But I recommend you try a Bourbon flight but tell the bartender your new and they will find something that you will like. All your food comes from across the hall at Chilis. So good food. And great drinks. Always plan accordingly and get to the airport early to allow for this stop. But be smart and don't over indulge before a flight. It's good bourbon and not your college day Jack Daniels in a solo cup.... Oh they have Jack Daniels too. Other key things to mention: plenty of charging areas for your phone and laptop. Also outside the restaurant is a private bathroom with plenty of room. Upstairs after security!

After a quick check-in we waited for my wife's wheelchair and made our way through the TSA checkpoint. My quickest security check ever. We noticed many stores (lots of bourbon here and it seems that everyone is on that bandwagon.) They also had one really robust store here with many brands, sizes, etc... I wound up buying some take home at the Churchill Downs Store but was a little set back on the pricing. $45.00 for hat??? A fairly quick walk to the gate and we sat a waited. Internet is really good here and I had no trouble viewing some live video. After waiting a bit we decided to stop by Chilis for a quick bite before the delayed plane left. You can see that they're doing a fir amount of construction here which is good since this airport could use a bit of a facelift.

It was refreshing to see and experience. The seating seemed a little primitive as I didn't observe a lot of electrical/charging capability. I had to put my coffee on the seat as I went off and left it with my wife given lack of tables. My wife looked for a lounge but didn't locate any. I'm not sure if that was the airport as a whole or specific to Chase/AmEx cardholders. My daughter who is stationed in Italy and came to visit was complaining about the US coffee and I observed an Illy Italian coffee machine by our gate which made her smile. Love this aiport.

Funny thing, I've lived in WI my entire life and I don't recall ever having an old fashioned. I couldn't even begin to tell you how to make one. Knob Creek solves that dilemma with their "On the Rocks" pre-made version. In case you're wondering though, an old fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with water and bitters, adding brandy (or whiskey, which is the case with Knob Creek), and garnishing the drink with an orange slice and cocktail cherry. I followed the instructions on the bottle and simply tried it on the rocks. My palate may not be the most refined as I'm not a big drinker, but I didn't really care for it. Tasted like whiskey with a hint of citrus. Before dismissing it, I also tried making an old fashioned sour, which involves mixing it with some diet Squirt soda. The Squirt ameliorated the Knob Creek old fashioned, but it still isn't a drink I would gravitate towards with so many other options I prefer. Just to be sure, I gave one of my friends the premade cocktail to try as he's a whiskey connoisseur and old fashioned enthusiast. According to him, this premade cocktail was a poor representation of how an acceptable old fashioned should taste. That said, I might give a "real" old fashioned another chance at some point. The "On the Rocks" series also features some flavors that seem more intriguing to me that I would still be open to trying. My brother gave me this old fashioned for Christmas, but he should know me well enough that the Blue Hawaiian, Mai Tai, or Espresso Martini "On the Rocks" would much more be my thing. The drinks we had were all excellent. The best one by far was the dill inspired cocktail in the signature cocktails list. It was excellent. We can't wait to come back!
