watched at least five other people who came in because their phones were stolen as well. We watched the staff Handel them with the same friendly service they showed us. read more

I just placed an order for a new phone. Although I was sure I picked the location closest to my house, my confirmation email said I selected the store on Union Street. I called the store to see if they could transfer my order (they can't) and the woman who answered my call - Mel - was unhelpful and rude. When I asked to speak to her manager, she told me she was the manager. When i asked why they can't transfer my order, she hung up on me. Shortly after I received an email saying she had canceled my order. First, I think AT&T should be able to transfer an order. Since they can ship phones, they should be able to ship to a store to make it easier on a customer so they don't have to drive an hour from their house. Second, on the online order, there should be a final "check all this info" page before placing the final order. Although I was sure I selected the correct location, clearly I didn't so a chance to correct that would be great. Third, they need to invest in some customer service training. Poor Mel is clearly unhappy in her job. Hope she finds something she enjoys more (preferably not in customer service). read more

Some mixed reviews here but I can only speak for myself. The first time I went in, Roberto was on his own doing his best to help everyone. I ended up taking his business card and he set up a meeting for me a few days later for a new phone that he'd put aside for me. It was great to speak to someone who knew what he was doing. He really put me at ease. A few days later and I returned to be helped again and was sorted then and there. Ana and Sierra were also on hand to help me through the process and they were great too. Rebuilt our plan from SCRATCH. LONG STORY SHORT: It was time for my husband and I to get our joint mobile plan so we came to our neighborhood ATT Store in Cow Hollow. BIGGEST MISTAKE. Woke up to a $600+ bill the next day FOR A PLAN WITH 2 PHONE LINES after making an account at this incompetent store. Went to ATT in Corte Madera that next day, they saw our account and both the manager and the sales associate were APPALLED at what the ATT at Union St put us through and the level of deceit used to make a sale. FULL STORY: The sales associate, Joe, had no knowledge about anything that had to do with ATT, new plans, etc. So much so that the manager had overheard Joe talking with us about new plan logistics so he "stepped in" to supposedly help. We thought we were in good hands because the "manager" was assisting in this new plan set up, when he ended up being the deceitful one. 1. FORCED US INTO A "FREE PHONE" WE DIDN'T NEED The manager told us that since my husband had already bought his phone through Apple and I was now joining ATT and wanted to upgrade my current iPhone, that we were eligible for the "Buy one get one free" promotion. Keep in mind, my husband already had a phone, and I had an iPhone but just wanted to upgrade mine. What he did was SELL US ON THE BOGO promotion and said, verbatim, "YOU GET A FREE PHONE TO DO WITH IT WHAT YOU PLEASE - SELL IT, KEEP IT IN A DRAWER COLLECTING DUST, WE DON'T CARE. IT'S YOURS, IT'S FREE FOR JOINING". Fast forward to the sales associate, Joe, going over our plan and we somehow now have charges of $49 / month from this "FREE IPHONE" that the MANAGER faked us into getting that said wouldn't cost us anything. Keep in mind A PHONE WE DIDN'T NEED. I confronted the manager then and there and told him that he DID NOT make the charges clear since he told us there were NO FEES involved and to not DECEIVE FUTURE CUSTOMERS. He didn't even apologize. He literally just shrugged his shoulders and walked to another table. 2. LIED ABOUT THE CHARGES ON THE "FREE PHONE" After finding out these charges on the "FREE PHONE", I wrote down what Joe was saying, just so I'd have a record should it be any different on my bill. These were the numbers Joe gave me: $41 charge of phone, $29 monthly credit from ATT, therefore a payment of $12/month for this iPhone that WE NEVER NEEDED, AND THAT WE DIDN'T ASK FOR. When we finally went to the LOVELY ATT store in Corte Madera to fix our account that the incompetent people at the Union Store set up. Apparently those numbers Joe gave us were ALL wrong, the "monthly" credit from ATT wouldn't have been $29, and the monthly charge for the phone we didn't need would have been TRIPLE what he told us. 3. LIED TO US ABOUT NEEDING EITHER INTERNET OR TV SERVICE TO JOIN ATT That's right. He lied and said that with our new plan we NEEDED to get either "FREE internet service for life" (at 12mbps HA!!!) or "DIRECT TV subcription". Literally, take your pick he said. Well, we didn't need a TV subscription, AND we already have internet service (300 mbps), so we said we didn't need either. Well, they wouldn't let us leave until we picked one. So we picked the internet. Verbatim from the manager: "IT'S FREE INTERNET. IT'S A NO BRAINER. IT'S FREE FOR LIFE. THE INTERNET SERVICE GETS BETTER THE LONGER YOU HAVE IT - UP TO 100MBPS. IF YOU MOVE YOU CAN TAKE IT WITH YOU. SET IT UP AS A GUEST INTERNET IF YOU ALREADY HAVE ANOTHER INTERNET SERVICE. USE IT AS A BACK UP. BUT DO IT." So, since we were basically told we couldn't set up this mobile plan without one of the two options, we went with the internet. While Joe was setting this up he was literally ARGUING with me over having someone come to install it ASAP. I said, I don't need anyone to install anything, nor am I missing a day of work to have someone come into my home for something I don't need, just send it and I'll figure it out. Turns out, after being at Corte Madera ATT: YOU DON'T NEED EITHER FOR A PHONE PLAN. 4. ORDERED THE WRONG IPHONE After everything they had already done wrong, they end up ordering THE INCORRECT iphone and on top of that COULDN'T FIX THEIR ERROR BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T CANCEL THE WRONG ORDER THAT THEY HAD MADE. Not only that, but Joe somehow managed to input the INCORRECT delivery information, even after repeating it to him FIVE TIMES. 5. ADDS A DUPLICATE LINE FOR Apple Watch First, he manages to delete the original apple watch number as opposed to bringing it over to our current plan. Then he tricks us into making a NEW number, which created TWO phone numbers for one Apple Watch, that guess what, APPEARS ON OUR BILL AS TWO MONTHLY LINE CHARGES!!! THIEVES. read more

I've been in this store several times and have always had a good experience. Today not so much. Reading these reviews it seems the concern I had wasn't unique to me as too many of them shared the same experience. I was greeted and helped by Romero who was on loan from the Powell street store backfilling for the regular crew on union street who were not in the store today. In the past I've been helped by both Warren and Mike and was disappointed they were not there today but Romero quickly put that disappointment aside with his warm greeting and willingness to help. I give 5 stars to him and to Mike and Warren. The 1 star is for the associate working today with Romero and her name was Melanie. It's not so much Melanie's interaction with me that was of concern it was her treatment towards Romero. How she spoke to him was condescending and accusatory and with just us three in the store it was impossible not to hear her words and tone. I'll admit I was somewhat shocked. Here we have Romero, on loan from another store, there to help both the customer and his fellow employees in a store that was short-staffed and then we have Melanie, a regular Union street employee, who is being both ungrateful and disrespectful to her guest, Romero. Once Romero had finished helping me to my complete satisfaction I got up to leave and Melanie had returned to the floor. I wasn't going to leave without saying something and I hope I didn't embarrass Romero. I'm a retired ATT employee with 30 years service and for any employee to speak to another in the manner Melanie did to Romero there would be consequences. Melanie's explanation for her abrupt manner was "I had to go to the bathroom." Well maybe she did but that doesn't give her an excuse for her behavior. She should apologize to Romero, thank him for spending three days on Union, and give thought moving forward to show appreciation for your fellow employee because it's them who will always have your back. read more

The Worst. Company. Ever. Infuriating customer service. They screw up my bill every single month - without fail and without deviation. And the changeover from ATT to Cingular? Complete trainwreck. When I got my new phone, and had to talk to about seven people to activate it, the jackass customer "service" representative explained that the reason I was getting so shuffled around is because I had called the wrong company (old, when I should have called the new Cingular). How, pray tell, should I have known to call the new Cingular? Because the SIM chip on my new phone was blue instead of silver (or whatever). She seemed really surprised that I didn't know this information. Please. The website is a mess too. Customers who were with the "old" Cingular (ATT) have to click on some stupid link at the bottom so we can be directed to the crappiest website in the world at which we can usually find no information. Why are customers who have stayed with this "company" for years punished by even crappier service than new customers? Reception and rates are fine; that's why I stay. But, lordy, give me a company that rivals both of these and I am so there. UPDATE: A few months ago, I switched to "combined billing" because the Cingular rep assured me that it would make my dealings with Cingular easier and, really, that much more convenient. This month, my bill was almost double what it usually is. When I called Cingular to inquire, the rep told me it's because the statements from last month were "late" (by late she meant, "didn't go out at all"), so Cingulair just figured they'd double bill everyone this month with no advance notice, no credit for their screw up, and a 45 minute hold time to figure out the problem. Update: It's sad because I really had a good experience with their store (see below), but I have found Cingular's service and cell reception to be horrendous at best. Dropped calls, hard to hear connections, sometimes no or little reception. Very frustrating, I wish I was still on Sprint PCS. Old Review: As some of you may know, I managed to lose my Sprint cell phone this past Friday while yelping it up with some yelpers. Not that I've been entirely disappointed by Sprint but I was always looking for a reason to switch providers, and this was the catalyst. My wife is on Cingular so that made the new provider choice relatively obvious, and then the birth of the Razr phone cinched the deal. So this Saturday I went on over to the Union Street Cingular store and was quickly helped out by one of the salespeople. The whole process of migrating over to Cingular was relatively painless (and to be fair Sprint was cool about it too when I had to check if my contract was over). I now have my new hot phone, missing some numbers (but now have Bluetooth so this won't happen again, will it?), and all in all am now ready to face this cellular nation of ours once again. read more

The next I get a bill, my bill is DOUBLED and they billed my bf's plan $216 instead of $40 because they didn't change the plan and do as requested. AT&T hires imbeciles. I moved apartments and continued my internet service at my new place. The technician installed the necessary hardware and left. I continued paying to my original account for 2 months, and my service stopped. I called AT&T immediately, and they informed me that no account existed for my address. They transferred me to different departments and could not come up with an explanation or a solution. They put me on hold for a long period of time which ended up with them hanging up on me. This happened twice. They soon sent a debt collector after me for 3 months worth of bills + penalties. They expected me to pay for their employees' errors and inadequacies. I TRIED TO PAY MY BILL... TWICE, but they apparently weren't smart enough to take the money at the time and ultimately wanted to ruin my flawless credit and prevent me from buying a home. Thanks AT&T, keep on hiring idiots. Absolutely horrific and deceitful business practices. I came in to the store to check the insurance policy on my phone to see if it was possible to get a replacement for my stolen device and was "helped" by Gabriel. After taking a whole 20 seconds to check my insurance, he lied to me and said I didn't have insurance (turns out after various calls to ATT directly the next day that I DID in fact have insurance). He then proceeded to try to sell me an added feature for an extra $11.99 charge a month that would supposedly "cover me". I explicitely told him NO, do not add anything to my account, but guess what? The next day in my calls to ATT, it turns out he had in fact added an extra $11.99 monthly charge to my account WITHOUT my permission! After failing on his first sales pitch (or I guess succeeding since he ended up adding the extra charge without my consent anyways...) he proceeded to take multiple phone accessory items off the shelves and started asking me if I wanted to buy those too. I again said NO but he kept going, badgering my boyfriend and I that we might need these protective cases if we "go bike riding". I went back the next day to talk to a manager of the store (Al) who was also extremely rude. I told him how his employee had lied to me about having no insurance on my phone and how he had added a charge to my account without my permission, but he didn't seem to care very much. In fact, Al also got defensive and tried to tell me I had no insurance on my device as well! I had him double check this, which he did, and turns out he was wrong. Upon finding this out, he barely acknowledged his mistake, let alone apologized for it. Al then proceeded to get more defensive, telling me it wasn't "his fault" my phone had been stolen. Very true Al, that was not your fault at all. However, having an incompetent deceitful employee who was improperly trained, added charges to my account without my permission, and continually tried to shove overpriced cellphone accessories in my face (instead of helping me with what I asked) IS YOUR FAULT. It is also your fault that even YOU, as a manager, don't know how to check someone's insurance plan properly. Lastly, it is also your fault that your employee unnecessarily set up a full price iPhone for me, which I subsequently had set up with all my work email, etc., all so that I get to do it all over again when I get my insurance replacement! In conclusion, I came into your store after the unfortunate situation of having my phone stolen, hoping that someone would be able to check my account and perform the necessary next steps to fix the situation. Instead, I came out of your store defrauded and lied to. I am truly still in shock at the service I received here. BEWARE: this store has no idea what they are doing. If you want to avoid a massive migraine; cheap and fraudulent sales practices; and overall terrible service, I suggest you call ATT directly instead of visiting here.
