This was my first time visiting a PP facility, and I came for an IUD insertion. After watching the…read moreInauguration, I decided I couldn't wait for my gyno's schedule to coincide with my period(which is her preference as a clinician, that you be on it during insertion). So I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for PP in Orland Park online. The women at the front desk were really nice. I handed over my ID and insurance card, filled out some paperwork and electronically signed some consents as well. About 15 minutes later, they had me come back to take a pregnancy urine test. The bathroom was immaculate. I judge everything on bathrooms, from dollar stores to restaurants. If the bathroom is not spotless, I am out of there. About 5-10 minutes after that, the nurse brought me back to take my vitals and medical history. Very kind and warm person, I asked her a lot of questions and she took her time to address each one and make sure I understood. 10 minutes later, I am having the insertion done by a very bubbly and chatty NP. Thank goodness for her! She had a great bedside manner and our chats kept me distracted from focusing on the discomfort. She handed me written aftercare instructions as well as verbally relayed them to me, answered the couple of questions I had and I was done! Really nice facility - Very clean, not at all run down, warm staff that care about your health as much as you do- I'd return any time.

Firstly, the service was OK, I had a nurse who didn't really answer my questions and was condescending, but to top it off, they miscoded the service and now I'm in the hook with my insurance for $1600. I had calls back and forth, back and forth with them and they refused to address any of it - saying I answered the medical questionnaire a certain way, my appointment was then assigned a certain type of visit and hence the code was assigned according to that and couldn't be changed when the visit was not that and I think the questionnaire was misleading to begin with as it did not correlate to whatever they deemed was "the type of visit" -- it was a subjective decision. Calling and asking for a review over and over again did nothing and they refused to provide me with someone higher up who could actually assist with the issue. They also invalidated the information I was providing them which was medical information to make my point; they made specific claims that only a doctor should have been able to make. Overall, I do not plan on visiting a planned parenthood ever again.

While I was trying to leave I was having trouble with the double doors. One of the employees sees this, but she is too busy exchanging information and flirting with a patient who was also leaving. The two ladies at the front desk were in shock at how blind she was and they decided to nicely speak up for me. Instead of the employee in the doors helping me, she simply steps to the side and finishes her conversation with the patient. I get out of the doors and I see her hug the patient. The lab had an extra vial of what I needed for my injection and everything I needed was taken care of in a very timely manner. Past appointments took several hours with lots of wait time. Whatever Alpha Med is doing to get things back on track and keep things moving worked today. Very pleased and told the doctor how pleased I was. He said they are working to improve wait times.
