    Vegetable Samosa

The last time I visited this restaurant it was located at another location on Amboy Avenue, which was much smaller. I was very surprised to see how large the dining room in the current location. You could easily host a large event at this restaurant with enough seating for 100 guests and more. The food is still as good as I remembered. I ordered the Punjabi Saag with Garlic Naan, as well as Vegetable Samosa. My friend ordered the lentil saag and veggie pakora. The service was timely and everything tasted delicious, although I do wish that the Vegetable Samosa had chickpeas... It mostly consisted of potatoes and curry, but still very delicious.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zaika BBQ and Grill, thanks to a couple of friends who took us there for lunch during our visit. We started with the spring rolls as appetizers, which were a great start to the meal. For the main course, we enjoyed a variety of dishes: chicken biryani, chicken karahi, and chicken kabobs. We also had three different flavors of naan. Although I frequently eat naan, this was my first time trying sesame naan, and it was incredibly delicious! Out of everything, the karahi stood out as my favorite--it was super tasty and full of flavor. To finish off the meal, we indulged in Gulab Jamun for dessert, accompanied by Peshawari Kahwa Chai. The dessert and chai were the perfect ending to an amazing meal. The service was good, and overall, it was a great dining experience.

I haven't had Zaika since they've changed locations (it's been a while). I decided to order a few things and pick up. I ordered butter chicken with white rice, vegetable samosa chaat and the beghare began (eggplant). Everything had good flavor. The rice had portions that was cold for whatever reason. Aside from that, food is good. Not the warmest welcome when I walked through the door would be my only critique. A kind hello, smile, welcome, etc., can be the difference maker in a dining experience. I just didn't very welcomed during this visit. I may try again.

Went at about 1:30pm on Sunday. Place was empty and we were disappointed to hear that the buffet doesn't take place until 6pm (until 9pm). -service: okay. A bit slow considering we were the only dine-in patrons at the time. Waiter was forward about portions. Was entertained and surprised to see a robotic busboy (a machine that brought our food from the kitchen on a tray. Picture included). The waiter than would come and place the dishes from the trays onto our table. -mutton biriyanj: good flavor, nice little spicy kick. -lamb bbq platter: delicious. Would have preferred more if a different meat. Than to have small lamb chops but that's a personal preference. Overall the food was very food. Look forward to returning to taste their buffet.

We ordered the followings: Sweet Lassi (3*) Mango Lassi (4*) Garlic Naan (4*) Zaika's Lamb/Beef Mix Grill (5*) Butter Chicken (4*) Goat Curry (5*) Salad is free and very fresh. Garlic Naan is a bit pricey. Goat Curry is very delicious Zaika's Lamb/Beef Mix Grill is a good choice in cold weather.

Honestly, these chaats rated about a 2.5 but ima skew them up to 3 stars, because an orange 3 stars looks more prettier than a yellow 2 star. Lol Anyhow, ordered the 2 favorites chaats of mine. Chaat papdi and dahi puri. Chaat papdi was bland. Hardly spicy and lacked that "kick". They had " chaat ka masala" which is a powdered seasoning but it didn't help. It's something like sumac powder found at Persian places but brown in color. It just suppose to uplift chaats. The dahi puri was in the drier side. I need more yogurt. As it's dahi puri, as Dahi being the yogurt. Didn't like the filling inside the puris either. Jersey definitely has better options available for Indian snacks/ spices. This one was a onetime visit. Tsk tsk tsk.

Food: average Service: average with the exception of the food serving robot that was the highlight of the meal Value: I had much better Indian food at better prices Parking: ample parking Overall: I was looking forward to an Indian buffet. I found this place. Food was very greasy. Rice was reasonable Bread was great If I am ever in the neighborhood again, I would look for a different option

Zaika's Chicken Mix Grill Brain Masala Papdi Chaat Naan

This is a long overdue review! I was visiting New York earlier this year and wanted to take my parents to an authentic Pakistani restaurant. I came across Zaiqa's name on a couple of Facebook posts and after going through the good reviews on Yelp, I decided to give it a shot and boy am I glad I did. We got the mix grill, brain masala, and chaat and everything - and I'm not exaggerating - everything was so good! I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area and we have good desi food here too but rarely do restaurants have brain masala as a regular part of their menu here. So when I saw it on Zaiqa's menu I had to order it. Other than the brain masala that my mom makes, this was the best one I've had ever (and I'm originally from Karachi so that's saying something, iykyk). The garam garam naans were the perfect pairing with the bbq and curry. Not only was the food perfect but the restaurant itself was clean, spacious, nicely set up and the staff, from the owner to the servers, were all kind and jovial. There was even a space for us to pray, Alhamdulillah. If I'm ever in the area again I'm definitely stopping at Zaiqa!

Came here for lunch and so happy to find they were also running a Yelp discount. I'd be happy to come back even without the discount. Everything was priced fairly and food and service were great, even with a few hiccups they saved themselves to receive 5 stars which I rarely give out. To hit the $20 minimum we ordered a chicken kathi roll, a vegetarian special, and two chai. The meals were good and came out promptly but we found some of the rice a bit cold - we can tell everything was reheated since the cooks arrived a few minutes after opening at 11AM since we were told we had to wait 10-15 minutes for the cook to arrive. The food was plentiful for us including the naan but was pleasantly surprised and happy to find the waitress brought out a steaming hot pan of rice after we shared our concern. I also found interesting while ordering is that there was no indication or question on spice level but it still had good seasonings and a kick to the food. Perfect amount of spice without being too overwhelming spicy. Hands down the best aloo gobi I've had in awhile and the paneer tiki masala stood up to my standards though it only had a few chunks of paneer. Just be mindful the portions are not huge but it really filled me up. Regarding the drinks, I was a bit disappointed since I asked for the tea twice but at the very end when we wrapped up our meal another waiter checked in and I asked for it for the third time in which it finally came out. I normally opt out from sugar but I added two full packets so I can truly enjoy an authentic chai. However, I felt the chai here lacks in some type of spice or flavor that I usually have at other restaurants. Still I was happy to get my kick of non coffee caffeinated drink. I feel this post pointed out the flaws but I will say the service helped save them as well as the amazing food. I can't wait to come back and try other Pakistani foods on the menu!! Cannot wait to be back!

A selection from the buffet, all delicious!

We came for lunch as a group of four and started with two orders of samosas (2 per order). The samosas were tasty and not greasy, but somehow the filling was a little spicy. I didn't mind, but samosas on their own are not supposed to be spicy. Good to note if you have spice sensitive people in your group. For entrees we ordered the butter chicken (mild), baingan bharta (spicy), goat rogan josh (spicy) and the malai kofta along with naan and lacha paratha and it came with two bowls of rice. The butter chicken was delicious, creamy without feeling too heavy and not spicy as all as we requested. The baingan bharta was very tasty, nicely seasoned and quite spicy (that is how we ordered it). The goat rogan josh was good, I liked the goat chops as the meat was very tender (on the bone), but the dish was a little bit oily. The malai kofta were perfect albeit a little heavy/dense but that is how they are supposed to be. Each dish had great flavor and was as good as we have had. The naan was great and I liked the lacha partha, it was just a little bit greasy (to be expected). The bill was reasonable (~$120 for all that food) and I would definitely go back.

Saoji is a fiery, deeply spiced, mostly non-vegetarian cuisine said to have originated with the…read moreHalba Koshti weaver community of Madhya Pradesh. When the community migrated to Nagpur in 1877, their food followed -- spreading through the tradesfolk and mill workers who embraced its bold flavors. Today, Saoji is considered the signature cuisine of Nagpur: intensely spiced, unapologetically hot, and built around powerful, roasted masalas. Tonight we ate at Nagpuri Saoji in Voorhees (they also have a location in Iselin), and these two spots are reportedly the only places in the U.S. where you can experience this cuisine in its full, blazing glory. To Start We began with sabudana vada -- the classic Maharashtrian fritter made from tapioca pearls, mashed potatoes, peanuts, and spices. Served piping hot and impossibly crisp outside with a tender interior, they came with two chutneys and were absolutely sublime. Alongside that was goat sukka, a dry-style mutton preparation associated with the Mangalore and Udupi regions, with spice influences tracing back to Goa and even Arab and Turkish traders. Coriander, fennel, cumin, black peppercorns, and fenugreek give it depth and warmth. It was bold, savory, and incredibly flavorful. The Curries I ordered chicken kala masala curry, and it was deeply earthy, nutty, and robustly savory. "Kala" means "black" in Marathi -- referring both to the color and to the roasted spice blend itself. Cumin, coriander, cloves, cinnamon, stone flower, coconut, sesame seeds, and chillies are roasted and ground into a dark, complex masala that lingers beautifully on the palate. We also ordered Goat Handi, with tender meat in a velvety, aromatic gravy, and a Malwani goat curry, made with Malvani masala from the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra -- a spice blend that balances heat with coastal warmth and depth. Rice, plain naan, and indulgent Amul cheese naan rounded out the meal. Dessert We finished with Sitafal Rasmalai (custard apple-infused rasmalai) and Jamun Rabdi -- both creamy, fragrant, and perfect against the lingering spice. A Few Notes Like much traditional Asian cooking, the meat dishes are cooked on the bone -- so eat mindfully. And if you request "hot," they mean hot. This is not toned-down spice; this is the real deal. I was thrilled to try dishes from India that I've never made before. Saoji cuisine is bold, unapologetic, and absolutely delicious -- and I'll definitely be adding some of these flavors to my home repertoire. If you have the opportunity to try this cuisine -- do it.

I know it's popular for the saoji chicken but being a vegetarian I had to stick to their veggie options. I visited this place for dinner and they were out of a lot of things. The tarri tasted weird so it ruined the entire dish. Same tarri was present in the misaal too, so this dish was ruined too. Sol kadhi was average. The service was fast and the ambience is okay-ish. Honestly, would not recommend this place for their vegetarian options!

We got the Kathiyawadi and the Gujarati thali. You get complimentary sides that had pickled cabbage, peppers and red onions. They also had 3 sauces - I'm not sure what they are but one tasted like ginger candy, one mango chutney, and the last one was a savory spice dip. You start your thali with a butter milk, which I am not a big fan of. It tasted like watered down savory milk. If you're not familiar with Indian food and is just here to try the different taste, I would recommend picking between the Kathiyawadi and Gujarati thali for one, and then get the Punjabi thai. The Kathiyawadi and Gujarati tasted very similar with only 4 of the dishes being different. Ultimately they were all just different ways of preparing eggplant, chick peas, and tomatoes. The Punjabi thali might taste a bit different than the two. Overall I was a bit disappointed by the lack of variety with the vegetable and taste even though this was a vegetarian place. I think I'm also not used to Indian food and the spice so it is not for me. The staff were super friendly and patient explaining the dishes. If you like Indian this is a place not to miss!!
