I really enjoyed the alpine cabin vibe. It was cute and rustic and very cozy. The staff were also very friendly and very helpful. We started with one cheese and one charcuterie, which ended up being my least favorite part of the meal, which is rather surprising for me. The duck liver mousse and soft cheese were both fine, but neither stood out compared to the rest of the meal. We followed that with three small plates, all of which were super tasty. My favorite was definitely beef cheek croquettes. I really enjoyed the mushrooms and the spices and how they tasted with the beef cheek. The roasted squash was my next favorite. I really like balance of squash and sausage and how the fennel taste permeated the whole dish. I did get one or two bites of banana pepper that I didn't love, but overall the dish was really tasty. We also got the apple and sweet onion pork belly which also was pretty good and I really liked the apple and pork combo. I've had pork belly where the texture was a little better with a crispier outside and softer inside, but it was still very good. The large plates were actually my favorite part of the meal. My absolute favorite was the pappardelle. It was so creamy and the noodles were so soft. The meat was soft and tender and fit right in. The chicken was also super good. The jus was excellent with the wild rice and the mushrooms were a really nice touch.

I get The Trib every day for the last four years (I've lived in Chicago), the same with Chicago Magazine, Chicago Infatuation, Chicago Eater and ten more news feeds concerning food, restaurants and provisions. So how the hell did Table, Donkey and Stick slip under my radar for such a long time? How could a restaurant this good, not be upfront and personal in a city touting its restaurant scene? Leave it to my son and his fiance to lure me and my wife to a restaurant like Table, Donkey and Stick with cuisine this sophisticated; wow is all I can say. There is nothing fancy or complicated going on here and that's fine by me. For me it's always about my experience in a restaurant and T.D.S. passed my criterion by a mile! The menu here is not definable as it has cuisines from everywhere, but I'm feeling "Austrian" here: * The Trout Rillettes had shallots, dill and lemon that were sensational * The Coppa was dried cured-pork, fennel and garlic - crazy good * The Rabbit & Bacon Terrine had black truffles, garlic and pastis that just knocked me out * Duck Fat Potato Galette with yukon gold, sweet potato, cauliflower, thyme and parmesan shortbread - phenomenal * Lamb Meatballs - made the completely right way * Apple / Turnip Salad - Fantastic * Pork Schnitzel - was the "Kicker" that made me feel like I was in Vienna * Pappardelle - with rabbit ragu - beyond good * Desserts we had Sticky Pudding and a Cranberry Tart that was an unparalleled finish to a championship dinner! Their bar kept the level of this restaurant so elevated that I can't put anymore distinction than I have (oh wait - yes I can) except for the service that was equally wonderful. A "shocker" this grand happens very seldomly; but when it does happen, it takes a chisel to knock the smile off of my face!

Our dinner was a great experience. First of all this restaurant located in regular house made to be restaurant which adds to the cozy feeling. The service is great and they have few communal tables as addition to regular two person ones. They also have a corkage fee of $20 per table which is a good option if you want to bring your own bottle of wine. We tried the following dishes: POTATO LATKES--crispy potato cakes. I wish that horseradish aioli would be more significant in flavor. SLAGEL STEAK-very good quality steak on carrot puree was a nice dish. WITE ANCHOVY TOAST--it was our favorite from the small plates we tried. Good balance of flavors. BEEF CHEEK CROQUETTES--crispy, flavorful croquettes with delicious shredded beef cheek meat. PAPARDELLE-this pasta was amazing. Rabbit Ragu is something we will definitely come back for. Addition of pistachios gave it a nice crunch. PORK SCHNITZEL--perfectly fried, this is how the schnitzel supposed to be made. I was lacking saltiness like the meat was not treated properly with salt but we asked for it so overly it turned out good. Capers are also adding a bit of saltiness to it. Thank you for a nice time spent and very good food served :)

I visited for an early birthday dinner and this was fantastic. Service was great and ambiance was gorgeous especially out on the patio. The whole place feels like an old house converted into a restaurant! We ordered the pork schnitzel, duck liver mousse, cabra al gofio goat's milk cheese, fava bean dip, and the fried polenta. Out of these, the duck liver mousse was my absolute favorite even though they're known for their burger and schnitzel. The fava bean dip was a close second - we also ordered some of the specialty wine from that day. Really nice start to my birthday!

Ok I meant to write this review back in February. This was a Valentine's Day dinner and it was way too expensive for the experience. Favorites? Beet brined deviled egg. That's about it. It was so overpriced for the value and quality of the food. I appreciate the efforts but the whole meal was flat. When we first got there for our reservation, the restaurant was empty. It started to fill up as the evening progressed but overall, we were not impressed by the dishes. My boyfriend got the glazed duck and I got the lobster bouillabaisse - I preferred his over mine. The outside of the restaurant is muted and I was sure if it was open when we first got to the door. I knew the reviews were mixed for this place and I think that was my experience as well.

Go to TD&S when you want evergreen quality. Through the years they have remained steadfast on their top tier quality, inventiveness, ambiance, all while staying cool, current, and down to earth. Quintessential Logan Square vibes - run by people you'd love to hang out with at an art show or house party. We truly did not leave one bite on any plate uneaten and I felt not a drop of shame. Finished off our cheese plate, beef cheek croquettes, latkes, risotto, and pork belly with a delicious freshly brewed cup of chocolatey/nutty drip coffee. I can't wait til the patio is open!!! See you again, soon.

The food and beverages are amazing. Very small restaurant and a great rustic feel. We got the beats and strawberries to start. Then we shared the pea risotto and the trout main. Everything was perfect. And ended with the amazing toffee sticky pudding

Such a cute intimate spot up north and definitely a hidden gem! This restaurant is perfect for a cute fall dinner with the decorations and menu items. We got the pea dip and beef croquettes to start and I loooveddd the pea dip, amazing!! For entrees we got the pappardelle and trout and both were very good as well. Overall the portions were pretty big and we ended up bringing some food home as leftovers. Highly recommend!

Table, Donkey and Stick in Logan Square is a cozy spot that brings Alpine comfort food to Chicago. I went with a friend and we started with the Duck Liver Mousse and the Swabian Pretzel--both were rich and satisfying. For mains, we had the Schnitzel and the Risotto, which were hearty and flavorful. The rustic vibe and friendly service made the experience even better. We spent about $90 before tip, and it was worth every penny.

Great cheese ,sausage, observes and wine great place to unwind the food is outstanding

Came here for restaurant week and the food DEMANDS a five star rating, but... Some might think the quirky building and seating arrangements adds to the experience. But I'm not one of them. It was extremely cold out, so their heater was running, and when it was on, it was blasting us too warm, and when it was off, it was cold. Distracting to say the least. Not comfortable. The food was TOTALLY AMAZING though and the service was great. I'm just not a fan of the physical set up. Especially for the price one pays...

the bresola (cured beef) was SOOO GOOD! Apparently they make all of the charcuterie in house the potato latkes were v crispy. The sweet corn risotto was def diff and I could see how some ppl wouldn't like it but I enjoyed!! Hangar steak was kinda tough but I guess that's just how it be and did not like the currant sticky pudding but apparently I just hate dried grape things. Porchetta was so fishy. Overall, def have to be willing to try more unique things to come here in my opinion

I walked from the Blue Line and felt extremely safe. It's in such a pretty part of town. There are plenty of seating spaces both inside and outside. When you arrive, you find a table you like and then go up to the counter to order. They have QR codes everywhere so you can see the menu online. If you like natural wines this is the place for you. The people who work here are absolutely incredible. I came straight from the airport so had my suitcase and one of the bartenders offered to take my bag to the back which I adored. My friend also took a really long time to get there from work so I just hung out for a while and they didn't make me feel too weird about it. One of them even gave me a generous pour of the wine I got. I also ordered us a meat and cheese board which was simple, but nice. Do know that the prices are a bit high here. If you want to get a full bottle of wine the average price is about $60 for a bottle. The aesthetics of this bar are A+. It is really loud inside. The name says it all, you will be using outside voices. While we adored this place, the music was a bit loud so it was a little hard to catch up. That being said, we made the most of it. It also was the spot that I asked her to be my bridesmaid so it'll forever have a special place in my heart. If you're looking for a cute and trendy place, with fun music blasting, and a great vibe, this is it. I highly recommend Outside Voices.

Our waiter at Le Mistral was very friendly, gave some good advice on the cocktails, and was consistently attentive. My cocktail was just OK - sherry-based martini. I don't normally like a martini but all the ingredients actually seemed very much up my alley - the sherry, benedictine, rose vermouth. But the olive just overpowered. And definitely not worth the price of $24... Would definitely return and try the food next time as well.

We were not looking to feel the noize, however, and so stayed for just one cocktail. Mine was a Sazerac adjacent mix, and it was very high quality. The decor is very low light, but the vibe is pretty basic - more Paint Your Dorm Room black than Parisian Opium Den black. A bit of a missed opportunity for romance.

The ambiance is really nice without feeling too "stuffy". Bar was gorgeous and service was friendly and helpful, allowing my boyfriend to sample some wines before going in on some bottles. Prices were what you'd expect for a trendy natural wine bar. The complimentary corn nuts in the antique dish were a cute touch. The charcuterie board with mixed meat and cheese was really small though. Only three pieces of cheese for five people... it made it feel like an awkward fight over who'd get to try some. The gluten free crackers were appreciated though. We ended up ordering more food including the "party tray" which I would describe more as charcuterie nachos. We didn't really know what to expect with this one so we got the canned mussels but it really would've tasted better with the prosciutto instead. It included a whipped cheese, olives, and cornichons piled onto potato chips. Less of a tray and more of a nacho-style dish. If we return next time we're in town, I'd skip the food and focus more on the wine. Beyond that, it was a fun time!
