Stumbled upon this place on UberEats because they were doing a BOGO promotion. I got the doner kebab and the serving size is humongous. It was a pile of lamb over a bed of rice and salad. I liked that the lamb was not too salty, but for the amount of lamb that was given, there definitely was not enough rice. On UberEats, the doner kebab is listed for $17.25, which is a little bit on the more expensive side compared to other places, but it was definitely worth it with the BOGO discount. Wanted some humus and kebabs for dinner so decided having Turkish. Finally a Turkish restaurant that's not name Istanbul. Service was good. They were being very helpful yet not being too productive in asking about how we are doing. Here's what we ordered. Humus - so so good. Texture taste all so good. Mixed grill: meat tender, juicy and tasty. All good. Branzino- very good. Fresh. Good potion for two. Kiymali- was good but very buttery. Find it greasy. Taci's Beyti has been around my neighborhood for years and it used to be really good. However, I'm not sure how this place has so many positive reviews as the food was horrible and the service was even worse. When we first sat down, it took the waiters 10 minutes to come to our table (mind you, the place was empty besides a total of 3 tables occupied). When we ordered our appetizers of Shepherd's salad and hummus, the salad had NO Dressing and no spoon to scoop it on to our plates. The hummus was served on a HOT plate and the hummus was cold so it started leaking. It was DISGUSTING and took our waiter 5 more minutes to bring out more utensils. The bread was also stale and not how we remembered it. For the main entrees, we shared lyulka kebabs and chicken in yogurt sauce. The kebab was fine but the chicken in yogurt sauce was so dry.. I've never tasted anything horrible. The dishes took over an hour to come out as well, and only came out as we flagged the waiter down. This was a horrible experience and I will NOT be coming back. This has got to be the best Turkish spot I've been to in NYC. We ordered a mixed grill platter just to get a little taste of everything. The meat literally melts in your mouth! The meat was smoked to perfection and packed with flavor. The juices from the meat paired very nicely with the rice as well. We also ordered the calf's liver; bear in mind I usually don't like liver but the way they battered and seasoned it made me love liver. They were cut into small cubes and fried until crispy. Squeeze some lemon juice in there and it's perfect. No gamey taste whatsoever. Although it's a bit on the pricey side, it's well worth it for the experience. read more

I understand that they raised their prices by at least 20 % , everybody using the excuse of everything is expensive. they added percentage to the credit card payment like all the restaurant I understand but I ordered a Shish Kabab platter witch I order most of the time. the plate came the pieces are half of the size that they use to be and burnt like charcoal. ai was planning to take home because we order enough appetizers. I always ordered from them before and during the pandemic. The food is excellent and recently we decided to dine in. I was very grossed out by how filthy and dirty the place has become. Ordered a simple chicken kabob large platter for takeout. Serving size was very generous and the chicken, while it had a good taste overall, it was a bit bland as many other people have mentioned and I think they should definitely spice up their chicken a bit more and marinate it for a longer period of time. Oh My My My. All my extremely good reviews always start out with slap me and call me susan, because DAMM this place is poppin! I came here on a weekend during lunch time (I would say around 3 PM) and the place was PACKED. We were the last table to be seated on that time for our group of 6. The service was spectacular and everyone was very attentive. The food itself was amazing. I've never tasted Turkish food to that level of deliciousness before. Everything you had was flavorful and really reflected the taste of Turkey. You can also tell the entire place was filled with Turkish people so you know it had to be good! I'm so happy we came here to eat because now there's no other place I need to go to to get my Turkish fix. Not sure how anyone can have a sub-par meal here--not I! Or my brother and nephews, who have also been coming here for years, BEFORE Taci's got a write-up in Zagat's and everyone came charging in from other boroughs to see what all the fuss was about (OK fine, I probably came after Zagat's, too). This area is a competitive landscape for Turkish restaurants. After all, Sahara, the "original" Coney Island Avenue Turkish emporium, is just a few avenues over. So to stand out here, in one of the major Turkish-American enclaves in Brooklyn, is really something. It's all about the food here, and if it's your first visit, you must get the kebabs: probably the Beyti Kebab, which is similar to Adana but has its own spice formula. Any other lamb or chicken kebab will also knock your socks off, and it's worth getting regular old lamb kebab, where Taci's displays its skill with skewered meat. On my latest visit, I tried the "oven menu." The lahmacun (aka "Turkish pizza") is a great entry point into Turkish baked pides. I gave the most decadent-sounding option a try, Karisik Pide--it was a monster-size flatbread folded at the edges--essentially a split open calzone stuffed with mozzarella, turkey sausage, ground lamb, and pastrami. This is their version of a meat lover's pizza--food coma territory unless you play it safe and share, or save some for the next day...or three. All the standard appetizers are outstanding as well: from the dips to sigari boregi. Soups are good too, and our bread was fresh and definitely hot (not sure if that's always the case based on other reviews). The servers are friendly and, despite a few minor hiccups, did a really nice jobs. Decor is fine, but again, you come here for the food. Taci's is always full of Russians and Turks, two peoples who appreciate skewered meat, and it's about as impressive a kebab place as it gets in New York. read more

I have lived in Sheepshead Bay for 30+ years and I finally visited Taci's Beyti for a meal and it DID NOT disappoint! Where do I even start with this restaurant full of Turkish cuisine awesomeness?! I'm one to never say this is the BEST of anything, anywhere mainly because I haven't been to every single restaurant that serves this type of cuisine, but I'm pretty confident this is considered and IS the BEST Turkish restaurant in NYC from all of the excellent reviews on Yelp, Zagat, other public domains, my Turkish friends and, most importantly, from my own personal experience here that very evening! We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening at about 6:30pm and there was a short wait of about 10-15 minutes for a table for 2, which wasn't bad. As expected, the restaurant was already bustling when we arrived. After we were seated, the amount of people waiting began to build. The wait visibly got longer and longer for arrivals so get here a bit earlier than the usual during times of the day when people eat (i.e. 12pm, 6pm). After sifting thru some Yelp photos and seeing just about every table order it, it was obvious to us that the Shepherd Salad was a must here so we ordered the small salad with pastrami & feta cheese on top. If you're here with a party of 2-3, the small will do the trick as it was bigger than I had expected for an appetizer salad. Parties of 4+ should definitely go with the large. As for how the Shepherd Salad was? In one word, AMAZZZZZZING!!!! It was one of the best salads I had ever had in my life! I'm not a huge salad fan, but I know an awesome one when I have it and this was one of them. The HUGE chunks of tomatoes, cucumber mixed with onions, green peppers, parsley, black olives, feta cheese and drizzling of olive oil, lemon juice was so freshing! We couldn't get enough of it! It took us a good 10 minutes to finish the salad, but it was the perfect way to start our meal off. Just when we finished the salad, our entrees came out. My girlfriend ordered the Shish Kebab and I had the Beyti Kebab. Both entrees were GYnormous as expected! The Shish Kebab consisted of cubes of baby lamb marinated in chef's special sauce with roasted peppers & tomatoes served over rice (rice is $1 extra). The cubes were big and tasty, but a bit on the dry side for my liking. The roasted peppers & tomatoes over rice were very good. Beware of the green peppers though as they will light your mouth on fire like it did to us! Those green peppers were no joke! As for the Beyti Kebab, that was perfect! There was chopped lamb flavored with garlic, hot pepper & parsley, grilled on skewers & served with roasted green peppers & tomatoes served over rice. I have to say I might be a bit biased as I love sliced lamb and there was plenty of it on the plate. The lamb was very juicy and extremely flavorful. I definitely favored the chopped lamb over the cubes. Before I end this review, I also want to state that the décor inside made it feel very cozy. The brick walls and atmosphere made us feel right in our neighborhood. It felt like what a neighborhood restaurant should be like. Also, the service was fast, fast, fast! Waiters were flying around since there was so much activity. We came, we ate, we conquered and we left stuffed! First let me say the food here is very good. Never has it been bad in any way. The issue that I have with the restaurant is the service. Whether it is in person trying to order takeout or delivery, the workers are always relaxed and taking their time. Quality they give off is that they don't care. They advise 15-20 min, but it takes close to an hour. You ask what is taking so long and they give you a generic response. Once again, food is great and never an issue with that. Got the tarator with pita and the chicken kebab to go. It took about 15 minutes to get our food and it came out to be around $28. They serve the chicken kebab in a large takeout dish with a decent amount of chicken. The chicken and rice were seasoned well, but the tarator I felt was the star. It had a great garlic-y flavor and it paired well with the chicken kebab! The pita wasn't as fluffy and soft as I had hoped, but was good to dip in the sauce. This place is BYOB! What's not to love about that?! My friends and I wanted to try something new for my birthday and decided on this place based on the reviews of my fellow Yelpers. Made reservations a week in advanced cause we were told it gets really crowded and it does! Once we got to the restaurant, I tried to inform someone that I made a reservation and the waiters kept telling me to go talk to that person and then that person will tell me to go speak to someone else. It was a total confusion. The cashier was all the way in the back of the restaurant and there was no host whatsoever. When I spoke to the fourth person I was directed to, he said my table was already set up and ready for us to be seated. Once we seated ourselves, we were expecting a welcome from our waiter but he was nowhere to be found. We asked a random waiter that was walking by for water, menus and an ice bucket for the wine and he totally ignored us cause he wasn't our waiter. The only thing they brought to us was the complimentary bread, which was really good and a good filler because we were starving. Our waiter didn't come to us until a good 25-30 minutes later and we decided to order our appetizers and entrees in one go because who knew when was the next time we'll get his attention. We ordered the stuffed grape leaves, shepherd salad & fried calamari for the table and they were really good. The shepherd salad was really flavorful and the calamari was really soft and tender. The sauce that came with the calamari was also really good, a new twist as opposed to the usual marinara sauce you would usually get. A bunch of us ordered different entrees and everyone was pretty satisfied. One of my friends didn't like the chicken kebab with yogurt because the pita bread was soaked into the yogurt and it became really soggy and gross over time. I had the chicken kebab and the chicken was very moist and flavorful. I was expecting dried chicken meat but it wasn't. Someone else had the chicken adana and that was hands down the best dish i've tried that night. I will definitely come back and get that the next time around. Overall, great food & mediocre service. I don't blame them because it was a Friday night and it was a packed house. But it doesn't hurt to be a little attentive once in a while, especially for first impressions. The prices listed on the menu online is different from their actual menu as well. They probably didn't get around to changing it. I have been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. It is one of the best and most authentic Turkish restaurants I've ever been to (and I'm quite a foodie so that's saying a lot). IGNORE THE B GRADE IT HAS POSTED IN THE WINDOW, TASTE THE FOOD AND IT WON'T MATTER! I usually go there with a big party and you most definitely need a reservation for a weekend because this place is small and SO crowded. Some of my usual orders are: Liver cubes (if you're thinking that's gross, I used to feel the same way until i tried some...they are AMAZING), shepards salad with cheese, hummus, lachamachun, the spicy eggplant salad (and I don't even like eggplant so that's also saying a lot) and my all time favorite: ISKENDER KEBAB! Kunefe for dessert, with a side of Turkish tea. Just a warning, you may have to wait a bit for a table and it can get really noisy but the service is always good, the food is always consistent, and it's reasonably priced. Staff was nice, but service was kind of frazzled and very disjointed. I had to ask for a water refill after many servers passed our empty pitcher on the edge of our table. I was asked if I wanted a drink, but we weren't given a drink menu. The guy goes to get one, but it's actually a food menu and I had to ask again. They place a basket of Turkish bread to eat it use with your dips. The brass is stale and unpalatable without dips. The hummus was smooth, kind of standard in my opinion. The eggplant spread was smoky enough, but the texture is more chunky and thick than what I'm used to. Overall, the appetizers were kind of disappointing. We ordered the whole branzino, lamb saute, Shish kebab, and gyro in yogurt. The while branzino was great, a nice white fish that was juicy enough with crispy grilled skin and a side of greens. The lamb saute was my favorite, lamb cubes with tomatoes onions and spices on a sizzling platter. The Shish kebab was tender and marinated well, but again, nothing beyond standard. It came with three half pitas, a grilled tomato, pepper and onions. The gyro in yogurt was my least favorite dish. There was sliced the gyro meat on top of yogurt and pita chips. The pita chips are mixed in with the yogurt....why would you do that? It was a terrible surprise for me. They obviously bake the dish before serving because the meat was mostly dry. However, the tables are roomy and the place doesn't feel crowded. The place was almost constantly full. The food is ok but I think you really need to dig to find the winners. read more

A nice Turkish spot offering authentic Turkish Cuisine. My husband an I drove out here after receiving a recommendation from a Turkish friend. We started off with some Tarama (whipped fish roe) and Borek. Both really delicious. For entrees we both had their mixed grilled option which came with gyro, beef and lamb kabobs I believe. Everything came on top of a thin bread with onions, grilled pepper and tomato. I ordered a side of rice to go with the meal. Everything was was super delicious! There are so many choices for Turkish and Mediterranean food in Brooklyn but I think they do stand out more than the rest. Every time I have been there they are always busy but it doesn't falter service. You are still seated quickly and can expect good food. For appetizers I always like to get the calf's liver for appetizers too. They are small fried cubes of joy. The shepards salad with cheese is pretty good too. For entree, you cant go wrong with the mix grill! It gives you a little taste of everything on the menu. The meat just melts in your mouth. This review is for delivery only. I ordered 2 chicken kebab with fries and 1 pan fried liver cubes. I understand that the quality of food is not going to be the best compared to when you are eating in the restaurant. However, I wished they had placed the bread and fries in a separate container from the chicken. By the time I received it, there was so much moisture in the container in addition to the onions underneath that the pita bread and fries were soggy. Unless you are a fan of soggy fries and bread, I would not order food to go here.
