The woman working noticed we hadn't been there before and was so thrilled we came during her shift. She checked on us multiple times and made sure we were enjoying our food. Very disappointing. First off, this place has a nice atmosphere and a welcoming staff. The gentleman who took care of us was soft-spoken and kind, he even let us try one of the sauces before putting it on my sandwich. Some of the biggest issues here are main staples in Mediterranean cuisine. The hummus was flavorless, and our rice had uncooked grains that made it tough to eat. The chicken and falafel were both adequate and the portion sizes were impressive, however I would encourage a serious change to the hummus and rice. read more

Great spot for fast, affordable, tasty Middle Eastern cuisine! My first time in, I got a whole setup to sample everything, ranging from tabouli to baklava to some dank baba ghanouj-- had a huge lunch and took the leftovers home and we feasted like royalty later, too. The chicken kabob bowl I got was not a good portion for the price. The chicken looked to be a week old (see picture). It was flaky and dry. I was expecting succulent pieces of white meat chicken. This wasn't even edible. Very disappointed. Won't be ordering ever again. read more

I hate to rate restaurants poorly, but I agree with all the negative reviews--the food is not fresh or tasty. I was very afraid I was going to get food poisoning (which I may still tonight). The chicken was very processed tasting and the restaurant was dirty. The sandwich was very expensive for the quality you get. Fresh made to order tawook or shwarma sandwiches are under $10 in metro Detroit. Go somewhere else read more

Went here a couple days ago. I've walked past it several times and never saw anyone going in or out (should be a red flag). Figured I'd try it anyway. Upon entering a young female said hello from the back of the kitchen - she ended up clearly being a new hire and being trained by the man working there. I said hello to the man behind the counter and got no response. The interior is dated and dark as they only have about 25% of the lights turned on. They previously had large product stickers that were on the exterior windows that had been peeling off when I've walked by in the past. They were now mostly manually peeled off the rest of the way and left on the ground in front of the business. There was other trash on the ground around the business as well. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap. I ordered it with what it said it came with on the menu and I added cucumbers to it. I ate about half of it and threw it out. Very lacking in flavor/seasoning. I was also a little suspect on whether the food was being maintained at proper temps, as it's already cooked and in containers at the counter (think Chipotle style). I ate the food there. I was there for about 10-15 minutes at about 5:15pm. No one else entered the business to place an order or take out an order. With so few people being seen entering, it made it more suspect that with the food already made, what's the turnover ratio of the food? I cannot recommend this place and won't be going back. read more

Not what I thought. There are not many photos online. Its hard to know what to expect. This place is clean and a really quick single lunch stop. However.. I was not expecting a subway layout or maybe Panda Express.. Originally I walked in wanting a large carryout salad. I glanced over the menu and all of the dish trays sitting out and there was two little salads but they were in small dishes. I didn't get the impression they were a main dish kinda seemed like i could buy a small side salad. The employee showed me a small tray w lid the salad would come on. I think this is just for a single serving style kinda place Definitely not the kind of place where one could buy a large salad. I glanced over the menu and decided to get a bowl of lentil soup.. it's alright. A bit more sour than I am used to.. not sure what kind of middle eastern food this is but I guess I'm spoiled from authentic homemade foods. read more

Seriously I have high respect for that. but i would have preferred quicker pickup and for the rice not to be the hard dried out grains. Improve on that and you have an advantage. I visited this place a long time ago, and I enjoyed it. I happened to be near it last night, and I decided to visit again. I loved the variety of dishes available, and they seemed healthier than typical fast food. I ordered the chicken shwarma over rice and it was absolutely delicious. They make their own condiments and you get to choose which ones you want over your rice; all of the ones I chose were wonderful. The young man and woman who tended to customers were both polite and efficient, and they made me feel welcome. I can't wait to go back. read more

I really wish I could write a good review, but unfortunately Tabooli has fallen flat. After waiting for this restaurant to open after what seemed like a year for them to renovate the space (formerly Grand River Coffee), they finally opened with the start of the MSU school year. I have now visited the restaurant three times and will not return after being disappointed with the food each time. The restaurant is a fast-casual Middle Eastern/Mediterranean theme, where you can order a bowl, pita wrap, etc. Their chicken and beef shawarma is a flavorless mix of extremely dry minced meat and herbs. They only have chicken (no beef or lamb?) kebabs and they are not even made-to-order. For all three of my visits, the meat has been so dry and overcooked it is nearly inedible. The only reason I am not giving this restaurant one star is because the staff is very friendly. I wish this restaurant luck but it will not last unless they improve their food quality and menu. read more

The Baba ghanouj seemed a little homogeneous and more on the sour side than I am used to, but given the price point I feel like I got what I paid for. I asked "Does the eggplant have dairy?, because I'm vegan" and the server told me no. It wasn't until I sat down and took a few bites that I realized the eggplant had meat in it. I was upset because I specifically mentioned that I was vegan and he still gave me the eggplant. I even mentioned it again when I asked if the baba had dairy, which he confirmed. I know it may have been a mistake, but Mediterranean restaurants are typically pretty understanding when it comes to vegetarian/vegan options. read more
