Don't use the lady named Ivy. She is very unprofessional and argumentative. Her customer service…read morewas horrible. She was very rough and asked if she was the only one that I have experienced that with. I said yes. Overall, it's a great place. I've been going for a while. I usually book appointments but saw my nails needed some help and walked in today. I have little ones and needed some mommy time. She said she doesn't use the white powder for dip nails. I asked why and she said that's her way. I politely asked her if she could use it as I have always had the white powder on my nails before the application. (Every nail tech uses the white powder) She refused very abruptly and told me that's how she does it. She was very rude. She asked if I normally come in and I said I do but today was just a one off and she said maybe you need to schedule your person next time. I said I most definitely will. You shouldn't have to tolerate disrespect if you don't book someone. I asked the front desk receptionist what do you call the white powder that's placed on the nails before the dip color. The nail tech, Ivy, said out loud in front of the receptionist, She won't know she is not a nail tech. I love the owners and I have been to several nail salons in the area and this place is by far the best! You get in and get out! I have recommended several people and they all love it there. They do not go to her though. They were busy and I extended grace but the disrespect from the tech was a no. I will keep going. I am very loyal to Star nails. This is my first issue in 5 years.

You know what I hate talking about other peoples work. I've been to This place once before and I…read morehad a good experience. I came today and it wasn't too busy so I didn't have to wait long. I will say that the front staff are always so welcoming and sweet. My issue started AFTER sitting down. I was getting my hands done and a pedicure. I will say the lady who did my toes was super sweet and nice. She did a good job too but the only thing was i wish she went a little more on cleaning under the nails. But overall she was great. Now let's talk about the young woman who did my hands. From the beginning she just looked upset or bored. Some can even say she looked like she didn't want to be there at all. I know her name but I'm not going to blast her because she could be a good nail tech and was having a bad day. Or she could still be a new etc. overall I'm not going to call her out. Anyways, I told her I wanted French tips and wanted the shape squared/oval. She said she could do that. That was the only time she spoke to me. Honestly that doesn't bother me. Because sometimes you don't want to have small talk. Anywho, she finished the shape and I didn't like it. I told Her but she didn't fix it. And I was "trusting the process". Then she started painting the French tips and she asked if I liked it. I said no that's not the way I liked them which I then showed her again. She then got an attitude about it. She "fixed it" but it still wasn't the way I liked. The French tips went across with little to no curve and if you look at the nails it looks a little wonky. Then when she went to cure the nail polish she started getting mad at the AGAIN because my thumb "wasn't cured". Note I was getting both hands and feet down and she had her lamp on my lap and was angled all weird. Well she's like "you need to make sure to put your fingers right ". I'm like You're the one who positioned my hands. Whatever. Overall once she was done she didn't speak to me. Didn't ask if I liked it and walked away. Didn't say goodbye. Then when I was trying to pay for the service, she sat down behind me while I paid and watched me. So I just didn't feel like arguing with her so I paid. Let unhappy and I'll just find a way to fix them at home because they're not what I wanted. The other staff looked friendly though. The place looked clean and welcoming. But in still indecisive if I'll come back. For the price I paid I felt it was so much for no good results.

An amazing thing happened for me at this nail salon. My hope in humanity was restored. So...I was…read moresetting up for my brother in law's rehearsal dinner at the Tuscan Slice, and one of the centerpiece figurines got knocked over and shattered. It was a pretty important one because it came from a character in a play that he performed in. My mother-in-law asked me what I thought we could use to temporarily fix it for the evening, so my search for super glue began. We didn't really have enough time to drive far to a store, so I ran down to the Aldi in the same shopping center, but there was nothing useful there. Then to the 7 eleven on the corner. Nope. Walking back, dejected, I thought maybe that nail salon would have something I could buy. I poked my head in, like a middle aged straight guy who's never considered going into a nail salon. They could see it on my face. "Yep, this guys having a day." After explaining the situation, she said "we don't sell items individual items, only services." That's when she did something unexpected. She reached behind the counter and cut open a little vile of nail glue. "Here it's on the house. Just try not to get any on your skin" I ran back to the restaurant and fixed the figurine. These people are genuine saints. Although I have never had my nails done at all, I thought about going back and getting a manicure just to show my appreciation. Needless to say I hope good karma comes their way for their generosity.
