Wow. This place is super charming! The interior is gorgeous & really beautifully decorated. It was really clean too. As soon as I walked in the smells were captivating! We ordered halwa puri , a traditional Pakistani breakfast. They make it Lahore style. It was so DELICIOUS! The puri was crispy and soft and perfectly cooked, the Chana was nicely spiced, but not too spicy, and the halwa was perfect- not too wet or sweet and not dry! The waiter was so respectful that and accommodating. The prices were VERY reasonable and the food takes a bit but be patient as they are cooking it fresh, and it's worth the wait. It's in a casual ish plaza with a more intimate atmosphere than the rest of the restaurants in the strip. This would certainly make a cute date spot.

You might not expect much on the corner of another Edison Strip Mall, but as Tabaq's mighty sounding name might suggest, there's more to it than meets the eye. When I spotted the dining hall side's silvery pillars, I thought I might be walking into something special - I wasn't disappointed. The restaurants interior is decorated with beautiful vines and vegetation. Definitely some rainforest cafe vibes, but without the darkness or crazy animal noises thank god. This is a place to bring your big families because there's ample seating, lighting, and it's just a cool place to hang out and enjoy your food. The menu is as WILD as the interior decor. There are so many options! I particularly liked that it had a Halal Chinese Fusion section. Truthfully I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Chinese offerings weren't too different from the authentic Szechuan food I'd had in the past. The spicy lamb, the hot fish, and the noodles were all top notch. Of course, you can't come here without eating the Desi food. I was slightly disappointed by the Mixed Grill - apologies if I'm mistaken, but it seemed that what we got was not what was promised on the menu. Regardless, the meat was well flavored though perhaps grilled too long. The karahi chicken was also well seasoned and well portioned. I wouldn't say this is the best Desi food in NJ - for superior quality I'd recommmend Gulberg Bistro or Karachi Kafe - but I think Tabaq does an admirable job and will certainly fill and satisfy your stomachs!

My family and I have been regulars at Tabaq for years, especially for their fantastic Pakistani and Indo-Chinese cuisine. After drifting away to try new places, we decided to return and were pleasantly surprised to find that the food has improved even more since our last visit! We ordered the chicken garlic rice, chicken corn soup, chicken biryani, chicken Behari kebabs, bhia kebabs, and mango lassi. Every dish was flavorful, with the Indo-Chinese items arriving promptly and tasting just as delicious as we remembered. The chicken biryani took a little longer--about 40 minutes--but the wait was well worth it as it was packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. Tabaq remains a family-friendly spot, though it does tend to get loud due to the crowds. Despite the noise and slightly slow service on the biryani, this place is still a gem for authentic flavors and hearty meals. We'll definitely be returning again soon!

Located in the bustling South Asian suburb of Edison, this place was recommended to me by a friend. The ambience of the restaurant is above average, it just feels as if we are sitting in a forest and having our meal. They should rather improve it by renovating into a traditional Pakistani interior to make the people feel like they are dining in their own country. Service definitely needs to be worked upon. When entering the restaurant, there were two staff members in conversation with each other and none was even caring to ask about the number of people in order to assign the table, which was needed to be asked upon. Also, the restaurant failed to provide drinking water for a long time even after being seated. One elderly customer too complained about the slow service by the staff. The order did arrive after a good 30 mins, which is fine as they needed time to cook the meat to perfection! It was Mr.Ehsaan who did the serving duties of taking and bringing the order and he was courteous enough to let us know about any delays. The food is the best part of their restaurant. Initially we started off ordering Lamb Chops and Butt karahi chicken. It was accompanied by Roghni Naan and Sesame Naan. Lamb Chops: The flavor of lamb was out of this world, the meat cooked to perfection. It easily came off the bone as soon as I had a bite. The charred pieces of lamb too felt tasty enough. Lamb chops with Roghni Naan made it a deadly combination! I wish they had served mint chutney with this.. would have been even better! Butt karahi (Chicken): Honestly, please order this if you are in a group. This dish is definitely one of their signature dishes and it was delicious too. The gravy did feel tangy as I tasted but didn't understand the other spices which were there but anyways.. I enjoyed it. For the first time in my life I enjoyed boned chicken. Must say these people do cook meat to perfection! Roghni Naan: Always seen it in the YouTube food vlogs of Peshawar/Lahore and it fascinated me. The naan was soft to the core and fun to eat . It was so good that one can easily eat it without any accompaniment. Sesame Naan: This dish was also fresh out of tandoor! Soft and crispy enough, it went great with the butt karahi chicken. Chicken Biryani: I was expecting biryani to be great but probably had some really high expectations. They used the broken basmati rice for the biryani whereas the biryani lacked a bit of flavor. The meat pieces were in good quantity but had a lot of bones. I hope they improve on this though! Special mention to the chaas they had provided, it was delicious! But sadly they only provided one so we had to request them another one! Whereas we also had to ask them for extra onion and lemon for lamb chops. The restaurant should keep an eye on little things as such! Overall a good place to try out the food, but service needs to be improved upon if they are to be competitive enough!

I have order from uber eat Goat Biryani and Goat karahi special. Biryani is not good .its looks like its not fresh and not good meat .I will not recommend this biryani. Quantity is also very less. its not enough for one person. Don't call this is biryani. Goat karahi special is also not good. Please don't adv as this is Pakistani restaurant.

The food here is amazing and the service is very good too. They were so accommodating for the birthday and let us bring a cake and celebrate too! The ambiance is beautiful with a very fun atmosphere. Their decor is really nice as well and the owner was very nice and gave us free chai as well. It was overall a very nice experience so definitely give this place a try.

Tabaq is an excellent Pakistani restaurant in Edison. They have excellent food. There's a lot of free parking. Service is polite. It's really pretty inside. I had the mix grill and sone other things. Everything was really excellent. There's a separate take out section.

The tomato onion based curry lacked salt and spice and the actual soya pieces were too soft and mushy in texture. Wish these were a bit more dense as experienced in other restaurants. Roomali Roti- drown in ghee and it must have sat over a gas flame because it tasted of bad chemicals. Basically like eating the ghee-soaked cotton swabs from the candles at the local temple. I went here for lunch with some of our friends and family and after having had a heavy home breakfast and hence didn't have an appetite for the Thali meals. That's the same reason I didn't click a lot of pics like I would usually do. The vegetable biryani, SPDP chaat and puris with aloo subzi came in no time from the time we ordered. As much as the food was tasty I found them bit salty and the subzi little oily - this coming from a salt lover who tends to add salt to anything he eats, you can trust me. Overall a good restaurant serving quality food and with ample parking space (weekend parking story could be little different).

We had planned to try several items but ended up ordering only Sarson ka Saag - Makki ki Roti and Dahi Puri due to limited availability. The saag was flavorful, though the roti seemed to be a mix of besan and makki (cannot confirm this though). The Dahi Puri was okayish, but little bit too dry. Hence, won't recommend this dish. Many guests were turned away because of the inaccurate closing time listed online. I recommend calling ahead to confirm before visiting.

When entering from Grove Ave, it's easy to be a little bit confused because the restaurant is stuck in the corner behind what used to be Stop n Shop and such. The shopping center is certainly very empty without the anchor grocery store, so it's often quite easy to miss this. Knowing that the restaurant opens dinner service around 6, we got here just before then and realized that the staff was already accepting people beforehand. That was great. As my girl is from Goa, this was a place that was on her mind for some time to try. Likewise, I wanted to try some authentic Maharastrian food too. To start, we ordered a mango lassi & a Kaira Panha. I stuck with the former, which was great. My girl enjoyed her drink too, though def not my first preference. For an appetizer, we ordered the Kothimbir Wadi. This was quite tasty and well enjoyed with the chutney. Certainly authentic. For the main meal, my girl enjoyed her fish fry. I got the Veg. Kohlapuri along with Garlic Naan. The Kohlapuri was good and was easily able to finish it. The only small gripe we had was that the tomato-based curry kinda reminded me of a North Indian korma that you'd get from other establishments. My girl noted this and do wonder whether this is truly the proper way of making and enjoying a Vegetarian Kohlapuri. She noted it was meant to not have a tomato base and was supposed to be a bit more flavorful. As this was my first time, I'm not sure if I can fully validate this, but it's worth a question. Nonetheless, I can't complain about the food. Just simply a curiosity on my end.

Nagpuri Saoji - Saoji Chicken curry

Saoji is a fiery, deeply spiced, mostly non-vegetarian cuisine said to have originated with the…read moreHalba Koshti weaver community of Madhya Pradesh. When the community migrated to Nagpur in 1877, their food followed -- spreading through the tradesfolk and mill workers who embraced its bold flavors. Today, Saoji is considered the signature cuisine of Nagpur: intensely spiced, unapologetically hot, and built around powerful, roasted masalas. Tonight we ate at Nagpuri Saoji in Voorhees (they also have a location in Iselin), and these two spots are reportedly the only places in the U.S. where you can experience this cuisine in its full, blazing glory. To Start We began with sabudana vada -- the classic Maharashtrian fritter made from tapioca pearls, mashed potatoes, peanuts, and spices. Served piping hot and impossibly crisp outside with a tender interior, they came with two chutneys and were absolutely sublime. Alongside that was goat sukka, a dry-style mutton preparation associated with the Mangalore and Udupi regions, with spice influences tracing back to Goa and even Arab and Turkish traders. Coriander, fennel, cumin, black peppercorns, and fenugreek give it depth and warmth. It was bold, savory, and incredibly flavorful. The Curries I ordered chicken kala masala curry, and it was deeply earthy, nutty, and robustly savory. "Kala" means "black" in Marathi -- referring both to the color and to the roasted spice blend itself. Cumin, coriander, cloves, cinnamon, stone flower, coconut, sesame seeds, and chillies are roasted and ground into a dark, complex masala that lingers beautifully on the palate. We also ordered Goat Handi, with tender meat in a velvety, aromatic gravy, and a Malwani goat curry, made with Malvani masala from the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra -- a spice blend that balances heat with coastal warmth and depth. Rice, plain naan, and indulgent Amul cheese naan rounded out the meal. Dessert We finished with Sitafal Rasmalai (custard apple-infused rasmalai) and Jamun Rabdi -- both creamy, fragrant, and perfect against the lingering spice. A Few Notes Like much traditional Asian cooking, the meat dishes are cooked on the bone -- so eat mindfully. And if you request "hot," they mean hot. This is not toned-down spice; this is the real deal. I was thrilled to try dishes from India that I've never made before. Saoji cuisine is bold, unapologetic, and absolutely delicious -- and I'll definitely be adding some of these flavors to my home repertoire. If you have the opportunity to try this cuisine -- do it.

The tarri tasted weird so it ruined the entire dish. Same tarri was present in the misaal too, so this dish was ruined too. Sol kadhi was average. The service was fast and the ambience is okay-ish. Honestly, would not recommend this place for their vegetarian options!
