I don't know if Marie (and company) are in the aggressive, building-client base mode - but the customer service and attention to detail were simply off the charts! I often work on projects myself where there is a beginning and an end/completion. But what I most appreciated about this experience was the communication points during the process. Marie kept me informed about progress and obstacles through out - I never had a time that I felt I needed to know more and initiated a request. She proactively kept me updated or asked for additional data when needed. Lastly, and this part I almost hate to mention, is that my work recently has been highly demanding on my time. They did zero work, literally zero, as soon as we signed up they literally told us to go find comparable property sales ourselves and sent a bill at the same time because they wouldn't do any work to try and protest for us thus they knew we would not find any savings. The entire reason we used them was to find the comparable and do the protest, which they didn't do either of. They should at least have a policy that if they have zero data they can use to make a case, you should not pay anything to them at all since they won't do anything. I would not use them again, I have contacted state representatives to suggest regulating this industry due to unethical companies like this one.

This happened last year and here we are months later and this issue is still not resolved. Every time I call their office number, all I get is their voice message and despite leaving messages, I've not had not one call returned. They have a portal to which Frank has answered some of my questions but when I messaged him on Dec. 8th to ask about the status of my payment, I've yet to get a reply. I just called this morning again and YET AGAIN, the answering machine came on! Looks like I will be handling this directly with the IRS. Worst service I have ever received from any tax preparer. I asked for help with an unfiled tax return that was a little bit complicated, and I let them know multiple times that I was concerned about the pro-rata calculation for a roth conversion in a previous year. The accountant they assigned (Jonathon B) was not competent enough to even understand, so it never crossed his mind that he was doing it wrong, despite the fact that I had given him the correct forms. After he completed my return, but before filing, I asked him multiple times to explain how he did a pro-rata calculation. Instead he confused the pro-rata calculation with marginal tax rate, and tried to explain that the software did it. After I asked him to clarify multiple times (because he didn't account for prior contributions) he stopped answering my messages. On asking someone else at the firm for escalation to a different accountant, I was told that Jonathon is one of their most experienced accountants, and that they do not have any CPAs on staff, nor could they provide a referral to one.
