Fantastic Mediterranean restaurant with great options to choose from. The line was getting longer and longer and glad that I got there before the lunch rush. Ordered a mix n match combo to try the more popular items, and it was refreshing to watch them prepare everything fresh and right in front of the customers. They took great care in being sanitary and guest focused and what a treat! Place was amazing and so happy to have found it. This is the best mediterranean food you can get in the state of Michigan hands down and I've tried a lot of it. When I first came to Lansing, I decided to check this place out and see what "middle eastern" cuisine was all about and I instantly fell in love. The staff are friendly and the manager takes the time to get to know you and call you by name when you come in. The food is a real bonus. Everyday at lunch you can get a chicken shawarma lunch special, which includes chicken, rice, hummus, pita bread, and a salad or lentil soup. Sultans also changes the different side dishes so its always something different everyday with different tastes. If you want something extra, you can always get a fried kibi and a baklava dessert on the side which is an added bonus. Some other good combination is the shish kaufta, which is a BBQ lamb, with the aforementioned sides. For the first time eating middle eastern cuisine this place was a huge hit for me. In all if you want good wholesome food with not too many calories to burn later on the treadmill, this place is definitely a place to check out. read more

We've ordered from Sultan's many times and have gotten everything from a single falafel sandwich to a full catering set up. All is amazing and a great value as the portions are huge. Horrible food with terrible service. The shawarma is so dry and gross. Their gyro meat is frozen and prepackaged. Yuck!! I called for delivery and they called back to yell at me for not giving them a credit card when I ordered. They never asked for a credit card. 1.5 hours later I still hadn't received my meal, I called to check on it and they said they called me five times. They had never called, trust me. One of my favorite Mediterranean restaurant is Sultans Express downtown. I like to get there before the lunch crowd. They have really good tabouli and hummus. To me they have the best burgol in town. I'm so bummed. The last several times I've been to Sultan's Express, I've been very disappointed. I always get either chicken schwarma or a chicken schwarma salad and the last several times I've bitten into grizzle. I stopped going into Sultan's Express for several months but today I decided to give them one more try. Not only did I bite into grizzle (AGAIN), but my Greek salad was drenched in olive oil to the point where there was 2 inches of olive oil at the bottom of the container. It was disgusting. There is NO reason there should be that much olive oil. I could only eat a few of the vegetables as a result. Unfortunately, I'll never go back. I've tried the chicken Kebob and chicken shwarma sandwich, both huge portions and pretty tasty as well! Served with humus and garlic sauce and your pick of whole wheat or white pita. The food's great! Like most of the customers, I usually get the chicken shawarma, either on salad, in a sandwich, or in the lunch combo. The rest of the menu is just as good, though. The lentil soup is really good, and so is the shish kofta, the falafel, and all of their salads. As far as I can tell, just about everything is made fresh in-house (except for the bread) so if you come in much after lunch time expect them to be running out of things. Oh, and they're very accommodating in regard to substitutions and special requests. There's other places downtown to get lunch, and a lot of them are pretty decent, but there's a reason there's always such a long line at Sultan's at lunch time. read more

I want to say... I think I ordered the wrong thing. The fried veggies are not good, they are a greasy (like, they dripped out of my sandwich and made a huge puddle on the table and my shirt) mess. But, I liked the hummus and the salads. I like the regular Sultan's restaurant. I will be giving this place another try with the chicken shwarma instead. The service was mixed, the girl seemed confused but the guy was really friendly. They need paper menus. Visually impaired people cannot read that huge sign. Sandwiches are around $5 and combos are around $7 (from what I remember). I will be back! read more
