Not only was it ready in less than 20 minutes, but it was absolutely fantastic and filled to the brim with delicious food and all of the wonderful sauces and sides to make it even better. The icing on the cake was the service that I received. The gentleman at the counter provided amazing service not only on the phone and taking my order but also while I picked up the food. Was my first visit but def not my last! Service was good and portions are also good. Great bread and garlic dip. Everything we tried was great. I was used to eating in Dearborn or my friends house (family is middle eastern) and this is by far the best I have found in this area. I am middle Midde eastern, took family to dinner, the food was awful, enorumus amount of rice , very little chicken or beef, no flavor; service was awful. Next time bada west or La Marsa. We had chicken ghalaba, beef shush kabob and chicken shawarma, the beef tasted like charcoal/ashes, shredded chicken had no flavor, chicken ghalaba had a lot of veggies mostly green and red peppers, very little chicken, taboolah was watered down As well as rice. I have eaten here before and the food was always great. Grabbing a good lunch before a Sunday concert! So far so good... the fresh baked bread and aioli are unbelievable! Chris was a gracious server and made sure our basket was stocked and the aioli abundant. For those garlic lovers out there - this alone is worth the trip! We got 2 platters: the Shawarma combo and the the Kafta. Both were amazingly flavorful: the beef and chicken shawarma's were tender and grilled to perfection. I read the GREAT reviews on this restaurant and THAT is the very reason we decided to eat there. Stopped by on Friday, Oct 27, 2023 and was kinda shocked that the place was so rundown. It was nearly empty at lunchtime, which should have been a big red flag. After placing our food order, the waitress gave us ice water which started flooding the table as the glasses were cracked and things just continued to get much worse. We ordered Toum, Baba Ghanoosh, Chicken Shawarma, and Chicken Tawook. The quality of Taboon's food is horrible, never seen anything like this. They must use mostly canned, old, and very low-quality ingredients to prepare their dishes. The toum tasted of old garlic, the baba was runny and gelatinous. While waiting about 30 minutes for the sandwiches to arrive, I went to the women's restroom and noticed my shoes were sticking to the floor... all the way across the restaurant. The women's restroom was flooded with urine, hair, toilet paper and filth. perhaps this had been tracked and was the cause of the sticky floors. When we received our sandwiches, the chicken was shredded like cheap tuna fish in a soupy, bland sauce. It was evident that the cook knew nothing about seasonings or preparing Middle Eastern food and that the manager on duty knew nothing about sanitation. When I tried to let the waitress know about our concerns, she informed us that it WAS NOT THEM - IT WAS US and our ignorance about Middle Eastern food. She said, The owner of the Taboon's is Israeli and has been operating for over 30 years and the problem was that we were only used to eating Yemeni food. How she came to this conclusion and why she gave this as an excuse for the poor quality of the food is a mystery. I have eaten in hundreds of Middle Eastern restaurants in many different geographical locations. Never have I EVER seen or tasted such bad food in such a dirty run-down establishment as Taboon - NOT EVER! We are new in town and are exploring the restaurants. We've been fortunate to live in cities with excellent ethnic foods, so we are anxious to find a couple of favorite spots. We enjoyed Taboon. The menu is so extensive that it caused me to worry that without a close focus on middle-eastern food, or a couple of specialty dishes, we'd be disappointed. The good news is that the food was really quite good. The bad news is that it wasn't as authentic as we'd hoped. The chicken shawarma seemed more like very simply seasoned grilled chicken. The beef shawarma was well-seasoned but seemed to include vinegar in the marinade, which is unusual. Now, their toum (garlic sauce) was remarkable, and I could eat that every single day. First time at this location. It smelled amazing when we walked in the door. Our server was very attentive! We enjoyed a cold corona before we decided on our meal. The menu options were great and it was hard to make a decision but eventually I was swayed by photos... who wouldn't be!? The reason we chose to come here today was because they so graciously are participating in a Groupon! A lot of places miss the opportunity to capture customers this way but they nailed it! We loved our food and that fresh garlic and bread...... I can't put into words the trumpets sounding in my head while I gleefully indulged. Groupon got us in for lunch but even without it the prices are very reasonable and the food spoke for itself in flavor. No item over powered the next. I enjoy when ingredients hold their own. Was pretty good before at the old location in Lincor Plaza. They recently moved into the old Pizza Hut on Miller rd. Maybe the pizza ovens aren't good for Middle Eastern cooking, but things were significantly downhill. BAD! The bread was tough, the falafel had uncooked lentils in it and no flavor, the grape leaves had rice that was undercooked to the point of being al dente (crunchy) which is fine for some pasta but not for rice. I love shwarmas. My review concerns these specifically. I have not tried anything else from this restaurant. The shwarmas were horrible. I have had them from a dozen places, and this is the first time I was actually unable to finish eating one. They are full of grease like a Halo burger, and taste even worse than one. The atmosphere inside is very nice. The staff seem really friendly... I wanted these to be good... I really wanted them to taste decent, but they are just terrible. The "lamb" did not taste like lamb... The chicken was so bad, I couldn't eat more than a bite. The ingredients seemed low quality and bland. Never again! I enjoyed this place fairly regularly until I finally got sick of the absolutely awful servers. The food is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but some of the times I've been there I felt as though there was nothing the waiters and waitresses could care less about than their customers. Waiting 20 minutes after finishing eating was a typical waiting period for the check to come. I swore this place off a few months ago, but decided to try a little forgiveness today for lunch. I should have known better. I walked in and waited almost five minutes to be greeted. Nobody was at the counter by the front door. The girl who eventually came to seat me had just been at the bar watching television. What was on television, you ask? AN ANIMAL BEING SKINNED. Seriously? During meal service you have someone peeling back the skin of a dead animal? Unfathomable. Next, I was informed they didn't have lentil soup, something they had NEVER been out of the dozens of times I'd been there. Okay, I said, what are my salad options? The server lists some, and I decide on tabouli. Good enough. My food comes out, everything is right, and everything is delicious. This is what kills me - great food! It's hard to stay away. Well, to nobody's surprise, nobody comes to check on me after I'm done eating. I go up to the counter to pay for my meal so I can get back to work, and I see that I was charged $1.50 extra for the tabouli. "She probably should have f***ing told me that," I said, in a moment maybe a little too raw for public. I didn't want to put up a fight about it, though. I paid and I left. If they don't want me there (and they clearly don't) then they won't see me there. I'm done. read more

I was really in the mood for something with some vegetables in it and trying to avoid another fast food meal so I decided to splurge on an entree. I ordered chicken ghallaba with hummous which came with a fatoosh salad. It was pretty much a disaster right from the start. I remember asking just to double check if there were plastic utensils in the carryout as I was eating this on the run. What I didn't think to check for was that I had actually gotten any dressing for the salad. Ugh! So I ate the whole fatoosh with no dressing. Then I open the ghallaba. The stirfry looks OK. The chicken is seasoned pretty well. My side of veg instead of fries is there and in nicely charred chunks. What there wasn't any of, not even a spoonful of, was hummous. So basically 50% of the namesake component of the dish was AWOL. Even with the hummous I'm not really sure I would have been impressed with the meal as a whole for $16. I can usually get 2 meals out of the same order in the Detroit area. But yeah for $16 with no dressing and no hummous I was wishing I had just gotten fast food at that point. Now to be fair to Taboon I did not contact them to make it right. But to be fair to me I was on the clock for work with a large truck and trailer and I had already left the area and I had zero time to go back and rectify the situation so I really didn't have a choice. We went here a couple of weeks ago for dinner with another couple. The fresh pita bread made in the oven that is on the premises is always fresh, warm and tasty. It's accompanied by a garlic spread called labne that is wonderful. We ordered the mixed grill for two with rice and a fatoosh salad. Hummus, and Baba ganoosh and tabbouli were part of the appetizers. The main platter included the rice, grape leaves, grilled vegetables, shish tawook, shawarma, shish keftah, and some shredded beef. I requested some turnip pickles as well. The food is fresh and well prepared. The salad was well dressed and really green which I love. The meat was cooked but not overly so. Our friends also enjoyed their entrees. The bathrooms need a little updating and cleaning. The food is the best middle eastern in this part of the county. We would definitely return. read more

I am LOL at the previous/first review because I think the Flint location really *was* a Ram's Horn in a former life. It is SO MUCH BETTER in this incarnation. I say this presumptively, as I have never had the {{missed}} opportunity to dine at a Ram's Horn. This is a really great Lebanese restaurant located just outside of metro Detroit. Another solid contestant in the "Let's forget La Shish ever existed" tournament. The pita is warm, fluffy, and doughy. Their tabbouleh is a bit heavy on the mint but it's refreshing, actually. I love their fattoush and my family's positively addicted to their chicken saute appetizer - be forewarned, this first course is massive and will push that waistband to its limits. The standards of shawarma and tawook are solid but I love, love, love their ghallaba. Add a healthy, hearty dose of rice with just a touch of oil and you have one fat n happy customer! read more

I think I'm in love! My husband took me here for dinner. He told me their bread, hummus, and parsley salad was to die for ---- and he wasn't kidding! The decor is a little bland --- it looks like it was a former Denny's or Mexican American restaurant. There's a really cool brick oven in the middle of the restaurant --- a middle eastern woman (I think this place is family run --- and the lady is the mama) stands there and makes the awesome bread. The bread is soooo tasty--- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bread forms a little pocket (kind of reminds me of a pita) where you can stuff hummus (I stuffed the parsley salad and a slab of the garlic butter in mine). The staff here is awesome --- very friendly and attentive. Another cool feature they have is their hookah room, located in a separate little room when you first walk into the restaurant. I didn't go in because I didn't want to look nosey --- but if you're into the hookah, you could totally smoke some after dinner. Too bad this restaurant isn't in California ---- I would come everyday!! read more

The garlic paste and bread were very good. We also had a very good server which also helps. She was on top of everything & very helpful for a group of 4. The only issue I had was that the grape leaves were cabbage - I am used to grape leaves being wrapped in green and they were wrapped in cabbage which didn't have the best of flavor. It wasn't a negative because I probably wasn't paying attention close enough to what I ordered. The other ladies order various items and they were all superb. I was looking for some authentic Lebanese food, and Taboon delivered. They start you off with fresh out of the oven (located on the main dining floor) bread, served with garlic butter. Amazing. If you are with a friend (or 4) and want a little of everything or don't know where to start, try the Maza. It comes with Hummus, tabouleh, baba ghanouj, pita, grape leave, cabbage rolls, falafel, Lebanese rice. Don't pass up the Kibbee Nayee, which is raw lamb, it is soooooooo delicious and they season it very well. My husband and I enjoy coming here often. I can't get enough of the warm naan bread with hummus and the garlic paste. Unfortunately friends and family have to deal with the garlic breath for the entire day! We usually get the deboned chicken, fruit smoothie and hummus. I've had several of the sandwiches (chicken tawook is my favorite). Service has always be good and the portion size is huge in my opinion. We usually only order one meal and split it. They have this weird lip at their front door so wheelchair users be careful, also navigating around in the bathroom can be an obstacle for larger electric wheelchairs. They have plenty of booth and table seating. There is a small bar but no low seats but really your not missing much. read more

This is one of our favorite Middle Eastern restaurants. Taboon has very good food, including excellent fresh oven-baked bread. The bread oven is fun to watch for adults and kids alike. Their hummus is fantastic, as is their tabouli. They also make fresh smoothies, which my wife and kids love. We actually liked their Grand Blanc location better, but sadly, that one has closed. The atmosphere was a little better there. This one feels a little like an old Ram's Horn or something, but it doesn't really detract from the experience. This restaurant is nice for a family dinner, with plenty of room for larger groups. It's worth the occasional drive, better if you're already in the area for shopping or other activities. read more

Waitress was awesome first off. Then the food, appetizers, soups, bread and hummus and entrees were ALL good. My least favorite was the grape leaves and that's only because I never had them, not your everyday thing. I would definitely go back. If your entree is in hummus, don't get a hummus entree LOL the portions are large. The bread comes out of this big oven in the wall, so yummy and warm. The grilled veggies are also perfect, crispy. We normally get takeout from this location and the food has always been good so we went to dine in on a Friday night. There was only one other table in the whole place. That didn't result in faster service though because after 10 minutes without a visit to the table or a glass of water we got up and drove to Taboon in Grand Blanc where the owner greeted us and let us try Lebanese wine. When in Flint eat Lebanese food. That was my goal for our weekend trip. Being half Lebanese and there not being many Leb restaurants in Toronto I chose Taboon as a place to go and I'm glad I did. My husband ordered the baked kibbee with laban and fatoush salad. I had the lamb shish kebab, taboulli, and rice. The salads arrived, big and fresh, they looked and tasted great. Fresh, hot pita and the best garlic dip that I could have eaten all day. The entrees were really good, my husband described the kibbee as fluffier than mine. I really liked it, no pine nuts but that's understandable considering the price of those things. My lamb was medium rare just as I ordered, the rice fresh and light, buttery with vermicelli. Very flavorful food, large portions and that homey Lebanese taste that is hard to achieve unless it's made with love and care, which it was. Service was relaxed and very good.
