    Pinball machines

I was never really a regular at Crunchy's while in college, but definitely had a few karaoke nights here and there. Nate and I stopped in for a drink and a snack recently while driving back to GR from the east side. I did have a chuckle at the many signs yelling at you to definitely NOT park in the parking lot that definitely looks like it should belong to Crunchy's. Obviously this has been an issue for them and whoever owns the parking lot (which was completely empty when we visited). So just park in the spots on the street near the park behind the building, otherwise you will DEFINITELY get towed. This is clearly not the fault of Crunchy's, so pay attention and you should be fine. The bar is divey and can be pretty popular during peak season (at least when I was in college) but luckily it was summer and the bar was full of locals. We were seated right away in the side of the bar with the pinball machines and our server was really friendly and nice. The pinball machines are constantly making noise so we heard the same few bars of some pinball machine music over and over and over throughout the whole time we were there... kind of annoying but what can you do. We got some drinks - I tried the Yooper juice, which is their version of a paloma, it was good. We also got an order of chips and cheese with taco beef to share. It was a good portion and the toppings were tasty. Topping distribution wasn't the best, but it was good bar food. They have drink and food specials throughout the week. They're known for their pizza, which I've never had, and their buckets of beer and food. Definitely a classic East Lansing bar and worth a stop if you enjoy a good dive bar.

This sandwich was super tasty and I will be back for it! Awesome bar that's been open for a long time. Great place to go with friends. The staff is nice and attentive for the most part. They have a large menu, it was hard to choose! I also got fried mushrooms and mac and cheese bites for an appetizer. Mushrooms were good and I would get again but I would personally skip the mac and cheese bites because they are kraft brand. Overall good experience and excited to try more!

Crunchy's is a fun, social atmosphere to meet up with friends. There is a room with pinball machines, and they even have karaoke nights, which is what I went to watch. (I was amazed at how talented some of the participants were!) We were told there was a wait, but ended up being seated much sooner than the expected wait time. I liked that the booths have napkin dispensers and condiments like mayo for convenience. I was ecstatic to find out that they had M-43 Tart Strawberry on tap, instead of in the can and had to order it. I ordered the Black & Bleu Burger for my entree because I am an avid bleu cheese lover and I was very impressed. It comes with bacon, pickles, onion, tomato, lettuce, and a pretzel bun. The fries were thick-cut and delicious. My friend ordered the 'Shrooms Basket of deep fried mushrooms. I wouldn't have thought to order this, but I really liked them once I tried them!

Quick and nice service. Food came out hot. Definitely a college bar atmosphere but there are quiet days for family's/kids too.

Sunday 1/2 off large pizza w olives, banana peppers, and onion.

Great food, service, and atmosphere but go elsewhere with a group larger than one table. The manager was rude and unaccommodating.

Lines would wrap all the way around the block at times on Thursdays. Nate and I were in town recently and decided to stop in and catch part of the Lions game. I laughed out loud when they asked for our IDs to enter - but glad to see they're enforcing this for all patrons. They have Truly on tap, which I don't see very often. With the help of the bartender we ordered a pitcher of Truly to share - their pitchers are small, and this one was full of ice. I think they're about 30 ounces or so. There are a lot of TVs and fun neon signs for all your Instagram needs. There are two areas of the bar - a main seating area with the stage and pool tables (which were converted to water pong tables) and the side room with the bar. It was pretty early on a Sunday afternoon, so it was quiet with only a handful of other people at the bar, which was nice. I'm sure The Riv is still a busy place on evenings and weekends.

We only stopped because some of the other places such as HopCat & ElAz were packed. Harpers was only about 1/4 full which was surprising before a weekend game. We were seated right away but there was one delay (and excuse) after another as to taking so long to get drinks & the order placed. 25% full was apparently an unexpected rush because we kept hearing how shorthanded they were. Anyway, I did post an extra star due to the host keeping us informed and taking the initial order, just to keep things moving. During our stay the table next to us had two groups back to back just get up & leave due to the crappy service. The food itself was good and no complaints there, but it's obvious that management has had no clue for quite some time on how to give proper service. Yes, it is a college town bar/brew pub but that's no excuse for such mis-management. We were lucky that we had an extra 30 minutes to spare or else we would also most likely had picked up early and left. There's just too many decent places in the downtown E/L area that do take care of customers and if you're looking to get proper service it would be best to try those other options.

We felt like we were in o.n East Lansing's best kept secret. The dining area is so cozy and fun. 5 stars on the vibe! We came on trivia night but had no problem finding seats at the bar.
