I have been a loyal ATT customer for over 25 years. I am relating to an experience which began back…read morein April when I entered the Champaign Illinois South Neil Street location to upgrade both lines on my account. My phone had been rendered inoperable, and the other line on the account was eligible for upgrade. I walked out with a new phone that day. The other line, which belongs to my son, was upgrading to a phone not in stock, and we were told it would be mailed to him. Knowing my son, I specifically asked Brayden to confirm if the need for return was 30 days from receipt or 30 days from activation. Brayden specifically told both of us it was 30 days from activation. I commented my son was famous for not activating phones right when he got them, and he confirmed activation. My son returned the phone to the store on 4/3 (photo of receipt attached) within 30 days of activation. Nothing was mentioned about the phone's condition, and my son says the guy checked it to see if it turned on before giving him the receipt. Note the associate name on the bill is Ronald. My July and August bills were double the amount I expected, so in August, I went into the store and inquired as to why. Brayden said it was because things hadn't filtered out yet, everything looked good, and they hadn't applied all the credits and everything should migrate within the next billing cycle. It did not. I live 45 miles from this store. As I didn't want to make a third trip, I ended up chatting online with customer service who insisted the phone was never turned in, although I offered the receipt. This agent asked for the old device's IMEI number. I explained the device was turned in to the store and I did not have access to that anymore. The agent was insistent that I needed to provide the number. What he would NOT do is provide me with a way to share the receipt with him. I decided to call the store again. I asked for Brayden, but the associate (who failed to identify himself) was not willing to give me a time when Brayden would be in, nor would he leave a message. He did say, however, "I don't HAVE to help you if you don't want it." I waited a bit, and then tried chatting online again. The next agent confirmed the phone was received, however, this agent told me we were ineligible for the $800 credit, because the phone was not returned within 30 days of receipt. Remember me confirming that with the original agent? This agent did offer me a $400 credit, and said if I could prove the associate said activation, he would make good on the $800. On 11/25/25 I went back to the store. Brayden reiterated that it indeed was activation, and said he was reaching up his ladder and I should receive an email from his superiors in a few days. Two weeks passed, and I still had not received the email, so I tried chat again, asking if they could review the account notes, and they responded no notes as to the store visits are present. This time, Nelson was able to find where the phone was returned. But....NOW I'm told that the phone was received too late, was "damaged" and therefore not eligible and declined the $400 credit previously offered. He was confused about the note from the trade in department which started off "Screen turns on/screen does not turn on" or words to that effect, and suggested I try calling the trade in dept. I did and was simply told the phone was damaged and wouldn't turn on, which I find difficult to believe when the agent accepting in person verified the phone was operable upon acceptance. On 12/4/25 I tried to call the store again, hoping to talk to Brayden. He wasn't in. I asked when he would be back. The associate, who again failed to identify himself, said "I can't tell you that." He did finally say that Brayden opened the next day. I attempted to email PrimeComm, the company who manages this location. My first email did not illicit a response. I followed up with another on 12/12/25. On 12/17/25, a person identifying himself as Dagen Ellison, District Manager, finally responded with the following: "My name is Dagen, and I am the District Manager for Prime Communications, the authorized AT&T retailer on S. Neil Street in Champaign. I have received your feedback regarding the concerns you experienced at this location. I am currently reviewing the situation and will be looking into this matter further to ensure it is addressed appropriately. Please note that this process can take approximately 4-6 weeks to be fully reviewed and resolved. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me directly here if you have any additional details to share or if there is anything further I can assist with. Thank you for bringing this to my attention." On 1/12/26, I emailed him asking for an update. To date I have not received a response. The lessons I learned? Don't use an Authorized Retailer, as they do not communicate well with Corporate, and don't expect a response.

It amazes me that a large company like AT&T is content with just ignoring the fact that they stole money from an unsuspecting victim. Do they think I'm just going to forget about it and walk away?

They activated a new plan before activating the new phone. The technical support team could not be reached on that Saturday to fix the problem, so I was without my original phone number all weekend. Having had this phone number since 1998 AND being stuck in the store for 2 hours, I was very frustrated. They activated another phone number, so I had one for the weekend. On Monday, they called and asked me to activate the PIN code, so I could have my old number attached to my old phone. When trying to activate my old number, however, they ran into more difficulties and my phone was dinged as having fraudulent activity connected to it. Rather than taking care of this issue at the store, I had to talk to Verizon for a solid hour to resolve the problem. I would NEVER advise ANYONE to EVER buy something from this store. I'll stick to the corporate Verizon store or go through the online process to upgrade again. Be wary of going to this establishment.

They convinced me to buy a new phone because of the $1,100 trade in. This was in MARCH. I mentioned to the manager, Ziara, that my landline phone on my elevator had gone from 24.99/mo to $68/month. She said if I bring her my bill she could have my line installed on my internet, bringing the cost back down to 24.99. A week later, I did. When I arrived home my husband was upset that our internet wasn't working and his phone had been switched to my phone. We both went to the store, and Ziara explained that she must have accidently switched the phones when she opened our At&t account, and switched them back. Fine. This was my 3rd trip to the store. On April 14, I returned to the store because my phone was not working properly. I assumed it had to with our being out of the country on a cruise ship for 2 weeks while using the phones even though my husband's phone was fine. Ziara "fixed" it once again and mentioned that she noticed I was still using Uverse when she looked at my bill earlier. She then said I could save $300/mo if I switched over to Direct TV. I told her I'd had Direct TV before, I discontinued it, because it was difficult to operate. She then said, if I get it, she'll send one of her "guys" to come over Tuesday morning to install the boxes and instruct me on how to use it. So I bought 5 boxes and waited for their arrival. Tuesday morning an At&t service technician, Joe Steele, arrived to switch my land line to the internet line. He was not from the store and had no idea about my arrangement with Ziara. However, he installed a box on my main tv, and gave me some guide lines about how to use it. This is the only real service I've received. A couple days later I went to the store because I hadn't received an email since April 14, the last time it got "fixed", and to ask why her "guys" didn't show up. She said she wasn't sure what happened. I had to insist that she follow through getting me help as part of the conditions we made when I bought Direct TV. At that point, she said, ok, I'll come over to your house myself 9:00 Tuesday morning. She was a no show! I wasn't surprised, but I was pretty pissed at this whole situation. I found the card Joe Steele left, and told him what happened. Reason being, he'd informed his supervisor,Mike Johnson, about the bad service I've been receiving and obtained authorization to help me further if necessary. It was definitely necessary, so Joe came over on a Saturday and installed 4 of the boxes and made sure they were working properly with more instructions on using Direct TV. We had terrible thunder storms in June and the tvs went offline. I called At&t, they said my router was broken. They sent me a new one, but things still weren't working. I called Joe, he came right over, fixed everything including my phone, except for the pop ups. Now that's customer service! Too bad AT&T doesn't realize what's going on between customers and employees. If they do, Shame on Them!

The representative ordered me to take the phone back and get another device ordered (more money) I took the device back to 1712 West Springfield Avenue in Champaign Illinois my fiance tried explaining to the young man what we were ordered to do however he got frustrated and then told my fiance and I can get the fuck out of his store and argued with me and he told me that I was a black broke bitch (unbelievable) and as we left out of the store witch was clearly still open he came to the door and said more rude things to us... Yesterday was the final day to return the device so Ziara Randolph (store manager) rushed to the door and said that I couldn't come in the facility because of the boy that was rude to my fiance and I were clashing only my fiance could could come in.... at this particular time it was raining outside as well tornado warnings were happening,I then stepped into another store and called the 1800 number and filed a complaint Ziara Randolph gave my partner a piece of paper stating I can't come back (why didn't she put it in my hands... I was standing outside in pouring rain when I looked back the young boy was staring at me trying to intimidate me...I was told by an agent just to go to a different location (I'm on the bus line) remind you that I suffer with fibromyalgia and neuropathy so it's kind of hard to get around..At&t then gave me extra time to turn the device in..I also go to Parkland college and I was going to order an IPhone and a tablet for courses and I was turned around unable to purchase the devices... I didn't do anything to anyone and I pay my bill every month so I should get the proper service that's advertised im really appalled and something need to be done about it...Im chronic illness that requires me to have a phone at all times.. this is unacceptable for paying customers

I went to pick it up and he wouldn't let me see the phone before I paid in order to inspect the work. Upon payment as soon as I looked at the screen I noticed something was off. The refresh rate was way too slow and there was a noticeable lag when I swiped through my phone. There was also a substantial difference in the colors on my screen. I immediately brought it to his attention and he said "that's normal. It will still work just fine" and offered no solutions to my problems. The next day I noticed something else not quite right about the screen; it's absolutely draining my battery life on my phone. My 15 pro max used to last all day of constant use and still have battery left at the end of the day. Now if I look at a text or scroll less than 5 TikTok's it will eat 10% of my battery. As far as the speed of the repair, if you really need something fixed fast I guess I would recommend them for that. If you want a quality repair with quality parts, find someone else to do the work.
