We had always passed this place when we would go out and about, but the hours seemed to be inconsistent. We saw it was open and the TVs were on so we popped in to check it out. We went here for night life, really good music from the DJ, throwback songs that had me excited to be there. We left and went to other places but nowhere had music as good as here so we came back. Drinks were different between upstairs and downstairs, my drink was made by a kind bartender upstairs and it was great! Downstairs between the bartenders, one drink i had was underpoured but the other i had was made it correctly, everyone being very nice including security! Loved visiting here. read more

I was assaulted Saturday night, June 16, around 1:30-2 am by security. I was leaving the bar and as I walked out the door I realized I didn't have my phone. I tried to go back in to grab it and the security at the door was rude and refused to let me go in and get it. He didn't offer to go grab it himself or have someone else that works there grab it. He simply refused to let me get my phone. As a woman, I'm not walking around downtown, late at night, with no phone. As I go to run past him to get MY property. He decides to slam me (mind you I'm only 145lbs) on the concrete resulting in multiple bruises, scratches, and a shoulder injury, which sent me to ER almost all day that Sunday. They're rude, service sucks, and in no way does me trying to grab my phone, SO I CAN LEAVE, call for assault or excessive force. read more

It was a busy July 4th weekend, so grace granted for short staff, There were 8 of us so we made early reservations to accommodate everyone and avoid the rush. Food was good and beverages cold but server was off his game even though we were the only ones seated for the first 25 min. Food and drinks out wrong, or out one plate at a time. No gluten free bread options for our one guest with issues . Generally we enjoy this spot and talked it up to our out of town guests but we were disappointed they failed to impress anyone this trip. Table Forty4 in the warehouse section of Toledo, OH was warm and welcoming on a very cold winter night! We stopped overnight in town and wanted to explore downtown however this neighborhood close to the place where we were staying came highly recommended. Our first stop of the night was at Table Forty4; the large bar dominated the place; the atmosphere was friendly and the décor was classic. As customary, my husband and I sat at the bar and asked to see their selection of craft beers; although the list was short we found it had interesting local choices from Rhinegeist Brewery to Platform, but the one that peaked our attention was the Water Spout from Catawba Island, a micro- brewery from this town on Lake Eerie. Who knew? It was smooth but hearty with all the right combinations to make a great beer, taste, foam and color. read more

This bar wasn't able to acknowledge our presence. We came with a group of 8 and were told to take a seat on the patio by one bartender. A waiter had come out and informed us that we weren't able to seat ourselves on the patio. He then immediately turned away and ignored us. I had to chase him down and ask if they had the room inside to make space for us. He, now very irritated with my presence, tries to separate our group across the restaurant. I'll start off by saying it was a busy night for the restaurant but I've been to a lot restaurants busy like this and never had any of these problems. It took over 20 minutes for a server to even greet us and take our drink order. Took off before we could order appetizers. Took another 20 minutes to get our drinks. We then ordered our food and appetizers. The server came back with more drinks, spilled one on the floor and table, which never got cleaned up the entire time we were there. The server came back after an hour of waiting on our food to tell us our ticket had not been started yet due to "the kitchen being backed up". And only after threatening to leave, all of the sudden she said our food would be out in 5 minutes. read more

In the years this restaurant has been open, they've had their ups and downs. I work downtown, so my co-workers and I come here for lunch on occasion. My most recent visit was very positive: good food (as always), attentive service, and the kitchen was punctual. The prices have fluctuated over time, as has the menu itself, but it seems to have stabilized with a tasty and relatively eclectic menu with prices that are pretty standard for a sit-down restaurant lunch downtown (about $12 after tip). Table Forty 4 is in my rotation for weekday lunches downtown... although I'm disappointed that the mashed potatoes side dish is only available for dinner now. read more

We came here for dinner just before the Brit Floyd Concert at The Huntington Center. We tried the Blarney Irish Pub but they were PACKED with no room. Anyway, we were greeted promptly and took seats at the bar. We liked the ambiance and friendliness of the employees. Our server Bob did a great job. Was not too busy at first, but by the time we left they got hit with about 60-80 more people. My wife had the Peanut Butter Burger and I had a BBQ Burger. They were very good, and we loved the fresh cut french fires because they were really... Fresh Cut. The pickles that came with our burger was real good and you could tell it was of high quality. We noticed either management or an owner helping staff out when things got busy. The Blueberry Beer was delish. Sorry but we cannot remember its name but it was on tap. A good stop before a concert! Especially when that darn Blarney is full and Pizza Papalis is too rich for ya. Oh, and if your a Floyd Fan and you have not seen Brit Floyd yet... What is your problem? They are awesome. I paid for one of the worst meals I've had in a long time tonight. I'm not even sure it's deserving of two stars but I feel terrible giving a local establishment a one-star review. A group of anywhere between 10 and 20 of my friends meets at Table Forty4 once a month for dinner. We've been going for over a year. I make it on rare occasion. It should be mentioned that there were only 5 of us tonight and we were the ONLY table in the house as the weather was horrible, so the food should have been fresh, hot and spectacular. It was not. Tonight, I ordered the fish and chips. I expected a typical fish and chips dinner; a hearty helping of beer-battered fish accompanied by and equally hearty helping of potato wedges..."chips", as they call them. Instead, I got one soggy, breaded tilapia fillet from Aldi that was warmed up in a toaster oven and slapped on top of a mound of greasy, re-fried French fries. Or so it seemed. Seriously, who came up with the presentation of this dish? It's horrid! The fish is not prepared in a manner that is hearty enough to withstand being placed on top of a mound of French fries. It was soggy, not crisp, so when you tried to cut a portion of the fish, it just mashed into the fries and fell apart. And the fries? They were a blend of fries that had been sitting around from a previous batch that were then mixed in with another batch of fresh fries and put into old grease. There's no way you can tell me any differently; I've been in the restaurant business far too long to not know that is exactly what happened here! Half of my fries (and my companion's) were burnt, dark amber wood chips. The other half were properly cook, although cold by the time they were served. Absolutely no excuse for that! The cole slaw was rancid. I ate one bite and it bit back. I've gone to the bathroom three times since I've been home. No lie. There was no rhyme or reason to any facet of this meal. The components, the preparation, the plating, or the price ($14). If you're going to offer "fish and chips", make it authentically "fish and chips", not "tilapia and French fries". Make it with a sturdy cod or other such white fish that is worthy of the name "fish and chips". And at least offer to serve it with malt vinegar, for goodness sake. I'm going to suggest that my group look for another venue. The standard of the kitchen seems to be sliding downward at Table Forty4. read more

Have been here many times before concerts and the food is always good. Unfortunately the service has gone down hill. Our recent server, nick, was one of the worse we've had anywhere. When we got there they only had two tables sat. We watched our drinks sit on the bar waiting for the server to bring them over while he stood there and ate. We had to flag him down every time we needed something. Then he'd leave the table with one persons order and not ask if anyone else needed something. Food took forever, but it was busy by the time we ordered, so that's understandable. Nick didn't realize that we didn't get all of the food we ordered. He went to check on it and never came back to tell us what was going on with it. They had to recook it. Of course tip was included because we had a party of 8. We spoke with the manager who took $20 off the bill. When nick came back with the adjusted check he told us not to come back. We will be taking his suggestion. read more

I hadn't been to Table Forty4 in quite a while, after several previous very disappointing experiences I pretty much wrote the place off for good. This past weekend though, in search of a late night dinner downtown, we decided to give it a shot. Turns out it wasn't a bad idea. The thing to know is that as much as Forty4 aims to be a fine-ish restaurant, it's just nice bar food. Arm yourself with that truth and expectation going in and you'll enjoy your experience more fully. I got the Cobb Wedge salad, which was tasty, but one of the funniest salads I've had the pleasure of eating. It's basically a half head of uncut iceberg lettuce drowned in bleu cheese and balsamic glaze with crispy chopped bacon, tomatoes, and some other veggies and stuff. Not really a proper Cobb, and not really a proper wedge, but instead a very high cook's take on what a salad would look like if it wanted to be a hot fudge Sunday. Totally messy, but pretty tasty. The pork tacos are actually pretty legit, they come "traditional" with fresh chopped pork and sparse toppings, a side (the rice pilaf is totally unique and super tasty, a sweet and fragrant herb blend that's a nice take on a basic dish), and a pico-type salsa (if I recall right). The surprise hit was the meatball sub, though. The meatballs were tender but not sloppy with a bright blend of basil, oregano, and garlic in a savory well-balanced red sauce and topped with sliced mozzarella (deli style, not fresh) on a hoagie bun. I expected the sandwich to suck but was audibly caught off guard by the flavor. Not the best meatball sub I've had, but it was legit. Aside for the $7 well vodka drinks (really, Toledo?), it was a good and fun meal and offered a good bit of ambiance too. The band was fun, the crowd was pretty chill but fun, and the space holds up well despite being so vast and noises. In short, it won't be so long until my next visit. read more

I ate here with a party of 7 others before a Walleye game, after we attempted Pizza Papalis (1.5 hour wait) and Blarney's (1 hour wait). We picked 44 because we could be sat immediately. The inside was nice and clean, and had a good amount of people sitting and at the bar. We were sat by what we assume was the owner, but were not given any menus. Our waiter was a guy who looked visibly frazzled, although it was not particularly busy. After he delivered our drinks, he left without giving us menus. After about 5 minutes, the owner finally delivered them. Two seconds later our waiter comes back and asks if we are ready. Um, ok. I ordered the Cuban sandwich. Overall our food took over 30 minutes to come out, which was long considering that it was not overly busy. Our waiter also didn't bother to give us updates or even apologize for the length that it was taking. Once the food came, it admittedly was hot and tasty. Once we were ready to pay and leave, our waiter went around the table and double checked what our food and drink was. To sum everything, the food was acceptable; the service is very, very lacking. Everything our waiter did showed that he was either very inexperienced, or just didn't give a rip. As a waitress all through high school, there are certain tricks you pick up to do your job better. First time dining here. Took a couple of friends along before we headed to the Mud Hens game. Couldn't wait to try it after reading and hearing so many rave reviews. Well, as experience has taught me, Toledoans will eat just about anything and think it's wonderful - especially if they can get huge portions for a perceived low price. Started off by greeting the owner outside who had stepped away from his host duties to have a smoke in front of the restaurant's open door - so all the smoke could blow back into the restaurant. Tacky. I knew he was the owner because I recognized him from the parent restaurant in Maumee - the Chop House - a wonderful dining establishment. Too bad they didn't bring their talents along to Table 44. First off, the place is EXTREMELY loud. All solid surfaces - no carpet or anything soft to help absorb the sound. We started off with an appetizer of crab cakes - $9 - for two little crab cakes that were mediocre at best. My buddy and I each ordered a Stella Artois draft. Served up very nicely in a Stell Artois stemmed glass with a gold rimmed top. Nice presentation. Lukewarm beer. I ordered the Lake Superior Whitefish with a small house salad. My guests ordered a beef Reuben with fries and a cheeseburger with cole slaw respectively. Dinners were served with nice presentation. My whitefish looked stunning draped across a bed of extremely greasy fries. Too bad it had no flavor whatsoever. No sign of my salad yet. My guests semi-enjoyed their meals. My female friend said her burger was acceptable but the cole slaw was absolutely drowning in dressing. My buddy said his Reuben was ok but his fries were inedible. Our server who was doing "drive bys" of our table - never stopped to actually hear our answers to her "Everything good here?" as she flew by to the next table. Granted, she was quite busy. I managed to flag her down for my salad which turned out to be the best part of my meal. Nothing special - a few grape tomatoes and some baby greens but it sure beat the flavorless fish and fries dripping in grease. We were all quite anxious to leave this establishment and finally flagged down our server for the check. Three meals, two beers and an ice tea with a $15.00 tip - $74.00. Trust me folks, you can do much better in Toledo for that kind of money. Will we go back? Perhaps. I believe most places deserve a second try but it won't be anytime soon I can assure you. Try this place at your own risk. We should have stuck with our first thoughts and gone to Manhattan's or Manos Greek restaurant. read more

Stopped in for lunch today with colleagues. Upon being seated we inquired what soups they had. The server stated clam chowder and chicken noodle, then corrected himself stating chicken tortilla. He then went on to say we shouldn't order the chicken noodle as it was "the bottom of the barrel and not very good". So we asked how the chicken tortilla was and he stated "it's aight" (not alright, but "aight"). After taking our order he brought out silverware and appetizer plates. 2 of the 3 plates had food crusted on them. One of them was completely covered. At this point the owner must have seen our disappointment and came over to ask if we had been helped. We showed him our plates and advised we are just going to leave. He asked who our server was and we couldn't give him a name as the server never even introduced himself. He just shook his head and didn't even attempt to get us to stay. Table 44 is a mix between a trendy bar and a casual place to gather with friends and talk. As I start to venture into the downtown scene more and more, I'm finding that there are a number of great places to go and live. (Something I wish I realized 3 years ago). The crowd at there seems to be everything from regulars to visitors, and all are welcome. Some come just to eat, just to drink, listen to a live band, or just to make a friend. While I did not experience it, it seems as though this is the kind of place where if you park up at the bar for a drink, the person next to you would engage in some pleasantries. The nice wooden look to the bar and the surrounding area gives it a classy look which brings out a classier crowd - doesn't seem like the kind of place where a bar fight would break out. I went there for dinner and drinks, and I found the prices to be moderate. This is not 'fine dining', but it's a good place to go on a casual date or night out, or to just meet up with a group of friends. A burger or sandwich of sorts will throw you back about $8-10 which includes great fries and a hardy cut of meat and fresh veggies on top. They also have some seafood and pasta dishes on the menu as well, so there is a little of something for everyone. I asked for a medium black & blue burger, and it came out perfectly. Having a big appetite, I ate the whole burger, but struggled finishing the fries - but I tried for sure. My night there panned out well with starting inside for a couple of drinks and listening to the band doing hit cover songs and then progressing outside to the patio for a meal and hanging out with friends. The staff, the atmosphere, and the overall attentiveness to creating and promoting an enjoyable atmosphere will bring me back again. read more

Absolutely horrible food and service. Do not waste your time or money. Waiter never asked if we wanted a second drink, we had to ask twice for silverware. Queso dip was velvetta with spinach in it Menu was a "limited menu" because there was an event in town (isn't there always an event? This is why we were there for dinner, idiots). Basic burgers, came out absolutely burnt. We ordered med, and med rare. When we sent it back, the waiter came back and stated the cooks were to busy to take "temperature orders". So this means no cooking to order, so we burnt the shit out of them instead. If you cannot handle a crowd (oh it was 5pm, and many empty table still in the place) then you need to get out of the business of food service. Be a BAR. Hard to screw up beer. I am only giving this place 3 stars for the reasons that it was my first time there, and I only ordered small things. I am by no means saying that Table 44 hasan overall 3-star rating. However, I am more than willing to go back to try more of, what sounded like excellent food. Our service that evening was a little slow, but it didn't diminish the attractive food choices Table 44 had to offer. I experienced the Smokehouse Chili and shared a chips and guac appetizer. The chili was meaty and filling, with a cool dollup of sour cream and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese to offset the slight "bite" and "heat" that hit my taste buds. The restaurant seems like a "fine dining" location because of the low lighting and dark wooden floors. But the center bar that contributes to the moderate noise of the restaurant gives it an easy-going air. It's a great place for adults to meet for lunch/dinner, but I wouldn't consider it a "family dining" restaurant. read more

Steak was overcooked (I anticipated that so ordered it rare, and it still came out with hardly any pink) and salad came with unannounced bacon bits. If there's anything that you can assume will not have pork on it, it's house salad, right? Wrong! I asked the server what the Burning River beer was like, and he said, "i don't know. We just got it." So either this guy forgot, or is lazy, or the owner/manager needs to know that it's important to let your servers TRY THINGS SO THEY KNOW WHAT THEY TASTE LIKE SO PEOPLE CAN ORDER THEM MAYBE? My companion ordered an iced tea with vodka which she finished about half of before the waiter "refilled" the glass with water. We finally flagged him down about 7 minutes later and he laughed it off and said "Oh, I know, the bar's making a new one." 15 minutes later we get the new one -- after dinner is finished. It is nice to have a little bit nicer place downtown, yet still not what I would consider a fancy, expensive place. It has a great patio when the weather is nice. Our 1st visit was their second day of business. Our server was delightful and very capable. Service was fast and the food was delicious. We were impressed and planned to go back. Dinner out last night was at Table 44 again. We asked to be seated on the patio but the only table available was next to a six-topper with several people smoking. The smoke was awful so we moved inside. I ordered fried ravioli which was delicious. My wife ordered the spinach salad. She said it was awesome! We decided to split a burger which also was very good. Visiting from out of town, a group of us stopped in for lunch and we pleasantly seated in an area with hot air blowing on us (we walked in the rain). The menu had something for everyone in our group. I got the burger and fries and was quite pleased with the portions. Our server seemed to be a little overwhelmed at having a party of nine (but the place was pretty empty) so maybe he was just having a bad day. I'm a pretty big fan of Table 44, although I wish it were in a different location (perhaps towards the mall, somewhere on Central, further up Monroe, or Talmadge), because parking isn't the easiest to find near the restaurant. The food was pretty good. The night I was there I had a turkey burger. We sat outside and the atmosphere is pretty nice. (Of course, give me a late summer night and a tall table with a few cocktails and good food any night). The menu is pretty diverse and somewhat large, without being too overwhelming or needing 15 minutes to just review each entree. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Their website is pretty pointless, as the menu does not seem to work half the time when you click on it and the information on the website is fairly vague. read more

This is my new favorite place to eat downtown. My wife and I both work and live downtown, so we get really excited whenever a something new opens up in the area. I've eaten there numerous times, and the food has been amazing each and every time. I will admit the service was a bit slow the first few times, but I think it's safe to chalk that up to it being a brand new restaurant. Also, It does get a little loud inside when the place is full. Finally, I was surprised to see that they allow smoking in their outside seating area. The smoke was never enough to bother me, though I'm fairly certain it isn't legal since the area is only open on one side. read more

Good food but awful service. I'd give the food four or five stars and the service 1 1/2. I love their turkey sandwich and the meatball sub and it's great having potato salad available as a side. Portions are very generous. Service is awful. I stopped going there if it's a game night or if it's busy because the service is so bad. Even sitting at the bar you have to flag a bartender or server down to take your order and the wait time for food is a lot longer than other places downtown. read more
