My boyfriend introduced me to this restaurant and it's definitely a staple in Brooklyn for some great Turkish food. I've had the fried liver cubes as this is a popular dish. However, it ain't my thing. I ordered in for my family to try for the first time and they really enjoyed it! We ordered the fried calamari which was just ok. Not the best but not the worst. What really stood out to me was the quality of the meats. So very tender but also smoky. I think the adana is my favorite, followed by the doner kebab. The lamb shish was a little dry for me but my brother loved the chicken one. Eggplant dip and hummus are must-gets. Pairs well with their pita! Only few blocks away from where I live so I came here a handful of times. I usually come for dinner or over the weekends for my friend's birthday. It's BYOB so why not celebrate birthdays here. Typically, it's really crowded. I don't think there was a time when I came here and it was empty. The food itself is really good, I usually get the chicken Adana and I refuse to try anything else! My fiance and I had a double date with our friends that we frequently go on double dates with. I wanted to try a different cuisine from what we typically eat and I remembered I never tried Turkish food before so that's the cuisine we ended up having. My friend saw this spot had good ratings on Yelp so we chose to come to Taci's Beyti for dinner. The restaurant is pretty spacious and ideal for a birthday, family or a group dinner.The demographics at this restaurant was pretty wide. The table setting were arranged neatly and organized. My friend and I did preliminary research on top and best sellers, so we ended up ordering what we thought were deem as a must-try. We were given the Turkish Bread first which kind of reminded me of a Focaccia bread because it was flat with a little puffiness. We ordered an eggplant spread which was an eggplant puree with garlic, herbs and parsley. It paired very well with the Turkish bread. My friends are usually daring when it comes to eating exotic food and animal organs. She ordered the Pan-Fried Calf Liver Cube which is cubes of calf's liver fried in corn oil, served with lemon, onions and spices. I was afraid to try it because I don't like the texture, smell or taste of liver. I thought it couldn't be so bad since it was pan-fried and maybe the fried-ness will hide the liver like texture and taste, wrong! I was not a huge fan of it. We also ordered the fried calamari which I thought was a little pricey for such an appetizer because it was $11.50. The fried calamari was crispy and tasty, but nothing too extravagant. For entree I got the Adana Kebob (chopped lamb flavored with fresh red bell peppers gently spiced with paprika, grilled on skewers and served with roasted green peppers and tomatoes served over rice).The entree looked humongous and I began regretting that I ordered an entree myself instead of sharing it with my fiance. The lamb was perfectly grilled and tasted quite gamey. Our friends ordered the Mixed Grill which is a mix grill assortment of shish kebob, baby lamb chop, adana kebob grilled to taste and served with tomatoes and green pepper over rice. It was quite a vibrant and interesting dish. It was good that they shared, because it's nearly impossible to finish one dish by yourself unless you're super hungry! My fiance got the chicken kebob which is tender chunks of chicken marinated in the chef's special sauce with roasted long hot peppers, tomatoes served over rice. The dish was similar in ingredients to the mixed girll and my adana kebob. My fiance also had trouble finishing his entree. We also ordered the Pastrami /Kasarli Pide because it's Turkish bread and we wanted to try it. I actually really enjoyed this more so then my entree. It was crunchy, cheesy, and it had pastrami in it. YUM! We decided to try one of their desserts despite the fact we were full. We just wanted to try some Turkish desserts. We asked for the dessert menu which took a while to come. It turned out to be that one of the staff members brought the dessert menu to us live on a platter. The other waiter kindly explained each dessert and what it was made of, so we stuck by the Kunefe which I enjoyed by the way! Kunefe is shredded dough layered with sweet kunefe cheese, baked in a golden color and served with honey syrup and pistachio topping. On the menu it said it takes about 10 minutes to make which is good to know because at least you know you're getting it fresh. I loved this dessert because it's got a nice sweet crunch from the pistachio topping and this sweet creamy cheese drenched with some honey syrup! Yumazing! I would go back to have it again! Overall, it can be a little pricey here, but I really do think the variety of foods here really opens you up to try a lot of Turkish food. I would highly recommend to not eat with your eyes because you're going to be so stuffed and ended up taking food home (at least that's what happened here). I was in the area with my family and a friend recommended for us to check out Taci's. We were here on a Thursday around 1pm and the restaurant was pretty packed, so I think that says a lot! I wouldn't say it's the BEST Turkish food I've had but it's definitely in the running. We had the hummus, eggplant with yogurt appetizer, cheese pide, Turkish salad, chicken kebabs, and lamb kebabs. Unfortunately, this was one of the times where a restaurant's food was actually repulsive. Long story short, there was FAR too much oil on everything. I got the chicken kebab with yogurt; the pita bread underneath it absorbed all of the oil and was absolutely disgusting. No frills review alert! I highly recommend the lamb doner, calf's liver, ground beef kebab, any of the breads with mozzarella, and baklava. Add some spreads/mezze. I love this place and the food is one of the best Turkish restaurants in Brooklyn. I order from them weekly and just recently I've started to see the portions get smaller and smaller. I decided to call in and mention to them i am a customer who frequently buys from them and am disappointed that the portion size has become successively smaller every time I order. I was craving Turkish food on a Monday night and saw this spot. It was a long delivery since I was far but I figured the reviews made it worth the wait. It definitely was! I got Cacik,sigara boregi, spinach pie and the mixed grill. Everything was well seasoned and delicious. I also got the baklava. Baklava is normally too sweet and I can never eat a whole piece. Wow my first real Persian resturant! Came here with a friend that is Persian and she did all of the ordering for us. We started with the spicy eggplant dish with tomatoe sauce that was served cold with this really puffy flaking bread. Surprisingly good, I thought u wouldn't like it because it was a cold dish but it was great. Next we had the gyros which of course was packed with tons of flavor and the marinated onion and yogurt dressing on the side put it over the top. Finally we had a Persian pizza! In a nutshell: best Turkish food in Brooklyn, served by attractive Turkish men, located on a decidedly unattractive stretch of Coney Island Avenue. Their Shepherd salad is always fresh and and flavorful to start with. For a warm appetizer get their fried calf liver. It's likely my favorite thing on their menu and even if you don't like liver this will rock your world. Not sure what they sprinkle it with, maybe paprika and fairy dust, whatever it is it's magical. Hummus is always solid with a nice creamy and smooth texture. I know a lot of people order their kebabs and although they are good they are not my favorite. I actually really love their whole grilled Branzino with it's perfectly crisp skin and delicate interior. They have a very reasonably priced bottle ($20) of good Turkish wine called Yakut to wash it all down with. Service is brisk and although they are packed on weekends they will usually be able to squeeze you in for a table of two. Make reservations if you are coming in a large group though. Decided to go out for a Turkish dinner from Taci Beyti in Midwood, Brooklyn. This place was on my list of restaurants to try for many years. All of my Eastern European friends raved about their food. I ordered fried calf liver cubes and their mixed grill. What a disappointment. Their fried calf liver was soggy and very grainy. None of the meat on the mixed grill was honestly that great, it was ok nothing special. Fries (not shown) were really good though. On top of all this the service was terrible. Had to ask multiple times for bread & water for the table. When you see the servers asking all of their other customers how their meal was going as well as see them being served the essential water & bread right alway, you question if you're in the right place. I feel as if I'm disappointing people by not giving this place five stars. I've had so many friends tell me about Taci's Beyti. Friends from growing up around the area with me. Friends from other parts of Brooklyn. And even people outside of New York. How did they even know about it. Let me start out by saying I had a great time. Nice place. Food was good. It just wasn't mind blowing as people hyped it up to be. Still, I think it's a fine option if you're looking for Turkish food. Also BYOB. So snag a couple of bottles of wine when coming in. The first thing we had was the hummus, which was the best thing we had that night. Super creamy, just the way we like it. The spinach pies were also excellent. Our main courses though were nothing different than some other Turkish restaurants I've been to. My lamb was good, but felt underwhelmed. As did everyone feel about their entrees.
